Take it from someone who is used to their location in chinatown: it does not compare to the actual restaurant! Really bland in flavour. Meat is not the same and looks suspicious. Broth tastes like instant soup mix rather than beefy, fatty broth. The noodles were the right texture but didn't have enough sauce or seasoning as it does at the restaurant. This is basically the fast-food version of the original beef brisket with dry noodle-the half-assed version. You also get way less food for the same price. I usually can never finish the bowl and today I was very capable. Lackluster!! Will not be returning but I still love NUDO on St-Laurent. This location gives it a bad name :/

Had never heard of Nu-Do before. Apparently, they are a chain because I saw them in a few other places in Montreal during our vacation. This particular Nu-Do is located in the food court of the Eaton Centre. We were attracted to this place because we saw them making the noodles right in front of us! Very cool! Ordered the Soupe Et Jarret De Boeuf (Beef Shank with Soup) for $8.95 This was a really tasty bowl of goodness. Everything from the broth to the vegetables to the beef was good. The best part, though, was the noodles! Fresh and yummy noodles was what made this order really stand out. Would absolutely stop in here again.

I found Nu-Do after reading Jennifer K's review list of restaurants to try in Montreal (http://www.yelp.ca/list/a-weekend-in-montreal-part-3-montreal-3). After a long day of shopping, I decided to give it a try. Normally food court food will be frozen and heated up or fast food that is filled with calories. Not with Nu-do. Each dish uses hand made noodles that is made fresh to order. During my visit, I ordered the noodle soup with chicken and my brother ordered the noodle soup with beef. The noodle soup with chicken tasted amazing. The noodles had a nice texture and were cooked amazingly. The broth also tasted delicious as it was filled with flavour. My brother said that the noodle soup with beef tasted awesome and the noodles were the best part of the dish. Nu-do exceeded my expectations. The fresh noodles and tasty broth is not something found in a food court. I recommend this to everyone looking for food to eat after shopping. It earned all of its five stars.

It's one of those places where they make their own noodles by hand. You the spin then slap the counter with the noodles, and then they pull, bend, pull again, bend again, and pull again. Sure it's in the food court of Eaton Center in Montreal... However it's fresh pasta and whatever culture you look at, fresh pasta/noodles just freaking rock. There are only about 8 menu options. Noodles, with some meat (Pork, Chicken or Beef) with delicious baby Bok Choi, broth and of course the noodles. For a food court restaurant which permits the owner to print money without putting a good product, I can't find anything wrong with this delicious fresh noodle bowl. We're talking straight up, no-frills noodles but it works. Me likey :D

This is a unique food court option - nothing similar in terms of freshness & entertainment. It's located in the Montreal Eaton centre on the bottom floor. The chef spins, stretches and slaps the dough on the counter. He then separates the dough into fresh noodle goodness. It certainly attracts a crowd! You select from about 8 different options including, pork, beef chicken and vegetable. Portions are a decent size and priced between $7 - $9 per bowl. This is probably the first time I tried freshly made Udon noodles and it really makes a difference. These are damn good noodles. I ordered the vegetarian soup and it was served with Bok Choi, mushrooms and lot's of green onion. I thought the broth was slightly oily but still good overall. I will be back the next time I'm in Montreal to try some of the other options. PS - If you sit near the restaurant, it gets very LOUD. The dough is slammed against the counter over and over again, it actually scared me a few times. BK

This place is cool! I've never seen anything like this in a food court. It's such a great show watching the chef pull the noodles right in front of you. It's like watching a true pizza chef flipping the pizza. They only serve noodles here - hence the name. So please don't ask them to substitute it for anything. :-). It's located on the 1st floor of the Eaton Centre. I had the BBQ beef shank noodle soup for $8.95. The noodles were pretty good and there was ample beef shank. Sometimes this is a problem with food court food in that give plenty of carbs and very little meat. It's kind of the exact opposite here. I kind of wanted more noodles, but I can't really complain since I got a show out of it and were made right in front of my eyes, literally! What I liked was that they put the soup in a separate bowl so that you could appreciate the noodles before pouring the broth on it, however I would have preferred if the broth was a bit hotter. It was warm but I like my food piping hot. Despite the broth not being to my liking temperature wise, when you combined it with the hand-pulled noodles, it made for an awesome light snack. Verdict: Come see a quick show and a good light snack. To ponder: I hope they have more than one noodle puller during busy hours because it did take around 7-8 minutes for my meal to be prepared and that could end up in a huge line during the lunch rush.

Fresh hand pulled noodles...yum!

Needed a quick brunch and it came to me in the bottom level of the Centre Eaton in Montreal. What a treat to get hand pulled noodles in a nice air conditioned space with free WiFi. I needed a place to escape the heat and humidity and this worked....now to go find a cold beverage. Note to Self: "balancing your carry-on luggage and a big bowl of soup is tough normally. Good job not burning yourself or others with a broken clavicle on top of everything". Why thank you Self!

Le Roi du Wonton - Rice that came with General Tao Shrimp

I have had Le Roi du Wonton on my list of places to try for years now, but they aren't open on the weekends and when we come to Montreal, it's usually just for the weekend. However, we were in Montreal on a Friday and early enough to dine there before they closed at 7pm so I finally got to experience their delightful wontons. I ordered their famous namesake, the wonton soup ($6.99) and my husband got the General Tao Shrimp ($17.99). My husband was so excited to see General Tao Shrimp on the menu. It was our first time seeing such an item. He LOVES General Tao Chicken and he LOVES shrimp, so he had to get the General Tao Shrimp. He loved it! His dish had 10 large and juicy shrimp battered and deep-fried with a sweet, spicy and sour sauce on top with onions, carrots, bell peppers and green onions. The sauce was reminiscent of the sauce on sweet and sour pork, but with a spicy kick. I had one shrimp and agree that it was fantastic. His dish came with a small bowl of white rice. My wonton soup was also delicious. It came with 5 huge wontons. Like the biggest wontons I've ever seen in my life, lol. They were filled with ground pork. The filling was a little saltier than I like, but I don't eat a lot of salt, so I think most people would think it's fine. It had some chopped up lettuce, thin slices of omelette, seaweed, some pickled vegetable that I could not identify, and green onions. Very tasty and such a good price! We got a pot of complimentary jasmine tea to start. And for dessert we were given complimentary wafers. Two sweet little old ladies ran the show when we were there. They were very welcoming. And they practiced excellent hand hygiene. They were both cooking in the kitchen when I went up to pay. One of them washed her hands before and after cashing me out at the register. The place is very utilitarian. You do not come for the decor. They seem to have some faithful regulars though. When we were there a lady who appeared like she perhaps came every Friday as when she arrived she announced it's Friday and she was greeted like they were expecting her. She ordered a dish to eat there and one to take away afterwards. I can see why they would have a loyal following. I definitely recommend! Street parking only, as expected for this part of town. We walked over from our hotel. Oh, it's cash or debit only. They don't take credit cards. (116)

They seem to do a fair bit of takeaway for bubble teas and foods. We were seated quickly and the menu was accessible via a QR code, except the code printed on our table was so faded that our scanner didn't recognise it and we had initial trouble loading up the menu. There was another of the same code printed on a specials menu, which is how we got our menu up. The food took about 10 minutes and there were a few other groups dining in. The vasir rice is something we had wanted to try for a few months, and it was overall worth the wait, although it's still not my all-time fave minced pork rice. The pork was tender and thankfully they serve a good amount of juice so the whole thing wasn't dry, which has been an issue with some other versions of this dish elsewhere. The use of stir fried veggies is interesting and again something we haven't seen elsewhere, and while it's not my fave, it's one of the better versions we've had. I initially balked at the seemingly copious amounts of sauce over the cheese potato korokke, but apparently we needed all that sauce and, while is rather not have cheese in my korokke, it was cooked like it should (crisp on the outside, tender inside) and was tasty. Staff come around with a handheld EFTPOS for payment, and it was all in all a pretty seamless experience. I would return for the same and other stuff in the future.

We ordered: General Tao poutine ($16) Fried squid tentacles ($7) Iron plate noodles ($14) Oyakodon ($13.45) Beef noodle soup ($13.25) Drinks: Dark oolong creamy ($5.75) Aloe lemonade winter melon ($5.7) Passion fruit green tea ($5.8) Pretty decent size portions here! The general Tao poutine was surprisingly really delicious and unique! It used sweet potato fries and instead of gravy, a sweet savory sauce! The squid tentacles were super crispy. The iron plate noodles were kind of basic. It straight up tasted of just black pepper. The oyakodon was pretty okay too. The beef noodle soup had really chewy noodles and the beef was good but portion was smaller than I thought. Don't order this if you can't handle spice! The drinks were especially good and extremely worth it if you order their biggest size! Love that they come with so many options and toppings.
