The hotel was having a five course Christmas dinner, but we just weren't feeling it. So we braved the wind and cold and headed out. Oh my gosh, I am so glad we did. This little shop has the most delicious noodles and ramen! It's a lovely little restaurant that was warm and inviting. We started with the crispy salt and pepper chicken, which was everything it was promised to be. Not over breaded, it was perfectly crispy and wonderful with the spicy dipping sauce. Next, I ordered B1 (Szechuan pork noodle bowl) and hubby got B3 (Maya pork noodle bowl). The waiter cautioned him that it was spicy, but we were all in. It was perfect! Both bowls came with all the accompaniments and were exactly what we were hoping for in the storm. I highly recommend this place.

The space is cozy and very efficient, and despite the line, it moves fairly quickly. The open kitchen is right at the front, where you can watch a guy stretching fresh noodles by the window, which is fun to see. Once seated, ordering is super simple. They ask you three things: bowl size, noodle thickness, and spice level. We ordered three medium bowls and one large, and let me tell you, the large was ginormous. Portions are extremely generous. The noodles were perfectly cooked al dente, and the soup was light yet flavorful, not overly salty, which I really appreciated. Each bowl also came with a decent amount of thinly sliced beef shank, a whole marinated egg, and generous amount of scallions and cilantro. We also ordered the combo sets so we can try their appetizers too. My favorite was the spicy tofu strips. The chewy texture and bold flavor were excellent. My second favorite was the spicy cucumbers, which were slightly crunchy and salty, with garlic and chili peppers adding great depth. I usually prefer larger cucumber pieces for extra crunch, but these were still very enjoyable. The edamame with pickled greens was just okay compared to the others. Overall, my family and I really enjoyed this place and would definitely come back the next time we're in Montréal.

Sweet and sour chicken was ok, the sauce was good, I just would've liked a tad less breading on the chicken. The noodles were what I expected with beef, bean sprouts and green onions. Pan fried dumplings were good and a nice side.

We got the deep fried pork wontons ($5), crispy shrimps ($17.95) and house noodles with beef ($15.95). The fried wontons were really crispy. The wonton wrappers were all blistery. My only complaint is that the amount of ground pork in each wonton was very little, but I guess considering the price, I guess it's to be expected. Luckily the house noodles with beef had a good amount of beef in it. The beef was lean and tender. The noodles were a good texture and there was also broccoli, Bok Choy, onions, cabbage and carrots in it. This was my favourite of the 3 dishes we had. The shrimps were tasty too, but I felt less bang for our buck since the portion was small. The shrimps were crispy and there was diced onions and bell peppers mixed in. There were chili flakes too, so it was a bit spicy. Service was really efficient. Our food came out in record time. They also gave us 2 refillable bottles of water and as soon as we emptied one, they swapped it out for a full one. As soon as we finished a dish, they removed the empty dish from the table. The restaurant is really small, so the servers had an easy view of all the tables. It was almost comical how efficient they were, lol. This place is popular. They seem to have a lot of regulars. Decor is casual. We had a great meal and would return. Review #72 (2025)

My wife order the teriyaki chicken which comes with spring roll, white rice ,salad , and 4 teriyaki chicken skewers. The chicken was over cooked and was not eatable. The spring roll was to crispy (over fried ) and the filling was dried out. They brought one plum which the outside was sticky. I ordered the Shenzhen shrimp meal . It came with a salad , white rice and Shenzhen shrimp. The shrimp were nice size and was not fried . The dish overall was good. The waiter finally came after 15 minutes to see if wanted anything else. We told him the chicken was over cooked and uneatable 3.5 skewers left on plate . He said ok and walked away . He returned with our bill totally playing stupid in not understanding what we were talking about. My wife was still hungry as her main meal the chicken was unbeatable - they did not care and told me that it fresh chicken . Bottom line that the service was bad and the food other then the chicken was good. Sorry but when you challenge a customer on his dissatisfaction of your product clearly you do not listen nor care . We would have given them a second chance but their bad attitude does not warrant us for a retry . For the record we did not want anything free but to at least offer to replace the chicken ....

The new location is fine, but very open and in the winter, drafty and cold. I had the Japanese curry chicken and it was nowhere near as good as it used to be. The sauce was overly thin and lacked flavor. The fried vegetable rolls were decent but getting a package of pre-made generic plum sauce in a restaurant shows the lack of effort that was apparent for the whole visit. The rice paper rolls with peanut sauce were decent and the soup was basically broth with a few rice noodles and green onions, hardly qualifies as a soup. The service was also lacking, the waiter seemed unhappy to be there and did the bare minimum without daring to crack a smile. This restaurant does not warrant another visit, too bad, it used to be a sure bet.

They really don't do any seasoning to their broths, it's literally just the water from boiling meat, with added water. 1/5 Their noodles itself are great, very nice textures! 5/5 The only meat I liked was their braised beef! I'm really glad I ordered extra of that. Has a really nice texture and flavour is decent. 4/5 Their hot oil is a joke. It helped the meals a little but not enough to save them. I wouldn't pay extra for that again (1$ each). It's not hard to fry up some chilly pepper seeds in oil guys, come on. 0/5 Braised Beef Noodles - Nice noodles, broth wasn't as bland as the others, beef cubes were awesome. 4/5 Dandan Noodles - Nice noodles, cucumber was interesting, minced porc with it's sauce gets too diluted when mixed with their water broth so don't really taste it. Taste over all was a little nutty, sour and sweet which wasn't bad but just very weak. 3/5 Lanzhou Beef Soup Noodles - Missing coriander and green onion, not that it would have made a difference since the meat was so dry that even their bland broth could not bring it back to life. I didn't touch the dried egg lol Great noodles though. 1/5 Lanzhou Beef Special - Interesting spices, not spicy enough though, and I'm not a fan of dry style meats, though at least it wasn't as dry as the soup version. (my stoned friend thought it melted in his mouth and loved it). All the seasonings wash off when mixed into the soups, leaving the meat very bare tasting so i'm guessing it's not marinated for long as it hasn't soaked through, but helps give their broth a little more flavour. 3/5 Plenty of leftovers so I'm just gonna use all the broths as a base to make REAL soup or sauces at home and put those nice noodles and cubed beef to some good use. If I were to order again, I would just stick to the Braised Beef Noodles and use my own hot oil and veggies or turn it into a spicy stir fry. I am never... ever taking food advice from a stoner again... he enjoyed everything he tried on this menu as if it was something spectacular. I wish we had the same concept in some places outside of Canada, where the restaurant would offer an option of how diluted or rich a customer would like to have their broth.

Since I was with friends who have been before I followed their lead in ordering a number of different platters to share which was truly the way to go. Everything was absolutely delicious! They kept a close watch and came by regularly to fill our water glasses! The owner was right in there as well walking, serving, making sure everyone was taken care of. To top off the meal we had his Yuzu tea (hope I spelled that right) which just amazing. I'm definitely going back! :)

Something about hand pulled noodles always hit differently than other noodles. The spiced noodles had excellent flavour and every noodle was coated in the tomato sauce/chili oil. I didn't know you can adjust the spice level so it was a bit spicy for me, but tolerable. The beef noodle soup on the other hand was a lot lighter in flavour, soup was almost bland. Overall, great bowl of noodles with fair price to portion and definitely satisfies the cravings.

We got the "Original oil spilled noodles three in one" and the "Stir-fried noodles with vegetables and seafood". The food was hot and fresh when it arrived, and the plating was still beautiful. The hot chili oil on top of the "oil spilled" noodles packed solid heat! The pickled string beans were particularly good, and the beef was quite tasty. It could have used more coriander, and was just a tiny bit sweeter and less salty than what I would have preferred, but the flavours were really good overall! The seafood noodles only had shrimps as "seafood", but the flavours were also good. The main flavour profile was soy sauce, which complimented the stir-fried veggies well. I would have liked slightly larger portions with perhaps more meat, but the overall experience was good. The chewiness and freshness of their noodles is what stood out the most for me!

Please check them out if the other eateries look crowded. It's hard to find Guilin food in general since most cuisines are Szechuan, Lanzhou, Cantonese, or Northern China. Therefore, I'm glad a small family business has done this will. You will all know Guilin food for its ubiquitous snail noodle made popular in the media in the past few years, now sold in instant packets at the grocery store. I promise the real thing is better. You must order a hand pulled noodle here, and yes, these actually are hand made by knife and hand. Some places call themselves hand pulled but use a machine in the back which I argue should not be calling themselves hand pulled but maybe handmade. I recommend calling a soup noodle and a dry noodle to compare the flavors. We ordered a fried pig feet- this is actually not common because most places braise their pig feet. My husband attests it's very good and that's a rare statement from him since he has had a lot of pig feet in his life. Snail noodle soup- way better in person. The flavors are milder and toppings are way more. Soup is way salty though, so I don't recommend drinking but rather seeing it as more of a gravy. Call this if you are a noodle soup person looking for some spice and comfort. Dry noodle- ok we called one that was vinegar based and then we called the double fried pork belly one. Both had incredible noodle base. Double fried pork is probably the one most people will like better because of the chili oil, meat, and garlic flavor. Personally, I actually thought the vinegar base one was more refreshing although that is an acquired taste. Ask your waitress ahead of time to clarify the "base" flavor of the dry noodle before you order so you don't get a flavor profile you didn't expect. The waitress/staff here are friendly and don't look hassled. The environment was clean and does not feel greasy despite some of the dishes definitely needing a higher smoke point. I like the multiple plants botanical vibe here with contrasts with its smokier and heavier dishes.

You get 8 options of soup base for your noodles. I got a two chili peppers option and it was actually real spicy, which I loved. All noodles come with 10 small dishes that you have to add to your soup, which already contains plenty of meat. The noodles were real authentic, just as I remembered from Yunnan. The soup though was my favourite part; so flavourful I can drink it all day. One serving of noodles with the sides was plenty to fill me up but additional servings of noodles are free if you're really hungry! The price of the soup bases is around 11$, but an addition of meat is mandatory for 3$, so each bowl is actually really 14$. Well worth it for the quality and quantity! Overall a great addition to the Montreal Chinese food scene!
