If you find yourself in the little town of Paia, definitely try this yummy Thai place. The fried spring rolls were as expected, and though the pad thai was delicious, the sauce was unexpected. It was more like a thai barbecue sauce, but I am not complaining. It was unique and tasty...just don't expect normal pad thai sauce. I also appreciated the generous serving of veggies in the pad thai! The woman who waited on us was attentive and gracious. It's small place, maybe 4 tables, but it does offer free parking. We paid for parking elsewhere though so that we could explore the town after lunch. read more

This tiny little restaurant is a gem! Located in Paia town, a little ways after Minit Stop, this restaurant has approximately enough seating for 15 people. But don't let the size fool you, the food is worth the headache of finding parking. But for those of you in a rush, they do offer take out as well. I had the Thai basil with beef and my hubby had the panang curry with seafood. Both of us ordered brown rice as sides price is not included with the dish). Portion size was generous and presentation was simple. The curry was rich and tasty. The coconut milk added a little sweetness to the dish and complimented the assortment of seafood (2 types of fish and shrimp. The vegetables we're still slightly al dente and we're not overcooked. It was perfection in a bowl! The Thai basil with beef was one of the best I've ever had. Garlicky but not overwhelming. The fresh vegetables and the basil leaves kept everything tasting light. My only complaint is that I asked for my dish to be spicy and it came out mild. This was easily remedied with globs of Sambal. We both left feeling full and satisfied. If in Paia town, or passing through, you need to try this place. I will definitely be back to try other dishes. read more

Thai food in Paia town! Small restaurant, clean, friendly service and really good food! Little pricey but worth it. You can hear the Thai cooks in the back and so it makes you feel like your getting the real deal and it sure tasted like it! I ordered the spicy green curry, and the crispy chicken. The crispy chicken was really good with a sweet Thai dipping sauce on the side but it also had some drizzled on top! Very good and the curry was delicious! They said it would be spicy but it wasn't spicy to me but it was really tasty! I want to come back and try their Thai beef salad because I love a good Thai beef salad! How are you going to charge for rice unless I ordered extra rice!?!? I went in wanting food and was asked if I wanted rice with it. I'm like yes! The dish I ordered should ALWAYS come with it but was told for $2 more I could have it. How strange it's like ordering spaghetti and having to pay for noodles. Silly @$$ backwards business. The cashier said it's cheapest they all do it like this here on the island as she's worked at every Thai place, so she said. (Not to mention she was on her phone to me that is a sanitary issue.). Get off the phone the phone is filthy for everyone and wash your hands!) I just got the $3 ice coffee and was told the machine only accepts cards above $10 orders. WRONG!!!! I was LIED to again!!! Credit card terminal machines do Not decide whether or or not they take payment only over $10. The restaurant owner made that silly concept so it would not be charged a percentage. However if I paid $3 for an ice coffee they may have to pay the credit card company 6 cents. So if I bought 4 ice coffees at $12 they have to pay the credit card company 24 cents so now it's more! The ratio stays the same at 5%!!!! I said forget this and instead drove to Aloha Thai Fushion and guess what? The rice is included! I'm so glad I went to Aloha Thai Fushion as their amazing bombtastic fish tacos and cashew tofu was divine and lilikoi tart did the job. Of course they are miles apart but I rather support an ethical business that does not lie to their customers especially their own people. read more

Unauthentic, bad "Thai" food. My husband ordered the off-the-menu Pad Kee Mao and said it was really funky. There were strange leafy, inedible particles that he had to eat around because they were so bitter and intense tasting. There were also green beans which certainly don't belong in a traditional Pad Kee Mao. The noodles were also wrong! Lol it was just a strange dish. Same went for my Pad See Ew. Not traditional and way too sweet. The tofu was also very very soft which tasted kinda gross. Just not my style at all and I have eaten alooooot of Thai food so I know good Thai food when it hits my taste buds. Overall, would not recommend this place if you have eaten traditional Thai food before. This was some of our favorite food in Maui! It was affordable and delicious! We went at around 3 PM in the afternoon, so they weren't too busy. We got a parking spot right up front and a table right away. We had the pad se ew and pad Thai. The food was really fresh, and it wasn't drenched in oil like noodles often are at Thai restaurants. The service is kind of odd. When we walked in no one was there up front. We waited for a moment, and someone came out to help us. He took our order right away, and the food came out pretty quickly, but they don't go out of their way to be super friendly. but they aren't rude either. I was very disappointed to find that they don't offer any spiciness for the papaya salad. Why name it spice when you don't offer the hot "spicy" flavors. I told them that I didn't want it after-all, since it was going to be bland. They still gave me the order (and I would have returned it except my husband was too kind to return). I was pleasantly surprised by this whole-in-the-wall Thai place. Coming from Orange County, we have a TON of Thai places out here that are pretty good so my expectations are always high. Any concern or doubt I had were quickly washed away with the first bite of my yellow curry. It packs a nice, spicy punch but not overwhelming. It's strong with flavor but not too much of that coconutty taste that is the hallmark of the canned stuff. The Pad Thai here was cooked just right and didn't make you feel tired of eating it after a few bites. If you're tired of eating burgers, fish or anything else. Stayed in Paia for 6 days. One day my son was craving some curry. So we just ordered one chicken yellow curry and rice to go. I had decided to skip dinner that night after having a heavy lunch . This is a tiny place in Paia, across the street from the old Charley's. They make the BEST Thai food and the portions are substantial, We usually get the pad Thai with chicken (choice of meat) and the green curry very spicy, again weigh choice etc of meat. Delicious! Their chicken satay has larger pieces of chicken than other places, but it is so tender- they must marinate it in coconut milk or something before cooking it. And the peanut sauce is outstanding! There are a few small tables inside, but I've only gotten takeout. They aren't open all day- open up at 4 pm for dinner-- so check their hours. They seem to do quite a lot of takeout business. The parking lot is rather small so that may be problematic if it is full. So place a takeout order and take it to go to eat at Baldwin Beach-- you won't be disappointed! read more

The Thai food is different than we are used to back in Seattle. We had the pad see ew and pad Thai. The pad see ew was done with longer, chewier chow fun noodles, but were very tasty and saucy. The pad Thai wasn't traditional tamarind that I'm used to. They were saucy and had a hint of what tasted like tomato paste. They don't ask what you'd like for a spice level, so it comes mild unless you ask for spicy. I asked for spicy on my pad Thai and would say is was medium heat, but still flavorful. It's a small place that can seat 10-12 people, but worth the wait if you're not really wanting more burgers, pizza, or fish tacos. The service is really quick. The service here was atrocious at the beginning, but slowly got better. A tiny spot (seats maybe 10-12), no welcoming upon entry, and some slight attitude. Despite what others say, the vegans here will not be pleased. Thai Spice uses oyster sauce in nearly every dish, and it can't be removed like most other Thai spots because Thai Spice pre-mixes the oyster sauce. My partner and I thought we'd be able to get Pad Thai with no egg, or some stir fry dish, but unfortunately the only thing that we could have were a couple (not all) of the curries. Dropped into Thai Spice after four hours of hiking. Ordered yellow curry with chicken and Thai garlic beef. The yellow was so awesome! Great balance of flavors. This is now one of my favorite yellow curry places ANYWHERE! The Thai garlic was also really tasty. So many flavors and a good balance of veggies to meat with a bit of heat. Excellent Thai food, got the panang seafood curry which had snapper and mackerel and other white fish in it. The Panang curry was so good that we finished every drop of the curry.
