Very tasty, fairly authentic Thai food with plenty of clearly vegan options. We stopped in for dinner on a Sunday just before 6pm, and the restaurant was already packed. Luckily, they were able to seat us. Seeing as they have plenty of vegan options, we had plenty to choose from. We got: -Pad Kee Mao with fried tofu ($17.50 plus tax). We ordered this 2/3 spicy, and it was quite spicy indeed. Very rich flavours, with lots of dark soy, light-to-moderate sweetness, and quite a lot of richness. It came with plenty of flat rice noodles, lots of veggies, and a few large pieces of fried tofu. Real nice. 4.5/5 -Pad Prik-Khing with fried tofu ($17.50 plus tax). We also ordered this 2/3 spicy, and it was also quite spicy indeed. Very rich red curry flavours, with plenty of veggies and some fried tofu. Maybe a bit over the top and lacking nuance, but very tasty overall. 4/5 -Choo-chee (yellow) curry with soft tofu ($19). We ordered this 3/3 spicy, and I'd say it was moderately spicy. This was perhaps the least invigorating dish just because it was simple. The curry was nicely spiced and balanced, but only came with 9 pieces of soft tofu, plus some bell peppers. Good, but a bit underwhelming, especially considering the steep price. 3.5/5 Service was extremely kind and reasonably fast. Very solid spot for vegan-friendly Thai in central Bellingham. Thx to Yelp reviewers we came upon Thai Maison...with the pleasant surprise that it was in the same plaza as Trader Joe's (our planned stop after lunch! -- thus parking could be tricky). The restaurant ambience is bright, light, and clean, with an elegant diner feel. The staff (and owner) are friendly and hospitable. The dishes imbibe their flavours. Unique and yummy is the deep fried roti that accompanies the Massaman Lamb Curry. The sauces that go with the dishes are on the side (which is great) and they pair nicely with their respective dishes adding a new divergent and exotic taste to the dish. I wonder how many Trader Joe's customers have visited Thai Maison. Definitely worthwhile, and it may inspire one's own home prepared cuisine! read more

I enjoyed some crab fried rice to go on a busy Friday night. Beyond tasting like yummy fried rice with just enough crab to know you were getting something special, I really appreciated the large serving size. Even for a voracious eater like myself, 1 serving lasted me 2 large meals. I ordered the 1 star spice level which appeared to be the perfect level for my mild/medium palette. Interestingly, the fried rice came with a spicy lime sauce. I was initially skeptical of this, never having seen it at Asian restaurants I have frequented to before, but I was happily proven wrong. It added the right amount of zest and I enthusiastically dumped it all over my serving. The 1 star deduction is for the high prices charged. In this day and age, I would really expect rice to be included in the price of some of their curry dishes. Otherwise, I look forward to returning when I'm in the mood for some Asian fix on the Bellingham side of the border. read more

I stopped by about an hour before closing the other night and ordered the Maison fried rice. I typically go for noodles at Thai places, but I was intrigued by the marinated steak and crispy egg. It was literally the best fried rice I have ever had - a really unique flavor profile augmented by the tamarind sauce. The steak was melt in your mouth tender. The egg was perfectly cooked, and if I could afford to eat this every day, I would. The service was also incredibly welcoming and fast. I really appreciated how attentive my waitress was. I've had other dishes at this restaurant that were phenomenal (khao soi gai, pad Thai, pad kee mao) but this one really wowed. read more

This place was wonderful in so many ways. The food was delish, plentiful, and served hot. The wait staff was kind and helpful (let us know that their signature is pretty spicy even at a 0/5). This would be a great date spot (bet it is gorgeous at night) and was a perfect place for our family today. We walked in and my 8-year old said, "Mama, it's so beautiful in here!" Plants, lights, mirrors...they have decorated so thoughtfully. It definitely brings in the French twist to everything. I'm disappointed as I write this review. I was in Bellingham for a night on Friday and my friend and I decided to get takeout from Thai Maison. After looking online I decided on the Pad Kee Mao with the fried chicken and my friend ordered the same with beef. We ordered on the phone and despite it being Friday night the weight time was not bad at all. Once we arrived we asked if we can pay separately. They waitress said sure but wanted to make sure she knew which one of us had the fried chicken as there was an up charge for it. Once we arrived home I opened my food and to my surprise they had not put fried chicken in my dish at all. It was really disappointing to say the least. The dish is really delicious with plenty of vegetables and flavor. I ordered mine with 2 stars for spice level and it was just right. I wish I had received what I ordered and paid for. I had high hopes, but it was a challenging outcome. I believe in posting both good and bad on yelp to ensure balanced reporting. For Thai Mason, I was disappointed. The sticky rice almost took a knife to cut through and the chicken pad thai was marginal. We also had the prawn curry, which was pretty good, except for the sticky rice. I finally go to try their Choo-Chee curry with crispy chicken. Thinking about crispy chicken with creamy Thai curry, I thought it would blow my mind, but it didn't to be honest. Don't get me wrong, it was pretty good. Maybe I was expecting too much. Choi-Chee Curry: I was more impressed with the curry than the chicken. The curry was solid with rich and creamy flavor. There's red and green peppers. You can add mixed vegetables as an extra (although I probably wouldn't). The chicken was just ok. I wouldn't have eaten the chicken without the curry. Finally, the spiciness. On the scale of 3 stars (0 being not spicy and 3 the spiciest), I chose 2 stars, and I thought it was not spicy at all. "Cost Performance": Cost with respect to the quality and quantity is pretty high: 9/10. I thought the quality of the curry was one of the best in town. One order of Choo-Chee curry will give you two decent servings (see my photos). With that said, $21 with a tip and tax included is a great deal. Online Order: It was pretty easy to order online. The food was ready in about 20 minutes (as promised). Conclusions: I'll definitely try this restaurant again and try something different. They have a few other meat dishes I want to try. This is a very nice, clean and friendly restaurant. The service was very good. Unfortunately for us we were not overly impressed with our lunch. This is not to say that the food was not good. It just was not to our liking. I had one of the salads (2-Stars) and I could barely eat it because of how hot it was. The flavor was great, but it was definitely hotter than I prefer. If I eat here again everything will be 1-Star. My wife had a dish with a peanut sauce. Again, the flavor and presentation were very nice, but she ordered it with 0-Stars and she would not finish it. I guess we just don't enjoy spicy hot food. I would use this review as informational more than a go-no-go recommendation. We enjoyed our service, ambiance is great, decor is lovely (we couldn't tell we were in a strip mall once inside), and food here! We had iced coffees (so delish), grilled chicken, phad Thai, choo chee curry (closest dish to panang curry), classic fried rice, and peanut noodles. We thought most of the dishes were very tasty. We're Los Angeles transplants used to great Thai food. So we were thrilled to find this homey and tasteful little gem in a strip mall next to Trader Joes. Great ambience. Friendly staff. And the best roasted brussel sprouts I've ever had in my life. My fave noodle is the PAD KEE MAU. But the SOUPS are amazing. Everything is delicately flavored, not overly sweet the way Thai food can be spoiled. Fresh herbs. Everything you want in Thai. Walking into Trader Joe's on an empty stomach is not wise...decided to get a snack next door at Thai Maison. Very clean and smartly decorated. Very nice waitress quickly got me a table. Overall wonderful experience. Food had amazing flavor. My boyfriend got the pad see ew and I got pad kee mao. Both of us enjoyed our dishes. Decorations and environment of the restaurant was trendy and cute. Servers were very friendly and always refilled our waters without asking (which is a gesture I always look out for at restaurants ;) ) One thing that stood out was the meat. I have found a lot of places usually overcook the meat, especially pork. This was by far the softest, juiciest pork I've had at a Thai restaurant in town. Spicy scale from 1-3 was unique and found they didn't mess around with the spiciness! Only thing keeping this restaurant from a 5 star is the price. We have ordered from here and eaten in multiple times and the food is always good. Fresh, authentic and tasty. However, the reason for 3 stars is more about the time it takes to get the food, as well as the price you pay for what you get. We just ordered food to pick up and arrived at the time we were told. They seemed to lose our order, which was annoying, but ok, stuff happens. We were told they were going to make it ASAP, and it will be ready in 10 mins. 30 minutes went by before our food was ready. In that time, no check ins, no apologies, no updates. Additionally, when you pay about $50 for 2 dishes, you hope that the customer service would match the price. I get it, you pay for the quality of the food, but this experience left me hoping for more. read more

From reading all the positive reviews about this place, I had high expectations. However, I was left disappointed with their food. The rice was dry and hard. The curry was a bit too sweet and very heavy; it always tasted like peanut sauce. The vegetables and meat portions were small compared to the amount of curry base. I'm blown away by how good this place is! I'd been dying to come here over ever since hearing it opened, and now can't wait to come back. All the positive feedback is true. The menu has a lot of unique items you won't find at all Thai restaurants. With how good our first order was, my list of dishes to try is now very long! So far our favorite item was the Choo-Chee Curry - a red curry with bell peppers that we got with crispy chicken. It was so well-balanced, light yet creamy, and the fried chicken worked incredibly well with it. It's a must have. The Pad Thai and Papaya Salad were also very well executed and should be staple orders. Overall the food was authentic, the flavors and textures delicate and refined.
