If I've said this once, I've said this 1000 times Panang is a traditional Thai dish. It also can be used as a measuring stick to the authenticity of any Thai restaurant. Panang is only cooked one way and whenever a Thai restaurant asks you how spicy you want it, this is not traditional Thai cooking. I ordered the chicken Penang medium, and it was absolutely inedible. If you look at the photographs, that's what I left at the restaurant. The waitress asked if I needed a box and I told her this belongs in the garbage. I told her if that's medium I would hate to see what spicy is. Her response was "super hot for you?" This was super hot for the devil himself! This place is absolutely at the bottom of anyone's list when it comes to Thai cooking. You will serve yourself better by going to Trader Joe's and getting a Penang dish out of their freezer section. The girl who took my order asked what kind of protein do I want with it. Assuming it came with protein I said I would like egg. Pick up my order and get home. To my surprise it's just noodles and egg. I called and spoke with the girl who took my order. She said she would call her manager to see if a solution could be reached. Ok. No problem. The girl calls me back and tells me unfortunately there is nothing that they can do. To top it off the girl tells me that I NEED TO BE MORE SPECIFIC WITH MY ORDER and that I did not order a veggie pad Thai. Um what???? Lmao How much more specific do I need to be? Do you want me to go into detail of the shape and color of the veggies it says it comes with??? So apparently customer service is dead here and they like to gaslight their customers. I had a taste for Pra Ram Long Song (stir-fried chicken with steamed broccoli and steamed napa cabbage; topped with a creamy Thai peanut sauce [think thinner version of peanut satay sauce]. This is one of the only places in the area that makes this dish and they do it well. This is one of my favorite Thai dishes. If you like peanut satay sauce, do yourself a favor and try this dish. Also had a bowl of Tom Kha Gai (one of the best Tom Kha Gai soups in the area). Had a great Thai ice tea too. This restaurant is small and "spartan" inside, but they know how to cook. read more

We drove from Toledo to checkout this place based on a recommendation I read on Yelp. It was decent, but the dining room is not very inviting. My favorite local Thai place has not had inside dining since Covid and we've been looking for a place that has dine in. The service was excellent, but the food was just above average. I've been coming here several times this year and it's been outstanding. Along with co-workers new to the area loving the food! I have been kicking up the heat, even asking for crushed peppers (which they give in a little plastic container). Oh boy does it kick it up a notch. I ordered today... I like what I like and that's Pad Thai, even if it's the newbie dish. I will say that the spice level is questionable. I ordered medium and it's def mild. Sometimes it's the opposite. But flavor is outstanding and I think increased by the lower spice level. You get all the flavors without the heat. It honestly reminded me of my first Thai orders that were mild. Time to experiment. Obviously, customer service is not their strong suit, and obviously the people working there can't figure out how to help guide in the ordering process. I ordered satay and gang gai with tofu. Both were inedible. The satay was dry and over cooked. The tofu was rubbery. There was hardly any vegetables. I found half a mushroom, 2 small pieces of green pepper, and a few slivers of bamboo sticks. Definitely not worth the money. Shaky to begin with--who wants to help babysit the owner-family's children, as they play loud computer games in the dining room and wander around?--this place has never recovered from Covid, when the unmasked and ungloved kitchen staff could be seen from the pick-up desk through the doorway. They now store unused food and cleaning supplies in the dining room--so if you want to eat beside bags of rice, brooms and mops and boxes of other things, stacked along one wall in the very small space, go right ahead. Today I could hear shouting as I crossed the parking lot, and entered to find an employee in a heated 'discussion' with a customer. They resolved the issue--but the employee kept on yelling, in the kitchen, for several minutes. I told my server that I would not stay if this continued, and then left after several minutes. Visited here again recently and it's still so good! Hot tip: it's also the only downriver Thai restaurant open on Sundays. During lunch they also have free hot and sour soup with your meal and it's fantastic (especially on a cold day). The curry here is delish ( I recommend the green), and of course you also can't go wrong with noodle classics like pad Thai, drunken noodles, and pad see ew The spring rolls here are fabulous (and only $1.25 per). Thai place in Southgate was my favorite Thai restaurant of all time. Like I literallly eat here 2-3x month for the last 5 years and as of today, I'll never do business with them again. The owner is rude AF and literally told us "if you don't like the way we cook make your own food or go somewhere else. Never come here again." it's not funny but I couldn't believe the way she was acting! Mind you everyone was calm and content and we simply asked her to remake the rice OR issue a refund because the rice was over cooked/mushy and there wasn't any sweet chili sauce in it. She had the nerve to say IF she remakes it she has to take the shrimp from our current portion to make the new batch with. She also said she will have to count each piece because shrimp is expensive. if we ate any of the shrimp we can't be refunded. She's also not willing to remake it because "it's going to be the same." She was verrrryyy rude... yelling and screaming into the phone for 7 minutes and telling us not to order food from them again. A charming little restaurant that dishes up really good and close to authentic Thai food as it can get. It's sort of the better Thai restaurants downriver without it being quite americanized. The host spoke thai, so did the chef/cook and even their kids that run around. This is a clear indication that this is a true Thai restaurant. The spice level on their dishes is no joke as well, so if you're a true enthusiast, you'll definitely respect this joint. We had their coconut curry with squid and their drunken noodles. Both were super delish, I never had both these dishes and it was phenomenal. I couldn't really have a basis and it is now my measuring stick for coconut curry and drunken noodles. This place has tables for you to place your food in, chairs to sit and the dining area is heated in the winter and cooled in the summer. What more can you ask for? This review is for takeout during the week for dinner. The restaurant was quiet and placing our order over the phone was very easy and didnt take too long to make. I think it was about 20 minutes. The food tastes great! There was a good amount of food too. Enough for small leftovers after dinner. The price was a bit high though. $10 for takeout rice and $11 for takeout noodles is definitely on the high side by about $1-2. That's the reason for 4 stars instead of 5. Then I saw something strange on my plate. It looks like a fried catapillar! Everytime i come here the food never disappoints. Their flavors are spot on, their "heat" levels in the food are spot on. The service i recieve over the phone & inside is great I regularly order chicken pad thai "medium heat". Their portion size even for lunches is very close to the dinner sizes. You do recieve more with dinner sizes But honestly in my opinion it just depends what time of day you order. Their spring rolls thank goodness are $1.00, because they are super delicious so i usually order about 3. The inside is small. So I usually see people getting take out over dining in. If you are a sit and eat person i would suggest going at low traffic times. If you go during rush hour, people coming and going picking up take out could disrupt your "dine-in" experience. Your wait timw for food is usually the standard 10-15 minutes. I have never had an issue with timing or pickups. And the staff is always friendly This is my GO TO Thai food spot. Check it out. AWFUL CUSTOEMR RELATIONS. Before the terrible storm yesterday, a man ordered carry out. I was also waiting for carryout. Other than us two, there wasn't any other customers in the place. He had just gotten off work and the storm hit. It was pouring outside. They brought this man his food and he proceeded to take an empty seat and eat some of his food so he didn't have to take his food out in the rain to be drenched. This establishment MADE this man leave. They have no heart. Who does this to a man who just gave you his hard-earned money? There weren't any other customers he was disturbing. They could've let this go being as there was heavy rains and 60 mph winds. I'm guessing they lost two customers yesterday, myself and the man who was kicked out. And I'm honestly hoping a few more people will read this and decided they don't want to give their money to a business who treats their customers like that. read more
