The food is the best we have had since moving back to Westland. The Won Ton soup is very good. A nice rich broth with full wontons. The plain fried rice is quite tasty and not very plain. Our go to place for Chinese that is relatively close to home. Wait staff are kind and friendly. Love the Beef Noodle Soup. You can have them make it spicy but it comes mild. Very filling and you don't leave feeling bloated. Ramen is good as well. They are known for their bourbon chicken, which is also very good. We have been coming here for almost 10 years. They were recommended for Sushi by a friend, after we searched locally for a really good sushi spot. We were blown away on our first visit. Amazing, still doesn't describe it. There have been a few errors over the years, mostly with sesame seeds, LOL, but the food has remained TOP NOTCH! This is a business venture that has turned in to a Family run establishment. It's been a pleasure to watch the kids grow over the years. We got take out again last night. As we walked in to order we were greeted with a smile, recognized, and as we waited, we watched the regulars come in, all greeted and recognized as well. Another reason we love this place! We again ordered Sushi, phenomenal as always, and I got the hour and sour soup, which is ON POINT if you like a little extra heat. I can't get enough!! We highly recommend giving this place a try. I usually stay away from American/Chinese restaurants. For the most part they have been a consistent disappointment. I read many positive reviews of this restaurant so I decided to give it a try. The atmosphere of the restaurant is no frills although very comfortable. The owners of the restaurant are very friendly and pleasant. We ordered the Pork fried rice, Hot and Sour Soup, Wonton Soup, Almond chicken, Pad thai chicken, and Hunan pork very spicy. Our dinner arrived in only 8 mins after ordering it. I have never had such quick turnaround on an order. - The Wonton soup The Soup was good and tasted as expected. - The Hot and Sour Soup This soup had a very good flavor although it also had a sweet taste which was not expected. Don't sweeten the soup. When you make that change it will be my #2 Hot and Sour Soup in the area. - Almond Chicken This dish hands down is the best that I have ever had. Thin crunchy crust, tender and juicy meat. - Pad Thai chicken This dish was good but missing something. - Hunan pork very spicy It had a good taste. IMO just missing an element. It was ordered very spicy although it came out mild. No big deal. They gave me some chili spice that more then took care of lack of spice. - Pork Fried Rice They never brought it. I wanted to try their pork fried rice very much. I'm always in search of excellence in Fried Rice. It surprises me that so many Chinese restaurants make sub par Fried rice. It seems like Fried Rice would be a restaurant's solid dish. In my experience not the case. My wife and I went to the restaurant with my daughter, my son-in-law, and my granddaughter on a weekday. The restaurant was clean and well-kept. We were seated and the waitress came and took her orders. I ordered a cashew chicken dinner. When the food was brought to us, what was placed in front of me was NOT cashew chicken. My daughter, who was sitting to my right, ordered the Szechuan chicken, and when I looked at her plate and then my plate, the only difference in appearance was a small sprinkling of crushed pieces of cashew in the center of my plate. When I mentioned to the waitress that this was not a cashew chicken dinner, she responded that indeed this was a cashew chicken dinner. I told her she could remove the plate from the table and that I was not going to eat this. She took the plate away and I expected to have the meal removed from the bill. To my surprise, the meal had not been removed from my bill and so, not wanting to cause a scene, I paid the bill, left no tip, and went about my way. I will never return to the Golden Chopstick restaurant ever again. Trying to pass off pathetic substitutes for meals on their menu is not a good business strategy, but it seems to be one that the Golden Chopstick embraces whole heartedly. if the rating system would have let me, I would've given zero stars based on my experience. read more
