Thai Bloom is one of our favorite Thai places in the states! The Miang Kum is perfectly detailed-party of flavors in your mouth! Also, the curries have depth and are made to order in terms of spice levels. The dishes are beautifully served and service is good, too. And, if you're just feeling "safe," there is no judgment for ordering the Swimming Rama, simple chicken/shrimp/tofu in peanut sauce. Love going here for Happy Hour, its some of the most fresh delicious thai food around. Rice is fabulous, drunken noodles are heavenly, potstickers wonderful, spring rolls okay, curry tasty, chicken satay fantastic, spicy thai basil heavenly and thai iced teas as sippilicious! I like that you don't have to be 21 here in case you want to bring your family!! Great variety of food and fabulous portions. Everyone who works here is so pleasant and friendly! We went on a packed Friday night and not a single staff member seemed to be worried about a thing. They were all happy and welcoming. okay...... after a day of power shopping with a friend we were tired, hungry and in much need of caffeine. We got seated and ordered. First we got our Thai Iced Tea.... oh that glorious mixture of caffeine, cream and crack. Next we ordered the crab puffs..... wonderful golden crispy wonton filled with cream cheese and crab served with a dipping sauce of the gods. My friend and I ordered the Cashew chicken and the Pad Thai noodles. We shared........ barely...... we may have joked about fighting to the death for the Cashew chicken.... She was not a fan of the Pad Thai....but I was..... the meal hit the spot and we even ended it with another round of the iced tea..... I ordered pineapple fried rice from Thai Bloom to be delivered. It came a little earlier than they said (45 minutes rather than an hour), but it would have been well worth the wait of the hour. The gentleman at the restaurant was a real pro at taking the order, and the delivery person was extremely polite and solicitous. Even though in plastic clam-shell serving container, the presentation was very attractive, and the food was perfectly warm. Wish you could have been here when I opened the clam-shell server to smell the lovely scent of Thai basil wafting out, and the taste, wow the taste. Wonderful combination of a little heat, a little sweet from the pineapple, and some crunch and depth from onions. The rice was gorgeous, perfectly done, as was the added egg scrambled in. I'll have to go to the restaurant some time, but for now the delivery end of the business does a fine job with some very delicious food. You're sure to be turned into a fan if you eat there at the restaurant or order food to be delivered. read more

After being mostly disappointed by Portland's Thai offerings so far, my best friend did a quick yelp search while we were out in Beaverton and we decided to check this place out on a whim. We arrived at the start of happy hour, and elected to sit in the bar to get the special menu. Our waiter was really nice, and the atmosphere was relaxed in the bar. All of the food we tried far exceeded our expectations. My barometer for Thai restaurants is always the pad thai -- this one brought me back to the first time I tried the dish - just the right amount of bean sprouts (both cooked in and fresh on top), there were no fillers (shaved carrots), and the sauce wasn't overly sweet. It was just damn good pad thai. We also tried the spring rolls, which were light and flaky, perfect with the dipping sauce. The shining star in my opinion was the tom kha soup. The milky citrusy base was filled with mushrooms, cauliflower, broccoli and other veggies. It was the first time I've seen it done that way and it WORKED. This place is our new go-to Thai place. I finally stopped in to Thai Bloom! tonight and boy, am I glad I did. I've been searching for a good Thai restaurant that understands gluten-free dining since Typhoon! closed and they do. I got salad rolls and pineapple curry (to-go) and both were delicious. The pineapple curry was perfectly spicy and full of tender chicken, pineapple and rambutan (the hostess told me it was similar to a lychee and she was right). Also, the decor and cleanliness of the restaurant has greatly improved since it was Thai Derm. This is my new go-to Thai restaurant. read more

Dawg this place is fire on me..i ordered the chicken Katsu well done and bruh i smacked all of it best chicken katsu in Oregon that I've had thus far. The sauce they use is a sweet and spicy blend which comes on top of the chicken and rice. We also orders the cashew chicken and that shit was heat...cashew nuts, vegetables and rice man. Vegans beware! And anyone else with food restrictions for that matter. The staff don't know the ingredients of the food they serve! I used to be a regular until one visit, I ordered my usual salad rolls and pad thai, vegan. I received the salad rolls with no peanut sauce so I asked why I didn't get it. The waiter told me the peanut sauce is not vegan and contains fish sauce. I addressed this with the restaurant and let them know that they had been serving me something I specifically asked them not to. They didn't care and ignored my concern. My group and I arrived there pretty close to closing time but they graciously stayed open for us. I started out with a pot of the Japanese cherry blossom tea, which was light and refreshing, a perfect spring time tea. Next time I go in I'll have to ask where they get the tea from. For dinner my husband and I split an order of the ginger orange chicken. The serving was large enough for the two of us and came with rice and steamed broccoli. The chicken itself was crispy coated but moist on the inside. The sauce was tangy with just a bit of a kick, definitely puts Panda Express to shame. Overall the food was delicious and the price, around $13 for the chicken and just a few bucks for the pot of tea, was fair for what we got. The waitress that helped us was wonderful, she even double checked that the food we ordered did not contain an ingredient I'm deathly allergic to. Good food. One of the worst dining experiences in recent history. Took people from out of town to the Beaverton location. Server was so rude it was breathtaking. Really upsetting to the people I was with. We waited 20 minutes for water, 30+ minutes for appetizers. We didn't complain, we could see they were busy, but the server was just so incredibly rude to us from the moment we sat down. She came out to say our food was coming up but we didn't get our apps yet - when we asked politely about our apps when she said our food was nearly ready (we hadn't flagged her down or anything - she voluntarily came over), she had a nasty little response. No "let me check" or anything appropriate whatsoever about her response. Our apps come out, they were cold, clearly had been sitting in the window while she talked to her co-workers. By that time they were less busy than 30+ minutes before, so she could have easily brought them out sooner. I worked in food service for 5 years - hot food in window is always the priority - this is food service 101. For both service and health reasons - run hot food out! 3 minutes after we get our cold appetizers, a food runner brings our dinner. I ask to speak to the manager and no one ever came. Server continued to be curt until it was time to bring the check. Staff seemed focused on rolling silverware or other non-essential things, instead of bringing water / drinks to tables or checking on all of the tables around us. The place was very busy. The food was good - even the cold appetizers - but I will never come back due to the service. It was my first time here and I must eat gluten free, so I would have been a regular customer since the menu is very friendly to people who must adhere to a gf diet. Not a lot of options for dining out in Beaverton for Celiacs. I rely on Yelp to find places to eat and after reading all of these glowing, 5 star reviews, I am really disappointed and doubtful that they are authentic. To the establishment if they read this, this is an opportunity to make improvements in training your staff on how to provide good customer service as well as health and safety issues. The matter was resolved promptly by the manager after I called in, and my charge was back to what I authorized originally......Thank you. Customer service is HUGE in the business industry, and I do appreciate the efforts you showed, also responding to the other posts on other comments, that shows you care for your customers. The waitstaff was very nice and attentive. The restroom was fairly clean and the restaurant has a few floor to ceiling windows which bring in some good natural light. Now that the positives are out of the way, here is the negative - the food. It is just downright awful. It's been a long time since I had Thai food or any food for that matter that tasted this bad. I ordered Tom Kah soup and Drunk noodles; both are essentially sodium bombs. I had about three bites of the drunk noodles, it is not edible in my humble opinion. My dinner companion ordered cashew chicken and the dish looked like a pile of chicken drowned in a disgusting salty brown sauce. This is really just awful Americanized ethnic food being offered as Thai food. It's not Thai food, it's not even good Americanized Thai food. read more

There has been a lot of good word-of-mouths among Thai community in Portland about this place. Finally I had a chance to try the foods at Thai Bloom last Sunday. We chose to sit in the dining area as we wanted to focus on the food. The servers were very friendly and attentive. The restaurant was spacious, clean and well-decorated. For appetizers, we ordered "Hoi-Joh" (Thai-style fried crab cake) and "Crying Tiger" (Medium rare roasted beef with special Thai dried chili dipping sauce called "Jaew"). I have never seen any Thai restaurant in the U.S. having Hoi-Joh in the menu and I was impressed. Even though the taste was not as good as the original Hoi-Joh from the Eastern Thailand, it was close enough. The "Jaew" dipping sauce for "Crying Tiger" was perfect. For the main dishes, I ordered the signature boat noodle. (A short Thai food history lesson for this dish: the reason it has the name boat noodle is because it used to be sold by the vendor on the boat along the canal in Thailand some hundred years ago.) Normally, the boat noodle in Thailand is the noodle in beef stock soup with slow-cooked mixture of beef brisket and beef or pork meatballs served in a small bowl - you can easily eat 5-10 bowls and stacking them up. Here in Thai Bloom, however, the portion is so gigantic that we should call it "Titanic" boat noodle. In my opinion, the taste has been americanized but it is still savory by adding some Thai chili and vinegar. My friend ordered "Yen-ta-fo" (pink noodle soup). The pink (or red) color of the soup comes from the fermented tofu inspired by the combination of Thai/Chinese dish. The taste was also good. I highly recommended this two noodle dishes. For the dessert, I used Yelp mobile app checking in the business and received the free home-made coconut ice-cream. (Thank you, Yelp! for this surprising deal.) The ice-cream is a perfect finish for our meal. All in all, it was a satisfying dinner. The foods came a little bit slow (may be because the restaurant was busy) but the huge portion and the taste of the foods made up for the waiting time. The price is a little higher than typical Thai restaurant but it is still reasonable. I will definitely go back again for different dishes. read more
