Really good Thai food. As a Thai person, all I want to eat all the time is Som Tum (papaya salad) so we decided to stop here when we were in town. Their papaya salad was authentic tasting but it was super sour. We ended up sending it back so they can fix it or make us a new one, but when they brought it back..it ended up being too sweet but we ate it anyways since we didn't want to resend it back. The kao poon was my favorite. Super delicious and super authentic and I love the portions and all the veggies it included. Our waitress was very friendly and it was nice conversing with her in Thai and Lao. I will say that the place was big and nice but could definitely use some cleaning on their walls and stuff since it's a bit dirty but overall good was great and we'll be back.

Thai Mango is very local to us and is our absolute go to for Thai food. We have been coming here for 2 years and the food is consistently fresh and delicious. The restaurant is always clean and the staff always attentive. In our most recent visit we tried dishes we never ordered before. The Tom Kha with seafood is fantastic and I like this better than the Tom Yum (which is a bit too sweet for my taste). Chicken Satay was smoky and tender with a generous portion of chicken on each skewer. Ancient Pad Thai really surprised me - it has the essence of regular pad thai but more umami with interesting depth of flavor. I highly recommend this one! Pad Ped (Salmon) was also very good but best enjoyed fresh from the kitchen. Lightly battered cubes of salmon tossed in a red curry stir fry with veggies - so delicious! Pretty sure anything you order here will be good. Other noteworthy dishes are the papaya salad and (any) fried rice. I have yet to try any of the noodle soups but maybe I'll try that next!

I am more than impressed, this was a fantastic meal. There was only one server, she did her best, and the entire restaurant almost filled up entirely. Kao piek- I have never had it at a restaurant, only homemade and this tasted just like it was homemade! The noodles were cooked to perfection and soup was spiced to the T. Boat noodles- lots of beef, soup was great, loved the veggies. Beef was cooked medium rare. Sample platter- it had a perfect amount of variety. Chicharonnes, boiled egg, fried chicken wings, cabbage for the papaya salad and Lao sausage. I have no complaints about this platter, every single thing was delicious. Papaya was also style. Beef laarb- Lao style- we ordered it cooked because my friend doesn't like medium rare meat, it was on the dry side. It would have been better if it was medium rare. Mango sticky rice- OH MY GOODNESS!! It was Sssoooo goooddd!!! The sauce in it was sweet and salty. Mangoes were the perfect ripeness, it was sweet but not too sweet and just the right firmness. Purple and white sticky rice was smothered with the sauce. I saw a table next to us each get their own mango sticky rice and that was it. That's how good it is. Laos style vs thai style- Lao style sauce is brown and had crab paste in it. Thai style is more lime juice and fish sauce only. I highly recommend also style. My new Thai spot.

I started with a Thai iced tea. It looked like there was a lot of cream in it, but the tea flavor was actually still pretty noticeable. Either it was balanced well or my palate was just picking it up more that night. For food, we ordered the pad see ew with beef, yellow curry with chicken, chicken satay, and roti. The food started coming out around the 12 minute mark, which felt reasonable for how busy it was. The pad see ew was good, but the yellow curry was probably my favorite out of everything we ordered. The chicken was tender and the curry had good flavor without being overwhelming. I just love taking some roti and dipping it in that curry. What I liked was just hearing the kitchen go to work! You could hear the dishes being cooked up fresh, and it just reminded me of my time in Thailand. Solid spot, I'll be back again.

Had dinner with friends after some shopping in the area. Everything was delicious!!! The ancient pad thai is a must if you've never had it. Will definitely stop by when we visit family in that area.

Mmmm dinner was just right today! Enjoyed everything! It was a busy night and the waiter still checked in. They have many to go orders for pick up, they can get pretty busy. Keep the same great taste and i'll be back!

Interesting location, due to the traffic congestion on Stockton Blvd it's pretty easy to pass by unknowingly which was what I ended up doing. When I walked into the restaurant there wasn't any staff in view. I ended up walking to their counter after a few minutes that was when I saw a staff and was told I could sit anywhere that was opened. If that was the case they may consider putting away the please wait to be seated sign when the restaurant was pretty empty. We ordered the Thai papaya salad, pineapple fried rice, drunken noodle with beef, and mango sticky rice. Each dish had a good size portion for the price. The papaya salad was not spicy even for a medium not sure why that was the case. Perhaps they forgot the peppers while the drunken noodles were spicy.

The best part were the salmon bites which were glazed in the sweet pad Thai sauce and had a crispy exterior and soft interior. Super delicious. -Khao Piak: Warm, thick, tangy, and comforting bowl of noodle soup. Overall, I enjoyed everything despite the smaller portion sizes for some of the dishes. How wrong you would be to do so as well! Walking in, the front half of the storefront is a small market and you have to walk to the back to order food. What South Area Market lacks in visual appeal they make up for in authentic flavors, executed well! I was apprehensive myself while I was there and played it safe by only ordering a few things, but nearly all were delicious and craveable. I'll start with their pad thai because I feel like that's what most people will think of when ordering Thai-Lao. The pad thai was beautiful to behold with vibrant colors and a fresh aroma. Once fully mixed it is a cacophony of colors, flavors, and for me, heavy nostalgia. It's somehow tangy, sweet, sour, crunchy, and fresh all at once with a nice dose of heat. I would probably put the heat level at a mild-medium level, but not all the chili flakes need to be mixed in if you're not a spicy eater. I've literally just finished eating and I want to eat more despite being full I would also heavily recommend the Lao sausage as well. It's a little gamey, but it packs so much flavor and little more heat than the pad Thai. The braised pork belly & eggs were super good too with deep flavors and tender pork that falls apart. The last item we got was the steamed fish and while good, I felt that it needed either more salt or citrus to bring out the flavors. We did get there during the last 20 minutes of business so I expect these dishes are better when they're fresh during the day. South Area Market feels like a true hidden gem that I don't think will remain hidden for long! I am excited to have it in regular rotation when we want Thai food so I can explore the rest of the menu. Plus you can shop in the market side to get some fun treats (like the durian Pocky we picked up!

The beef was well seasoned, the noodles were perfectly coated with the sauce, and the bean sprouts and lime rounded up the flavors well. It was my first time having lao sausage and it was great!! I loved the chili-lime sauce they had with it (jeow som?)! Service was very friendly and the ambiance feels cozy/local vibe!! I didn't like the pad see ew at all (flavor or ingredients - where's the broccoli or egg?) and the kaopoon needed a lot more coconut milk. I also prefer thicker noodles for my kaopoon. The ones they used were like angel hair thickness compared to the spaghetti sized ones i like. The Thai tea tasted fresh, but I've had better. My bf got the yellow curry and said it was good. I don't like curry so it was a no for me. Prices were fair and much better than most places. Service was also good. Order at the window. Seat yourself and the lady walks around to the front to bring the food to you. You grab napkins, utensils, and sauces yourself. Cute outdoor vibes, but not great in winter or extreme weather. It was windy and cold when we went, so not ideal but it wasn't horrible. Parking was easy. We parked on the street across from Smart & Final. There are some parking spaces right across the alley, but I'm not sure if it's ok to park there.. there weren't signs saying it was only for residents or a specific business, but the street parking wasn't much further so we didn't bother moving our car. Overall, I wanted to love it, but it just wasn't my personal taste preference. For reference, my favorite Thai place right now is Tuk Tuk. But, I would still recommend that people try it.
