I RETURNED with my GF for a sushi lunch yesterday and did the buy 2 specialty rolls, get 1 classic roll FREE. We chose the NEW Lobster Delight Roll ($15) and the Royal Roll ($15) for our specialty rolls and the Alaskan roll ($7 now FREE) for our classic roll. Food is great- service terrible. Waitress was just a dumb human. Buddy ordered just chicken and steak due to allergies. They cooked his in the back. Did not come out to match our meal time so we could all eat together as requested. When they brought it out finally it had rice and vegetables and shrimp with it. Now let's get to why I was not really impressed with this place. Parking is BEHIND the restaurant in a dark lot full of train cargo. Was not comfortable with that at all. Looks suspect. Then after the great chef performance, I'm looking at my food and it looks delicious! I take my first couple spoonfuls and the flavor was not as impactful as I expected it to be. Idk if it wasn't enough seasoning or teriyaki sauce or what. I just know it looked better than what it tasted like. I've been to my fair share of hibachi grills and one of the most flavorful ones I've been to in the local area was benihanas in Dearborn. I've been a repeat customer of theirs for a few years. She then replied we stop seating at 8pm. I responded the hours on the door and online EVERYWHERE indicate they close at 10pm. She said those are pre COVID hours. My daughter hosted her 19th birthday of 25 friends at your establishment. Unfortunately she and her guests had a horrible experience. She made reservations weeks ago for 6pm. A few things to consider before dining here. The location is not bad. Just a few minutes off of the highway. Nestled on the business side of the street and residential on the other. Parking is located in the back of the restaurant. This particular location sits on the side, making this a small but quaint Hibachi restaurant. The overall restaurant houses 5 hibachi stations and a separate room for sushi. The staff was very accommodating, even after the fact I told them I had a Gluten allergy. They happily prepared my food in the back which is normal for me. I ordered the Chicken and Shrimp hibachi along with a California Roll. The waitress was so kind as to bring me Gluten-Free Soy Sauce and extra Yum-Yum sauce. The food was good. It had a lot of pepper in it which I'm not particularly used to but, I liked the dish. The California Roll was delish too! The ONLY thing I did not like was the fact that each bill automatically incurs a 20% gratuity for COVID cleaning purposes. In my opinion, I think that's a bit ridiculous to charge customers 20% gratuity. The atmosphere was not inviting and for a hibachi restaurant with HOT food being cooked at all times, the restaurant itself is COLD. Overall, 3 stars for me only because I really liked the wait staff and I had a great time chatting with my friends. The atmosphere is very open and restaurant doesn't seem as chaotic as most hibachi restaurants I've visit in the past. The show was pretty good. My son ordered the Pineapple Seafood Fried Rice, and we ordered 3 sushi rolls. The shushing rolls were delicious, the rest of the food was a let down at it's price point, if it were half the price I'd say it was acceptable minus the dish served in a moldy pineapple - that should of never happened, makes me wonder what else they overlook in the kitchen area ! We made reservations for a party of 12 a couple months out to celebrate a birthday on a Sunday evening. They do ask that you wait to be seated until all your party has arrived. With four adult children coming from various geographic points times are most usually within a "range". The staff were very accommodating that it took about 15-20 minutes for everyone to arrive after the reservation time. The parking lot is in the back so there is no way to see from Plymouth Road while driving if they are busy or not. Every Hibachi seating station was full during our two experience. First off the service was incredible. The birthday girl even received a balloon hat, happy birthday sung with a drum accompaniment, and very generous birthday dessert with candle. The chef was quite entertaining and put on a wonderful display of skill. He was engaging with each and everyone of us, which greatly enhanced everyone's experience. The chef was new and not as talented as the chef across the room; he wasn't bad, but just didn't grab out attention as he wasn't as 'seasoned'. When we've visited in the past we always walked out with leftovers, but the portion sizes were much smaller leftovers were not a possibility unless you left hungry.
