Wife and I decided to stop by on our way home from an errand. Starting off, parking was tough to find since it's right by UNCG on a busy street. However, the street was a cute little area, especially for a college part of town. If I was a college student or lived close by and could walk here, I'd consider it if it wasn't for the food and coffee. Wife's espresso drink was way too strong, ingredient proportions were off and the espresso was very bitter and acidic. My matcha tea latte had too much foam, almost half of my mug. Avocado toast was probably the worst I've had in a long time. It was toasted bread yet came out a bit soggy with a few slices of tomatoes on top. And if you look closely, the avocado layer is very minimal. I would describe the amount of avocado as a very thin layer of butter you'd put on toast. And there was no flavor to it, whether because it wasn't seasoned at all, there wasn't enough of it to taste, or most likely both. Only reason it doesn't get a 1 star is for the friendly service and staff. We won't be coming back again. read more

Starting off strong with the simple decor, the perfect feeling and look for a cafe. Not over decorated but hints at what it's known for. The cutest part was the coffee bean bags on the wall. Now the drinks, the berry in love had a perfect balance of mocha and strawberry, it was as if I was enjoying a chocolate dipped strawberry. I also thought the name was very creative. I went back and ordered a strawberry refresher, which lived up to the name refresher. The strawberry was there but not overly sweet and really was refreshing. The breakfast burrito could've been a perfect score for me if the potatoes were a little more cooked through, they just were too hard for a burrito. And the service was amazing!! My barista was fast and even left a cute message on my cup!! And the one who gave me my food was sweet and made sure I had everything! Will definitely be coming back!! read more

The person at the register had to explicitly tell the person next to her how to make it and what ingredients go in it- even pulling up the menu for them and wrote out the ingredients on a napkin. Arrived at the location close to brunch time, barely busy with no one in line. Ordered two bagels to go with cream cheese and one with bacon and was disappointed. Was given a tiny block of cream cheese on the side, not on the bagel. The bagel itself was not toasted well, as it was hard to chew at some times, especially with barely any cream cheese. No utensil was given to apply the cream cheese as well. Bacon was also slightly undercooked, was expecting a bit of a crunchiness on it. It was also a bit on the saltier side. Coffeeology has a good vibe and the employees are kind and helpful, but I was disappointed with the quality. I ordered my coffee and got it within 10 minutes, but my friend ordered after it had gotten a little busy, and it took 30 minutes for her to get her coffee. I then ordered the goat cheese toast, and was very disappointed. It was an underdone piece of toast with tomato jam and whipped goat cheese haphazardly spread on top. The music was loud enough that it was hard to hear the person sitting across from you. Also every other song was Taylor Swift, and you could not escape it. I think they would benefit from having one or two more employees out front! read more

I was in Greensboro area with my wife and was looking for some good coffee and a place to sit and chat. Unfortunately the coffee was not good (and I paid for a pour-over), the food was not good and the environment was not great either. The coffee lacked flavor, it was just bitter and gross. They come up on Yelp as single origin, well.... It's not. My wife and I ordered avocado toast and again, it was awful. It seemed to be lacking freshness and direction. I'd rather receive less food and have it be good than tons of food and mediocrity. Finally the location, it was ok, but they were playing terrible music pretty loud. It was a woman singer and they played nothing but her for the entire time we were there and she is awful. At some point my wife looked at me and said, "Either we need to leave or I might kill myself because of this horrible music." Not a good experience, go elsewhere. read more

Update/ response to management comment below: I'll address my bagel first. The bagel she gave me didn't come from the basket where the other bagels were she grabbed it off the counter from another small pile (2-3 bagels that were together) Next point- I asked for no capers or onions. I Never mentioned dill which is something that's listed on the ingredients to come on it.. they put one little piece. It's sad.. 3rd point. I have about 30 photos of bagels from about 3-4 months ago when I use to come in all the time!! They are FULL of salmon and exactly what I expect when I order. I have been there more times than I can count.. I can show you what they use to look like and it's nothing like it that sad bagel I was served. Additionally, I ENDED UP PAYING $14 FOR THE BAGEL THAT I SHOULD HAVE BEEN GIVEN IN THE FIRST PLACE!! So.. in the past I've had the best device here. HOWEVER, they have new kitchen staff.. and I'm just disappointed. My bagel tasted stale and I paid $9 for a lox bagel with 2 tiny slivers of salmon.. they didn't even put any dill on it.. I mean COME ON!! When I asked if I could pay for an additional few pieces they charged me $4 for 2 more pieces. The manager at the counter was rude and blamed the now tiny portion on the owner.. Honestly save your time and money go to Brueggers bagels.. This is my first time back here in 3-4 months and I'm sad to say it declined so much.. UPDATE: While I was there with a friend still eating the manager (that was rude) proceeded to get a call from what I assume is the owner and I could hear her VERY loudly (I was on the other side of the restaurant) talking about me and the review I left. I am fan! I must admit, the gelato drew my attention, but it is certainly not what this place should be reviewed on. Gelato- Probably need a better manner of storage. The top layer had a textured film on it and a little too sweet. I tasted the pumpkin and tiramisu flavours. Coffee: The coffee is perfect! There was no bitter after taste. Usually some coffee places you taste the bitterness after the first taste or after it has been left out for a while. I did not experience this. Coffee was brilliant Soup: Cold day- I needed a cup of soup. I was very impressed with the red pepper gouda soup. (The name did not sound appealing initially.) The soup has a beautiful roasted red pepper taste to it, and a smokey gouda flavor to it. I really enjoyed it! I will be stopping by there for seconds this week! Prices are decent. read more

My girlfriend and I stopped by this place on our drive back to Chapel Hill, and it was a pretty nice coffee shop although a bit expensive. They have a pretty diverse menu, both drinks and food. For example, this place has Affogato ($4.25),which is an Italian Coffee-based dessert. We decided to share one and it was definitely tasty. Literally it is coffee mixed with with your choice of gelato. Although tasty, it best shared with 2 people unless you want your blood pressure to rise off the roof or if you have an empty stomach. For lunch, I had the Ultimate Grilled Cheese Panini ($5.75) with bacon ($1 extra) with the side of Black Bean Quinoa Salad. The cheese itself in the sandwich was delicious and the bread was grilled just right. However, it was made less appetizing with the bacon (surprising right?). I ended up taking the bacon out after finishing one slice of my sandwich. The Black Bean Quinoa Salad was good although pretty cold. As far as ambiance, it was quite comforting, and this is the best part of the coffee shop. The shop itself was clean and the layout was unique. On the other hand, there are not many seating areas in the shop. The staff were pretty friendly and got our orders out fairly quick. There is chill vibe created with the music and it created the right amount of background noise. There were university students who were studying, which makes sense since this place is outside of UNCG. This is definitely a place you would want to be if you wanted to relax or even be productive. Overall, this place is good if you are a local to this area, but not a must visit if you are an outsider. read more

Love their specialty latte and London fog. Their latte has really cute latte foam art if you're a fan of that. Their wraps and sandwiches looks amazing, too but I haven't had a chance to try it. I will update review about it once I tried it. They have 93 or higher sanitation ratings and it does show that. And they also have wooden furnitures that makes it really comfortable for working/studying/ meeting other people there. My friend and i meet there every week for a bible study program called Titus 2 run by Greensboro pregnancy center. More so than anything else these days, Coffeeology is a testament to the efficacy of the free market. Founded by a former employee of Tate Street Coffee, the newcomer offers a number of things you won't find across the street: an expanded menu and service sans attitude. This isn't to say that Tate Street is without its merits. Some will be drawn in by the ambiance or, barring that, the "recession-priced" cups of Joe. Instead, this is a reminder that competition gives us more choices and should be welcomed rather than dreaded. Benefits to the local economy aside, Coffeeology has a lot going for it. The beverage selection is extensive. Not only does coffee come in numerous strengths, sizes and flavors (none of which, as a non-coffee drinker, I can vouch for), but you can get hot white chocolate and spiced apple cider (hot or cold) year round. Like most coffee shops, Coffeeology has the requisite assortment of baked goods, including a respectable selection of cheesecake. But unlike other java-slingers, Coffeeology doesn't limit itself to dessert. Breakfast is available all day long, making it possible to enjoy banana split waffles at the unlikely hour of 8 p.m. Or, conversely, you can take in a prosciutto and cheese panini in the morning (fresh fruit or chips are your side options). The gelato is top-notch, which is a blessing considering its scarcity in Greensboro. Traditional ice cream flavors like cookies n cream comingle alongside the custard-like zuppa and other Italian specialties. Free samples make it difficult to decide on a flavor and equally hard to pass up. The quality of Coffeeology's potables would mean nothing, however, if they were priced prohibitively. Fortunately, they aren't. Waffles, crepes and panini run between $5 and $7 and egg sandwiches can be had for less. Several of the desserts and specialty drinks go for more than $3, but for the more economically-minded, beverages can be found for as little as $2. Free WiFi, pleasant cashiers, outdoor seating and a general lack of hassle all combine to make Coffeeology hard to pass up. Ironically, that very popularity is probably its biggest drawback. Lunchtime crowds make finding an open seat or getting your food quickly a risky proposition. Go off-peak though and you aren't looking at much of a wait at all. If it's proximity to UNCG gives Tate Street a dubious culinary reputation, Coffeeology makes a compelling counterargument. Fine dining it is not, but you'd be hard-pressed to find a better spot in the neighborhood (or in much of Greensboro, for that matter) to grab something to drink or a bite to eat at a random hour. read more

We were here at 9 pm an hour before closing , the place is pretty much dead except a few students with their laptops. Barista wasnt too happy to see us , he was pretty busy doing his cleanup and packing stuff a solid hour before closing. I asked for affogato which wasnt on the menu, and I asked his suggestion on what gelato would be a great pairing , he suggested chocolate almond pistachio so i got it . It was pretty good and gelato was sweet and indeed was a good pair to espresso. Espresso was real deal and super stong . Desert display was pretty much empty and what was there wasnt appealing. I don't know why I keep coming back when I'm not satisfied. I guess I like to give them multiple chances bc sometimes things are hit or miss. The vegan options seem really abundant until you actually order yours. Relative to the non vegan options the vegan portions are prepared as if they're for children and priced the same as the non veg options. If you go on a day they've run out of the tofu scramble or the avocado then you basically have the option of bread and fake meat. They barely use any vegan cheese on the breakfast sandwich and I had to miss out on the vegan cream cheese when I ordered a bagel with cream cheese and they did nothing to alter the price. It's way too expensive for the skimpy servings they offer to vegans. I love that they offer the option but I am an adult so I'd like them to feed me as one. read more
