We ordered here for the first time today. The food was decent and prepared as promised. However, they forgot one main dish in our order. As we unpacked our order and all sat down ready for dinner I immediately called the restaurant. A guy answered and I explained the situation. He says "ok" and there's a long pause of silence. I say "hello?" and he proceeds to tell me the food is on the counter with no apology. I explained to him that we have to go back and pick it up and he says, "That's fine." I just hung up on the phone. We did go back to get what was missing but most likely will not be ordering here again. Please learn some customer service, guy!

We still order from this place, every other week. Consistently good food, the green curry is still full of flavor.

My favorite Thai restaurant in Durham (so far!) Came in a few days ago and really loved my experience here. The food was good, service was friendly, and we were in and out rather quickly. I ordered a Thai iced tea and thought it was excellent. They used real tea, heavy cream, and condensed milk which really made the difference. The tea flavor was pronounced, and the amount of cream they used really balanced it out. I ordered a pad see ew, which is my favorite Thai dish, and thought it was pretty good. Definitely not the best I've ever had, but I thought the flavor was great and overall not too sweet. I will say that the beef quality was a bit lacking, and was my least favorite part about my meal. Overall solid time here, most likely will be back lmao.

Amazing food and great owners. One of my favorites. It's in a little strip mall out of the way but is perfect for popping in when hungry.

Of the many restaurants downtown, I especially appreciate Thai At Main Street's flexibility around serving large groups on relatively short notice. We came here on a Friday night (always busy in Durham). We called half an hour in advance for a group of 8 people, and by the time we arrived they had a table ready for us. The inside isn't large, but even though all of the tables were full, the volume was very reasonable. At our table of eight, we had no trouble hearing one another and conversed as a group. Service was prompt (even though the place was packed), and the food came out within 15-20 minutes. I got the Drunken Noodles, which I've had here before & always enjoy. My partner got the Pad See Ew, which was also phenomenal. Two in our party got the pineapple fried rice, which was a big hit (even with my slightly picky younger sister!). Overall, I recommend, especially for short-notice dinners, large groups, or anyone just craving some fresh, flat rice noodles (i can never get enough of those).

My friend is from that area of the world and on her recommendation we tried this new place in downtown Durham. It was terrific, what a find! The restaurant's unique handmade paintings on walls and other Philippino decor was very eclectic and cool. They had a hand painted mural of the famous Chef Anthony Bourdain Which was cool but he's from New York so I'll have to ask the owner about that next time I come back. Lol The place was packed and we were walk ins but the owner was at the reception desk and told us to wait and she might be able to find us a table. We were in luck and she directed us to the back room. The server was extremely knowledgeable about all the dishes. Since I had my Philippino friend along she told us what she liked as well as the helpful server. The food was delicious and had a beautiful presentation. What I ate I can't pronounce so look at my pics of the menu ;) I had a bowl w beef filet, onions, tomatoes, cucumber lining the bowl w Jasmine rice and a fried egg on top. My friend had oxtail and the other had an appetizer of Lumplang Shanghai and entre of Pancit Behon, all food was extraordinary and large portions. No doubt that was why the place was packed! It's a great place in downtown Durham to check out next time you want to have some adventurous dining. Kain Po Tayo! (Enjoy your meal!)

The turn around on the food was quick too -- 20 minutes from ordering to pickup! When we arrived at Thai 55 to pick up our order, we were greeted by DJ, who I presume is the owner. He informed us that they were unfortunately out of the Thai BBQ Pork we had ordered (unsurprising, given that Thai BBQ Pork is delicious!), and asked us to pick out any other appetizer we wanted as a substitute. We picked the potstickers (to which DJ said, "I'll give you two!"), and he assured us that they'd be out quickly. We sat at the bar and waited, taking a moment to look over the cute and cozy interior -- definitely a nice spot for a date night or dinner with friends. Sure enough, the potstickers were ready in less than 5 minutes, and when giving us our order, DJ also gave us a bottle of white wine and two cold bottles of beer -- entirely unprompted! We were so touched and delighted by his kindness and generosity, and we found ourselves smiling about it the whole way home. As for the food -- hot dang. Pretty tasty stuff. We got the panang curry, potstickers, Thai dumplings, tom kha, and pad prik. It was all delicious, and the portions were generous. Between the scrumptious food and truly outstanding service, we will absolutely be returning to Thai 55. Strong recommend!

They had two vegan options, and my partner & I both got the Biang Biang noodles. It was good, and perhaps even better the next day (the serving was big enough that I couldn't finish it). My sister got the Jjajiang Mian & absolutely loved it. This was a very positive experience, but not mindblowing--I think that the hype around the "M" restaurants perhaps raised my expectations a bit too much. It's also possible that their non-vegan options are stronger than their vegan options.
