This is a new cute restaurant on Main Street which adds a desperately needed Asian eatery serving very delicious Thai and other Asian dishes fresh out of the kitchen. Small seating area inside and a sidewalk table. We had a chicken and green beans rice plate (wonderful spices) and a rice noodle and chicken breast garlicky dish -- authentic and plentiful for lunch. We go to Placerville every few months to knock around Main St. This time we decided to try some Thai food and ended up here - a very small place near the Hangtown Belltower. It's nothing more than a narrow gash in a vast facing of storefronts - easy to miss if you're not looking for it. The tiny kitchen is larger than the dining area, which seats a grand total of 11 inside and two outside. There's is counter service, but the actual counter seems the size of a postage stamp. You have to wedge-in tight to place an order. That doesn't keep folks from coming, though. It was consistently busy on a wet and overcast Friday afternoon. The menu here includes some classic Thai selections as well as pho and several ramen dishes. We chose spicy chicken and eggplant, yellow chicken curry with vegetables and brown rice, an order of edamame, and two Thai teas. All were very good. After strolling along Main St. following our lunch we stopped in again for takeout, for dinner - spicy chicken wings, pad Thai, fried rice and an order of ramen. It all held-up well on the 30-mile drive home and made for a fine evening meal. Only two comments I would offer: 1) I watched my edamame being prepared. It came out of a frozen package that looked like it was purchased at Smart and Final and was zapped in the microwave. I coulda done that at home. 2) The small size of the restaurant means that customers should be prepared to wait awhile for their orders, which contradicted our perception on-approach. "Express" usually denotes quickness. The wait-time is as long as many full-service joints, but the food is prepared the right way - no short cuts other than the edamame. This restaurant opened in January. We wish it well and hope it's successful enough to move to a larger space. read more

I love this place!!!! My favorite is the Spicy Tonkatsu Shoyu Ramen. SO SO GOOD!!! I'm trying to break down why I love this so much but I can't. It's everything! Broth, noodles, pork (melts in your mouth!). I especially loved that they were able to make it extra spicy for me. My husband loves the Ramen also but also tried the Pho. Excellent!! Mediocre hole in the wall. Stopped in on a Monday on our way through town. The place was sweltering hot so no reprieve from the heat outside. Our interaction with the younger guy at the counter was somewhat awkward and we weren'tquite sure what to make of it. The selection of three soft drinks was rather disappointing. After an hour's ride in the heat ice cold water sounded awesome, but the tepid tap water that we got just didn't quite hit the spot. Even my slightly cold coke from a can (no glass with ice) was pretty lame. When I asked the awkward guy for ice he shoveled it out of a small igloo.. reassuring. On the up side the food was above average. I had the pad gai while the better half of present company had the pad thai. All in all though we're not likely to come back. read more

Great basic Thai menu plus some other Asian favorites. We had the masaman curry, pho chicken and teriyaki chicken. All were really good. I would have given them 5 stars, but there are a couple of limitations. First, they don't allow you to use their bathroom and we're unable to direct is to a public one nearby. I'm not sure that's even legal, but it's certainly not too nice when you can see their restroom from the dining room. Secondly, there is very little seating. With 3 couples in there​ (and we were outside), it was packed. So, it's mostly takeout with restaurant prices. Anyway, great food and hard to complain on that front. We found parking, looked up and there was Thai Noodle Express! It is a classic hole in the wall restaurant with no air conditioning and barely 5 tables including the two outside. The kind gentleman that serves is recommended the pad tai and another dish we had never had, both were excellent! Came here during the quarantine and got takeout. While they seem to be taking solid measures for social distancing, their food was the worst Thai food we've had. We both got the drunken noodle and it did NOT have neither chili or basil like they say on the menu. It was just a soy sauce noodle. This place is good. Not great but good and they have good ramen too. This is my third time being here and again the food was good. The service is fast. The issue that I have is with how small and hot the space is. Also these people aren't very friendly. They are at most cordial. My main reason for a 2 star review is on my second visit here, they had let me use their bathroom. It's a small location and a bathroom is a long walk away. But the third time I was here they told me there was no bathroom to use. It was a very hot day and I had a lot of water to drink. I also had already tipped them 20% before I received my food. I guess that just goes to show to never tip before your finished with your experience at a restaurant! read more

Tried to order over the phone but they were busy. Walked in and ordered the standard Pad Thai. Wait 10 min and tasted like noodles with ketchup, no Thai flavors at all. Also asked for extra boba, paid $1 extra and she gave me a cup of literally 10 extra boba balls for $1!! Wanted to support and like it but too bland, no taste or spices at all. One of the worst Thai food we had in California! We ordered Thai fried rice and found hair particles in our rice about 3 pieces of hair. Being a tourist, we traveled through and picked up some food and was disappointed. We got the summer rolls and the shrimps was spoiled. The way they made the summer rolls is like they cut up the vegetables in big sizes and wrapped it up. Our next order was pad Thai which was also bad. After eating it my son's stomach was having issues. The price was $70 and we felt ripped off cuz we couldn't eat the food and finding hair in our rice we definitely appetizer killer. We ordered the spicy eggplant and we also ordered the shrimp ramen and a side of brown rice.....when we got home our order had no side of brown rice, the eggplant had chicken in it which was not listed as an ingredient in this dish on the menu.... we would not have ordered if it did list it. The ramen had 4 pieces of shrimp....which for 14.95 was a bit steep for the portion...The person at the counter is overwhelmed....taking phone orders, taking counter orders, making tea...so our to go order ended up sitting at a table for 10 minutes before he told us our order was ready to go..... read more

My first time experience was not good. Did a phone order for pick up. They messed up my order, which I didn't notice until I got back to work. So I called to let them know, the person I talked with was rude and adamant, started arguing with me that this is what I ordered. I ordered the Pumpkin Curry but they gave me the Tom something ramen. They didn't even apologize. They just said there was nothing to do to rectify the situation. Hopefully in the future they can handle the situation better than what they did today. read more
