Had dinner there tonight. It started out really well but quickly went downhill. Ordered the fried spring roll appetizers. They came out nice, hot and perfectly crispy. The filling was made of rice noodles which were flavorful & super delicious. I also ordered the Tom Kha soup. It was different from others I've had but still very tasty. It was also piping hot. I enjoyed these two items very much and was anticipating how delicious the main entree would be. Man, was it ever a very big let down. I ordered Lad Nar with shrimp & it came out looking really good but pretty fast while I was still mid-way through my appetizers & soup so I ate faster so my main meal wouldn't cool off too much because I do like hot my dishes hot. Anyway, good waiters & the kitchen paces the timing well & watches the guests to make sure you don't get the entree with your apps. However, that was the least of my problems. As I was almost done with the apps, I started on the main & attempted to mix the noodles with the shrimp, broccoli & sauce. which were placed on top of a bed of noodles. But most of the noodles were stuck together in an almost inseparable clump. I did my best to separate it by cutting it with a butter knife. After that ordeal of separating the clump, the waiter came to my table & other table next to mine & gave us the bill. I figured it was because it was nearing closing time. I put the bill to the side and then tasted the noodles with sauce which was good so I dug right into the juicy-looking shrimp & immediately could tell something was off. As I chewed into the shrimp, I could taste it was raw & spit it right out. I then cut into each shrimp of the 6 shrimp in the dish & they were all raw inside, though appeared to be cooked on the surface. I signaled the waiter who was also the cashier & told him that the shrimp was still raw. He apologized & asked "should I have the kitchen fix it?" I replied "yes, but if not, I can always order a different entree." He then took it away to the kitchen so I worked on finishing my apps. He came back with the "fixed" dish of Lad Nar. It looked great but now instead of 6 shrimp, the new dish came out with 4 shrimp which I cut into again & were cooked just right. But the kitchen gave me more surprises. I don't know how they did it but the sauce was hot yet the noodles had cold clumps in it. Also, some, but not all, pieces of broccoli were cold. Another disappointing aspect was the service. I wasn't expecting 4 star service from a tiny restaurant but maybe cashiers should not also be waiting on customers because he seemed to be very distracted taking phone orders and servicing pick up customers. Anyway, he asked the other table if he could clear their dishes, yet did not clear my appetizer dishs & soup bowl when I was done. He asked the other table if they wanted refills on water. He did not ask me. When he took the raw shrimp Lad Nar from me, he also took my silverware & napkin. When he brought the "fixed" dish back to the table he forgot to bring anything for me to eat it with. I waited a minute thinking he was just turning around to get it but he just started doing stuff at the counter. I waked up & asked for utensils & napkin. I was about to bring the 3 dishes from my apps to him but it's really not my job to be clearing the table. I also wanted to return the second "fixed" dish back to the kitchen but figured they would prob just throw it at me at that point. I'm really not a picky eater but raw and cold and clumpy are not my cup of tea. I wanted to tell the cashier/waiter/cashier, so he could convey these problems to the kitchen, what I really thought about the meal so I did, in a calm, soft voice, so the single remaining customer could eat without getting ill...which I still might after eating raw shrimp, I explained to him how much I enjoyed the apps and very good soup, but told him the 2nd dish came back to my table had some cold noodles, some cold broccoli and short on shrimp. His exact and only response to me was "Yeah? Ok?" So this is why I don't think I'll ever be coming back here again. And, I don't feel bad leaving substandard tip. Would you? read more

My boyfriend and I went here on a whim because our usual Thai place was closed (it was Sunday) and I am SO happy we did. Our waitress was super sweet and very helpful when we asked about the spice levels. I also LOVED my meal and so did my boyfriend. I was so excited when I found this on Yelp and read all the positive reviews... Ordered $45.00 worth of takeout and was VERY disappointed! I will NOT be back. The Pad Thai was very dry! The noodles were not fully cooked and the chicken was charred. Also, I ordered the Pad Prik with Beef AND Chicken, the Beef is very thin sliced beef (maybe 6 slices total) and the sauce was WATERY and TASTELESS. AND the white rice wasn't even fully cooked! Wonderful Thai food, best in the downriver area. Great staff, very friendly. Only thing I actually miss about living in Southgate is this place. Now open on Sundays which is great and probably a good call considering how busy it was the last time I went there on a Sunday. Food is average Thai. For the area you are limited on Thai so you have to settle for places like this. I eat here often and will never eat in the restaurant again, take out only. It is one of the most uncomfortable atmospheres to eat in. Very small, no music, sometimes their kids run around. One of the only times I dined in their kid came up to my table and stomped on my foot and kept annoying the patrons. Overall, average Thai and only good for carry out. read more

I usually get the curry dishes here. Food is decent, if you have a craving for Thai, it will work. Not many Thai restaurants downriver. But is it Bangkok 96 or Sala Thai downtown? No. But good enough for a thai fix. The restuaruant is very nice inside, but small, maybe 8 tables. In the winter it seems like all the warm air gets sucked out whenever anyone walks in. This place is GREAT, and take it from me - I am very, very picky about Thai food, and actually know a good deal about it and when it's authentic or not. This place is the best in central and southern downriver. I recently moved to the southern downriver area, which is a veritable international food desert. Here in Downriver, the locals think sushi is just something you buy pre-made from the Kroger on Gibraltar Rd, the closest authentic Chinese is Ann Arbor or Troy (45 minutes away), Vietnamese and Korean food don't even exist down here, there's only one good Middle Eastern restaurant, and basically everything else is just crappy 'Italian', generic Chinese-American, and seemingly more Coney Islands than there are stars in the sky!!! Thai restaurants only appeared in this part of town within the last 5 years or so. The whole three choices you have in terms of Thai food are Jee's Top Five in Wyandotte (HOT MESS - AVOID AT ALL COSTS), Coastal Thai, also in Wyandotte (pretty good but very Hmong-style) and Thai Place in Southgate, which is my favorite. The flavors are all really good and the spice levels are no joke. The service is always very friendly, though I don't think that the rather flamboyant young male employee quite understands that you should actually wait to say 'goodbye' until the customer actually is leaving (for carryouts, he always says 'okehhhhhhhhhhhhhhh thankyousomuchhaveaniceday byebyyyyyyyyyyyye' while the credit card machine is printing your receipt to sign, and you then feel hurried to leave); I'm gonna chalk it up to something lost in translation/cultural differences. The only reason I give 4 stars and not 5 is because there's a tiny bit of inconsistency with the saltiness, oiliness, and textures of the vegetables here. It's minimal, but it does occasionally exist. Either way, this place is quaint and cute and the food is consistently 'on point'. Prices are reasonable and the flavors and ingredients are authentic. Worst service ever. I called to place an order to go which was a soup and a spring roll (which to me is quite simple and wouldn't take super long to make). The woman told me 20 minutes. After about 25 minutes I arrive and said I was picking up. The lady just says very rudely "yeah it's not ready yet" and walked away. So I sat down and waited at one of the tables while several people came in getting their orders and leaving. The lady working continued serving people food not letting me know if my food was running late or asking me anything. After sitting there for 25 minutes I got up and left I was too pissed off to even ask about my food. It had been a total of 50 minutes who knows if they even forgot my food or not the service is SO horrible I would never give this place a chance read more

The walls are banged up and the rugged is well used from all the foot traffic, but the food was excellent. I have been to Thailand before and this is pretty authentic. Thai waiter was pretty cool and attentive and the food came out at a reasonable time despite the heavy crowd. read more

This is a hit or miss place. Their pad Thai is very good but the drunken noodles and pad see ew were both very salty. The tom yum soup is fair. I'd rather drive a bit farther to coastal Thai in Wyandotte our Bangkok 96 in Dearborn. If you are just a pad Thai fan, this is a great option. read more

I go here mainly for the pad Thai as this is the dish that they do anywhere from good to excellent. I've been to many Thai restaurants in metro Detroit and nobody else does nearly as good a job. The dining area is getting a little tacky and the carpets are in dire need of a good cleaning but this seems to be very common with Chinese/Asian restaurants. We often order carry out from here, but this past time we got home and our food was not mild at all. It was extremely spicy. When we called to see if it could be corrected they asked us to bring it back and so I did and then told us they wouldn't put shrimp in our new order because we have eaten some from the previous order. After she said this she kept going about how some if the food was gone. Which we had told them on the phone we took 4 bites. This lady was rude and kept trying to talk over me. Our first time here, and will not be back for several reasons. First it was a Sunday and apparently the staff enjoys football on a tv in the kitchen, and the Packers had a rough start to their game since the staff took to throwing things around back there. The one and only waitress was so into the game she started yelling before she even got into the kitchen. I wish I were joking but, the only other person in the dining room was obviously a regular because HE apologized for the ruckus, and we overheard his conversation with her about the noise - he asked if something got dropped but she promptly replied 'no, I was throwing stuff at the door'. Secondly, it's Thai food so be very, very careful ordering. My husband and I both ordered ours 'hot' but mine was literally inedible. And as the Lions game had ended pick up business picked up, and we hear her asking everyone what level of spicy they want...she didn't give us that scale of spicy or warning she is giving them. And now I'm sitting here with food I can't eat. Upon getting the bill I see mine is 'X hot' -yeah! Extra hot! Why? We both ordered the same...was she distracted by the game? read more

The food is usually good but their service and attitudes suck. The restaurant was so cold I had to change my order to a to go order because it was too cold to eat there. They stated the heat was on 78 but there was an obvious space heater in the middle of the dinning room that obviously wasn't working well. If you can't afford to fix your heat or at least apologize for it, make your establishment a carry out only establishment. Additionally I asked for them to fill my Thai ice tea up all the way and it looks like they just filled it with more creamer, ewwww!!!!!! Very good thai food. Curry fried rice is delicious. Pad thai is quality. Spring rolls are fresh and crispy. I've tried a lot of the items on the menu and have yet to find one that didn't have good flavor. Interior is very small but clean and quiet. Every once in a while there will be a younger kid hanging out in the restaurant; probably one of the owners' children. So if you're trying to get away from kids for a meal, there's a slight chance you'll be disappointed. Oh, and they're open on Sunday! Very happy for that! Two years ago, this was my favorite Thai restaurant I'm sad to say that consistently over the last year, the food has gotten worse and worse with each order. As I told my husband after we ordered his last time, it's time to find a new Thai restaurant. The food is okay but they are incredibly rude. I use to come often but I took my mom here for the 1st time and she wanted to get the food to go. After ordering and paying we sat and waited. After about 10 minutes my mom asked the lady working in the front was it ok if we could change our minds and dine in. The lady got loud and started going off about a service charge and my mom confused asked what do you mean a tip? The lady's like Idc if you tip but ppl come in here and order their food to go and eat in our dining room and thats not right. We didn't even have our food yet. I've been to a few Thai restaurants here and there and Thai Place stands out amongst them all. Each dish is unique, and has all the flavors you could want. I get the dishes with medium spice which I feel is perfect. The dish I loved most out of all of them was the noodle dish. C9 I think. This is not my first time experiencing this. My company go there for lunch basically everyday. Every time they come back, they complain about the service. I always tell them that it is nothing, iti probably the way they are. I went there today to get the food that I ordered, I walked in and the lady she calls her self the MANAGER, OWNER already had a attitude but i didnt mind it. When i reach to give her the money, the grabbed it with tip of her fingers like it was dirty money and she didn't want to touch my hand. When I got to work, i still felt uncomfortable and really sad so i called to complain about my experience. i wanted to know if it was just me or if it was a problem. the OWNER once again put me on hold and then told me that she did not have a attitude and if she did she will tell me. ?????????? now how is that professional? I am trying to tell you how i felt and you tell me that you are not racist because you re not American, you are Asian and an immigrant?
