This was actually the worst sushi I have EVER had in my life. Ordered the super crunch Crab roll and emerald roll. First I was disappointed by the appearance. For an $11 roll the pieces were tiny. Then came the taste. I took one bite, spat it out. I tried another, it was just as bad. I threw it directly in the trash. $20+ wasted. It was all rice and tasted like it had been in the fridge for hours. Worse than the pre-made sushi you get at grocery stores. If you want sushi DONT COME HERE! read more

I tried this place for the first time today. It was a carryout so I can't comment too much. But I was pleased with the service I received. I work nearby and eat entirely too much Papa Johns and Subway, so I thought I'd give Thai Namtip a try. I ordered the Chicken Fried Rice at a 6 and it was the heat I expected. I like my food pretty spicy, but since I wasn't sure how theirs ran, I played it safe. I think my normal 8 would've been good. Anyway, I agree with what most said. It is nicely decorated, the service was quick, and for $6 I can't complain. I'll come back and try the sushi. read more

Don't let the setting in a faded little strip mall fool you: The Thai food here is great, on par with any I've had in the 'nati and probably the best southeast Asian fare on the west side of town (though there aren't a ton of contenders for the honor). This place is easy to miss but after a long afternoon of shopping at Sam's Club nearby - my mom and I decided to check out this little place. The sushi was subpar. Good Thai on the west side. Comfortable and friendly atmosphere. Service is prompt and food is hot. I have been largely disappointed with the Thai restaurants in town, but Namptip is definitely on par with, if not slightly better than most. I tried Thai Namtip shortly after it opened, and was so underwhelmed I didn't return for years. I don't recall any more what I ate back then. But qne day at lunchtime recently I was in the area, so I decided to give it another chance and picked up an order of Pad Thai to go. I specified I wanted it mild, no heat at all. When I got it home, I'd say it was a 3 or 4 on a 1 - 10 scale. It was way to spicy to be edible, and didn't taste particularly good anyway. I stop by here once a month or so for lunch. I always seem to get the same thing, Southern Style fried Rice with Tofu. Always good. I call ahead and pick it up to go. Everyone there is very nice. I am so glad Thai namtip is there when I need my Thai fix. read more

I eat here regularly. The food is excellent. The hot and sour soup is my favorite with chicken ramrong. Lunch is $5.95.

The Pad thai is as good as any place in the city the servers are all wonderful. I eat lunch here almost every Friday. Don't let the strip mall throw you off. This places is Great! read more

This place does not look like much from the outside, but take a chance and step inside to the elegance, tranquility, and deliciousness that awaits. The service gains an A+. The wait staff were the friendliest I have ever encountered. They were knowledgeable about the food and very pleasant to speak with. We were seated promptly. No wait. The menu is extensive but descriptive. We had the golden bags for an appetizer. Did not realize how spicy one of the sauces was, what a surprise. I ordered the Pad Thai. I'm a vegetarian and they will make all of their dishes vegetarian for you (i.e. without fish sauce). I've had all of the curry (yellow, red, and green) and it's all excellent. I usually get it with tofu and brown rice. The tofu ramrong is also excellent. It has veggies and tofu in a delicious peanut sauce served over rice. The other day I had the vegetarian pad thai. I didn't like it as well as other entrees I've had. You'll get great service and the food comes out fast. read more

Hidden gem!!!! Love the atmosphere. I had the yellow curry with a spice level of a 5 (exactly what I would expect out of a 5), which was amazing. The thai iced tea was also really good. The service was excellent and reasonably priced. Its bring your own bottle beer/wine. read more

So based on the Yelp reviews I tried Thai Namtip with a friend tonight. I was not impressed. My review is based on a bowl of Tom Yum Khung and Gra Pao Gai. The Tom Yum was dense and far too sweet. There was a complete lack of balance. Not enough fish sauce in the background. No citrus from limes at all. The spices were completely absent. There were no bits of galangal or lemongrass in the broth at all. If I had to guess, I'd guess it was a pre-made paste. The Gra Pao Gai (Basil Chicken) was also just ok but with very serious omissions for a Thai dish. To start with there were only two leaves of basil and no flavor. When I go out for Thai and pay restaurant prices I expect Gra Pao (Holy Basil). I can almost forgive a restaurant that substitutes a different variety of basil but it is difficult to forgive a basil dish with NO basil. The same is true for Thai peppers in the Gra Pao Gai. They were sprinkled chili flakes!! Really? I grow Prik Kee Noo (Thai chilis) in my garden and even Kroger's carries it now from time to time. There is no excuse for this sloppy cooking at those prices. Maybe they had a bad night but such fundamental flaws would seem to indicate a restaurant that is coasting downhill to me on first glance. read more

Stop by for carry out sushi all the time. It's quick , fresh and always consistent. The staff is very friendly and will answer any questions if your looking to try something different. Sis and i have been to most every Thai place in town, especially the ones with sushi, and were surprised to find one on the West side where we live that we hadn't tried. We at there today and I'm a little torn between a three and four star review. We both got the appetizer sampler, which was all fried food that mostly tasted like egg rolls from a mediocre chinese place. Our sushi was good, but our entrees were just OK. For the West side Thai Taste is a better bet, also Lin's Pad Thai, and the East side has Green Papaya and Mango Tree, then the route to Florence has Mai Thai and Sweet Basil. All of these places have better food, in some cases much better. read more

After hearing great reviews about this place my fiancée and I decided to try it. To say the least we were VERY disappointed. The portions are about half the size as comparable Thai/ Chinese places in the area. We did carry-out and when we got home and started eating the food it was very bland. My fiancée ordered his food at an 8 heat level since he likes spice and after a few bites he was commenting on how un-hot the food was. It was actually so not hot I tried it and couldn't even taste the heat (even though it smelled spicy). After being very unimpressed but the food we decided to try the crab ragoons. The ragoons were so greasy we actually were blotting them off on napkins. They also had a minimal amount of "crab" in them. We would have been better off eating a block of cream cheese with pita chips. We were so upset after paying 30$ that we decided to call Thai Namtip and ask for a refund. The guy on the phone told my fiancée that we would have to bring all the food back to get a refund. My fiancée told the guy we had eaten some of the food and the guy still said it all needed to come back. This was not only confusing but annoying in the fact that how can you bring all of the food back if you had to eat some of it to try it to know it was terrible. The n a women got on the phone the same conversation was had and then she HUNG UP ON MY FIANCEE. I was so mad at this point I took what was left of the food back to the store and demanded a refund and an apology. The women actually had the nerve to tell me she wouldn't apologize because in the 7 years they had been open they had NEVER had a complaint. Which in any industry is almost completely impossible. I got my refund but Needless to say we will NEVER be returning. An advising many other people of our terrible experience. If I could give this place no stars I would. read more
