I hate writing bad reviews, but this place was not good. I ordered shrimp spring rolls and chicken pad Thai (3 stars out of 5 for spice) by phone. My order was ready when I came in, but that's where the good stops. The shrimp spring rolls were huge - huge. But each had only one small shrimp in it. So disappointing. I might be a little picky about my Thai food. Since moving up to The Colony, I've had a hard time replacing my go-to Thai place. I've tried 4 or 5 restaurants in TC and Frisco and just haven't loved any of them. One of them was so bad, I just threw the food out. So when I tried Thai Kitchen last night, I was not expecting to be blown away. I ordered Panang Curry with Beef and Tom Yum Soup online and went in to pick up. I loved being able to order online! When I arrived, my food was packaged neatly and waiting for me on the counter. The service was friendly and the place is nice inside (and byob!). I'll definitely be back to dine in. When I got home my food was piping hot and the portions were large enough to share. Best of all - this was easily the best Panang Curry I've had anywhere! The beef is better quality than you find in most Thai places, and the vegetables were fresh. I got "medium" on the spicy scale and it was perfect for me. The foods okay, it gets you your Thai fix. It's not the best thai around, but they do deliver themselves. That puts them in the I'm too lazy to seek something better Chinese food category for me - as long as everything makes it to my house within an hour or so then I'll keep ordering. I've tried this place twice, and really wanted to like it but I can't. The Lahb Gai was way too minty and just didn't taste right. Massaman curry was also not seasoned quite right, it tasted watered down and the flavor wasn't developed at all. Same for the Panang curry. Service isn't that great either. I made an order for delivery and the delivery time was excellent, but the food was not. I've had better Thai food. I usually go to Best of Thai off Frankford and the Tollway because it's always good. Thal Kitchen's meals lack flavor. My boyfriend thinks it's the driest Thai food he's ever eaten. Panang and Pat Thai did not have enough limes and fish sauce. Ordered carryout from Thai Kitchen on a Tuesday evening, everything was ready for pickup within 15 minutes. The Thai Ragoon was very good, a little overdone but they are generous with the cream cheese/crab filling. The Thai fried rice with beef was a generous portion with a good meat/veggie to rice ratio. I also ordered a shimp/chicken panang medium spicy. The dish was made up primarily off green beans and chunks of green pepper. The shrimp still had the tails and the chicken was decent. The panang curry was lackluster and was missing that familiar thick coconut milk flavor typical of this dish. Pad Kee Mow - not too saucy like other places but good ratio on veggies, meat and noodles. Level 4 spice. Pineapple Curry - didn't taste/see any pineapple in my curry. Has chicken, too much green beans, bell peppers, red peppers, and baby corn. Sauce was good over rice. Asked for the refill to go but she came back with the cup half filled instead. Unless these people can accurately state dine-in orders on plates come with more food than what is in stuffed into the togo containers, the shape does not matter. Horrible delivery. Door Dash delivery guy was great but restaurant didn't pack right so all curry spilled in bag and all over delivery guy's seat. Owner/mgr called me and said was fine when left restaurant. Obviously not. Told him bag was sealed but 1 corner of curry container wasn't sealed properly. Used to order a lot from this place, but I think tonight is my last night. I've had a couple issues the last few times, but chalked it up to normal business. Lately it just feels like it has gone completely down hill. Tonight, I ordered crab/cream cheese wontons and they are fully inedible. It looks like someone just mashed a bunch of the stuff together and threw it in the fryer. Doesn't look anything like a wonton at all more like a ball of fried wonton with a tiny bit of cream cheese in the middle. I got Thai tea boba tea and they gave me a normal straw instead of one I can actually drink the boba through, which kind of defeats the purpose of the boba tea. We had a little family dinner here. The staff was attentive and friendly. The food was tasty a little milder than expected but still good. We had the thom kha noodle soup, yellow curry, mango chilli, and Hawaiian rice for our little ones. The mango chilli was the standout dish.
