This place was pretty slow and the food was just okay. We ordered take out and had a mixed review of the food. Spring rolls were yummy. The drunken noodles were good but the basil fried rice was pretty bland. And just to warn mango sticky rice lovers, the rice is GREEN, yes green! Stopped by for lunch takeout since the reviews were pretty good. Not sure about the seating, didn't walk past the bar area. Had the pad thai and drunken noodle. Very flavorful and fresh veggies. We ordered mild spice level. Still a bit spicy for us but very good overall. We haven't seen that style of flavor in the pad thai since we were in San Francisco. Wish I had ordered the thai tea. I love Thai food and seek out Thai wherever I go. We stopped here to carry out an order to share with family while we were on vacation. All of us were very disappointed. It was very expensive for the amount of food we received. We asked for it to be hot (spicy) and it was but other than that, there was very little flavor. It just wasn't worth what we paid for it and considering the price per serving, I really expected it to be spectacular. The staff was friendly so I feel bad for writing this review but I use yelp to help me choose restaurants. I'm very surprised at some of the high ratings other customers gave to the Thai Room. Many of the options were actually Chinese rather than Thai. The eggrolls were decent but all the other food we purchased was very bland. The curry had a lot of summer squash in that and was the dominant taste. I would not consider visiting this restaurant again. read more

We had lunch here a few weeks ago. We had the chicken satay, pad thai, and green curry with pork . I started off with a thai tea. It had just the right amount of sweetness. The chicken satay was served with toast points which was different, but it allowed us to eat all the yummy sauce left after the skewers were gone. The pad thai was good, nothing super spectacular but if you have a craving this will hit the spot. The green curry with pork was spicy by American standards but oh so delicious. The staff was nice but make sure you have some time if you are going here for lunch. It was a little slow but the tasty food makes up got it. read more

Good. Restaurant is really more of a mix of Chinese and Thai -- in fact, I'd say more Chinese than Thai. Still decent food and better than I expected for being at the beach. Service was very good and I thought (unlike other reviewers) prices were reasonable. read more

This was great Thai food (for the outer banks) - better than we expected to find. We had Steamed dumplings, Vegetarian Pad Thai, Chicken Drunken Noodle, Thai Beef Curry, and a Kung Pao Chicken. This was more than enough food for 5 adults and we enjoyed it. We got each of them Medium spicy and the Thai Beef Curry was very hot. Everything else was an expected amount of hot. I'd reccomend it for anyone who is looking to get away from the regular seafood for a night. read more

I ate here tonight and it was great! I had the Thai chicken curry and I loved it! You can get the curry in mild, medium, or hot. I got the medium and it was just the right amount of heat. The servers are very nice and polite. I will defiantly go back here and enjoy the curry again! read more

Not even sure where to start... the Thai fresh roll that was actually a flour tortilla filled with unidentifiable items drenched in sauce or the General Tso's chicken that was 90% batter and 10% chicken. Perhaps the shrimp with green beans that was also drenched in sauce to the point where everything in the bag was covered in sauce, including the entire bottom of the bag; succeeding only in giving the appearance of the food being moist and juicy, but actually far from it. There are lots of good reviews for this place, but I will have a really hard time trying it again. read more

We had dinner twice here while vacationing in Kill Devil Hills. This family-owned restaurant has great food and very friendly staff. The place looks a bit shabby, but we liked the old-fashioned decor and the food was AMAZING! Everything we had was absolutely delicious, and they were very accommodating when I asked for a smaller portion for my daughter, since she did not want anything off the kids menu. The pad Thai was amazing, and so was the cashew chicken. You may want to order medium spice-wise, since hot is really really hot. The prices are very reasonable too. It's been awhile since this local has been here and I need to correct that in the future. We stopped in last night and had Kung Pow chicken and Moo Shu Pork. Both were very good. The Kung Pow was a combination meaning it came with a spring roll that was huge and delicious and they had real hot mustard. Not the garbage in the little packet, but in a squirt bottle with as much as you wanted. No other place on the Outer Banks in Kitty Hawk to Nags Head has any and I have missed it. Yummy. Priced well and large portions should please anyone. It won't be long before I am back next time since it's just a couple miles from home. read more

We were looking to have lunch after visiting the Wright's brother's museum. If you want authentic Thai food, don't go to this place. I get that there aren't many Thai restaurants in the OBX area but the pad thai and drunken noodles we had was terrible. It doesn't taste anything like the pad thai we are used to eating in the city (northern virginia). Drunken noodle was not even close, it was made using the same thin noodle like the pad thai. It was suppossed to be made with flat rice noodle. Anyone looking to have thai food, stay away from this place. Aweful! read more

Went here on Christmas and they were super nice. Like so much so that it warmed your heart. The food was really good. The reason they aren't getting five stars is we ordered the vegetarian egg rolls because we are vegetarians and my wife is allergic to fish. They came out and we each had a bite and it didn't taste right so I asked the waiter and she said there was crap and shrimp. She did realize what happened before I told her and took our plates away and quickly got us the right ones but those items were not comped and my wife had a reaction that caused her to take an allergy Med that knocked her out for 12 hours. read more

We loved this place. Interesting Thai themed decor. Cozy booths. Super friendly service. We split a seafood soup and the Thai Basil Duck. Both were delicious. The duck was cooked perfectly. One of my favorites on the Outer Banks. I really like going here after a nice, long, hot day at the beach, but it's consistently good anytime of the year. I enjoy the vegetarian dishes, especially the Vegetarian Cashew. I also enjoy the Vegetarian Spring Rolls and Fried Bean Curd appetizers. The service has always been great, just remember to ALWAYS be patient and know that your food is being prepared to order and will come out hot and delicious. I do recommend not bringing your children if they don't know how to behave. It's a smaller restaurant with a nice setting but way too small for whiny children. read more

Great Chinese food, and decently priced too! Ordered steamed dumplings as an appetizer, general tao chicken combination plate for dinner and the fried bananas with ice cream for dessert. The dumplings and fried rice were very good, but dessert was definitely the highlight! Fried bananas are a must have! Well, to start with we had to go there because the one we had planned was closed that day. We were looking forward to enjoy some Fried Tofu, but it was more like chewing paper than tofu. We ordered Cashew chicken that included egg roll and fried rice. The cashew chicken was good, but fried rice looked and tasted like it was made a few days ago. Next was Chicken with pepper and ginger, it had less chicken- may be they should have named it Pepper and Ginger with chicken. However, the ambience in the restaurant was quite beautiful. read more

Hands down my favorite restaurant; I have been eating here since I was a toddler. The family who owns it is very nice, the guy who said he was annoyed by a "senile old lady" is an idiot. I love hearing the stories that "Mama" she tells, she is hilarious and very kind. Now onto the food... I haven't eaten a meal there that I didn't love. The satay is awesome, tiger cry steak, pad thai, crab ran goons, chicken cashew... it's all delicious. Do yourself a favor and go eat at Thai room. read more

My boyfriend and I LOVE Thai food, so of course we had to try Thai Room Restaurant while on vacation in OBX. We are wary of fusion restaurants and were a little skeptical that they serve both Chinese and Thai food. This was not the best Thai food we've had. However, we were impressed by the quality for being on such a tiny strip of land all the way out in NC. We got Drunken Noodles with Chicken and Cashew Chicken. The noodles were thinner than we were used to, and was packed with tons of vegetables. The cashew chicken was on the sweet side, again packed with veggies and pineapple. BF ordered a Mai Thai and I got Thai iced green tea. The Mai Thai was not very good; BF said it tasted too syrupy and unpleasant. My tea was fantastic though. Our waiter and waitress were extremely kind, funny, and helpful. The other diners in the restaurant seemed to really enjoy their meals, too. A nice addition to the restaurant was a small jewelry boutique in the back of the restaurant, where I found a beautiful ring for my mom for Mother's Day. read more
