I had a craving for Thai food recently, so I hopped on Grub Hub and found Aroy Thai. I don't often get over to the NW side so I was interested in trying this spot. I ordered peanut curry noodles for Nate, curry pad Thai for me, crab rangoons, and tom yum soup. Our order was packaged well and everything was very hot. Curry pad Thai is my go-to and theirs was delicious! The noodles were perfectly cooked, it had a nice amount of chicken, and it was saucier than other places. I also tried the peanut curry noodles, which were excellent. Everything was so tasty and delicious! I would love to dine in sometime, and will definitely be ordering again for delivery from Aroy Thai. read more

Ooh no. Ok. This is a perfect example of "this is what you get for living in an American state". I hope you understand my undertone.. I literally just ordered this and came home. Whatever is that pad Thai...?? White noodles with some sort of meat and shrimp... what the heck. Pad Thai is supposed to be dark and this is very very WHITE (wink wink). Mom tried a little bit of it and she didn't like it at all. Won't even eat it. Pad see-ew look right.. but the taste is weird. The tofu tastes so weird. Has a really weird aftertaste too. The Thai tea... ok. So. When you first get it it's tea with syrup that has orange coloring on it. The taste. Bleh. We had to ADD Lipton tea to make it taste better. I will never come back. read more

In love with their food. I was on a kick for a while getting it twice a week for dinner because it's so good and well-priced. The spice level can be inconsistent at times but I've never had it so spicy I couldn't enjoy it. The curry pad Thai with chicken is my personal favorite with their rolls. read more

The pad thai was just ok. The sauce kinda tasted like salty chicken broth. The shrimp was inedible, with an off taste. There is no chicken satay or summer rolls on the menu. The server was very nice. I don't see a reason to return though. read more

Food was delicious. Authentic. The service was friendly and very knowledgeable, helpful with spice level. It was a quiet atmosphere, more take out than dine in, but bet very enjoyable. Highly recommend the Tom kha and noodle dishes. read more

This is our favorite Thai place in GR. The curry pad Thai is in large portion, very saucy and flavorful. The mild spice still has some kick to it which the medium provides a nice "brow sweat". The service is fast! We've never waited more than 10 minutes for our food. read more

Was hoping to dine in and enjoy dinner, but quickly realized this place only desires to be a takeout joint. Despite the large dining room, the goth hostess literally sighed and rolled her eyes when we asked for a table. After we sat for 10 minutes without being approached we decided to order takeout instead. The place was completely empty, probably because they do not make guests feel welcome. As for the food, my Pad Thai entree was delicious. We both ordered mild spice but my wife's Pad Thai dish was significantly spicier then mine, so she couldn't finish it. Another disappointing experience trying to find some decent Thai food here in the greater Grand Rapids area. My wife and I came by on our way into Grandville; we had passed this place a few times when we were heading into Comstock Park and have been meaning to stop in and give it a shot. Well, we stopped in around 7PM one evening and the first thing we noticed was that the dining room is closed after 4PM. Apparently, they stop seating tables at 3:30PM, so it's pretty much takeout only after that. To me, it's a little odd - you've got all of this table space and you're expected to pay at the counter before getting your food, but you don't want people sitting in your establishment to eat? They were able to give us plasticware but we ultimately ended up having to eat in the car. So, we start looking at the menu and trying to figure out what to order. From here, the first red flag comes up - they serve a 'dual menu' consisting of Chinese and Thai food. I like Asian fusion, where multiple cultural dishes are blended together (IE: bulgogi tacos, for instance) but I'm unsure if I've ever encountered a restaurant where a dual menu works well. It's usually a telltale sign that they need to cater to a wider audience to draw in enough business to remain viable. In an area with such limited diversity, this makes sense, but the best restaurants have a simple menu and do what they do really well. Anyhow, we order - nothing crazy, a beef drunken noodle and a beef pad thai. We sat in the waiting area while they prepared our food. It was SO fast to come out! I was surprised at how fast it was - maybe 5-6 minutes? We were told 10 minutes, so I was impressed with the level of service. Unfortunately, this should have been another red flag, because the food was mediocre at best. The food was SUPER hot in terms of cooking temperature (not spice). Again, this is generally not a complaint, but then we realized that the food had been microwaved to bring it back up to temperature. The containers are "microwave safe" food prep style plastic and the temperature of the food was well beyond what you could normally get from cooking it on the spot. It was almost "too hot to eat". It appears as if the base (noodles) is prepackaged and they just reheat then add the meat, peanuts, egg, etc. I'm glad that others like the food / business as much as they do, but I have a hard time seeing why. The girl working the register was polite and the pricing wasn't ridiculous, but the food was severely lacking. We agreed that wouldn't return to this place for food, and we're back on the hunt for a good Thai spot. read more

As first time customers we gave Aroy Thai in Standale a try. What a wonderful find!! They are currently take out only which is fine for us. We started with the crispy rolls with a sweet and sour sauce. Delish!! Two of us had the drunken noodles, one with chicken and the other with pork. The guys ordered medium heat which was perfect! Wonderful flavor with a delicious sauce. The peanut curry was loaded with vegetables and the sauce was yummy. My fried rice with vegetables pineapple and chicken was the best I ever had. We were in Grand Rapids for the day and happened to find this restaurant. I had the Peanut Curry with Chicken and it was delicious. Just the right amount of heat as it was prepared. The peanut sauce was rich and delicious. My partner had the Pad Thai with Chicken and had some extra spice added. He said was the best he had ever eaten. The service was fast and the food came out quickly and was hot. As far as ambiance, if that's what you're looking for don't come here. If you want delicious Thai food, this is the place. read more

My husband and I stopped in on a Friday evening after dining room was closed so we ordered takeout and waited. There wasn't a super long wait and the food was delicious. We each got the chicken pad Thai medium and an order of the crispy rolls. I've had a craving for those crispy rolls since then. I don't have any pics, sorry. It was already dark and being in the car the pictures wouldn't do it justice. I'd recommend grabbing some food here if you are in the area, just know that they mean it when they say anything medium spice and up is ACTUALLY spicy, but delicious. Aroy Thai is probably the best thai food that I've had in the Grand Rapids area. I would drive out of the city to this location because of how good their food is. I always order their tofu pad thai and it never disappoints. I've tried a few other places in Grand Rapids for thai food but nothing beats the flavor that Aroy Thai puts on their food. Delicious and fast! We usually get the drunken noodle and fried rice, both medium heat, and I'm obsessed. The medium is spicy, like burning my lips spicy, but I love it! They are usually ready with to-go orders in 15-20 minutes and the servings are quite large. We normally have leftovers for the next day's lunch. My only complaint: the crab rangoons could use a little more filling. Definitely recommend. read more

In town from Arizona. Thanks to yelp we found Aroy. Food was fantastic, prices are good and service (we did take out only) was good and punctual. This was was so good that my son requested it again for the second night. Night one we ordered Pad Thai (mild) with chicken and Drunken Noodles with chicken (medium). Both were very good and rivaled the best I have ever had. On the second night we ordered Pad Thai with pork (mild) and Sesame Chicken (medium plus). Again the quality and taste did were great. When we return I will again order the drunken noodle but medium plus and request a little extra Thai basil. read more
