My wife and I discovered this place sort of randomly tonight and, seeing where we haven't had Thai food since moving to the area a year ago, decided to give it a try and.... WOW! It's a little different in that you order at a counter and then the food is delivered to your table. I thought it was a little odd, but it actually worked out really well. The food came out within seconds of it being done cooking! The entire staff were friendly, welcoming and they definitely know the menu, which was helpful for us as we had a hard time choosing. We started out with fried pork dumplings and they were amazing! We've always had a ginger sauce with dumplings at other Thai restaurants we've been to, but the sauce here is absolutely perfectly paired with the dumplings. The dumplings were filled well, perfectly fried and were great on their own - but with that sauce, they were elevated to a whole new culinary delight! My wife had a mango curry (not my thing!!) and she said it was very, very good. She liked that the mango was very fresh as were the vegetables. She added chicken and said that there was a lot of chicken! She also had Thai iced tea and proclaimed it delicious. I ended up choosing pad Thai, which kind of felt like too much of a safe choice. But, having never been here, I wanted to try something that I knew how it should taste as I've had it in many different Thai restaurants. It was spectacular!! It was the best pad Thai I've had in a very long time, way beyond what I expected and chock full of chicken. Not at all greasy, very fresh tasting and very satisfying. The portions were generous and we thought the prices were reasonable, given the quality of the food and the amazing service. The restaurant was recently remodeled and has a really nice, welcoming vibe. We didn't notice the patio until we were eating, but it overlooks the river and looks very nice. The restaurant has changed a lot since their mother's passing, and not for the positive. :( I ordered take-out here Saturday night - Thai Fried Spring Rolls, Chicken Satay, Basil Stir-fry (with shrimp), and Red Curry (with chicken). The spring rolls came four to the order and smaller than the circumference of my ring finger. Mostly all spring roll wrappers with a little vegetable in them and the sauce bland. The chicken satay was good, but the peanut sauce was pretty watery. This is a common theme for the rest of the meal - watery. I was expecting a thickish brown sauce with the Basil Stir-fry, but it was the consistency of water. It came with a LOT of onion and green pepper, a few mushrooms, and only five small shrimp. Not good. The red curry, also something I expect to be thicker, was like water. It had more chicken in it, but the whole dish was bland with no spice at all. The bright spot was the Thai Tea - it was velvety and sweet, delicious. A note on the POS system - for take-out, the tip is set to the options of 20%, 25%, and 30% by default. :/ For a 20% tip on take-out, your meal better be very good. This was WAY off the mark. This is the third time I've tried in 1.5 years hoping for improvement. Sadly I'll stick to Thum's or Thai Khmer in Cornwall. read more

So I'm updating my review for a few reasons. The first few times we had take out, it was perfect. The last few times? Not so much. I'd much prefer to say the just fixed their issue and moved along but that wasn't the case. This last time, a Thursday evening around 445 pm we placed an order. It was quite large ($90). However, the missed an order of pho and added our side of beef to the spiciest noodle dish (that also had squid on it). That we had. So we had to drive back to town to get the pho. And they wouldn't replace the beef. To some, the beef soaked in that sauce wouldn't have been a big deal, but it was Uber spicy sauce and has seafood in it. Sigh. The owner would make a new $3 side of beef or refund us. Do one kid didn't have meat. Just super frustrating. And the basil stir fry I ordered was tasteless and not basil stir fry, no basil to be seen anywhere.‍ read more

I got the Shrimp Pad Thai and Tofu Prik King. The pad Thai did not have the orange/brown color I'm used to. The noodles were white and tasteless. The Prik King was not any better. I didn't have high hopes of authentic Thai but I was really hoping that it would be at least manageable. In my experience I have not really ever have food I using eat well.... I ordered beef w broccoli, brown rice and spring rolls. First, beef was bland and unseasoned but tolerable after I poured about a half of a cup of sauce aka brown water that had no seasoning at all like the broccoli was boiled and not strained well which water downed the entire meal. The brown rice was sub par, over cooked brown minute rice at best. Now, the spring rolls were not edible and I never throw food away food (big guys like me never do)! This is literally what I opened up to. It was like someone had chewed already. Clearly, the staff need better training because they are not even rolls. The wrap was sticky and gooey which was a horrible texture to eat. It was gelatinous!!! Now, I typically would have called the restaurant and politely shared my feedback but this restaurant may not have a good business culture. My order was about $21 and to go. I know some people don't even tip to go orders because the person get a tip basically for 2 min to take your order, not a lot of work like sitting down. But, I try to support people and share the small privileges that I'm afforded. I'm very lucky to travel for work and to see such lovely communities like this one. I'm from NY and have an appreciation for small communities. I was shocked and disappointed that after leaving a $5 cash tip that usually wait staff where I'm from appreciate. With cash they don't have to wait like with CC tips. Now I know $5 isn't a lot but it's also the kind thought that matters especially to people who work for tips. Here's the worst no thank you or acknowledgment that's an oh well whatever but then don't tell me that I have to pay .50 cents for a little extra sauce that is made in house and probably cost pennies to make. So, it sucks to have a bad meal but that's not why I'm writing this. If I'm going to have a bad meal let it be from people who are not so greedy they can't treat people like humans and be grateful when kindness is shown to them. They are the only Thai restaurant around Potsdam, NY, at least from what I've seen. I didn't get to try much food as it was only my mother and I. We ordered the pad thai, obligatory for thai restaurants, and tom kah soup with a side of plain noodles. The noodles were $3 extra which is on the higher end but pretty normal I think, at least for someone coming from California. Food rating: The pad thai was tasty. It doesn't come in the traditional red/orange color but a pale white. Texture was just the right amount of chewy. It was a little sweet tho, imo. But, you can adjust by adding lemon or lime. The Tom Kah soup comes in single or family size (approximately 2 people). There was to much coconut milk and not enough sour to the soup. Again, on the sweeter side. It comes with a ton of mushrooms and about 5-6 shrimps in a family sized bowl. Noodle is extra Service: Less than average After being seated and ready to order, it took a while for a server to take our order. I had to wave someone down for a few minutes. It was difficult getting someone to assist you, often having to go up to the counter to ask for something. I understand during busy hours service is going to be hectic but, I'm not sure if the young gentleman working there does not take orders or answer any questions because even though he noticed I was looking for assistance, he ignored me. Buffalo, where I live, has an embarrassment of riches when it comes to Indochinese food as a result of the many refugees having settled in the city. (The white person food, on the other hand, is atrocious.) So I'd probably call Thai Cusisine a three in a bigger market, but people in Potsdam gotta eat too, and you could do a lot worse than this. We did drunken noodles at "Thai hot" (which was not Thai hot, but they tried), volcano tofu (a bit squishy, but serviceable), veggie dumplings (very good) and these fish nugget thingies with sliced cucumber that were really quite tasty. They did forget to give us napkins or forks, but it's an imperfect world. Given how famously undemanding college students are when it comes to food, I wasn't expecting great things from the Potsdam food scene. I didn't find them, either, but this was a solid option that I'll probably repeat when back for my second COVID shot in three weeks. read more

While visiting SUNY Potsdam we stopped at Thai Cuisine for dinner on a Friday night. As expected the place was packed due to the good reviews I had heard but we were seated within 10 minutes. Everything we had from the appetizers (spring rolls) to the entrees were tasty and served hot. If you're a fan of Thai Iced Coffee is recommend that as well. read more

She was a very nice lady, very hospitable and did a great 5 star job in comparison. This guy has ruined his mother's great reputation. The food used to be excellent the restaurant was clean & comfortable furniture and importantly served on dishes with silverware. Now the food is thrown together on plastic or paper containers like take out stuff. The interior was de-renovated & the furniture is cheap & uncomfortable and doesn't even look nice. You pay for the food & TIP before seeing or tasting the food. So he expects you to tip before you get the service upon which the tip is decided. I've told the different waiters of my displeasure. He apparently goes through staff & maybe chef's quickly which may account for the food quality & repeatability. I will not go again unless this restaurant changes hands. It's a shame to lose what was a great restaurant with so few decent restaurants in the area. McDonalds is looking better! One other thing, when I went to write this review, I noticed most if not all the pictures were when this guy's mother was running the place & it looked nice, the food was excellent, & served on plates with real silverware! read more

This used to be my fave restaurant for takeout but not anymore. I love asian food and have experienced some takeout at other towns too. During the pandemic, we ordered pad thai and the noodles came pale and tasteless, not the traditional orange color full with flavor. Last week we order a large chicken Pho, to my disappointment, we got a small portion and little cabbage, and the broth wasn't up to my expectations at all. Was in Potsdam meeting a friend and was taken here. It was byob which was nice since we brought some wine and could have a glass without paying a ridiculous amount for it. The location was nice because if you sat outside in the back you had a beautiful view of the river. Our waitress was very attentive and came back often to make sure we were doing alright. The food however is the reason this isn't getting 5 stars. It was good, not amazing. I had massaman curry with tofu and it just didn't have as much flavor as other places. The spring rolls were small and almost looked like they may have come frozen. The other entrees my friends ordered looked very good so next time I will have to try a different dish and see if maybe they have better flavor. read more

I've never had Thai food before but I'm glad my first experience was at Thai Cuisine in Potsdam, NY. The building was easy to get to and offered plenty of parking. The dining room inside was enough for a large lunch or dinner crowd. Our group started with vegetable spring rolls. I've never had a spring roll so this was new to me as well. I really enjoyed it! They were perfectly crispy yet tasty on the inside. I ordered chicken pad Thai and my husband ordered crispy chicken pad Thai. While I enjoyed my own pad Thai rice noodles, I preferred my husband's crispy version. I also preferred the flavoring/sauce that came on his order. A few others in our group ordered the Thai iced tea and Thai iced coffee - these are a MUST if you're looking for something sweet. The price was a little bit higher than we were expecting, but seemed to be pretty typical of a small college town. First off, let me say Thai Cuisine was my very favorite place to eat in the North Country up until last week. My go to dish was Mango Curry, but I had never eaten an entrée I didn't like there. Unfortunately, we won't be returning any time soon. My husband brought me here for dinner last week and we ordered our usual dishes - mango curry and 5 queens. The mango curry was just ok, no spice factor despite asking for "level 4", and there were no scallops AT ALL in the 5 queens dish. None. To top it off, they jacked the prices up across the menu. The second time, I had the drunken noodles. The noodles weren't the "drunken noodles" you'd find in other Thai restaurants, it was more like ramen, but still pretty good. The tom yum soup is hella bland, they add carrots to their pad see ew, which is definitely not authentic at all, so I always ask for carrots not to be added to the noodles.
