Yum! We drove through Pendleton on a road trip yesterday. There aren't too many dinner options, but the pictures for this place looked delicious! And it lived up to those expectations, for sure. We had the vegetarian egg rolls to start which were crisp and hot. Very good. I had an avocado green curry dish with chicken. I've only had this dish one other time in Eugene and have been craving it ever since. It was delicious! Spicy, creamy and full of flavor. My other half had a spicy noodle dish with chicken that was sure to please the palate. This place is very simple but was clean and filling. We are from LA. The food here is on par w places in LA. Who would have knew great Thai in small town. The decor is nice. We ordered Chicken satay: chicken breast moist, great peanut sauce Chicken pad see you: better than many of the ones I had in La. Love the extra garlic Mango sticky rice: nice ripe mango. This is the first restaurant I have ever been to that didn't give me ANY utensils or a napkin, and didn't ask us if we wanted something to drink. They just brought a pitcher of water and two glasses. The water was pretty awful, the pad Thai was overly sweet-n-salty, so I got pretty thirsty. My husband ordered the chicken noodle soup, which was tasteless, but it came with a spoon and chopsticks, so I didn't have to eat the pad Thai with my fingers- my husband finally got up from the table and helped himself to a napkin wrapped fork and snagged a napkin for me, as well. The only time the waitress came to check on us was when we had finished eating. I actually got mad at him for tipping her, but she was pretty and my husband is an ass, so she got a tip. The food was just ok, but the presentation was lovely, and my husband declared the fried shrimp to be excellent. I just don't understand all the rave reviews, I really don't. Perhaps it's the "Emperor's New Clothes" syndrome. I get that it's pretty "cosmopolitan" for a small town, but I have had better Thai (with much better service) in La Pine, OR some years back, and that's way smaller than Pendleton. If the service hadn't been almost nonexistent (it wasn't completely nonexistent- she did bring food to the table, so... ), I would have rated them a "meh", but as it stands, it's a "nope from me, dawg". 1 Star. read more

Passing through Pendleton at 8 on a Thursday night and looking to find something decent and somewhat healthy. Reviews sounded pretty good, and Thai is typically quick, so I gave it a try. Couldn't be happier that I did! Place was clean, service was friendly, and food was amazing! I tried the golden prawn appetizer, which was 6 huge prawns, and while deep fried, definitely not greasy. For my meal, I simply went mixed veggies with pork in garlic sauce. Perfectly cooked, lots of food, and a side of rice that was just right. Stopped for lunch while traveling. They have a regular and a lunch menu. We ordered off the lunch menu. The meal was 8.95. It comes with a small cup of soup ( I didn't care for it but my husband liked it). The lunch is a nice big plate of food with a crab Rangoon with a side of sweet and sour sauce. We ordered the pad Thai and L3 on the menu. Both were delicious. Our food came quickly, which is awesome while traveling. We were very happy and satisfied. read more

Came here for dinner since we stayed over night in this town. Craved some noodles after endless amounts of American burgers, pizza, etc. Phad Thai is very...saucey. It's not wet, but very sticky. As in the noodles stuck together. The noodles were also not al dente aka too soft. Their noodles were also pretty salty. Prices are $1-3 higher than what I am normally used to in Seattle. You'll probably think this place is good if a) live in this town and have tried no other Thai restaurant or b) you just have interesting taste. Overall, this meal was mediocre. Traveling through Pendleton on our way from boise to Spokane and looked up places to eat. We chose Thai Crystal because of the good ratings and our love of Thai food. We are so glad we did! My husband just said, "My taste buds are happy!" As we left. They have a nice selection of lunch specials and we got the pad see ew and Panang curry, both with chicken which was very tender. But the outstanding element of both dishes was the flavor. Really, really delicious. And I loved that we got a crab Rangoon with lunch along with a delicious veggie soup. The only reason for the 4 stars was the outdated decor and the outside appearance. We would not have chosen to go in upon driving up from the looks outside if we had not read the reviews.
