A great place for a quick meal and freshly made noodles. SO and I stopped here along our walk after seeing the noodles being made in the front window. We ordered the pork noodles, side of spicy chicken leg (served cold), side of extra noodles, cucumbers and potato salad. SO enjoyed the pork noodles and I enjoyed my side of noodles in which I mixed the sauce/oil from the spicy chicken leg. The sides accompanied our main dishes nicely. Bottom line, the value, service and taste are all there!

This is one of the best Asian noodle restaurants I've been to. I understand why the line is always out the door. The menu is simple. The noodles are made everyday and you can watch the process from the window. The seating area is very small so you might be sat at a table with other customers. It's best to come either solo or with 1 or 2 other people, to ensure u get a seat. I could eat here several times a week. Do yourself a favor and go, NOW!

Get ready to perhaps share your table as this restaurant seats at the most 20 people. But it adds to its charm I suppose. The service was quick and nice. Cucumber salad lacked flavour. We added some vinegar and chili oil to pep it up. It wasn't crunchy though. We ordered the Oil Spill and the braised beef noodle soup. I do think the oil spill (dried noodles) is tastier but I'd definitely come back to eat either noodle dishes. It's simple and comforting.

Cold weather calls for noodle soup!! When it's cold outside, nothing beats a bowl of warm noodle soup! I've always wanted to try Nouilles Zhonghua! I passed by this small restaurant on a regular basis and I tell myself that I have to try it one day. I finally got the chance to try it out! Nouilles Zhonghua is a traditional hand-pulled noodle soup restaurant located in downtown Montreal, right in front of McGill University. They specialize in hand-pulled noodles and serve in a variety of broths. The noodles are prepared right in front of you! We ordered two of their special Lanzhou beef noodle soup (正宗兰州牛肉面). The noodles were fresh, chewy and had great texture! The broth was rich and flavourful! I can't wait to come back and try out the rest of their menu! They have a small seating area, so this place is packed during lunchtime. I often see a waiting line to dine-in or waiting for their takeouts. If you're craving for something comforting and authentic, I definitely would recommend to try this place out! Lanzhou Noodle Soup (S) ($9.99)

Pooh and I came here for lunch. We had the Zhonghua Special which included a noodle dish, a soup and a choice of salad. Both of us had the edamame bean salad. Everything was delicious and the service was fast. This restaurant lost one star because of the seating and tables - just too small and uncomfortable.

Considerably authentic Lanzhou hand-pulled noodles downtown Montreal! Place is small and crowded around lunch time. However, service is fast so you won't wait too long. A personal note: slightly too much MSG in the soup base, which is not uncommon.

If you're craving something comforting, warm and soupy close to McGill, this is the place. They don't have too much in terms of selection for their menu but that's usually how you know they do a really good job with what they have. You can choose different noodle shapes and sizes and I was speaking with one of their servers that they size and shape of the noodle does affect the taste! Their tendon noodle soup was fantastic. The beef pieces were so tender and delicate. The soup itself can be made spicy and the broth is absolutely fantastic. The noodles are also fun to eat. Plus, they give you A LOT of noodles. Service: excellent. They're always going around and filling up your water and giving you extra napkins. They're very friendly and sweet! Space/ambience: it's a pretty tight spot so you'll probably have to share with others. It's a great way to meet friends and also scope out what noodle and soup combo people are having.

This place replaces Pizza Navona. The space had been on sale for a while, and I kept wondering what business would set up there. Well, I'm pretty happy it's Zhonghua noodles! This noodle shop is very, very similar to "Nouilles de Lan Zhou", down to the color scheme of the interior and the items on the menu. I guess it could be from the same owner? The soup, noodles and toppings are virtually the same too. I won't complain though, this place is closer to my house haha! We went Friday evening and the restaurant was quite busy. It's rather small inside, with maybe ~20 seats. The kitchen is in the front by the door, so that passersby can observe the whack'n'stretch process of noodle making. There were two empty four-seat tables, but for some reason the waitress assigned us into a table with already one occupant, causing her to hurriedly stand up and drop her coat on the floor. We ordered two medium bowls of the signature beef noodles of "kuan" thickness (no extra toppings, no spices). The noodles arrived in a record time (less than 5 min). The soup and noodles were piping hot and delicious (although it got quite salty in the end)! I also felt that the noodle and beef portions were more generous than their Chinatown counterpart. The daikon was still skimpy (two thin slices). The total came to about 22$ before tips. A good deal!

The Long Version: I love hand pulled noodles, so my husband and I had lunch here. He's not a fan of noodle soups but agreed to come and just have appetizers, lol. I got the small-sized Spicy Mushrooms and Chicken Noodle Soup ($13.99). I chose the #6 size noodles which is the thickest noodles they offer. My husband got the imperial rolls ($4.50 for 3) and the fried shrimp wontons ($11.99 for 10). I really enjoyed my soup, especially the thick noodles. They were chewy and the right amount of softness. There were chicken pieces in it, mushrooms and a delicious "tofu sausage." It also had 2 pieces of baby Bok Choy and some pieces of kelp. I wished there was more vegetables. The soup also had green onions and cilantro. The broth was a tiny bit spicy from the chili oil. I am happy that this soup does not have sesame seeds in it, so I didn't have to ask them to hold the sesame seeds. Lol. My only complaint would be that the broth was a bit too salty and too oily for my tastes. I still thought it was good though. My husband enjoyed his appetizers. The imperial rolls were vegetarian. I didn't have any, but they looked like nothing special to me, haha. However, the hubby liked them which is what matters. The fried shrimp wontons looked good and he liked those too. Service was pleasant and efficient. The decor is casual with some fun touches. I liked the rotating lanterns with lights on the ceiling and the drawings of a big squid and clams on the walls. I would return to try their other noodle soups and also their handmade dumplings. Review #10 (2026)

The Long Version: My husband and I had dinner here and we really enjoyed it. I initially was going to get their soup dumplings (their specialty), but when I looked at the menu, I saw that they had Laksa ($18.99), so I couldn't resist ordering that instead. My husband prefers pan-fried dumplings over soup dumplings, so he got the pork and mushroom dumplings ($14.50) and there was a $1.99 surcharge for pan-frying (the base price is for steamed). My Laksa was huge and delicious. The broth was so rich with coconut milk and a bit spicy. It was really flavourful. The noodles had a nice chew to them. The soup also contained some decent-sized shrimp, velvetized sliced chicken, cubes of tofu and a boiled egg. I wished it had some vegetables in though because I felt very unhealthy eating just starch and protein, lol. I did enjoy it though ;) I had one of my husband's dumplings and it was good. It had ground pork in it and chopped up mushrooms. There was a slight gingery taste to it. I liked it and my husband liked them too. Service was very pleasant. The server refilled our waters regularly and I like that the water had ice in it and was very cold. The restaurant is not too large and has seating on a main level then up a few steps they have 4 more tables of 4 by the front window. We walked there from our hotel, but as with pretty much all businesses in The Plateau it's street parking only. Review #209 (2025)

Very few American-Chinese//Canadian-Chinese dishes on the menu - though they exist. This may be a regional Chinese restaurant but I do not recognize the region. One visit and three dishes convinced me I have to go back rather than just eating around town. In the not to be missed department: Mushrooms fried in egg yolk. These are the most interesting fried mushrooms you will ever have. They are also the richest fried mushrooms you will ever have. You will adore every single bite - and if you are lucky you can eat 1/3 of a serving before being totally full. I believe the trick here is that the batter is 100 percent egg yolk no white no nothing else. They also do a salt and pepper tofu that is creamy on the inside and crispy on the outside. How often do you see that? Braised seafood in ginger and garlic is the same dish you see in many other Chinese establishments but is lovely here. The squid is tough but the ginger is to die for. I am eager to get back. * * * * P.S. I DID get back. We ordered five more dishes. The amazingness quotient continues. Don't miss their fried spareribs.

As we loitered a family came out and noticed us and asked if were were going to Keung Kee. We said we were thinking about it and they said just go, it is the best restaurant in Chinatown. Sold. We went in, up the stairs, waited a bit, and got a table. This is the kid of place you need to bring a lot of people because that is whet it is built for, the menu is extensive, and the portions are huge. We puzzled over the menu then ordered our food. We wanted a bottle of cold sake and the waiter brought it in an ice bucket. Nice. We started with the pork dumplings. The dumplings were very goof but came in a hot thick sweet peanut sauce. With a lighter sauce these would have been outstanding. The scallop was huge and had a bunch of stuff on it. There was some good scallop flavor but it was masked with all the stuff that tasted like old oil. The noodle dish was good but also had some old oil flavor coming from somewhere. All the meats and vegetables were nice and fresh but the good sauce I think was the source of the oil. We saw a table next to us had the pork chops and was asked, what are those? So we got that too. The chops were thin bone in with a batter fried then soaked in a vinegar sauce. These would have been good as our only item with a bowl of rice. Our co-eaters there had many good looking things. I would give this a try again but would bring a few more people so we could try more stuff. Total for all that including the sake was $100 Canadian. Not bad!
