Kate was very nice and helpful. First time here, did not disappoint!!! I thought I was going to walk into a cafeteria style kitchen where you choose your already cooked food and they plate it for you, quite the opposite! They cook every dish on the spot, veggies and choice of protein were fresh and tasty! You choose your dish from the menu on top, there's daily specials, the prices are reasonable but the portions are big. I asked for mine extra spicy but oh man! That dish was very spicy, so next time I'll choose medium spice** lol They have vegan and gluten free options upon request** overall very good and the choice of music was the cherry on top! Definitely coming back again to try the other plates. read more

It's called Thai EXPRESS for a reason. It's ok. They do have an issue with the soup spoons--the soup spoons are so tiny. You cannot enjoy your soup. Asked about having a larger spoon, and told that they don't have any! What!?! read more

Meh, it's neither Thai nor Chinese. It's kind of a weird mixture that doesn't know what it is. That yellow curry is made to be like a Chinese dish. Really weird. Doesn't do it for me. Figure out if you are Thai or not. Don't recommend. read more

This restaurant opened within the last month I was told by staff. They had quite a few staff on hand the day we dined. They were friendly and attentive. Unlike most Thai restaurants I've visited previously this one has a limited menu, much like most of the small Mexican restaurants in the area. You order at the counter vs at your table. They have 6-8 entrees that are shown on an illustrated board, a few appetizers and soups as well. They have daily specials at a reduced price. The wife and I both chose the Tuesday Daily Special; Pad Thai - chicken was our choice of protein. The kitchen is up front and within view of many of the tables. Our entrees were cooked fresh, after we ordered. We also ordered a "Mini" bowl of soup Chicken Tom Ka for her, Shrimp Thai Soup for me. I added a couple small mini egg rolls and some chicken pot stickers. The wife ordered a large spring roll with peanut sauce. The spring roll was very fresh and tasty and she loved the peanut sauce. My mini egg rolls were decent taste-wise, but weren't crunchy in the least. So that was disappointing. The chicken pot stickers were freshly pan fried and were good. My soup reminded me of a good Tom Ka but without the coconut milk. It had decent acidity with lemon grass, plenty of large shrimp that were unfortunately over cooked, lots of rice noodles and a tasty broth. Her Chicken Tom Ka was good she said. Our Pad Thai was interesting. We are accustomed to wide rice noodles but here they serve a more spaghetti sized. Different but it worked. The flavors were about as expected, maybe a tiny bit thick, but again, it worked. There was plenty of chicken and it was tender enough. They also included small cubes of what appeared to be deep fried tofu. Spice was as ordered. Because there is such a wide range of spiciness at Thai restaurants I ordered mine mild with the chopped spicy Thai red peppers, on the side. Her medium was perfect according to the wife. So overall rating is a 3 star. Good service, decent but not great food from a "smallish" menu. Perhaps it is because we are used to Thai restaurants in the PNW with expansive menus, vibrant tastes and table ordering that this isn't a 4 or 5 star rating. We WILL return and give them another try if only because the prices are reasonable AND the wait staff was so nice and friendly. read more

Me and my Dad went there to try it out and oh my gosh the food and the service was next level! The best Coconut Shrimp I've ever tried in my life, the dish was cooked perfectly the softness along with the crunchiness and amazing breading was just Top Notch! Also the Pad Thai is awesome exactly how Traditional Pad Thai is supposed to be Spicy, Sweet and yet Salty as well amazing and they give you very good portions. Will definitely be going there every time I visit my family from HTown. And they made My dad become a regular now. Best Thai spot in the RGV hands down! 10/10 Also they got killer soups! read more

Decent thai food in an area where thai food is lacking. Def to go style place, not very fancy.

The dishes actually look like the pics that they have up on Yelp. I would have taken a pic but I was so hungry and the food was so delicious, I couldn't wait The place is very clean and has nice minimalist decor. It's an open kitchen, so it's very sanitary and clean as well. Jacob was our server! He's very kind and let's you in on all the great deals and freebies! read more

Worst Thai food ever. EVER. UGH. Ordered Pad See Ew. Plastic like noodles. Wont be back

Wasn't surprised by the quality of food. I had a tom yum soup delivered to my apartment so maybe the reason it didn't taste as fresh because of that reason. I was expecting for there to be more flavor in the broth other than the taste of oil and MSG, but sadly it did not reach that expectation. With some slight modifications to the soup with a few ingredients I already had at home, I was able to make it more tasty, but I was still sad that the soup wasn't what i wanted it to be. I wouldn't say that it was bad, but the food just seemed to be poorly made without fresh ingredients. read more

The food here is delicious. My favorite is the pad Thai. I appreciate how it catered to my liking. Whenever I visit McAllen I will be sure to visit. Please support your local businesses. read more

The food was terrible. Incredibly bland. Every dish seems to be packed frozen pre-portioned. A group of four and no one liked their meals. The spring rolls were mush inside. You could tell they were frozen and the fried or put in an air fryer. Definable over priced. We will NOT return. read more

I purchase two soups: Tom Yum soup, Thai soup. The Tom Yum was ok. I first tried and fell in love with Tom Yum soup in Thailand so that is tough to compete with. The Thai soup was pleasant. I ordered them both spicy and wow they were but edible. read more

Very nice place. Will come back. Very friendly. The food was good and is big portions.

So happy to finally have a decent Thai place in McAllen! The other one on Ware is awful. The food is really tasty here. However, the spring rolls are a little too stuffed and fall apart on the first bite. They were a little stingy on the peanut sauce also. For the price, there could have been more curry and rice. I've always had it as more of a soup where I add the rice into the larger soup container. But I will definitely be back to try more dishes! read more

Great local tea place. Good service, great food. They can make things spicier which I enjoy in a Thai restaurant

Thai Express advertises gluten free but then posts disclaimer. Gluten free option: we cannot guarantee the complete absence of gluten. We do not recommend this as an alternative for people who suffer from celiac disease. if you're going to advertise gf, then learn what precautions are necessary such as cooking rice noodles separately from wheat noodles. read more

First time visitors thinking we were in for some authentic Thai food. Not a restaurant where you sit and they take your order. You order first at the counter than they bring out your food. I had the Orange Chicken with white rice, side of vegetable rolls and pot stickers, wife ordered Pad Thai with chicken. Two drinks total $ 37 plus. Nothing was freshly made, either preheated or in a heated buffet tray. Orange chicken was ok but drowned in orange sauce, rolls where three bites and done, pot sticker (frozen then thrown in fryer) were the only bright spot, dim not bright. The Pad Thai with chicken, gross! The chicken was old and chewy, I spited it out, disgusting. All look like preheat, nothing was fresh except the drinks. Save ur money, go to the mall food court or Panda Express. This is not Thai food, not even close. Won't last. read more
