I searched for a Thai food restaurant nearby the airport and found this location. I went in and there was no one seated in the restaurant, it was just after 4pm so I guess I was a bit early. I sat down and looked at the menu to find no Thai food, just more than 50 different Pho dishes. I asked the waiter if there was a Thai menu, he said "No only Vietnamese" as I was looking at the menu more and more people came in. I guess I just beat the crowd. I ordered what I heard someone else order "Thai Pho" it was many thinly slice rare pieces of beef sitting in a soup with rice noodle. They were very tasty. I was also serve some been sprouts and hot tea. I ordered the large size and I could not finish it. I should have looked at the menu before I arrived. It was not Thai food but still quite good. When no left there was barely any table open, so it is quite popular with the local crowd. read more

Eh. Prices are reasonable for the amount of food that you get but taste is average. I ordered their dry tossed noodle with seafood and it was a huge portion of noodles in a slightly too salty soy sauce. They gave a good amount of imitation crab meat but not very many toppings other than that and a few shrimp/squid. It was fast and the service was friendly even though they don't really check on you! They let us stay for a little while even after we ate so that was nice. read more

This is practically my go-to for vermicelli bowls. I normally order #34 grilled pork with spring rolls. The meat is always well-marinated and spring rolls are crispy and tasty. Since I like to drench my vermicelli in fish sauce, I often ask for extra sauce whether I eat in or for my take-out. The other dishes I would recommend are: 1) #43 Pork chop and fried egg on rice - nice charbroiled meat. Always very fulfilling 2) #18 Special combination pork with rice noodles in soup - an amazing non-beef option. Another Vietnamese food in this corner of the city. Yay! (the place opened 9 August 2013, according to the waitress) Parking is available in the nice large strip mall lot in front. The interior is nice and shiny and new - just like an upscale Chinese restaurant. Right down to the baller chandeliers in the ceiling. Yes, chandeliers. The nice ones too. You'd almost think you were living in Beauty and the Beast land. Lighting is nice and bright. The place looks really clean. It's scary. The BBH is fairly decent. The layer of chili oil covers the entire surface of the bowl. Onions didn't seem too fresh - they were not as crisp as I would've liked. Wanted to try something different for dinner last week so my friend and i decided to try out this Vietnamese restaurant. This restaurant always include a small plate of bean sprouts as an appetizer which is nice. I noticed that most of the patrons inside were eating the pho soup bowls for dinner. Today I wanted to try something different so I tried #44 on the menu which was "Grilled lemongrass pork chops, shredded pork with a fried egg on steamed broken rice." It's not bad at all! The pork chops could use a little more seasoning so I dipped it in the sauce that was meant for the bean sprouts and it tasted better. I didn't like the taste of the diced shredded pork though. But I liked that it came with a small bowl of soup to finish off the meal. My friend ordered #1 on the menu which was "House special combination beef in rice noodle soup." He liked it. It comes with beef beef slices, tripe, and meat balls. The tea that we were given was noticeably better tasting compared to other casual Asian restaurants. Prices are quite reasonable here hovering around $10 per dish. On top of that, we were pleasantly surprised to learn that all menu items are 10% off on Tuesdays. The staff at the counter is pretty friendly and smiles which is nice. The dining area and the washrooms are big, clean, and modern. This branch is a little while out of the way in terms of location at the edge of Granville Street close to yvr airport. I will most likely visit one of the other locations around Vancouver in the future because of this. Overall, it's not bad at all! Finally a local pho place near the new apartment that's actually open past 8:30pm. We shared the shrimp and pork salad rolls and a small bowl of pho each - he had the house special and I had the bin bo hua. I specifically asked for leaner peices of beef and the server said "yeah yeah sure." What I got was 90 percent beef fat. I paid 15 bucks for a bunch of fat. Those chunks In the picture are all pieces of fat. Look at the gigantic chunk on the left. Discusting. Also, when I placed my order over the phone, the server never mentioned about the cash only policy which really sucked as there were no cash machines near by. Also, there were items missing from my order- "All served with fresh bean sprouts, basil, hot peppers & lemon." None of those were included. So the service was terrible and they screwed up my order, but the main reason I'll never return to Thai Son is simply that their food is not good. Stay away! read more

I'm a big fan of Thai Son so when I found out they had opened up a new location in Marpole I knew I had to go. I don't usually like ordering BBH from the other Thai Son locations because I know they're not known for the BBH. However, I felt compelled to get it due to "My BBH Journey". As expected, the BBH from this Thai Son was not a mindblowing experience. However, I looked around and the lemongrass chicken rice dishes that people had ordered seemed just as delicious as their other locations. Would I come back to this particular Thai Son location again? Most likely not. Yes, it's super clean and yes there's a huge parking lot but the location sucks (IMHO) so I'll stick to Richmond or the one by Main st. * important note * it's a huge pain in the butt to get to if you're coming from Richmond. read more

This place is impressively clean and the natural sunlight creates such a peaceful and home-like vibe. We ordered a bowl of #1 (the special) and #15 (rare beef and beef balls) pho. Some of my favourite things to order: #57 - Grilled Beef Short Ribs w special steamed vermicelli, it comes with a whole lot of veggies & herbs. Traditionally with most vietnamese dishes where you see lots of lettuce, it's suppose to be eaten as a wrap. #47 - Lemongrass chicken on steamed broken rice.... soooooo yummy. I ordered a spring roll vermicelli and asked for no bean sprout, the noodle came out super hard and there were bean sprouts inside. I told the server and ask for just the new bowl of noodle only as I was eating the spring roll, he took away my bowl and then came back really fast with a hot steaming of vermicelli. The vermicelli suppose to be served cold, and the previous one was so hard that I felt like they are over night or store in fridge for hours. They kinda rebuild my new bowl because I can tell some piece of spring roll was missing which I ate, but I was hoping they just bring me a new bowl of just noodle instead of take away my old bowl while I was eating the spring roll. Also while I was eating some hot vermicelli, I found a tiny piece of bright blue thing on noodle, looks like piece of those vinyl gloves. I didn't confront as I was not happy with their food and service anyway. There were definitely some attitude and not so nice service and I have been to thaison for years and now I probably won't go back again with the food quality and service, there are so many better Vietnamese restaurant out there! read more

First off, be warned that this place doesn't take credit or debit - CASH ONLY. Secondly, don't get this place confused for Thai food like the name says, it's strictly Vietnamese food. The food here is decent, and their portions are big. Although, there are better places to eat in the area. The service is par with other restaurants, nothing to complain about nor rave about. My family and I had our lunch at this establishment coz some say that these chain of restaurants were pretty much famous and lots of customers. I was dismayed after we got our food orders- I ordered Yellow egg round noodles with beef brisket & tendons but they gave me a white thin strip noodles and the color of the soup is kinda red color and the oil is floating on top of the soup. My Brod inlaw ordered a rice dry noodle but instead he got a brown colored noodles and looks like it's been cooked with lots of black soy sauce. We called the lady serving us and complained but she insisted that they served us the correct food orders. They don't accept their mistakes in serving us with the wrong food and insisted that they are correct. I will not recommend others to eat on their restaurant chain for I believed that we've been cheated on our food orders. Eaters on these restaurants ( Thai Son) beware and make sure you clarified on your food orders or else you'll get your food orders which you will end up "To go". read more

You would be an absolute idiot to mistake the Thai Son restaurant for Thai food. It says under the sign: Vietnamese food. The glowing neon sign may also not be obvious: PHO. Service may be a hit or miss, but you really don't need a server coming back and asking how your Pho is. I'll tell you how it is: delicious! read more

[Noodle Soup] This location of the Thai Son chain is one of my main go-to places when there's nothing in the fridge. For a Pho shop, it's nicely decorated, tasty, and priced right. Parking is plentiful and there's always space. When it's cold, the #3 noodle bowl (rare beef and flank) provides warm brothy goodness. For something heftier, the lemongrass chicken is a solid option. The spring and salad rolls don't really shine - I'd take a pass on these. The staff here are friendly and quick on their feet. I can be in and out of here in under 30 minutes if I was in a hurry. PS. I usually get the Pho Tai (slice rare beef). It's exactly what you get. I find the broth oilier than most places, but it's still good. This location is probably one of the cleaner pho locations out there, although there is always a weird smell when I walk in. Convenient location in very south Vancouver just before Richmond. Free parking out front and located next to a liquor store that claims to sell 2% less than government liquor stores. What more can you ask for. Oh maybe accepting credit. I have been back several times and the service and food have been solid. I really enjoyed the lemongrass chicken on vermicelli (usually comes with pork and chicken but I'm not big on pork unless it is bacon or of the pulled variety). Very good dish. The pho is also good. Definitely glad to have this restaurant in the neighbourhood. read more

Super yummy, I always get #3 pho. Soup is always flavourful and the staff are usually super friendly and nice. Unfortunately last time they screwed up my order (I hate green onions so I told them no greens - but voila, my pho showed up with a crapload of green onions and onions on top). This Thai Son is better than the one on Broadway but today, the service is a miss. One of the server with glasses served me a tea pot with tea that looks strange with brown powdery stuff on it. I didn't notice it at first because I was busy on my cell phone . But when I got a chance, I inspected the tea and the tea pot. I was very disappointed. I told the server with glasses about it and she gave me a reason why the tea was like that. I felt that she thought I would not notice the strange brown stuff on the tea since I was distracted but she thought wrong. She also gave me an attitude when she changed the tea on my tea pot. I am quite disappointed because I go there almost every week for lunch but after this experience I might not even go there again. I don't understand why people like her who works in the food industry would have so low standard of food/ drink quality, that even though she knew that the tea pot's tea has brown stuff in it and still served it to customers. Tried to order a pho tai with vegetables and was told they don't do this- never had a problem at any other place. The broth was ok but everything was just sub- par.
