Tom Yum Soup was creamy and delicious.
Craig W.

There is a weird psychological phenomenon where the closer you are to something interesting, the less likely you are to visit it. There are people who probably live five miles from the Grand Canyon who have never seen it and probably think they will get around to seeing it one of these days. And then they die or move and never see it. I realize it is just a bit of a minor stretch to compare a Thai restaurant with the Grand Canyon but here we are. I have driven by this restaurant, sometimes multiple times a day, probably a thousand times in my life. I have heard many good things. I have just never visited until now. It is beautiful inside. The decor is gorgeous. The lighting is excellent. There is live music (in fact, very good live music during our visit). They have an insane happy hour, every day, from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m., I believe. There is a happening bar scene, if that is your thing. The food is solid. We tried the Tom Yum soup with chicken added (th soup was very coconut-y and creamy), the Pad Thai with shrimp (delicious), and the red curry with shrimp (also, delicious). The portion sizes were generous. The Thai iced coffee was very nice. My martini was fine. The chicken in the soup was not, in my opinion, of the highest of highest quality. And the martini, which was very normal sized (and I am talking about martinis, not anything else), was a very painful and un-normal-sized $19. That hurt a little bit. Service was friendly and homey and wonderful. Our water glasses were constantly re-filled and we were constantly checked up on. This is a delightful, lively restaurant and it has a lot to offer (decor, music, food, service, atmosphere). I am ashamed it has taken be far too long to visit. And, for what it is worth, I have visited the Grand Canyon, even though I live nowhere near it, and it is also wonderful. Also, unlike at Thai One On, there is no Thai food available at the Grand Canyon, so keep that in mind.

Golden flowers and half moon ton Yes- they're all winners Lisa-staff did a great job explaining I love the live music. Gentleman is a great singer. He has a variety of tunes on guitar and piano. Fun place to try

Great ambience, would make a good date spot. Food is great, a little on the pricier side, but very welcoming service from the bar tender.

My wife and I have been searching North County for years for same, to no avail - so we readily accepted. We arrived a few minutes before 1pm - and our first thought was - what a strange location. About a block off of Carlsbad Village Drive, but nothing else really around to drive foot traffic. Our second thought was - ok, where's the entrance? We did a complete loop before finding it, and headed upstairs to the restaurant. And our third thought was - where IS everyone? Total ghost town - and to be honest, at that point, I was pretty sure that this was yet another poor attempt at an authentic Thai restaurant. And - I was wrong. Our friends arrived shortly, and we sat down and perused the menu - even though we all kinda knew what we wanted, we wanted to see what else was out there - and good thing we did, as my wife changed her mind and went with Pumpkin Curry. I, being a total creature of habit, went with Yellow Chicken Curry with no onion - and an appetizer of Chicken Satay. Our friends ordered also, starting with Drunken noodles, another Yellow Curry (with tofu), and Rad Na (pork version). Let me interrupt this with a quick aside - the waitress was absolutely wonderful during the order process. For each entree, she specifically asked the spice level (1-10), and delivered somewhat accordingly. The food started arriving shortly thereafter - and there was a LOT of food arriving! The only nit I had was that, in my demented brain, appetizers show up before the main course. In this case, everything arrived together. That said, the main courses were incredible (and again, HUGE). While I would submit that while I asked for a spice level of 10, I got more of a 4 or 5, but when Thais see blonde hair blued eyed white guys, they tend to assume (usually correctly) that they have no idea what they're asking for. In my case, they were wrong. No biggie, I'm used to it, and next time, will definitely up the ante on the spice issue. My wife LOVED her Pumpkin Curry, and our friends enjoyed their meals as well. They pretty much finished off the Drunken Noodles, so clearly that was a hit. The only other nit that I ran into was the Chicken Satay. These things were HUGE - so much so that I could cut them in half along the length, and make a huge chicken sandwich. I've never seen it done this way - but my wife and I split one and took the rest home - that's how huge they were. The peanut sauce was amazing, as was the Thai Cucumber Salad (actually one of the better ones I've had - in California OR Thailand - it was that good). Bottom line, a worthy discovery, AND they use Door Dash - so we'll be eating Aroi Thai - Carlsbad quite a bit going forward - actually real Thai in North County....outstanding!!!

The menu isn't extensive but offers you the typical dishes you would hope to find at a Thai eatery. Here you will find tom yum soup, 3 different kind of stir fry noodle dishes, 3 fried rice options, and curry. I went with the shrimp pad thai, requesting for the peanuts to be placed on the side, followed by a few drinks. Cook time took a while. I did keep in mind that the flow of customers were plentiful and this just meant my food was made fresh. You are provided with a food beeper and are alerted to come up when your order is ready. The food itself looked good although the portion was a little skimpy. Maybe it was the large bowl that it is served in or maybe it was the food rush?? The noodles were coated completely in the tamarind sauce- so much that the dish was quite mushy. The shrimp was cooked well. 3 stars. The food is okay and the customer service is legit. The staff can be a little bit more generous with the napkins though...

My husband and I tried this Thai restaurant for the first time after seeing its impressive 4.7/5…read morerating from 332 reviews, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. It's officially our new favorite Thai spot -- even though it's an hour's drive from home. Truly worth the trip. We started with the $18 sampler platter, which was such a great value. It came with three of each item: onion rings, coconut shrimp, dumplings, crab rangoons, and egg rolls. Everything was perfectly crunchy and flavorful, and it stayed crunchy the whole time. The crab rangoon especially stood out -- generously filled instead of the tiny smear we're used to elsewhere. I ordered a $6 matcha milk tea (no boba), served in a huge to‑go cup. It was smooth, lightly sweet, and had a lovely hint of jasmine that made it feel extra special. For my entrée, I had the $15 chicken pad thai (spice level 1), and it was phenomenal -- easily one of the best I've ever had. All the classic flavors were perfectly balanced: peanut, lime, green onion, tamarind, fish sauce, and that touch of palm or brown sugar. My husband ordered the $15 chicken yellow curry, and the portion size surprised him -- he's used to small servings that leave him wanting more, but this one was generous and satisfying. His rice came shaped like a heart, which was such a cute touch. He said the curry was incredibly delicious and the best he's had anywhere aside from what we make at home. His only small gripe was that he wished the potatoes were cooked a little softer, but it didn't take away from how much he enjoyed it. The ambiance was beautiful -- a well‑maintained space filled with classy Thai décor that made the whole experience feel warm and inviting. The staff were friendly, attentive, and checked on us frequently without hovering. Overall, everything was delicious, the prices were great, and the entire experience was wonderful from start to finish. We loved it here and will definitely be back whenever we're in the area!
