Taste of Asia has food from several Asian countries including Thailand, Vietnam & Laos. When we arrived we met Lena the very charming & helpful owner from Laos. She gave us a brief rundown on some of the food items available on their menu. I see my fellow Yelper formerly from Chicago Leang has also been here. I guess foodies find good food no matter where you live or travel to lol We started w/an order of shrimp spring rolls that came w/4 spring rolls loaded w/fresh lettuce, bean sprouts & shrimp. * Issan Pad Ga Pow - Ground Chicken w/Thai Basil, onion, jalapeño w/jasmine rice ball in the center & a crispy fried egg on top of the rice perfectly cooked w/a nice gooey egg yolk on top of the jasmine rice (Excellent Dish) our favorite * Pad See Ew - Thick rice noodles w/beef, Chinese broccoli & egg w/soy sauce w/a sweetness * Larb V - season minced meat, lime juice, patise, cilantro, bean sprouts & sliced cucumbers. Very good but a tad too salty for our taste. So many times when restaurants try to cook a variety of different Asian dishes from multiple countries you end up w/a variety of mediocre dishes. This wasn't the case w/Taste of Asian where each dish had its own unique blend of seasonings that made it unique to the country being represented. Our host Lena was very helpful in helping us choose our dishes. The young girl (probably her daughter came out to check on our needs several times). Her 4 year old son was tasked with bringing out a sticky rice ball wrapped to each table. I asked him how many girlfriends he had he held out his hand w/4 fingers. He better not get any older or he'll be in trouble w/1 girl for every year lol Great food, great service w/a nice choice of options in terms of the dishes to choose from.

Could be one person in the kitchen. They need some help. Folks waiting and ringing the bell to get checked out. Ordered crab Rangoon, 4 pieces, 2 chicken only spring rolls, chicken satay, drunken noodles with chicken and added garlic, Khao pad ga prow with chicken and added veggies, spicy. $58.16 Can't get steamed tofu here, only fried. The crab Rangoon wonton wrapper is thick, too thick and heavy. The creamed cheese inside has an odd texture and leaves an unpleasant after taste, not what I expected, super sweet. Color looks odd. The whole thing is off and doesn't taste right. The dipping sauce is not quite duck sauce or what I expected either. I have a feeling today's lunch will be interesting. I am hopeful the rest of the apps and meal goes better than the first starter. The chicken satay is super dry. The peanut sauce is thick as heck. The spring roll had some older lettuce, not great. The sauce was not peanut sauce, just topped with peanuts was all. The fried rice is meh, nothing special. The main dishes aren't big portions. The drunken noodles aren't too bad, small portion, which is fine. The drunken noodle was the best part of the meal, that's not a good thing. Service and most of the apps and food leaves much to be desired.

You can adjust the spice however you need to and I usually go with a medium, which is just right for me. There is plenty of parking here and lots of indoor seating. I got takeout this time and it was super fast, maybe 15 minute wait. The actual restaurant space isn't fancy by any means but it's a nice environment and quiet to sit and eat in.

Started with the papaya salad and spring rolls. Heavy fish sauce use in every dish. Papaya was fresh but covered in an overly salty sauce; my husband who loved papaya salad would not even try it. Ordered pad Thai with shrimp and peanut sauce (all up charges). Pad Thai arrived overly sweet. Husband tried drunken noodle with steak. He did not like the steak - said the flavor was off. He ate very little of his meal. We really like Thai food - had it in so many cities and this place missed the mark for us. Local friends recommended so we are hoping this was an not a normal experience. They also dropped off the bill when they served the meal. We didn't really see that and sat some time before realizing we had the bill upside down on the large table. While convenient, it was a little odd for a $70 meal especially when it was clear my husband hardly touched his food they cleared from our table.

The ambiance is pretty typical of any Thai restaurant. Tastefully decorated, not cluttered or tacky at all. The menu was a bit lengthy, but it was nicely laid out and easy to read. The prices are pretty comparable with other Thai restaurants. Our waiter, I believe, was also the owner of the restaurant, a very pleasant gentleman. He was knowledgable about the menu and offered a spice range of 1 (no spice) to 10 (extremely spicy), and anywhere in between. My son ordered the Drunk Mama dish, my husband ordered the Mongolian dish, and after asking if there was soy in it (and mentioning I had a soy allergy), I ordered the Vegetable dish. The waiter assured me they could make it without soy. It was literally only a few minutes when the dishes started coming to the table, piping hot. I had only taken about 2 bites when the waiter came over to the table, took one look at my dish and said, "Oh, let me remake that for you. I can tell this has soy in it." He whisked it away immediately. A few minutes later, I was given a newly prepared dish, without soy, and was told there would be no charge for dinner. I also received many apologies for the mixup. This is one place that genuinely cares about their customers. My vegetable dish was full of tasty, very fresh vegetables, cooked to perfection. All 3 of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The spice levels were perfect, the presentation was nice, and the taste was outstanding. We love Thai food and have tried a lot of them, but this one is now at the top of our list. We live on the south end of Grand Rapids, but we will definitely be back! I'm looking forward to trying many of the other dishes listed on the menu. I highly recommend you try Jasmine Thai too.

I also tried the peanut curry noodles, which were excellent. Everything was so tasty and delicious! I would love to dine in sometime, and will definitely be ordering again for delivery from Aroy Thai.
