This was perhaps one the most heartwarming reviews to come from our occasionally awkward dinner posted to date, but if I'm going to be honest, this little sweet and spicy grandmother one woman show deserves all five stars! At first the door was locked because she's in the building by herself, but after sizing us up, we were invited in to a small group of tables in front of a bookshelf area separating the kitchen from front of house. The food preparation is excellent. I mean, every dish we've tried has been perfect and delicious. My wife and I both noted how exactly the egg in the Pad Thai was cooked. That's just one detail. Lately, I had been missing authentic Asian food but had a hard time deciding where to go..partly because I know it's hard to find super authentic Asian...and even more specific, Thai flavors in this city (no offense...but we don't have great selection of authentic Asian food here...other than perhaps..Vietnamese food). My gym closed early today..so what did I do after that?...I went out of my own whim to stop by Thai House to check it out. Honestly, I wasn't expecting much..because I found most Thai places to serve American-styled Thai food..and not super authentic one. Well, at Thai House, I ordered Pad Kee Mao (drunken rice noodles)...because I wanted to avoid anything that was super Americanized...and I wasn't disappointed! The flavor was good..pan fried noodles that weren't too salty. If anything, I love the hot Thai dry chili kick after each bite! So much that I had to stop myself from finishing the dish because I honestly was planning to finish most the next day. Well, you know what else I was impressed? Mango Sticky Rice! It may sound weird..but it is a Thai dessert dish that I hadn't had for..probably 5-10 years now (since I had been away from Bangkok for so long!). Well, usually I would try to avoid the dish because the coconut milk sticky rice wouldn't taste right..or the mango would just be too sour to go for the sticky rice. But..thai House got it perfectly! The sweet mangoes went along really well with the cocomut milk based sticky rice! I ended eating 3/4 dish of it in one go...of the dish that I originally intended to save for the next day's meal! Plus, the price of ~$7 was super reasonable for the portion size as well! Overall, awesome place for food. The restaurant ambiance/service aren't the top (but you can't expect much when it's a totally run by just one Thai lady). But..the food tasted great and worth the wait! Thai House is dine-in and to-go restaurant with standard Thai fare. It's located on Carlisle and Indian School Rd. in an unassuming strip mall between Dulce and iRepairNM. There's a free shared parking lot in front. There's not an ambience to speak of because the cooking, storage, and seating areas are in one big room and it feels haphazardly thrown together. I've tried Thai House twice, both times with fried rices. Today I had the pineapple fried rice, mild, with tofu. It was unimaginative and flavorless, just like last time. I had been hoping they were having an off night the first time I visited, but I guess this is the standard. My husband said his dish was the same, but we finished them because we were hungry. I wouldn't recommend Thai House, or go back. It's flavorless food in a storage hanger; there's no draw. For those visiting, as of late July 2024 the chicken satay has been discontinued and Thai House is no longer offering any entrees that contain peanut butter. read more

Under new ownership since around late November 2025. The former owner of Salathai took over. We've been big fans of their old locations. Excellent Thai food. Can't go wrong with red or green curry, drunken noodles, tofu and broccoli or Tom Yum soup. These are our go to dishes. Please order take out from her and help her keep her business running as her food is amazing. She only has a couple tables available so I recommend take out. Small, 1 person run restaurant at the corner of Carlisle and Indian School. We were greeted by a sweet older lady who said the restaurant has been at this location since 2019. This was my 1st time here, I've passed it a couple times and have wanted to try the food. I got the Thai tea, red curry, and sticky rice with mangos. You adding by decided to stop, the place caught my eye. You can smell the curry. The music playing is Thai chant music, interesting. Nothing is stationary, walls are fake. Very open. Since it a very small place and family run service is not that great. Cook can not multi task which is a problem but the food makes up for it. OMG the food you get here is authentic and so damn good. I decided to order from this restaurant to support a local business. I usually order from one of my favorite Thai places in Hoffmantown Plaza but they were not open. I decided to give this restaurant a try since the reviews were mostly positive. I really regret it and wish I had waited until the next day to order from my favorite place. Firstly, I ordered the Massaman Curry, beef and with medium spice. I have honestly never eaten such a flavorless curry. On top of that, it was not spicy at all. I also ordered spring rolls and they were legit burned. I have attached a picture to show you how badly they burned these rolls. Happened to drive by this spot a few times, and was in the mood for Thai so we gave it a try. Looks like an antique store more than a restaurant when you come in. You can see the kitche from the dining area which to me is kind of a plus. You can watch your food being prepared. Was a one woman shop when we came. Not sure if that's standard but I guess it works. The hostess, waitress, and cook were the same person. Food was decent. I had the red curry and my wife had the Pad Thai. I thought my meal was "ok" but my wife said the pad Thai was actually better than a couple other places we liked. The spring rolls were actually the hit. Very fresh and well prepared. This new location is so awesome! I used to go to the old one near UNM on a regular basis when I was in school because it was delicious as well as budget friendly. It taste and feels authentic. There's always the same sweet lady in the back that cooks the food and she never disappoints! At this new locations, you can literally watch your food be prepared and cooked, which I love! The food came out at a reasonable time. The egg rolls were even hand rolled!! The flavor is so savory and it was super fresh. None of the flavors overwhelmed each other. I visited Thai House at the new location for lunch and I was impressed! The new location is spacious and well lit. I also like the decor of the new place, especially the wood panel on the wall. We had time, so stopped for lunch. Thai House is new to the Summit Park neighborhood, and people were talking it up on the Next Door app. Each meal was prepared fresh as ordered. The Chef said last Monday she only had 4 people at lunch. There was a constant stream when we were there, so the chef was doing it all. We loved the Pad Thai and Fried Rice, and had a lovely meal. This is the strangest Thai restaurant I've been to as far as setup, decor and personnel. Firstly, it's a single older Thai woman running the whole place. No hostess, waiters, busboys, nothing. Just her. She cooks, brings menus, drinks, clears tables etc. I don't get that, especially since when I was there, 6 of the 7 total tables had people seated. Secondly, the kitchen is literally in the same room as the dining tables. It's kind of like eating in someone's house, and watching them cook for you. The decor is sparsely decorated with Thai statues, and other knickknacks. The menu has some usual Thai fare like curries, pad thai, a few other noodle dishes and some other entrees. A couple of soups, but not the usual Lemongrass or coconut soups. They offered wonton soup and a rice noodle soup. Service is painful considering it's a one person operation. Getting a water refill was nonexistent, and people with two people at the table had their meals delivered one at a time, a few minutes apart. Working people who don't have a lot of time for lunch should skip this place if you are in any kind of a hurry. Clientele seemed to be old ladies who weren't in a rush obviously. I wasn't in a huge hurry, but I don't want to sit around 45 minutes waiting for an order of pad Thai. I didn't even order an appetizer. So the food arrived 40 minutes after I arrived, and it was tasty, though a bit small on the portion size. One lady left without any food because she couldn't wait any longer. Overall, food tasted good, but the service just kills the whole dining experience. There are too many Thai places to torture yourself waiting while listening to this weird Thai chanting that you hear in the background. read more

The prices have gone up a little, but they are still on par with comparable Thai restaurants in abq, if not slightly cheaper for great quality food. The new place has an open concept where the kitchen is in open view from the dining room. The open concept is unique, but it works here. Some may question my decision to have Thai food in Albuquerque, but I was craving Pad See-Eaw, and Thai House had been recommended to me, so I went with it... and I wasn't disappointed! I ordered my food to go, and when I went to pick it up, I noted that the restaurant appeared to be a little shanty from the outside... and the inside too! I was the only patron, but it was late when I arrived. It's worth noting that they sell some quirky gifts inside as well as serving food. In addition to Pad See-Eaw (#32 on the menu) with extra broccoli, I ordered the Vietnamese Rolls (#4 on the menu) as an appetizer. This was way too much food for one person, but I made a good effort and did pretty well with it. It wasn't the best Thai Food I've ever had, but I found both dishes fresh. I admit -- the Pad See-Eaw was a tad bit on the greasy side, but I still enjoyed it, and the peanut sauce that came with the appetizer wasn't as flavorful as I've had elsewhere. Prices were moderate and service was friendly enough. While I may try some other Thai places in ABQ before heading back to Thai House, I'd give it another shot for sure. read more

I was struggling to figure out how to enter the place, that's when I find out, it's a one person business. The owner is a petite older Thai lady. She opened the door and let me in. She was very nice and kind. As soon as I saw it was a one person show, I decided to just chill out. She gave me the menu and offered to answer any questions I might have. I can tell that she is busy so I told her I got it and ordered pad Thai. It took her about 15 minutes to bring out the dish, I was please with the size that I got. She offered chili and I said yes. The food was good and give me the homemade taste. She and I got to chat for a little bit after her pickup orders got completed. The restaurant vibe is "authentic" and I'd say borderline divey, as it's in a little strip mall and the kitchen is basically part of the dining area. There was lots of interesting Thai decor and artwork to check out while waiting for your food, which was about 30 minutes for us. But man, it was worth it! Call ahead if you're in a rush. I ended up with a piping hot plate of peanuty pad thai perfection. I've recently become a pad thai connoisseur and enjoy comparing the dish at different places around town. This was one of the best! Wonderful Thai food in in a cool, open-kitchen space. The owner was tremendous - so courteous and kind. She's currently a one-woman operation so I can imagine it can get a little busy, but on a weeknight an hour before closing we were the only diners. Pad woon sen is my go-to Thai dish when it's on the menu (which isn't always, unfortunately) and she really nailed it; delicious noodles, perfectly cooked meat and vegetables, and a hefty serving that should have afforded me leftovers for the next day but that would have required more discipline than I had. The restaurant is a little hard to spot given the lack of signage, but it's on Carlisle, across the street from Circle K, just south of Whole Foods. The food was good, the owner needs to retire. First of all when you come to the door, it's locked. Ok, yeah maybe the neighborhood isn't that great, so that is a minor inconvenience. However, the owner is a tad crochetedy and has the sense of humor of a rabid pit bull. I made a wry joke, which she misinterpreted and was visibly ticked off. Excellent curry with lots of crispy fresh vegetables. The kitchen is open to the restaurant and very clean. The chef used green chile instead of bell pepper, what a great idea! I went to lunch on a very slow day and almost had the restaurant to myself. This place deserves to be discovered! Thai House is open from 11 am to 8 pm everyday but Sunday. I'm so glad I found the new location of one of my favorite places in ABQ to eat Thai food. I've been a customer for over 30 years. They had to move last year to this new location. I've traveled through 50 states and have tried many restaurants and this is still my favorite! I had the Pad Thai which was delicious.
