I ordered the crab Rangoon but did not taste them. My wife ate them all in record time without sharing and said they were the best she ever had. I tried the Khao Mok Gai special which was awesome! Just the right amount of heat and the flavor just explodes in your mouth. read more

I'm a Southeast Asian who grew up in Southern California eating tons of Thai food. This is my perspective: One star for the nice decor. One star for a $7.99 (limited) lunch menu that comes with a spring roll, salad with peanut dressing, and tom yum chicken soup. One star for decent Pad See Ew (stir-fried wide rice noodles with eggs and Chinese broccoli). However, for my tastes, all the dishes are too sweet. Unfortunately, the American palate favors overwhelmingly sweet flavors rather than a perfect combination of sweet, sour, salty, and savory. Some spice would be nice, too! I can make better curry at home, so I won't be ordering curry here. Despite these shortcomings, we will continue to patronize the restaurant because my daughter loves their noodles (and their name). read more

Hands down-the best Thai food in greater Lansing area! Lots of options in the menu and really good price too..

Thai Princess is a small but elegant restaurant. The decor is dimly lit wih warm browns with a dark laminate wood floor. It's amazing considering the previous restaurant to occupy the space -- Scalliwags Fish and Chips. The owners redid everything, from the ceiling to the walls, to the floors. It easily has the best ambiance of any Thai restuarant in the Lansing area. Service was prompt, our server did not have the best english, but refilled our water several times and boxed up left overs at the end of the meal. We started with the Thai Salad, which was pleasant with sprouts, carrots, daikon , cold fried tofu and an excellent warm peanut dressing on the side. The chicken in the pad thai had a pleasing charred flavor betraying the hot wok it was cooked in. Overall however the pad thai was too mild for my taste, lacking spice, peanuty sauce or a hint of fish sauce I was expecting. The portion was huge however and the noodles were cooked perfectly, not a greasy lump like Taste of Thai's. My wife ordered Sam Rod (see photo). She enjoyed it, it even had some exotic green papaya which was a nice touch. She did say she preferred the sauce of Taste of Thai's Sam Rod over this one's. Overall the food was excellent, with modern fresh ingredients just not quite as dynamic as we had hoped. We'll definitely return to try out more of the menu. The prices were spot on, our check with two meals and an appetizer was $24. It's very nice to finally have a Thai Restaurant that's elegant and nice to be in, something that you find in Thai places around the rest of the country. This is definitely a place you can take a date to and a cozy place for a night out. read more

So delicious !! This beats all the Thai food in Lansing. Very yummy and delightful- it makes a huge difference in quality. Best Pad Thai

I am told that thai princess is one of the better thai food places around the East Lansing/Okemos area. Solid 3-stars: "A-OK". Pad thai was a difference style then west coast style, where there is an abundance of thai food. Fairly decent, but nothing spectacular that I would go out of my way for. Their 'fresh rolls with shrimp', commonly know as 'spring rolls', although they had that labeled something different, lacked a whole lot of meat. Shrimp was as thinly cut as possible, so hardly worth the $2.50 / roll price. Decor was alright for a tacky thai place, however the tables were horribly small. My knees kept hitting the table when I moved around, which, by the way, was also not bolted down to the floor. Maybe I'm just a little to big to be eating at thai princess... Overall, fairly average eatery, nothing that really amazed me yet from this place. If I was shopping closeby, I may decide to sample other things on their menu, however at this point I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. read more

I liked this Thai restaurant. The food was delicious, and the service was good. They had many options to pick from, and I tried the Peanut Curry which was tasty, and was given a filling portion. The place itself is a decent size, clean and nicely decorated. I recommend it, if you in the Lansing area. read more

This is the best Thai food place in the city. We reached pretty late there still we were welcomed. Staff is very humble. We tried crab fried rice and red curry with chicken, both were amazing :) I highly recommend the dessert named 'Fried banana with ice cream' read more

Wonderful food. I just moved to the area and was not expecting such good Thai food. Highly recommend!

Drunken noodles with chicken were delicious, with a slightly sweet n savory sauce, but not as spicy as I would have liked, even though I had asked for it to be spicy. Curry with chicken n potatoes in yellow coconut curry sauce was pretty good as well. Chicken dumplings were good and came with sweet soy sauce for dipping. Crab rangoons were good too n had a decent amount of filling, comes with sweet n sour dipping sauce. Thai iced tea was generic, but Thai lemon tea was better. read more

We stopped in for lunch on the way home and gorged ourselves on soups and appetizers. We'll be back for entrees but couldn't decide on one because everything looked so good. The dumplings were good, though I might have preferred the chicken be ground instead of diced. our group had mixed thoughts on the spring rolls. The Satay Chicken was stellar and the BBQ Beef was pretty good as well. The Tom Khas got thumbs up but my Tom Yum was a bit fishy for my taste. We'd look forward to our next meal there. read more

Service excellent. Ambiance find. Food bland , both mine and my partners. Pad Thai way to tasteless.

Was recommended by friends and was so excited, Until i got there...The most rude staff I have ever come in contact with. I won't take it out on their food because it was decent but their portions are not even explainable. So me and my cousin went in for lunch and ordered of the lunch menu, which is visually obvious from the dinner, and clearly told him what we wanted. They came out with two of the same dishes when we ordered two different ones and the order was wrong! Then they charged us for dinner menu prices and told US to make sure to make it clear.....then slammed the check and walked off. I am so disappointed and upset. read more

Pretty great Thai food in mid-Michigan. I usually order takeout, but the in-restaurant dining experience is fun too. I've ordered my dishes spicy and they don't disappoint. Good spice level but not overpowering. The fresh spring rolls are good. Can't go wrong with the noodles, curry or any of the soups. read more

Wow! I recently moved here from the San Francisco area and honestly didn't have high hopes to find a comparable Thai place here. Everything was amazing! Spring rolls, Tom Kha Gai (i always add extra veggies) , Pad Kee Mow, Papaya Salad (just the right amount of spicy) and had some bites of my friend's curry & some Pad Thai Best place I've found so far in Michigan. Def make the 45 min drive just for it. read more

I have been eating here on and off since they opened up a few years ago. The last time I went to this restaurant, they failed in such a catastrophic way that I will not return. I came in with 3 friends during the lunch rush on tuesday. It took them over an hour to take our orders and bring my food. It really wasn't my food because they got my order wrong, but I wasn't going to send it back because it had been an hour already. But don't worry, they hadn't finished making my day bad. They brought out our meals one at a time over 40 minutes. One of our party had finished their entree about 30 minutes before the last one received theirs. When we wanted to check out, the lady (I think she is part owner) told us that someone called in sick. She didn't offer to comp the meals or anything. Even if that were true, the service wasn't all that great to begin with, and their entrees are comically small. I recommend steering clear from Thai princess. read more

Very good. Our group got a wide variety of dishes all very good. Can't wait to try the Royal Oak location.

Masaman curry was delicious and good portions. Delivery was quick. Great dish to enjoy on a chilly rainy evening

Thai Princess is one of my favorite Thai Restaurants. This is a family run business. The food is great, which I usually order the dumplings. All of the entrees I have had have been great as well. The atmosphere within the restaurant is very cozy. I have gone a lot after MSU football games and it has never been busy. The only reason I didn't give it a 5/5 is the service is a little slow. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. read more

This place is OK, but given the quality of restaurants in the area I'm really not that surprised. The papaya salad is cut too thick and they way over charge for adding shrimp. The Tom Yum is good, but not worth the money to add shrimp. I added the shrimp and they gave me 2 really small ones. The Pad Thai is decent but the noodles were a bit over cooked. I really miss having good restaurants. read more

Loved this place! Came on a saturday night with a couple friends and there was no wait. Staff was very friendly and helpful with ordering. We got the tom yum soup to share (L for $8) and I had the yellow curry with chicken ($13). The soup was a little sweeter than I was used to, but very flavorful. The yellow curry was spicy and a good portion for the price. We ended up lingering at the table for a while after we paid, but the staff made sure we had plenty of water refills and never made us feel rushed. I will definitely be back! read more

This place has been open for a little over a week. Beautiful cozy restaurant with 14 tables set up. Service was good enough to keep up with a brisk lunch business. For $7.99, I got a lunch special shrimp and chicken pad thai. Included with the lunch entree was a very generous serving of tom yum soup, crab rangoon and a salad. Everything was excellent. Pad thai was the best I've had in the city! read more

I ate here after reading all of the positive reviews and at the recommendation of a coworker. The restaurant itself was very pleasant, the waitstaff was courteous and attentive and there is a 10% cash discount which was very nice. Two of us dined and our dinner consisted of satay, jungle curry, and peanut curry. The portions are small and the jungle curry and peanut curry were both rather bland and lacked any sort of salt. The ingredients were very fresh though and the eggplant in my dish was cooked perfectly. I ordered extra hot, but there still was not very much heat to the dish. The satay was excellent, but a bit pricy at $5.99 for four small skewers. With all of the other options for Thai food in the Lansing area, I probably won't be back. read more

It's always nice to see a new Thai restaurant in the area! The Yelp reviews were so good, and I'd been craving Thai, so we stopped in a few days before Christmas for dinner. I think the interior is really cute - it's not a huge restaurant, but it's cozy and they have some cool decor consisting of glass vases that are lit up and change colors through the evening. We started with the curry puffs, which was a pasty/empanada/samosa like appetizer of spiced chicken in a pastry. They were hot and crispy, and pretty yummy. Then we split Pad Thai, Masaman Curry, and a Mixed Vegetable stir fry. Everything was "fine." I was a little confused about why this place received so many raves, since it seemed quite average to me. I wasn't crazy about the pad thai - I was hoping for stronger flavors. The Masaman curry was tasty, but I've had better incarnations of the dish. The mixed vegetable stir-fry was a pretty generic mix, reminiscent of what you get in Chinese restaurants. It was all satisfying and we finished our meal happy, but I wasn't really taken by anything. We did enjoy learning from one of the women who works there (possibly an owner or cook?) that Thai people use chopsticks for noodles but NOT rice dishes. She thinks it's funny that Americans who want to be "authentic" use chopsticks with rice - she herself said she always uses a fork! People in other countries, China and Japan I suspect, do use chopsticks with rice, but apparently that is not Thai custom! Anyway, I think I've actually had better Thai food in other parts of Lansing, though I forget where, so I probably wouldn't be super eager to return here - it's nice that it's close to home, but other than that it seemed like an average offering. Lansing just needs better Thai! I feel like if you put this restaurant in Chicago, the food wouldn't hold up - this may be some of the best Lansing has to offer, but I don't think there are a lot of super options. I'm being too mean. It's totally fine. It just wasn't much beyond that! read more

This is just what the area needed. A small, yet sophisticated restaurant with character. Their tagline is "We are the same old Zabb Thai Manhattan, Queens, and Astoria in New York!", which I definitely believe after my experience at Thai Princess. To be honest, I did not particularly feel like Thai this evening, but happened to notice the restaurant driving by. Feeling up for trying something new, after dinner with a friend did not work out, I ended up at Thai Princess looking for a table for 1 at about 6:00pm on a Saturday. The seating is limited, probably 4-5 tables on two walls that can seat 4 and a center row of two 2-tops, plus a single, which is where I sat. I do admit, it wasn't ideal, but I wasn't feeling picky. Atmoshpere I was surprised at the sophistication of the decor, something I have yearned to see in the Greater Lansing area. It was simple, yet chic. The chairs were nice and comfortable, seemingly with a halfway decent leather and with dark-glittery backs, certainly befitting Thai culture with the 'gold' elements. The table was simply set up with a white plate, paper napkin and water glass. It would have been nice to have real cloth napkins, as the paper napkin didn't quite fit with the rest of the decor, but I am giving them the benefit of the doubt that it will be a future upgrade. Due to the small space, every time the door opened, it let in the cold, which is something I think can be remedied. In the meantime, make reservations and ask for something either on the left wall or towards the back. Price The appetizers ran from $3.99 to $7.99, which is hard to justify for a single person dining. That being said, seeing what was served around me, you certainly would be getting enough for the price of the appetizer as all seemed to be sizeable enough to share between 3-4 people. The prices for main entrees is extremely reasonable, most around (or less than) $10, with only very few dishes surpassing the $10 mark. Service The servers/host were very welcoming and warm. Having grown up in restaurants (4-5 restaurants owned by extended/immediate family) and worked in the restaurant industry throughout college, I have a certain tolerance and understanding for waitservice. Being a low-maintenance single diner, I was not often looked after, meaning my glass of water was empty for quite a while until I was ready to leave before being asked to have it re-filled. But, to their defense, there was significant traffic, people around me waiting to be seated and others higher maintenance than I: those asking for specific tables and otherwise being very picky. Welcome to Okemos. It was evident that most of the patrons entering the restaurant had come upon recommendation and they were coming in consistently. Food Starting of with a Thai Iced Tea, which was delicious, I did end up ordering an appetizer: the Fresh Roll, which was essentially a fresh spring roll. It was very nice, large and cut up into four pieces, just right for two or four people as a starter. I didn't finish, nor intended to spoil the remainder of the dinner. For the main entree, I went with the suggestion of my server/host, who I suspect may have been the manager and possibly even one of the owners. I typically love Pannang Curry, but the suggestion was for the Drunken Noodle (Pad Khee-Mhow) and for the meat I opted for chicken. I asked for it 'medium' spicy, though knowing that most mediums in Thai restaurants is pretty spicy, even for me. The dish was excellent. It was simple, yet sophisticated. It was a wonderful blend of sweet and spicy (yet a hint too spicy for me). The spices and elements of the dish seemed almost perfectly balanced as a whole, yet your tastebuds could experience each flavor as it was intended. Summary I do enjoy other Thai restaurants in the area, but this restaurant is on a different level. They seem to have the big-city experience of knowing you can't just be another 'acceptable' restaurant and have the sophistication in their food to keep the people coming. I foresee this restaurant doing well, even for the dinner period, which is not always easy for Asian establishments in this area. It has a chic atmosphere, almost making you forget where you are, the food is sophisticated and unique compared to the pricier establishements in the area, and the price is more than acceptable for the quality you receive. read more

I travel A LOT. Including many trips to Thailand. I can honestly say that Thai Princess is hands down the BEST and most authentic Thai that my wife and I have found. Every time we come to Lansing we make it point to eat here. The food is excellent and the staff is always courteous. You should be able to quench your Thai thirst here. Who knows...if I keep asking for coconut ice cream they may get it someday. :) read more

This place has potential. I've been here twice. The first time, I was disappointed... as an earlier reviewer pointed out, the food here is WAY to sweet. The default spice levels suit a more Americanized palate. Even the tom yum soup was weirdly sweet, and the dipping sauce for the spring rolls was viscous and sticky like corn syrup. PRO TIP: ASK if they can make the dishes LESS SWEET, especially if you like more traditional Thai flavors. The second time I went, I asked for more spice/less sweet. My red curry came out just the way it should taste: very spicy, rich, a little sweet, a little sour. If you don't ask, though, you'll get the default cloyingly sweet, not very spicy food. Also they are super nice about adjusting the seasoning it if you ask. I still think they could improve their dishes a little by giving more rice/noodles in some of the dishes and it's a on the pricey side for what you get. But I'm still really happy to see some more options here in the Lansing area. read more

It was a sunny and warm Tuesday afternoon, my fiancé was craving fried rice, she said, innocently, cutely, what about Thai? I said? Thai? She said, yes did you not hear me, Thai! I said oh yes, Thai. Ok, long story short, Thai Princess was fantastic. The curry puffs were soooo good, and the pad Thai which I find often is either too dry, too peanutty, or too soupy, wasn't any of these. It was perfect. Very Spicy, but soooo delicious, it's my new favorite. Thai Princess for the win!!! read more

THAI PRINCESS IS THE BEST EVER. I've had Thai food in lots of major cities including NYC several times. I'm obsessed with Thai Princess. It's the best. The waitstaff is super friendly and wonderful and everything on the menu is delicious. Like, crazy delicious. Way better than you think. Like, I get chills when I eat the mango curry. If you want "giant portions" or your order custom-made to be spicy or mild, go to Wendy's and get a spicy chicken sandwich (not that there is anything wrong with Wendy's). Don't go to No Thai or Taste of Thai or any of that other ersatz Thai food. The food at Thai Princess is made by masters, and it's prepared to perfection. Really good Thai food isn't about spice, it's about complex, rich, herbal flavors and mingling of sweetness, creaminess, and spicy notes. The presentation of food is always top-notch--extremely artful, colorful, and tasteful. The attention to detail is astonishing. THE RICE COMES IN THE SHAPE OF A HEART. I just fainted. Also did I mention it's delicious? I go here every time my best friend visits from Utah, and she also agrees that it's the best Thai of all time and place. One time they mixed up our order and brought us the wrong curries BUT IT DIDN'T MATTER BECAUSE IT WAS ACTUALLY MORE DELICIOUS THAN WHAT WE ORDERED. I would drive two hours to go to Thai Princess, and sometimes I do. read more

Again this place used to really good when they first opened. READ ON! My recent visit has continued to prove that their food is now very much subpar. The food is no longer consistent! Their ingredients are not lined up with what is on the menu! Due to the fact that Chinese Broccoli is expensive, they are substituting ASPARAGUS, which they cut to look like Chinese Broccoli! It is shame that they are doing this to trick the customers! CLEARLY, the menu said the fried rice included cashews. They "FORGOT?" to put cashews in my rice and played it off like "oh well" The carrots in the dishes beside the garnish carrot is not COOKED! Come on! You know better to precook the damn carrot before throwing it in to fry it! The carrots are tough and tasteless! Their FLAT NOODLES USED to be FRESH! Now they are just using dried flat noodles in replacement, it taste completely different and the texture is completely different! FIX THIS or else DO NOT ORDER ANY FLAT NOODLES MY FRIENDS! YOU will be disappointed! The DUCK......where do I start.... The FRIED DUCK was soggy...... clearly the person cooking did not have the oil up to the right temperature. I mean How do you have a FRIED DUCK dish be SOGGY??? BASICS COME ON! LASTLY, MOST IMPORTANT! CHECK YOUR PRICING! MY BILL was wrong! then it was FIXED WRONG AGAIN! and AGAIN! Make sure you memorize the prices on the initial menu because on your CHECK IT IS DIFFERENT! MAKE SURE THEY ARE NOT RIPPING you off because they are too damn lazy to make the changes or genuinely RIPPING you off without a genuine apology. GET IT TOGETHER! ALL these years, you still have failed! DONE WITH THIS PLACE FOR GOOD! read more
