Ordered the Panang Curry, Green Curry, Pad Thai & Pad See-Ew. Overall everything was delicious. The Pad Thai and Green Curry are the best I have had in San Diego. If I am being ultra picky, I think the Pad See-Ew was a little sweet, tasted molasses (maybe brown sugar?) and prefer the Pad See-Ew from Iron Pan (Poway). The Panang Curry was also a bit sweet for my taste and prefer Chan Dara (Escondido). But this is my new go-to Thai restaurant. Right after a LONG hike my friends and I came here for the first time. ITS SO ADORABLE. Everything is so well decorated, family owned!!! I had Thai Ladle once as takeout before and really liked their Pad Thai and Eggplant Basil dish; however, the second time was very disappointing. What I ordered the second time: - Crab Fried Rice: Wow what a waste of $18. The crab wasn't fresh so had a mushy texture, it also wasn't fried with the rice and added as a topping. On top of that, rice was mushy too and we got bits of crab shells. - Eggplant Basil: What I loved about the dish the first time was how generous they were with the eggplant and basil, the flavor of the basil was strong as well. The second time was extremely disappointing. There were more bell peppers than eggplant pieces, I think there were 5 slices of eggplant in the whole dish.... and the basil flavor just wasn't as present as it was as the first time. - Papaya Salad: This is more like a 1 person serving appetizer. It's good, but just don't expect a lot of it in portion. - Penang Curry: This curry was solid, not bad, not terrible. Portion is a bit small compared to Sab E Lee. - Pad Thai: Not bad for Pad Thai! I recommend tofu or chicken. I also don't like how the dishes use the same ingredients. For instance, the Eggplant Basil and Curry both had onions, lots of carrots, lots of bell peppers, and lots of green beans. It makes me feel like they sautéed the ingredients, then added curry, or then added eggplant/basil. It seems lazy, just like the crab toppings on the fried rice. read more

I asked for MILD, if that was mild, I'd hate to see what hotter versions are like. It was far too spicy for me. I also didn't feel I got much food for the price. We recently discovered Thai Ladle on Poway Road and have added it into our rotation of neighborhood go-to restaurants. You can dine-in or take out (They also offer Uber Eats, Doordash, Grubhub, etc.) We enjoyed a yummy thai iced tea, and shared an appetizer and a curry. We both thought portions were a tad smaller than other Thai restaurants we frequent, but it was all very fresh, colorful and fragrant. Decor is simple and modern with grey woods and string white lights. Service was swift and attentive. We ordered food for pick-up last Thursday and we were so happy we did. 4 dishes were ready to go in 10 minutes and were so delicious and well done. I highly recommend this place based on my first experience with them because it's only been 4 days and I already want to go back. Thai Ladle has been our take out of choice lately - and we've been delighted with everything they've made for us. Many of their appetizer options are large enough to share. The fresh rolls eat like a main dish, super generous in size. In fact, I had them alongside some chicken satay as a full meal last night and loved every bite. My partner loves their Pad Thai and our toddler even chowed down on a few bites of the noodles. We're also into their Yellow Curry, Samosas, Cheesy Wontons, Pineapple fried rice and the Pad See-Ew. OMG can I just send in another order for it all right now? A note on the spice range here, its on the higher end of the spectrum. A one or two is a substantial kick. I went here with my mom yesterday and I can say 100% this is the place to eat. I wasn't feeling the best and was looking something that would bring back up my appetite and this place did not disappoint. The pad thai was amazing and the waiter was really friendly. I've taken my mom out to eat many places and she's never complimented a worker before, but yesterday she was giving out praises saying "how this girl is such a hard worker" or "she's doing so much stuff but doing it so well". Service is a 5. Waitresses and cashier workers are all friendly and helpful. Food taste is really good. The only part making me not want to give this place a 5 is the oiliness if the food. I ordered a pad Thai and it had a little bit too much oil. Also I would have preferred if the pad Thai noodles were a little thicker since they were as thin as the bean sprouts. Reason for the 4 stars is because service was okay. The waitress didn't acknowledge us when we walked in and it was a sit down restaurant but now until waiting for about 10 minutes and me having to walk up to her to tell her what I want, did she finally come to the table to take our order. Broth and soup itself was delicious. He followed it with the Massaman Curry and it was excellent. He said he would get it again. I had the ginger stir fry. It was excellent. You can tell the ingredients are fresh, and the they take the extra step to form the jasmine rice into a heart shape. It's minor, but charming nonetheless.
