Ordered take out and it was delicious!! We ordered the pad Thai, drunken noodles, red curry, broth soup and gyoza; everything was tasty and spiced well. The gentleman that gave me my order at pick up was super sweet. I'll definitely order again next time I'm in town read more

Not bad, as long as your set your expectations at a reasonable level and ignore those reviews proclaiming this place the best Thai food ever. A small shop that appears to be run by one very nice guy. Very limited menu. Things are cooked to order by this one guy over a hot butane stove and wok. For $6 you can get pad Thai, fried rice, or red/green curry. Chicken is the only meat option, otherwise you can get a veggie version of everything. The portions are generous considering the price, and everything tastes as you would expect for $6. Nothing great, nothing terrible, just perfectly mediocre Thai food. Nothing special about this place, and it can potentially be inefficient since he cooks everything to order and there is only one of him. Located on an alley on the downtown mall, across from Commonwealth, limited parking. read more

Sooooo so good!!! The man working was friendly and it smelt amazing in here. The service was quick and you could tell a lot of love and care went into the food. We got the spicy pad Thai and it was easily the best Thai I've eaten in Charlottesville. We will be back! read more

Thai Fresh - Pad Thai - Thai Near Me - Charlottesville, Virginia

Even though I no longer live in Charlottesville, I try to make it back here every time I visit. The owner is incredibly friendly (possibly the friendliest person in Charlottesville, which is saying something given that Cville is the friendliest city in America) and always makes his customers feel welcome. You can't help but leave with a smile on your face. The food at the price point ($6 for Thai fried rice; $6 for pad Thai; $2 for Thai ice tea) can't be beat! The Curries are also delicious. read more

My wife and I were looking around the Charlottesville downtown mall today for a lunch spot and stumbled upon this Thai restaurant. The food was excellent along with the service. The green curry was very good. The Tom Kha also had great flavor. We will be back. read more

The food was amazing. Had the drunken noodles and it's honestly the best I've ever had. The spicy is no joke and I loved it! Highly recommend if you like Thai food :D read more

Thai Fresh - Thai Near Me - Charlottesville, Virginia

Out of all the thai places in Charlottesville, the prices at this one definitely cannot be beat. For a pad thai, summer roll, and thai tea I only spent around $12; anywhere else that would've just covered a pad thai. You get a decently sized portion as well! This place is perfect for a quick stop if you're in the area. The menu is limited but has all the favorites and the owner/workers are always very kind. Definitely the spot to go if you're in a rush or don't want to spend that much! read more

Yum! Authentic stir fried noodle and rice dishes and thai tea. Quick service and an excellent value! Not much of an ambiance inside the restaurant, but you can also easily take your meal to go. Convenient location right off the downtown mall! read more

Best Thom Kha soup I've had in a while. Hubby had the fried rice and it was excellent, as were the gyoza. The restaurant is very small, not air conditioned and they use paper and plastic. Hope to see that change as they prosper. read more

I loved Thai Fresh. The homemade food tasted like it came off the streets of Thailand. Pad thai had the had a sauce that was both savory and a tad sweet, with the perfect amount of heat. The Thai dumplings we flavorful. Great bargain with both only costing $12. read more

We ordered the thai fried rice and the red curry along with some spring rolls. While the flavor was good on the entree, they were greatly lacking flavor and substance. In other words, it was rice and some black beans with three pieces of chicken the size of my thumbnail, one piece of broccoli and one piece of carrot. If I wanted plain rice, 6$ is a tad much to pay for that. My husbands curry dish was slightly better with 4 medium sized pieces of chicken but it was still not much. read more

Thai Fresh - I got the Thai fried rice and my husband got the red curry. While the flavor is good, it's mostly rice. Very very few veggies or chicken. - Thai Near Me - Charlottesville, Virginia

Thai Fresh is a tiny takeout place found just off of the downtown mall. The menu is small but still has a great variety. I ordered Tom Yum soup and green curry (which they happily made with tofu instead of chicken) all for just over $10... super affordable! They have a few tables for dining in, but the restaurant is small and it seemed like most people ordered takeout. Unfortunately I had to wait close to 20 minutes for the food, most likely because three others ordered takeout after I did. The green curry has some veggies and a protein of choice and comes with a heaping side of white rice. It was a little spicy and had a great flavor, though the tofu was a little spongey/chewy and not the best I've ever had. I got shrimp in my soup, which was delicious. However the tails weren't removed so I had to fish them out and eat them with my hands rather than eating them normally out of the soup. All in all, long wait and okay food-though parts could be a little better. read more

Very home-style cooking. Cheap, quick, and delicious. I mean, who could beat a $6 pad Thai?? Owner was extremely kind and I will definitely come back. read more

Super friendly, fast, reasonably priced. It is not the best thai in cville, but it is the best deal.

Adorable place, hidden on a side street off the main mall. The Pad Thai was delicious and the staff was super nice.

Exceptionally good locally owned fast food! Green curry, pad Thai, wonton soup--Everything is made fresh and is very tasty!

I love this place because it's awesome to have cheap options on the downtown mall, and the food is not too shabby either. The one guy who does all the cooking here is the absolute nicest, always has a huge smile and a friendly demeanor, so visits here are always good for a morale pick-me-up, both for the cheap, good food and the awesome service. For the price, the actual taste/quality of the food is good. It's not the best (tends to be pretty one-note in terms of flavoring - on the salty side because of the fish sauce they use), but for $6 a portion it's filling and tasty. I've had both the Thai Fried Rice as well as the Pad Thai, and my vote is for the Pad Thai. The lime they give with the Pad Thai portion helps cut through the saltiness and achieves a better balance in flavor. As someone who lives on the Downtown Mall, this place is a godsend. read more

This is really good thai food for what it is...fast, cheap, cooked when you order and with a limited menu. Really just curries and pad thai. Price point is in the 5-6 dollar range and it is a good size portion. The staff and owners are very friendly and cook it quickly. You can order it spicy if needed and it can get hot. I really enjoy the fact that it is simple, tasty and filling. Not extravagant but it doesn't pretend to be. I go here often when in need of a quick lunch on the mall. Definitely on the low end of lunch pricing on the downtown mall...and that void is badly needed if you live or work downtown. read more

Dumplings - awesome Pad Thai with tofu - mediocre. Slightly too salty. Tofu pieces were 95% fried batter 5% tofu. Service - awesome Would come back but would get chicken instead and request pad Thai sauce on the side rather than on the dish. If they are going to do tofu, then then need to start using tofu and not batter shaped like tofu. read more

When I saw the limited menu on a wooden board listing pad Thai chicken at 6$ I was skeptical. Then I took my first bite of this steaming dish of fresh pad Thai noodles swimming in a glaze of flavorful light orange sauce. My skepticism went out the door. The owner/ chef is very friendly and accommodating to my wife's vegan request. Two thumbs up for Thai fresh. We will be back. read more

My favorite Thai place in Charlottesville! Tommy (owner) is awesome and you can tell he puts love in his foods. This is a quick meal, limited menu but fast, fresh ingredients and made with love. Cannot beat this meal on the downtown mall in Cville. Cannot say enough good things about this restaurant, great pricing, friendly staff and delicious foods. read more

Fantastic place to grab a quick meal. I'll admit my experience with the menu is quite limited because I've become obsessed with the fried rice (try it spicy!), which is so flavorful that everyone I've suggested it to becomes hooked. $6 for the amount of fried rice you get is a really good deal in the downtown mall. The owner/chef is the coolest guy, always very friendly and seems happy to see you every time you walk into his store. Great food and friendly people - this is what a local restaurant should be! read more

Really liked the different options of Thai food in their menu. Had a couple of great Thai Gyoza dumplings pan-fried with dressing on the side, Tom Yom Kung Soup, Masaman Curry with Thai Fried Rice and also Pad Thai and it all was incredibly flavorful. I asked for lots of scallions with the Pad Thai and it was awesome. I think their food is exceptionally good and not too expensive as an option for Thai Food in Charlottesville. I would really recommend this place and might try it again soon. Juan B. read more

Thai Fresh is my favorite place to go in Charlottesville for Pad Thai. The chef was so welcoming, everything comes out quickly and the food is absolutely delicious. read more

This is an awesome place for a simple but delicious Thai meal. The menu is limited but hits the basics: Pad Thai, Red and Green Curries, Tom Yum soup, and dumplings. Most of the menu items are $5 or less. It's not fancy, but it's all freshly-prepared and for that price, I'll take the limited menu. The owners are also very sweet. They are so excited when people walk in and compliment the food. I'd definitely recommend this place for a good, cheap bite. read more

Thai Fresh is a quick and cheap stop for all those times you're craving good and affordable Thai food. Honestly my favorite part about this place is the man that runs it. He's so sweet and has the warmest smile. His passion and great personality just makes the place inviting and fun. I arrived on an empty stomach and ended up ordering majority of the menu. My favorites were probably their curries. I tried the massaman and green curry. The flavors in both were incredibly rich, creamy, and tasty. They generally were lacking in ingredients (ex. green curry didn't have any bamboo shoots) but they were very generous in protein and green peppers. The curries could easily make several meals if you just cook more rice! I also tried the Thai fried rice and pad thai. They were pretty good but didn't taste exactly like what I had expected. The pad thai was bit greasy and was spicier than I had expected. The Thai fried rice tasted more Chinese in my opinion because it contained a very Chinese chili paste. Nevertheless, it was still very yummy! I also sampled their pan fried dumplings. They were very much okay and could have been more crispy; however, I think it was a bit in a rush to cook them since we had ordered so much food. :) Also, their thai iced tea is only TWO DOLLARS!! Overall, I will definitely come back and try the rest of their menu. read more

Thai Fresh is awesome, this is some of the most authentic Thai Food my wife and I have come across in the entire country. We stopped here for Lunch, the place is small and tucked in on a side street off the walking mall in Downtown C-ville. Great prices for lunch and fantastic food. I would highly recommend the Red Curry if your in the mood for something a little spicy and cool it down with a Thai Iced Tea. The owner is enthusiastic and proud to serve his freshly made thai food. A little, surprising gem. read more

Simple menu that knows what it does well and sticks to it. Excellent value, lunch sized portions priced appropriately. Small basic eating space probably lets them keep overhead down to maintain affordable food. Good stuff, friendly staff! read more

Extremely disappointed by the food quality. Ordered Pad Thai, coconut curry, and kanom jeeb from here, and Pad Thai was the only thing that's remotely worth the price. The coconut curry was pretty much watered down coconut milk with no flavor, the rice that come with curry tastes aged and soggy. That kanom jeeb was awfully hard, I felt like I was chewing on tennis balls. Never gonna visit again. read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants downtown. I love their green curry and pad thai (which are both gluten-free and can be made vegetarian), and their iced tea is one of my favorite treats in Charlottesville. In addition, the two people who run the restaurant are really sweet and friendly (once they made a carry-out tray out of a cardboard box so I could take a iced tea to my friend as well). Thanks to you both for making this crazy, hot day so much better! read more

I ordered Pad Thai. I was not impressed at all, it was very average and possibly worse than average. The Pad Thai was spicy. I've had dozens of pad thais and I was just recently in Thailand for a month, I'm not used to spicy pad Thai. Also, there was far too much fish sauce. I doubt I'll visit this place again. Also I wish their selection was wider. There's no Pad See Ew. read more

Great Thai food with the cheapest prices possible on Charlotteville's Downtown Mall! The owners are super friendly and this replaced Song Song's prior (also a formerly great establishment). I live on 310 E Main Street (next to Urban Outfitters) and I've eaten from most of the places on the Downtown Mall. I can say for sure that this little hole-in-the-wall is a hidden gem. It's worth a quick stop if you're on your lunch break or on a budget and want decent Thai food. read more

The food always tastes good and the price is unbeatable. Stuff is served on Styrofoam, but that's kind of expected for the price. The owner is also often there and is always friendly and kind. I really liked the green curry and the pad thai. read more

LOVE this place. Seriously I probably come here at least once a week for lunch. Cheap, super fast, and really good. And the owner is so nice and friendly! Only complaint would be the styrofoam to go boxes! Would highly recommend that the owner switch to biodegradeable to go boxes. It would make a lot of us feel better than to know we're throwing more waste into a landfill! read more

This was such a great experience. My husband and I came to Charlottesville in December from North Carolina. Our favorite food to get when out together is Thai Food and Thai Fresh was excellent. We ordered for takeout and brought it back to our hotel room. The portions were generous and the food was super tasty and freshly made. The price can't be beat, either. We loved it!! read more

My dad and I stopped in here for a quick dinner before going to a concert at the Sprint Pavilion. We both got the Chicken Pad Thai which was good, especially considering the price ($6.00!). The menu is small, but very affordable, and the man who took our order and also cooked (I think he's the owner) was so friendly and happy. I would definitely order food from here again if I lived near the area. read more

Amazing Thai food at a good price!!! The coconut curry and drunken noodles are amazing

Consistently good place. Easily the cheapest place to get a warm meal on the downtown mall. The cook is very quick and friendly. The food is very consistent, as many others have said a bit on the salty side but that's how I prefer my Thai anyhow. The one complaint I could have is the lack of many other traditional dishes but I can understand based on the speed of service. read more
