It's been a while since leaving Thai Basil a review. Previously, I would stop here regularly. I enjoyed the ambiance and the food. The service had always been good and it was again on my recent visit. The food also arrives quickly. There is some highlights and a bit of lowlights. The winners here are the crab Rangoon's and the spring rolls. They are both very crispy and the flavor is spot on! They also are generous with the crab filling! Outstanding! The pad Thai for me was just not that good. I have had it before and I liked it. It was too sweet, it had an odd darker color and the chicken was not tender at all. The eggs were also almost nonexistent. The vegetarian stir fry was tasty, but it almost had a gumbo consistency and it didn't not have enough veggies. Things seem to have declined. The decor, once sort of special, looks dated and a bit drab. This experience was just ok. I hope they brighten the place up and improve the food back to their old standards. It's a great location with lots of parking! They just need to share their original passion so it translates to the food and the overall experience!

Spent over $60 for food that wasn't edible. Ordered mild, we like some spice but it was wayyyyyyy too spicy. Pad cashew had 1 small piece of chicken and a bunch of sauce with no bamboo shoots or baby corn. Ordered chicken pad Thai, hardly any chicken. Ordered the peanuts on the side and they didn't provide them. Will never order here again. Tom yum soup was too spicy to eat. Update: took the uneaten food back the next day and spoke with the manager Saj, he said they would remake it for us at that time but we were on our way to a party. He said we could have it remade at a later date. I called tonight to reorder and he would only offer a discount, not a remake. He said he did not write it down and had no record of it. I have a picture of the receipt yet he still would not rectify the order. I am disappointed to say I will no longer patronize this restaurant.

I was in the area and decided to take a chance on this location. It's not terrible and it's not great. It depends what you like. The crab Rangoon has way too much cream cheese and do you need to be careful eating it as it can get messy due to the excessive cream cheese. The spice level insane! Light spice = medium and medium spice = very hot. I can't imagine how killer it would be to ask for "regular" spice ! The sushi was ok. The setting looks dated. The service is good and fast. I would not be going back.

Thai Basil did not disappoint. Medium spicy is SPICY!! Beware. Service was excellent. The restaurant was busy so you know the food is good. We ordered various dishes. They do close at 8:30 on Tuesday not sure about their hours on others day so check before heading in. Service was friendly and fast. Eel and cucumber rolls were very good. Place is clean and spacious. Attached pictures and what dishes we ordered. ENJOY

    Pad Thai with Chicken.

The food from this place is sooo good. We ordered Pad Thai with Chicken and Pad See Ew with Chicken, and both were extremely flavorful. Prices as of Sept 2022: - Chicken, pork, tofu or veggies: $12.50 - Beef: $13.50 - Shrimp, squid or crabmeat: $14.50 - Scallop: $15.50 - Mixed seafood: $17.95 Their Pad Thai came with thin rice noodles wok-tossed with eggs, green onions, bean sprouts, and topped with crushed peanuts. The color of the noodles was a little paler than what I'm used to, but the flavor turned out to be all there and more. It was savory, slightly tangy and sweet, and it was pretty loaded with chicken thigh meat. And with each dish we got to choose our desired spiciness level, and I asked for "spicy" because I looove real spicy food, no jokes. But man oh man, the "spicy" level at this place was no joke. But it was so good though. The Pad See Ew came with wide rice noodles wok-tossed with eggs and broccoli sweet soy sauce. I asked for "medium spicy" for this one. This dish nailed it in terms of the delicate balance between sweet and savory. I would 100% order this again.

Fast, hot, delicious, perfection! Consistent and reliably good food! Thai Basil in Livonia is so fast, we order delivery frequently and their food always arrives much sooner than it tells you to expect. And it is always so hot and fresh, perfectly made and delicious. They have the best pad Thai in town! I have an allergy with onions and usually when I ask for no onions they make sure there are no onions, and they'll add something else like sprouts to round out the dish, really thoughtful. Have been ordering for a number of years from them and never ever a bad experience, food quality is really consistent. Oh, and their portion sizes are huge! We usually make at least 3 meals out of one order.

    Basil rice with chicken

My dad ate his right away so when he said there was barely any chicken in the rice I thought he was exaggerating. I heated my rice up for breakfast at work and either my dad wasn't exaggerating or the chicken got up and walked out in the middle of the night like a bad one night stand. I usually get spicy Siam crossed the street and they are much better but they were closed Sunday. I paid $4.50 to add chicken as per the menu set up. I feel slighted. I had to dig to find a shaving of chicken in the rice to take a photo.

Do you know if the alcohol menu is just for the bar area or if it's given to every table automatically without asking for it? Thanks.

Alcohol menu is given to every table for dinner without asking for it. I'm guessing the bar area is closed in afternoon and you will have to specifically ask for it during lunch.

Thai-Osha -- Where Laughter, Love, and Crab Rangoons Fill Your Soul…read more There are some places that feed more than just your appetite -- they feed your spirit. And Thai-Osha is one of those rare gems. From the moment I stepped inside, I knew I wasn't just walking into another Thai restaurant. I was walking into someone's heart and soul. Someone's home. The space is cozy, welcoming, decorated in beautiful Thai decor, and intimate -- like a little sanctuary where you immediately feel at ease and ready for home cooking. But the real magic? That comes from the owner. Let me tell you about him. He greeted me like an old friend -- with the kind of warmth and joy that you can't fake. So Funny, charming, down-to-earth, and so full of light... he has this way of making you feel like you've known him forever. It's like you're not just a customer -- you're family. The kind of energy he brings is rare. You can feel it in the way he laughs, the way he connects, the way he sees people. His spirit is so vibrant and kind, it honestly feels contagious. I left with a full stomach and full heart and a smile I couldn't wipe off my face. That's the kind of business you want to support -- one that feels built on love. The service? Fast. Friendly. The whole staff radiates the same positive energy as the owner -- everyone just seems genuinely happy to be there, and that joy spills over to the customers. You don't feel like you're just being served -- you feel like you're being welcomed. And don't even get me started on the food. Every dish was an experience. The flavors? Out of this world. Fresh, authentic, deeply comforting -- the kind of food that takes you places and lingers in your memory. The crab rangoons? I'm still dreaming about them. I could have ate them all day. Home Made, Creamy, perfectly made -- I nearly cried. Everything we ordered was beyond amazing, and I have no doubt that anything you choose from that menu will blow you away. But honestly? Even if you didn't come for the food (though you absolutely should), come to meet and talk to him. Come meet the kind, hilarious, big-hearted owner who reminds you that people like him still exist in the world -- people who lead with love, who make strangers feel like friends, and who carry a light that lifts others just by being near them. In a world that feels fast, disconnected, and overstimulated -- Thai-Osha is a breath of fresh air. It's cozy. It's sincere. It's the kind of place you want to keep coming back to. You're truly missing out on something special -- the kind of special that fills both your stomach and your soul. Let's keep celebrating places like this -- the ones that remind us what kindness tastes like.

The chef came out, seated me and asked for my order. Initially I wanted the Kai Yang (BBQ Chicken) for $14 at lunchtime, but the chef DISCOURAGED me saying that it takes a long time to slow cook this dish. Fine. I went with my 2nd choice, F2 - Kow Pad Kra Praow with chicken ($13 @ lunch). This is a FRIED RICE dish. The dining area ambiance is rather spartan, and the (C)RAP MUSIC being played did not contribute to the Thai dining experience at all. My order came back QUICK and HOT. My initial reaction was that it just looked like a BIG PLATE of fried rice. Oh well, I tucked in, and the flavor was OK. A FEW pieces of white meat chicken, peppers and carrot slices were the only identifiable items in this BIG PLATE of fried rice. It was EDIBLE and FILLING, but that was all. NOTHING SPECIAL and certainly not the WOW factor I had expected from the glowing reviews. Total was $13.73 after tax.

So I felt, what do I have to loose!? We both ordered a bowl of "Hearty Noodle Soup" with beef, chicken and shrimp. I asked them to serve it mild, and the chef complied with my request. This soup uses beef stock, and is ideal to keep your insides warm in the winter months, when it's very cold and snowy outside. Likewise, the egg wheat noodles were made earlier by the chef that I have found to be very delicious. We also ordered crispy rolls, which were very good, and I ended up taking my leftover rolls home with me. Bangkok 2, is a small restaurant that does a lot of carry-out business, so seating maybe an issue for large groups, and it would be advisable to call first to see if they can accommodate your gathering. However, if you're looking for a cozy spot to have dinner for two, then this restaurant might be what you're looking for. One of my friends of Chiang Mai, in the Northern Highlands of Thailand, says the food they serve here tastes closer to what she grew up with at home, and has a different flavor profile than what you will find in Bangkok. With that being said, if you're looking for an inexpensive Thai Restaurant, which has fast service, then Bangkok 2 offers wide menu to choose from.
