A couple of years ago, my cousin had food catered from this restaurant at their party. The food was amazing, I couldn't wait to go to restaurant and have the food again. For the appetizer, the fried calamari was good. Can't complain. For the main course, I had the Emerald cashew nut chicken, this was the dish I was looking forward to having again. Man was I DISAPPOINTED, it was extremely dry. The vegetables in it was fresh but the protein was disgusting. I explained to the waitress, it was to dry and she didn't respond other then okay.... My husband had the masaman chicken curry, he also was disappointed. He felt like the corrects were not fresh, instead from a can. Hopefully last evening's dining experience was just an "off" night for Thai Emerald.We have been coming to this restaurant for years(actually since the day they opened) and more often than not, it had been a pleasant experience. However, recently,we have noticed a slow decline in the quality of the food. Last night was a complete disappointment. We ordered a hot pot of the Tom Yum soup for a starter. We had to return it twice because the temperature was unacceptable(less than luke warm) when we mentioned this to two different servers, our feedback was met with indifference and no attempt to right the situation. We opted not to have it reheated a third time. This soup was bland broth with very few mushrooms and nonexistent cilantro. The shrimp tasted rubbery and dry...reminding you of the pre-cooked ones you often find on the ready-made appetizer tray at the grocery store. The fresh basil rolls have always been a favorite choice for us. Last night they tasted extra sticky, chewy and old. It seemed as if they were not made to order, but had been pre-made and sitting in the refrigerator. The Nam Tok was just unpleasant in appearance and flavor. The inside of Thai Emereald is nicely decorated and pretty. When weather permits, sitting on the patio is enjoyable. I hope the food and customer service will return to what it once was. If not, there are plenty of great restaurant choices in the area. read more

I was craving Thai and this place had good reviews so we gave it a try. We ordered to go. I got the Pad See Ew. It was a big let down. The chicken and noodles were dry and tasteless. It definitely needed more sauce. I expected better for $13. On top of that, i later found a piece of hair in it. My husband had the Penang Curry which was just okay. I am from Los Angeles where there is an actual neighborhood called Thai Town and I last lived in San Francisco, the Asian food capital of the US. WIth that being said, I know my Thai food and Thai Emerald is the real deal. I had lived in Roswell for probably about six months before I grudgingly decided to give it a try. What can I say, I felt I couldn't take another disappointing ethnic food experience in these parts. All I have to say is thank goodness I gave it a try. Thai Emerald has become our go-to when ordering in and we love to occasionally eat there, the decor is cozy and service is friendly. Everything we've gotten is good, but the basil fried rice is the one dish we ALWAYS get. Oh and I can't forget to mention their heat levels....I myself don't think food is spicy enough until I break a sweat and get a runny nose. Well I decided to order a few dishes "hot" one night and I almost couldn't eat it! Not for the faint of heart, these people know their spices! I've learned that on the Thai Emerald heat scale I'm more of a "medium spicy" kind of girl. read more

Note: Takeout lunch portions are somewhat small considering the cost but the food is good(i know its not uncommon for takeout portions to be smaller than dining in but it should be noted as not all establishments do this). As a basis of comparison, Thai House lunch portions were more(not to mention cheaper) but the comparison ends where Thai Emerald has better food. I use to go to satay house but its a tad bit father out for me and there food isn't as good as thai emerald but you will certainly get more bang for you're buck there. read more

I had dinner tonight at Thai Emerald and the Angel noodles were fantastic! My server was nice and knowledgeable. I was let down that the food came out slow, but my guess was because they had a large party of about 30+ people that came before us. I will definitely be back and hope it won't be so crowded. This restaurant is very clean and the food is fresh. We had Beef salad for our appetizer and it was excellent! For our entrees my family ordered the Emerald Special which was amazing! I had the Hot garlic Sea bass which was absolutely astounding. My son had the Satay and it was so good that he did not want to share with anyone! We also had the Flaming fried ice cream for dessert and I was surprised that it was actually lit on fire! Our waiter was polite and very friendly. I was very excited to read the reviews, but the food was disappointing. Started off with shrimp rolls which were excellent then it went downhill from there. Num tok meat was too tough and contained too many competing spices. Calamari was okay. Penang chicken was super hot - should have been assigned 4 hot chili peppers vs. 2. In summary, not even close to quality at my favorite - Annie's Thai Castle. Guess I will have to continue making the drive to Buckhead for truly great Thai food. read more

We have come to Thai Emerald several times in the 12 years we have lived in Roswell. I brought my Mom tonight for a dinner out, and we were left wondering why we do not come here more often! The atmosphere is nice. Not too fancy, but it is easy to carry on a conversation. The service was excellent. Anytime it looked like a plate was empty, the plate would be cleared. All of the servers would attend to you but were never obtrusive. There was no waiting to flag down "your" server. The food. Wow. It was exceptional tonight. Reasonably priced, and worth every penny. For 12 years I have found that the service is consistently excellent, the food is good-to-fantastic, the atmosphere is elegant enough for a business lunch or a nice date, and the prices stay reasonable. If you're looking for value try lunch here, as opposed to dinner. I've eaten a lot of Thai, all over the country. Thai Emerald ranks high in authenticity. These are not your over-sweetened, thick sauces that many places do, to appease the American palate, though you have to emphasize extra spicy if you want the Thai hot experience. Based on the many positive Yelp reviews, my husband and I decided to celebrate our anniversary at Thai Emerald. The restaurant decor is elegant with white table cloths and they even have a nice outside dining area. It was a Sunday night and quiet inside, so we were able to have a nice conversation while dining. Our server was very attentive, but let us take our time in choosing our selections. We ordered the chicken satay for an appetizer. It came with 5 generous sized chicken pieces which were delicious and extremely tender. This was the best chicken satay that I've eaten anywhere. We ordered the red snapper and the red curry with shrimp and scallops. The heat of the dishes were exaclty as ordered and both had excellent flavor. Our server gave us a complimentary mango ice cream to celebrate our anniversary. it had a mild mango flavor and was delicous! We will definately come back to try more Thai dishes! read more

This restaurant is one of our favorites and one we come to again and again. They have multiple healthy, vegetarian options and the food is always consistently good (make sure to request soy sauce or they will make it with fish sauce.) We had the green tea ice cream one time, and it was a massive portion. All of their meal portions are large, as well. The ambiance is also really nice. There are not too many places that have a homey feel like this. There are nice candles and lighting at all the tables. The outdoor patio has a cute little fountain and lighting. It's "cozy." The price is also very reasonable - usually about $11 for a tofu dish. We try other restaurants but none have lived up to this one so we keep coming back. The service is sometimes spotty, but it's not so bad to keep me away, and food is good. Give Thai Emerald a try. read more

Very inconsistent. Sauces are always good but the entrees vary. One time the entree is full of meat and vegetables and the next it is three pieces of Chicken, 2 bites of carrot and loaded with onion. They need some quality control. We use to go once a month but not anymore. We've done take out and experienced the same thing. One entree in our order will be good and one will be filled with onions and peppers and no protein. They also give you a small cup of rice for one person and then charge you for extra. They have gotten very cheap. It's a shame because they use to be very good. read more
