Beautiful interior at Thai Kitchen. We have only done takeout twice from here. The first time we thought it was great, the second time the noodles were dry and not in line with our first experience. The portions of the meals are not bad for the price. The curry puffs are delicious, but you only get 3 for $10, which is a little steep for a shared app. Would give an extra star if it came with 4 puffs! Will be back hoping for better quality again, mostly because we love Thai food and this is the only place around! Outdoor dining is a plus so we will probably try that on a nice night. read more

Take-out review: Ordered steamed dumplings, summer rolls, Larb salad with chicken and the pra raam with chicken. I've eaten here before and have had their take-out in the past. Everything was very good as it normally is with the exception of the pra raam. The pra raam is supposed to have spicy peanut curry sauce. I've had this dish before. This time ZERO spice. Nothing! I'll return to Thai Kitchen, but now I need to remember to ask for spicy on items that already clearly show as spicy on the menu. And yes I know that you can order different levels of spicy, but I'm telling you, this time ZERO spice. read more

I've visited Thai Kitchen a handful of times now and have had very good experiences during each. I initially searched Yelp for alternatives to delis and pizza shops in the area and found these guys. The location is in the corner lot of a shopping center, so you can't see it from the road. As such, I never would have found this place if I wasn't looking for it, but I'm glad I did. Once inside, I was astonished to find a very ornately decorated restaurant with all types of Eastern flair. It's a pretty big space with plenty of seating, even for large parties. I have gone with several colleagues each time and we haven't had a problem with seating, although it's a popular place. The proprietors and servers are all very friendly and helpful, which is also a plus. I know that authenticity can be a sticking point for some diners, and I respect that. I am not from Asia and sadly have never visited, so it is not such a big deal to me if this place is genuine or not. Having said that, I think I have a pretty well-informed palate and I can differentiate between the good and the bad. This place is good; relatively speaking, probably even very good. Do they serve authentic Thai food? Can't really say. The menu seems pretty legit to me and most if not all of the usual suspects are available. I've tried a lot of different things and have been pleased with everything. Their noodle dishes are particularly good, and they have a number of rotating specials that are always worth a look (the crispy duck buns app comes to mind). Lastly, they have this cute and novel (at least to me) spice indicator scale. Next to the spicy items, you will see an elephant on the menu. The intensity ranges from 1-5 elephants, and I've made it to 4 so far. QC is somewhat variable (I think the phrase is "mileage may vary?"), but in general, when they say spicy, they mean it. I like that. Prices are fair, with most lunch dishes ranging from $8-$10, and the portions are ample. If you're familiar with the myriad by-the-numbers Thai places in NYC, these guys could easily run neck and neck with them and actually be a standout. I'm happy to have found Thai Kitchen and plan to return. I think there are a few locations in this part of NJ, under the same ownership, so definitely check them out if you're near one. read more

Solid Thai food in the middle of NJ. In all honesty, I was expecting 'thai food for white people' given that it was in the middle of suburbia, but the food was high quality, full of flavor, very traditional. Even more impressive, the level of heat in 'medium' (aka 2 elephants) had a nice punch (and I like spicy food). As Mina said, a hidden gem; definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. Stopped by for lunch with a group of 13 after apple picking in the area and it was a great dining experience overall! They have a nice space in the back to accommodate large parties and the place in itself was quite decorative. The food and service were both good ... no complaints! We ordered the curry puffs, spring rolls, and chicken/beef skewers and all were delicious. For mains, I had the chicken green curry (spice level adjusted to a 3 / 5) and it was just right! I left feeling stuffed and satisfied as did everyone else in my party. NOTE: this restaurant is located inside the complex of an outdoor shopping mall so it might be difficult to find if you input the address into your GPS. A few of us got lost while driving here ... so be on the lookout for the shopping area where Banana Republic is and go in there. The restaurant is located next to GAP. Enjoy! read more

My family loves Asian food, Thai in particular. I wouldn't say we were experts, but we've been to upwards of 10-12 Thai restaurants across the country. This place is my least favorite. Although the service was good, the food was bordering on bad. The chicken was musty, almost skunky. Vegetables and herbs were not nearly as fresh as I would have liked. Despite asking for it hot (7 on a scale of 10), it was more like a 2. BYOW was nice, and prices of the food was reasonable (if it were better tasting). Decor was very cool, and parking isn't a problem as it's part of a shopping plaza. We will not be going back here. I would recommend Thai Nam Phet in Rockaway, NJ (better) or Saen Thai in Shawnee, PA (best!). read more

It's hard to go wrong with Thai, but there are a few choice items on the menu I'd recommend: Appetizers Satay: Juicy, melt in your mouth chicken glazed in a sweet sauce, a real crowd pleaser Salad Yum Ped Yang: YUM is right. This duck salad has a medley of satisfying, refreshing flavors. I love the celery, ginger and pineapple together. What I had tonight was excellent. Crispy duck salad was good. The beef in coconut milk and curry was just incredible. It was three nice pieces of beef that was slow cooked in a wonderful sauce, served with fingerling potatoes and carrots. I only wish they had put a little more of the delicious sauce on my plate. This was my first time here, so I need to try more of their dishes before I give a 4 or 5 rating. I really like the style of French Thai food. I am glad they have not gone the route of "Asian fusion", that is like "Italian American" which to me means stay away. The decor is very pleasing and the room is comfy and not loud. The food here is excellent, the decor is lovely and the prices are reasonable. We had the Tom Kra Gai soup, the calamari, and a daily special of honey puffs for appetizers. The Tom Kra Gai was one of the best I've had, with velvety chicken, lots of vegetables and nice lemongrass flavor. The calamari was cooked perfectly and had two sauces for dipping. The puffs were interesting and tasty. For entrées, my favorite was the Gang Dang (red) curry, with tofu. They don't list tofu as an option for the curries on the menu but we're happy to accomodate my request. The Pad Thai and Pad Cashew were also excellent, as was the Mee Siam. My son had a daily special lamb dish which didn't last long enough for anyone else to taste, so it must have been good. The food is rich, and the portions are generous. Went here for a lunch meeting and was surprised by the location! It's in a nice little shopping area in Chester tucked away in the corner. The pad Thai was pretty good but I can honestly say I've had better but I'd like to try it again and see how that goes. The service was very good and the soups/appetizers were all good. It's close by (~15 mins) Alsteade Farms if you're heading there, going for a hike at Hacklebarney State Park, or just going shopping at the Chester shoppes there. read more

Great Thai in an unexpected location. The restaurant itself is well furnished and classy... sort of Thai exotica theme. The menu had the traditional Thai dishes like curries and noodles supplemented by interesting specials. I had the Roti Canai appetizer, and it was the best I'd had since I visited Malaysia. I am shocked to see some subpar reviews of this place, but I guess opinions vary. Admittedly I have not tried many Thai places in N.J. but have tried a few that were strongly reviewed on YELP....this is hands down the best one that I have gone to. The ambiance is quaint, the staff has always been friendly, food comes out quickly and it is always delicious. Just as a point of reference I drive 65 miles to get up here from south jersey, which is a testament to how good I find the meal. I was here with a group of 4 the other night and it was fantastic. I don't get Thai food often but I'm definitely a fan of this restaurant! The Satay beef I ordered as an appetizer was AMAZING and my Mee Siam entree was also VERY good. My only complaint about my entree would be that the amount of chicken was on the low side. Other than that the flavors were spot on. The service was friendly and the dining room was very clean and decorated to make diners feel warm and relaxed. This restaurant is the quintessence of all Thai restaurants. They prepare many Asian delicacies, but if you want a table you will probably need a reservation. Thai Kitchen is BYOB, because they only serve two types of sodas. The two sodas are Coke and Sprite. The decor placed inside the restaurant adds a nice ambience to the room. Besides that their food is excellent. They added the perfect amount of spice on the Ren Deng Lamb. I would also recommend the Pad Lad Nar. The Pad Lad Nar is a simple Thai dish that consists of noodles, (beef, chicken, or shrimp.), Asian Broccoli, and soy sauce. The portions are big, but that means you can take it to go, and eat it at home. Their menu is also very diverse. They have many different kinds of soups, noodles, and rice. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to people who like authentic Thai Cuisine. read more
