This is a hidden gem in Lynden, in my opinion. The prices are unbeatable, and the food is great. Not as lavish as other Thai places, but so good for the price. This wasn't my favorite version as I wish there was more veggies, but they did a decent job. Staff was incredibly kind, even though getting the food was pretty slow. The night we went, they were definitely prioritizing takeout orders over dine in. Almost an hour wait for our food, and we kept watching person after person picking up their to go orders at the desk. It is a bit hidden inside a small mall but once you are seated it's like sitting next to a lovely canal in Venice, plus small waterfall and koi fish. The atmosphere was fun, and loved the little bridge and pool of coy fish, but the food wasn't anything amazing. I ordered a take out order of Cashew Gai. I wasn't overly thrilled. It was really saucy, ordered 4 stars and couldn't even taste any spice, and had mushrooms, though it didn't say that on the menu. It was just bland and maybe had a few cashews in it. Being that we've been in that mall numerous times, we finally tried the restaurant. The Yelp reviews have been amazing! Chandra's House is settled in Lynden Downtown, inside the little mall. Koi fish swim about in the river-esk beneath the wooden pathway that brings you to the entrance of her outdoor seating area. The menu consists of all the traditional Thai plates. They didn't have a specialty plate, however everything we ordered was exceptional! I had the Pineapple Curry with my choice of tofu. My husband had the combo plate, Pad Thai, Panang Curry with brown rice. The kids had, Egg and Rice, and Chicken Teriyaki. Our server was sweet and very attentive. Though she was solo, serving the floor, she held her composure and smiled politely. We'll definitely be coming back! I love Thai food and Chandra's House did not leave us disappointed. First time visit as we are spending the night in Lynden after having spent a whole day hiking Mount Baker. We had chicken satay, pad see ew, and prid king with white rice. The service was fast and food arrived hot. I would say their "three (out of five) stars spicy" is really more like one star for us - we're more accustomed to spicy Asian food. Great authentic Thai food that my family and I enjoyed. However, having celiac disease, I did not feel completely safe eating here... I was welcomed into the kitchen to talk personally with the chef, but she seemed very confused with what gluten was. I decided to just order Thai fried rice with veggies with NO oils or spices. The current owner has significantly upgraded both the look of the place (only doing take-out at this time) and the food. The food is well prepared and the portions quite generous. The dishes we had (fresh rolls, garlic lover chicken, won ton soup, house salad (which is a very Asian dish) and Penang curry were excellent quality and seasoned 2-3 star nicely to our taste. They have a good selection of beverages including beer and wine, all reasonably priced. Very good Thai food, especially for the Lynden Bellingham area, was pleasantly surprised. My only complaint with the Pad Thai I ordered was the somewhat thick and sticky sauce, not something I'm used to and made the fish a little heavier than normal. Aside from that the flavor was very good, you could taste the tamarind and fish sauce, it was nicely balanced between sweet, sour, spicy, and savory. I enjoyed the amount of peanuts in the dish which was more than usual, and it was topped with the usual bean sprouts, green onions, a little carrot and lots of chicken. The noodles were cooked perfectly, still with a little chew to them, which was great considering I think they use dry noodles not fresh.
