Always great! Love the sticky rice with mango for dessert! The pad Thai, pineapple fried rice, and money bags are my jam! Very nice staff. I really look forward to dinner or lunch from here. I suggest eating in or picking up. Door Dash, uber, grub hub bring the food after it's cold and not the same. read more

My good friend told me how good this place was. So finally I had lunch there today at 12:30pm. The waiter was very nice as was the greeter. I ordered the "Eggplant, Thai style". With fried tofu and steamed vegetables. This dish was priced at $14 dollars and I had high hopes, I love eggplant. The food came on a small rectangular plate with about two scoops of food. First of all it was dry, no sauce just small chunks of tofu, eggplant and green stringy vegetables. The presentation was pitiful. My first thought was that's a tiny amount of vegetables for $14 dollars. My first taste was that the food was stone cold. The stringy greens all over the dish was not trimmed and the stems were super tough and unable to be chewed. I ordered hot, not ". "Thai hot", just being cautious. I tasted no hot, no spices. WTF. I wasn't in the mood to make a fuss. I paid my bill and tipped my nice waiter well but this food was outrageously bad. This food was a pitiful excuse for a Thai dish. The owner of Thai Boran should be ashamed. read more

I generally stick to what I know but went with the red curry seafood dish for something different. So glad I did! Pretty sure there was seafood in every bite ... mussels (huge), shrimp, scallops, calamari, and the curry added just the right bite!! Curry comes mild, medium and hot ... Wife had the spicy mango chicken that was perfectly cooked! The chicken was fried but the chicken still moist with the grilled mango. Shared the crab Rangoon and will do it again! It was a late lunch, not crowded and service was top notch!! read more

Thai Boran is sooo good! I highly recommend the yellow curry. It is hands down the best curry in Albuquerque. I always order delivery so I can't speak to the service but the food is heavenly! read more

My boyfriend exclaimed "this is the best Thai food I have ever had" as we were eating here, so that says a lot! We stopped here for our first meal during our Albuquerque trip, and it set the bar high. The servers here were all really nice. There were a few things on the menu that looked so good! I ended up going for my fave meal which is red curry tofu. The curry was so creamy, it tasted really good. The tofu was just right too, not too mushy but not fried. Very yummy! My boyfriend got the curry noodle soup with noodles and was totally loving it. Our meal was affordable too. Only sad thing is we probably won't be back to Albuquerque to visit here again! read more

Excellent food! The menu is great, with lots of options. More importantly, the food is fantastic! I love the Chicken Basil, they do it the "right" way with ground chicken. And their brown rice is amazing. You have to try the moneybags appetizer. Fantastic!Service is really good too! read more

Plain and simply, fantastic Pad Thai! Had hot and couldn't stop eating while sweating! Thank you!

A great Thai place to try if you haven't already. I've been here several times and always find myself ordering the pineapple and fried rice. They used to serve in an actual half sliced pineapple before covid. I'm not sure if they still do that. read more

My boyfriend's mom told us that she had found a great Thai restaurant and I'm happy to report that I agree! The chicken pad see ew was amazing and among the best that I've ever had. How good was it? I managed to clean my entire plate, which was a combination of how delicious it was and the fact that we were flying home to San Diego the next morning so there was no time for leftovers. I'd definitely love to come back here the next time I'm in Albuquerque! read more

There's a Thai restaurant right around the corner from this place that's just fine. You know where I'm coming from, it's fine. It's comfortable and reliable and I never visit anymore. The eatery satisfies a narrative about the West Side of ABQ that's repeated over and over again: this area of the city isn't ready for great food. I absolutely beg to differ, beginning with myself. I just bought a house over here, and the day I saw Thai Boran's signage going up, I said a little prayer for everyone "on the other side of the river". This I proclaim: everyone, on every corner of the globe, deserves great Thai food. Not comfortable, reliable Thai, but adventurous, memorable plates of fire. I'm thrilled to state that, with a few exceptions, the West Side finally has a downright reputable winner in Thai Boran. You can make some mistakes with this menu. Our first visit was really ho-hum, actually, beginning with the inspired but somehow flat stuffed chicken wings, and two noodle dishes that played it safe -- exactly what I wasn't looking for. But the Thai iced tea with coconut milk was so insanely bright I just knew there was more behind the menu curtain, so we went back again, and again, and yet again, each visit as good or better than the last. Friday night they actually had a waitlist and they were understaffed, which makes me think the West Side desperately hungers for this stuff. My advice on standouts so far: Nam Sod (#11), a ground pork salad I adore anywhere, is a knockout in this joint. Get it extra spicy and weep while you smile. Tom Kah Kai soup is slurpy delish. The red curry represents, it's crowd-friendly candy but more substantive than you'll find other places. If you have a kid who actually tastes her food before deciding she doesn't like it (for shame, Iris), you can order a five dollar dish of noodles, fried chicken and sweet sauce that wins. They really need to up their beer game. In general, the menu runs a few bucks higher than your neighborhood Thai shop that you never visit anymore. That's 'cause with a few exceptions, it's worth every penny. read more

We love their eggplant curry and chili oil. I wish they would stop asking 'what protein' cz if we wanted any added we would specify. Last time I ordered to go, the lady repeated at the end- and without ANY protein. Like I was going to develop severe malnutrition any second now. Lol. read more

I'm from CA and did not expect to find quality Thai food when I moved here, but Thai Boran is now my absolute favorite Thai place out of all I have been to! The food is delicious. I have a low heat tolerance, but all of the non-spicy dishes are super flavorful. My partner enjoys painfully hot food, a desire which Thai Boran also fulfills. My favorite dishes are the fried rice, which is light and fluffy, the Satay chicken, and the Tom Kah Kai soup--they never go wrong! read more

I have been frequenting Thai Boran since they opened near my house. They had been stellar for both dine in and take out. The last time that we ordered carry out, the portions were incredibly small and the food was meh. I thought maybe they were just having an off night. So this evening we ordered red Thai curry and Pad Thai with veggies. The curry was below average and the Pad Thai was inedible. It was greasy and had no veggies other than a few scallions and carrot slices. Even if had wanted to eat it, there wasn't even a full serving. It really is too bad, it used to be such a solid and consistent favorite. read more

I have been here four times in the past six months, always wanting to review it and this is the first chance I've gotten to do so. The food here has been consistently excellent. I have ordered the green, red, massaman, and Panang curries. They are all delicious and distinctly different. The Pad Thai is smoky and moist, and comes wrapped in an egg pancake, which is unusual and I believe helps keep the moisture in. I don't remember any distinguishing characteristics about the drunken noodles, except that they were also delicious. My favorite dishes by far are the soups. Their Tom Yum and Tom Ka Guy soups are terrific, both loaded with shrimp and an amazing array of slurpy, flavorful mushrooms. But the coup de grace is their seafood soup. Sort of like a Tom Yum with all sorts of delicious seafood. Otherwise, the service is friendly and pleasant and the food comes fast. The ambience is somewhat wanting, not unlike many Asian food restaurants, nestled in a strip mall-ish type of shop, adjacent to the Brew Flix theaters. But this is not a dealbreaker for us, as we are predominately interested in the delicious food, although I wrestled with the idea of dropping a star for this element. Also, word seems to be getting out about this place, as it doesn't seat very many people and is starting to get a little more crowded, but still haven't yet had to wait for a table. Finally, the price seems reasonable for the food; in line with other Thai food restaurants in Albuquerque. read more

Unfortunately we did not have a good experience with the food we ordered. The Eggplant Thai Style meal we had was extremely salty as if the cap accidentally fell off while cooking. The Thai Sweet and Sour was ok, but overall for the price the portion size was very small. Even though the eggplant was inedible due to being too salty we weren't able to get a refund on that portion of our meal. Definitely would not recommend this place. read more

I travel through out the U.S. for business and without a doubt this is some of the best Thai food I have come across. Not only did we receive friendly and welcoming customer service but this place stays open till 10:30pm on Saturdays. I also ordered the Tom Kha Ki Soup and it was full of flavor and could have been eaten as a meal or be shared. In addition I had the Thai Iced Tea which was awesome, I loved the ice they put in the drink. My co-worker ordered a Seafood Curry and he was also very impressed with his meal and the detail of the order (pictured). Thai Boran - Seafood Curry - Thai Near Me - Albuquerque, New Mexico

We noticed Thai Boran open so we thought we'd give it a try. We have a favorite Thai restaurant here in Albuquerque and one in Chicago. We have yet to add another to those two. I was hoping Thai Boran would make the top but unfortunately not. The service was nice and attentive. There was a mix up on our order in not getting our appetizer until after the meal but I always forgive those things because mistakes happen. The service made up for it. The restaurant is simple and small. The atmosphere is casual and friendly. The food. I really really wanted to love it. I wanted to write a raving review about how I'd go back again and again. I always want that for new restaurants. Thai Boran fell short for me. It might be good for someone who has never had Thai food before though. The menu is simple to understand and there's descriptions of what's in each dish. We ordered Pad See Ew, combination fried rice and an appetizer of chicken satay. The Pad See Ew noodles were great, not slimy or mushy. They got the noodles spot on! The chicken was juicy and well flavored. They have choices of mild, medium, hot and Thai hot. We ordered medium as our server said the hot was really hot. We were disappointed in the spiciness of the dish. It was sauced nicely but not even close to being even mildly hot. The rice was a bit mushy and sticky. There were good sized shrimp in the rice along with bits of chicken and beef. The rice was rather bland and I hated to put salt and pepper on it but I had too. I would rather the food speak for itself but it didn't say a word. Our appetizer of chicken satay was presented well but we were disappointed. The chicken tasted frozen and was tough. I was really surprised that it wasn't great. The sauce was thick and tasted more like peanut butter than a traditional Thai peanut sauce. So all in all it was okay. I could have easily given 3 stars or less but I'm biased with the two favorite Thai places I love already. Like I said earlier, it might be great for someone who hasn't had Thai food before because it really misses the mark on great Thai flavor and spices. read more

Thai Boran is now my favorite Thai restaurant on the Westside. Excellent Panang Curry and Basil Noodles with pork. Very nicely spiced. Tony will make any dish hot enough to satisfy those of us with asbestos palates without overpowering the subtleness of the other spices. This is a new venture of the Sushi King empire. TLDR: still a new place figuring everything out, pineapple curry was unique and very good Thai Boran is an above average Thai restaurant conveniently attached to Flix BrewHouse. SO and I arrived at 8:30 on a Friday and had no wait to be seated. The first complement I want to give to this place is surprisingly... THE ICE, all of their drinks have the crushed ice which just makes everything better. For an appetizer we ordered the Satay chicken, which was overall fairly disappointing. I did not like the peanut sauce and the actual chicken was nearly identical to some Satay I've had at a not so great chain restaurant. For our entrees my SO ordered the chicken fried rice. Although it was pretty good I did not feel it was better than the fried rice I could get at some place like PF changs. My entree(recommended by our server) and by far the star of the show here was the pineapple curry. I'd never had anything like it before and really enjoyed the spicy/sweet/savory combination. The one issue I had with this item was the server described the medium spice level as equivalent to a mild green child, however in reality it was significantly spicier (it was good but I do not believe I would've enjoyed the Hot if I had gotten it). Overall, I would come back. Although our experience wasn't perfect the food was above average and it's a much better option than the food in Flix. The reason for 4 stars instead of 3 is that the pineapple curry was one of the most unique/best dishes I've had in ABQ. Additionally, I feel that they will be able to work out some of the kinks that new restaurants frequently have. read more

Best Thai in NM. Their Tom Yum soup reminded me Typoon restaurant in 3rd street, Santa Monica. This was most authentic I had in NM and go toe to toe with Sweetee Thai in Cerritos. I enjoy living in ABQ since it's just big enough to satisfy the definition of a city but not too big to lose the sense of a tightly knitted community. I was excited knowing this place was going to open soon since diversity is the best thing could happen to the human kind. We came here during the first day of business, the restaurant was cozy, welcoming and giving that familiarity of a welcoming Asian restaurant. The food was good and all and what you would expect from Thai restaurants in America. I took a step back and asked myself what about this place that makes it stands out from the rest? I pondered for weeks and multiple visits. Sadly to say but I wasn't able to come up with one. It has the similar dishes to that of street food Asia, well after all, same owner. Now don't get me wrong that the foods weren't good. Whilst they made my tastebuds happy but lack of the unique flavours - the entire country of Thailand has more than just the familiar profile that we know in this country... just a thought. read more

On the recommendation of a friend we met up at Thai Boran for a quick dinner and I just keep coming back! I've only had a few things - the cashew chicken, the Thai boat noodle soup, the spicy noodle but my favorite has been the ramen special with miso broth. It's one of the best ramen dishes I've have in ABQ and hopefully they'll decide to add it to the menu permanently. It's in a great location off of Coors so it's easy to get to from Rio Rancho, Westside ABQ and the North Valley. Ate there yesterday & it was great! Food is really good and so is the customer service. I ordered the Spicy Udon Noodles w/tofu (additional charge), medium heat. Just spicy enough for me. Noodles & veggies done to perfection. However, they forgot the tofu. When brought to their attention, they offered to remake the dish & I asked that they just adjust the price to reflect no tofu. They obliged & offered us a free desert as an apology for the mistake! My husband got the Ground Beef Noodles, extra hot. It's a simple dish but quite tasty (yes. I tasted his food.) He thought it was outstanding and he was satisfied with the heat. You cannot make a dish too hot for him. Most dishes are offered without a protein source, which can be added for an additional charge of abt $2. We took the restaurant up on the offer of a free desert and my husband & I split the Chocolate Lava Cake. We both wanted something warm & chocolate. The cake was hot & super moist. It was served with a scoop of Cookies & Cream ice cream. It was a lovely presentation with a chocolate sauce lightly drizzled over everything. The meal left both of us quite satisfied and splitting the dessert was perfection. I highly recommend this place. We will be going back the next time we are on the West Side as we live in Edgewood. For the two of us including a beer & an ice tea, total charge with tax was $36. Not bad. read more

I've eaten at Thai Boran once, so my review is based on a single visit. It's a solid choice for Thai food anywhere in the city, but especially for the west side w/ it's selection of garbage water chain restaurants. We ordered the Thai Money Bags which are well worth your attention as an appetizer. For entrees, I ordered the chicken noodle soup special and it was decent, a little bland, but well-prepared. My wife got the Thai Ginger and it was very good; the sauce had a good flavor and great consistency for dressing rice. We also ordered a plate of pineapple fried rice for the table and it was a great side dish. The rice was served in a halved pineapple and I give an A+ for presentation here. For desert, we went to the go-to mango sticky rice and it was a good B+, not too sweet, just the right stick; my only issue was a bit of a lackluster mango. I'd definitely go back to Thai Boran and explore the menu a bit more. It's location is also great if you're catching a movie at Flix. read more

The Curry was amazing and they actually made it Thai HOT! It was delicious!! Yes I will go back.

Came here on New Year's Eve for an early dinner and had a great experience. The curry noodle soup was perfect, and the beef salad was delicious. Both our first time out to eat (we sat inside) in a very long time (pre-covid), and our first time to this place. We had actually planned to go somewhere else, but the other place wasn't doing indoor dining, so we wound up here as it was nearby, and looked intriguing. We actually got there a bit ahead of the dinner rush (and good thing too, as they were really busy, very shortly after we got there). While the inside was pretty full (still reasonably, but not 6 foot, distanced, as there just wasn't room for it) it was the takeout and grubhub orders that was keeping them so busy. There was a literal constant stream of people coming to pickup orders (a few ordered there and waited, but most were just picking up, which leads me to believe they were calling in or ordering online, with some being obviously Grubhub). While this did disrupt the ambiance, it also speaks volumes about their food (this is a fairly small, out of the way place, not some big chain, so for them to be so busy says good things). Long term, I'd suggest they find a way to have a separate pick up area (other than the middle of the dinning room), but for now... well Covid, you know how it is. Nevertheless, our server was very quick, and patient with us (our first time here, plus I'm not very familiar with Thai options, so I'm afraid I was "that customer", with all the questions, my apologies to her if she reads this). She was very helpful and polite, and assisted us with order options. The wife got the Pad Thai (chicken), and other than saying that the noodles were a bit on the sweet side (and for all we know, they are supposed to be haha), she really enjoyed it. I got the Thai Boran Beef Steak (and after a recommendation from our server, some Thai chile on the side). While the steak (it's little strips of steak, for those wondering, I fear I'm out of practice and neglected to take a picture) was very good on it's own, I'm glad i accepted her recommendation of the Thai chilie. Now, I had told her of my affinity for green chile, and warned her of my unfamiliarity with Thai chile, and she wisely advised me to use smaller portions of the Thai chile (and boy am I glad she did). The Thai chile added a kick I enjoyed, but it is definitely a bit more intense than most green chile, so go easy on it. While eating we saw someone order the Orange Chicken (which isn't even on the menu, but was listed as a special), and it looked really good (good enough that, next time, I plan to try it. Or the spicy version of it). Overall, I do recommend giving this place a try. The prices were reasonable compared to the quality of the food, and while the servings were about average, you really don't leave hungry after the rice or noodles. The only thing I might have done differently (besides try the orange chicken instead haha), is asked if they could do a fried rice instead of the white rice (they seem to have a friend rice dish). However, that's because I'm not really a fan of white rice (and less so of the brown rice option they had), not because there was anything wrong with the white rice. Do give them a try! read more

I will start by saying that I'm from Nebraska. Having been in ABQ for 6 years now, my palate has likely changed. However, I expect Thai food to punch me in the tongue with flavor and hopefully spice. We get Thai food almost every week and have ordered from Thai Boran before... but this time was different. It tasted like my grandmother in Iowa had followed a recipe, making it less intense, as not to overwhelm the locals. I hope that there was just a substitute chef in tonight, but (yawn), should've driven the extra 8 minutes and gone to Thai Cuisine 2. Thai Boran totally lacked in the flavor-punch for ALL 3 of our entrees! Pad Thai, combination fried rice and our son's fries rice & shrimp entree (*intentionally lacking spice). Might try again if in a time crunch, but hopefully not. read more

Terrible place. Placed an online order at 1:30 for 3:00 pickup. Received an email saying "your order will be ready by 2:25." Arrived at 3:00 and they hadn't even started to make the order. This is a review for a pick up order on 3/12/19. I've been here many times, and every time, I have not been disappointed. Whether it's to eat in, or in this case, to grab a to go order, on a windy, rainy day. I arrived and was greeted and asked if I was eating in or taking out. I told them I was making a to go order and they pointed at a menu on a table for me to look over, but I knew what I wanted. I ordered Pad Thai with chicken, medium spicy level, with a side of the chili paste (which can make my medium level hit nuclear with too much). I paid and took a seat and waited. Not too long, under 15 mins, my order was ready, and I was on my home. Once I got home, I was more than ready to dig into my Pad Thai, which was delicious. I'm not sure if Thai Boran is the only one that puts a large scrambled egg blanket on top of the pad thai noodles, but it was well cooked and good. The noodles were firm, and tender, perfectly cooked, and the sliced chicken was tender, albeit a little dry. The lime wedge and bean sprouts completed the dish. Adding the little side of chili paste took my spice level to hot, maybe even stupid hot, but still great. I hope Thai Boran continues to make food like this, so the westside has a place to enjoy some Thai food. Excellent dish overall. read more

We use to go here for really good Thai but haven't been in probably a year or more. Took my son who loves Thai and was craving noodles before a movie mom and son date and he ordered the gravy noodle dish, it was terrible, luke warm and gooey we told the waiter he didn't like it and the waiter suggested we try something different the next time instead of letting my son order something else. He ended up eating my appetizers instead. We packed up everything and left, offering the uneaten dish to a family member and they agreed they couldn't stomach it either. Terrible customer service and disappointed because we like this place. read more
