the food was great (except for crab ragoon, I prefer a thin crispy shell, their's is thick and crunchy) Sze-chaun and General's chicken, both were VERY well seasoned, prepared, and HUGE portion. the spring rolls were crunchy and GREAT, still VERY hot by the time I got home (I was early for pickup) The lobby is very off-putting, though. it's only take-out, but NO chairs to wait, NOTHING ? I ordered 3 soups the other day for lunch. A wonton soup, an egg drop soup, and a hot & sour soup. I'm giving 5 stars because all of the soups were delicious! I ordered online through grubhub ($0.99 service charge) and the food was ready quickly. The service was phenomenal. This is not a sit down place but it's a great spot to order ahead of time and stop by to take carry out. The Hot & Sour soup was my favorite because the soup had a thicker consistency. The wontons inside the wonton soup were also very flavorful! I'll definitely be coming back here to try other items :) read more

Went after recommended from a friend. We read the reviews and went in hopes for a new location. Overall it was pretty good. And to answer some of the concerns about no sauce or other items. We ordered online and picked up. The only thing that we requested was no mushrooms in the Chicken Lo Mein and when we picked up our order they even verified that no mushrooms were in the Lo Mein. All of the food was delicious. We ordered all combinations and they all came with fried rice and an egg roll. The portions...WOW! The egg rolls/spring rolls were really good and not dripping with oil. I liked the fried rice because I prefer white rice over fried. The other fried rice experts want more sauce and peas/carrots added. Overall, the food was very good, portions were huge, service was friendly and well communicated. I would give them 5 stars but, since more than one wasn't thrilled with the rice we give them a strong 4.5! We will be back! read more

My husband and I had egg rolls with sweet and sour sauce and Szechuan Chicken. The chicken was so tender you could cut it with a fork. There was a nice colorful variety of vegetables done to perfection. The food was hot when we picked it up and the quantity of food was plentiful. The price was super fair. Depending on who's cooking it can be outstanding or a big disappointment! There used to be a super nice and friendly lady at the front desk but whoever took over has no personality, is mean and always in a major hurry. I wouldn't care too much if the food was good but the last two times it's been sub par with cold egg rolls and the sweet n sour chicken was so dried out and hard it wasn't edible. Horrible. The lady taking orders was so beyond rude. I called to ask about my 30min order at 45mins and she yelled at me saying she can cancel my order if I dont wanna wait. I said I didn't tell you that, I just asked how much longer does it need. I was so shocked and caught off guard at her behavior. When I got there other customers were complaining about the wait as well and even one customer placed a order over the phone and when he got there his order wasn't even taken so he has to reorder. Now the food! I would say 2/10. it had no taste,no seasoning nothing. It also smelled weird and old. My family of 5 all agreed and didn't enjoy the food. I spent almost $100 and most of the food got thrown out bc it was that bad. We tried this place several years ago and found the food so so. We ordered today because we were tired and it is close to our house. Wow! They have stepped up their game. The General Tso's chicken was super delicious and a super large portion. My shrimp with broccoli was the same. We will definitely get our Chinese take out from here from now on. read more

I recently moved to Farmington Hills and was looking for a new Chinese restaurant. I happen to see this place driving down Middlebelt. The first time I ordered from here I got the beef with garlic and ginger sauce. The beef was very tender but I didn't taste any garlic or ginger. So I thought I'll give them another chance. So tonight I ordered the sesame chicken. First I want to say the portion size is huge, enough for 2 meals at least. The chicken was very good. I would have liked a little more sauce on the chicken. I also did not see any sesame seeds on the chicken. I really did not care for the fried rice. It was very bland and had no real flavor. It also didn't help that they forgot my egg roll. With other Chinese restaurants closer to my house I don't think I'll be coming back. read more

This place is the best in the area. Everything on the menu tastes great and there is a wide variety to choose from. You really get your money's worth with the portions (almost 2 pounds of food for the dinner sizes, which lasts me a few meals). It's difficult for me to give a Chinese food takeout restaurant higher than 3 stars because they mainly taste very similar. We had the general tso's chicken and sweet and sour chicken dinner combination plates. China Kitchen has good food, and the portions are huge. I can easily get three, maybe four meals out of this dinner plate. The meal comes with chicken rice, but it's very basic. You might want to upgrade to the combination rice for $1.50 more. They also give you two Chinese donuts with your order, and they are good. I'd order those. read more

This place is Great! I've been going here for years. Are used to go to other places around town. They have all gone downhill & this is my go to place now understands strong in their menu, and their prices, and the quality of the food. There's no comparison in the area. Their portions are huge out of 1 meal, you could make it for a couple days. They are oversized & their prices do not match their portion which means it is a very good price for all the food that you get. They are a hard-working family there that go to lunch to please their customer. I even call ahead some times & tell them how I like my chicken cooked & they listen every time. I ordered Garlic Shrimp with Lo mein noodles, when I got home, and tasted it because it had green pepper in it, I knew it tasted like sweet n sour, it was horrible, and I cant eat sugar health issue, so I called and told them there was a mistake ...end of story they denied any mistake they said that garlic shrimp is sweet and sour sauce and that's a lie I have ordered sweet and sour and I have ordered garlic shrimp so these people I will never go back there again because they can't make it right what they make mistakes at I paid like $20 for the order and along with wonton soup I will never return so they have to lie to you and can't correct anything they make a mistake on terrible terrible service. read more

Ordered for delivery online through their website and while it took way too long (almost 90 minutes), the food was hot, more than plentiful, and delicious! We ordered egg rolls, General tso chicken, and beef with garlic and ginger sauce. Both dishes were just the right amount of spicy and the portions will feed us for again tomorrow. Where could you find a restaurant open on Christmas Day? For sure Chinese restaurants. Thanks to China kitchen express, we were able to have a hot meal on this day. Ordered a bunch of food on Christmas day when we were moving. We had nothing but a mess inside of the house so we had to order for to go. We ordered for dishes, and they gave us a whole box of Chinese donut, a complete surprise. Mine was kungpao chicken with extra spicy. Usually I don't expect much Americanized Chinese food. I just regretted why I only discovered this place on the day we moved. Gosh it's probably the best American chinese I've had. I asked for spicy food, they gave me spicy food. I have no idea how reviews can be SO very different. My family ordered from here, we each had something different....almond chicken, sesame chicken, shrimp and scallop noodles, etc............all dinners came with an egg roll and fried rice...............WORST CHINESE FOOD EVER...the rice had no flavor at all,,tasted like dry white rice, they were out of scallops so they said they added extra shrimp, not true, there were barely any shrimp at all. My husband took 2 bites of the chicken and said it tasted like it had gone bad. Same with the egg rolls, they tasted old, like the cabbage was on the verge of being spoiled. The crab rangoons did not contain any crab and were more like deep fried wonton wrappers than anything else. I honestly wouldn't feed this food to my dog! read more

Well China Kitchen changed hands about a year after my original review calling themselves "New China Kitchen, then lasted a few years to only close about 6 months ago. This place then re-opened once again as "Express China Kitchen". The number associated with this places is wrong, but is the only one that comes up on a simple Google search...so ordering is tough...but i'm here for you (1-734-425-9888) They do have a number on the sign in front, but I always think about it after it is behind me, and when stopping in to order the other day, I didn't grab one of their cards. Now for the food, I ordered the sesame chicken (medium) and it was decent...not fantastic, not awful...just good. The white rice was dry but the won-ton soup was amazing. There was so much food I had enough to eat it for dinner the next day as well. All in all, this place is good and I will give it another go. read more
