    Drunken noodle with chicken

Good food, and very reasonably priced for the quality and portion size. Large menu, and most of what I've had is good. Very good curry and noodle dishes in particular. Staff are friendly and service is usually quick. I don't really have anything negative to say about this place.

a plate of noodles and shrimp

I got the Shrimp Pad Thai and Tofu Prik King. The pad Thai did not have the orange/brown color I'm used to. The noodles were white and tasteless. The Prik King was not any better. Did not have the Thai spices I'm accustomed to. Both dishes were tasteless and expensive. Very disappointed. Not authentic Thai food

    Vegetable spring rolls

I didn't have high hopes of authentic Thai but I was really hoping that it would be at least manageable. In my experience I have not really ever have food I using eat well.... I ordered beef w broccoli, brown rice and spring rolls. First, beef was bland and unseasoned but tolerable after I poured about a half of a cup of sauce aka brown water that had no seasoning at all like the broccoli was boiled and not strained well which water downed the entire meal. The brown rice was sub par, over cooked brown minute rice at best. Now, the spring rolls were not edible and I never throw food away food (big guys like me never do)! This is literally what I opened up to. It was like someone had chewed already. Clearly, the staff need better training because they are not even rolls. The wrap was sticky and gooey which was a horrible texture to eat. It was gelatinous!!! Now, I typically would have called the restaurant and politely shared my feedback but this restaurant may not have a good business culture. My order was about $21 and to go. I know some people don't even tip to go orders because the person get a tip basically for 2 min to take your order, not a lot of work like sitting down. But, I try to support people and share the small privileges that I'm afforded. I'm very lucky to travel for work and to see such lovely communities like this one. I'm from NY and have an appreciation for small communities. I was shocked and disappointed that after leaving a $5 cash tip that usually wait staff where I'm from appreciate. With cash they don't have to wait like with CC tips. Now I know $5 isn't a lot but it's also the kind thought that matters especially to people who work for tips. Here's the worst no thank you or acknowledgment that's an oh well whatever but then don't tell me that I have to pay .50 cents for a little extra sauce that is made in house and probably cost pennies to make. So, it sucks to have a bad meal but that's not why I'm writing this. If I'm going to have a bad meal let it be from people who are not so greedy they can't treat people like humans and be grateful when kindness is shown to them. Ugly unkind humans have no place for my energy and patronage.

It used to be so much better. The proprietress passed away, and now they don't have wait staff, and the food isn't good. Meh.

Visited Potsdam for one week. This is most authentic Asian food in local. Almost went there everyday!

This is my absolute favourite Thai restaurant in Ontario. I keep trying out other Thai-specific…read moreplaces, and I've yet to find one that matches up with Thum's Kitchen. Once upon a time, this restaurant used to be a very small kiosk located alongside a rural road in the small village of Moose Creek. It was very popular as a take-out sort of venue, and the menu was far more limited back then. Eventually, the family expanded and moved their business out to the city of Cornwall, taking over a large Bavarian-style building that has housed a litany of restaurants that never seemed to stick around for very long. Not so for Thum's, however. This place is a cornerstone in Cornwall. It's very popular and if you plan on going on the weekends and evenings later on in the week, I suggest you call in and make a reservation just in case. The hours are a little strange, and there's been a few times I've driven down there on a whim only to find out it was closed (I'm one of those lazy persons who doesn't bother to learn businesses' hours of operations. I know, I know!) This place is authentic. The decor is extensive with a lot of unique pieces from Thailand. Not your typical travel posters and framed prints. There are huge carved wood sculptures, 3D reliefs on the walls, etc. The tablecloths are culturally-inspired, the silverware is unique enough that I've had to restrain myself from pocketing an elephant-ended fork on more than one occasion. Lastly, the music is good, and the clothing worn by the servers is traditional Thai, as well. It's an entire production, to say the least, and it's lovely. The menu is probably the most extensive I've witnessed as well. It's also peppered with little anecdotes and factoids about Thailand, including country facts, food and eating customs, and do's and don'ts of etiquette. The food itself is amazing, I've sampled and had several of their dishes over the years, but I am going to personally confess that I ended up going for my own personal sweet, sweet addiction- red curry. They make a mean Gang Dang. In fact, I haven't even found this specific dish anywhere else, nor have I had a dish with bamboo shoots in Ontario that wasn't from a can *except* at Thum's Kitchen. They use fresh, and it's an entirely different creature all together. Buttery yet crisp at the same time. Oh yeah, baby. Bathrooms are downstairs and are suitable and serviceable enough. The only downside I can find about this place is that it doesn't seem to be wheelchair accessible. I may have missed a side or alternate entrance, though, so don't take my word for it on that-- call first and see because I may be wrong on that note.

This place is decorated with Thai accessories and old wooden furniture from the previous business I…read moreguess. The staff, mostly women are dressed in what I presume is traditional wear. It seems that it is family run. They have a broad thai menu. I stay away from curries so I prefer stir fries. I enjoyed a pork and veggie dish. I scared them by asking low spice level. It was nice but needed more heat. I added spicy oil to get more flavour. I enjoyed my lunch.
