We did a carry out. The portion size is decent. We had the Thai basil fried rice and Panang curry. The fried rice was good but the panang curry could have been better and more flavorful

The chicken satay I got was delicious! The business there was so good that our waitress couldn't come by often. Other than that, the food was on point. The ambiance was nice, but the A/C was definitely broken tonight.

I had no idea the restaurant changed from Dos Perros to Thaiangle until Valentine's Day when we were downtown and saw it. We've been looking for a good Thai restaurant and may have juat found it. The decor was very nice and the food was great. We ordered the Chef's special Pacific Rim and Spicy Bamboo with beef. Portions were definitely large. The PaciRim had a good amount of seafood and a hearty amount of beef i. The spicy bamboo. We ordered both hot. The seafood was spicier and great flavor. Drinks were good and decently priced. We had great service and enjoyed our coenwrner table in the bar. The restaurant definitely got busy as the evening went on. We will be back to try the wings for sure and some of the other dishes.

I came here on a wednesday night and it was pretty busy. As soon as we walked in there was a line of people waiting to be seated. There was no hostess or anyone to greet or tell us how long the wait would be. Multiple servers walked by the line, but no one was acknowledged at all. We waited about 20 minutes before a server came to bring us to our table. However, once we were sat our service was much better. We ordered shu mai to start. The shu mai was just okay and it was $9 for 4 pieces. our group order beef thai basil, chicken spicy bamboo and i ordered the pad see ew and a thai iced tea. All of our food came out pretty quickly considering how busy they were. The portions were very big and we all left with leftovers. My pad see ew was pretty good but i do wish it had a little more flavor and that the noodles were a little thicker.

This is my new favorite Thai spot in the Triangle! Really good food and if you get the tofu option, they go hard on the veggies, which I appreciated. The portions are also huge! I got the drunken noodles, and ended up with leftovers. This rendition of drunken noodles truly blew me out of the water; the noodles were perfectly cooked and the dish was so flavorful. Also had the mango sticky rice for dessert, which was solid; the rice was a bit hard for my liking, so I probably won't be getting that again. On the weekdays, they do a $15 lunch special with many of their most popular dishes. Unfortunately, the lunch special isn't available on weekends. Service was on top of it initially but as the restaurant got busier, we did end up waiting a while to get boxes for our food and receive our checks. Ambiance is nice and tastefully decorated. I definitely will be coming back!

When it's cold outside, my body needs Thai food. A friend recommended this place after seeing them on social media, and oh boy, the hype was real. We came for dinner on Thursday night around 6:30 pm, and this place was packed. We had to wait quite some time to be seated, and it took more time to be served. If possible, I would go here a little earlier than that time. Also know what you want and order them as soon as you can since you may need to sit for a while until you can grab the server's attention. We got Steamed Gyoza for the table, I got Pacific Rim - Hot, and my friends got other dishes. I ate every drop of my dish. It was absolutely banging, perfect for a cold night. Their menu is so extensive, and I cannot wait to try more food!! Parking wasn't that convenient. Either street parking or park at the parking deck. There are parking spaces throughout downtown Durham, so you will find something.

Thai Angle never misses for me. It has to be the most reliable delivery of Thai food in the Triangle area, and they don't skimp on the heat. If you ask for hot, you will get hot. If medium, it may still be a bit hot. We got yellow curry, drunken noodles, and pad thai. I didn't try the pad thai as I don't typically enjoy this dish. But yellow curry and drunken noodles were 5/5. Flavors were spot on and portions were large. Priced well for the quality. Ambience is family-friendly with Thai decor. There was a line when we went in on Friday night, but people were seated within 15 minutes.

What I recommend: The coconut soup, drunken noodles, papaya salad, and a cold Chang beer This was my first time dining in at Thai Angle after having takeout a few times, and the experience was fantastic. We ordered the coconut soup, which came in a huge portion that easily feeds two to three people, and got it very spicy. It was incredible. The drunken noodles were also a massive portion with great flavor, and the papaya salad was fresh and bright. The Chang beers came in ice cold chilled glasses, which made them even better. Overall, Thai Angle is great bang for your buck. It is slightly pricier than spots like Thai on Main, but the portions are much larger and the quality is top tier. The ambience is great, the service is always 10 out of 10, and the staff makes you feel taken care of. As a Thai food enthusiast, this is my number one Thai spot in Durham. Definitely add it to your list, and get here early because the line gets long fast.

My friends and I are always on the lookout for good Thai food in the area, and Thaiangle did not disappoint. I ordered the Drunken Noodles, and honestly, it's probably the best version I've had around here so far. You can choose your protein and spice level, and what really stood out to me was the wok hei flavor that came through--super flavorful and well-balanced. We came right when they opened and were seated immediately, but the restaurant filled up quickly, so I'd recommend getting there early if you don't want to wait. Service was quick, and it's a family run restaurant, which made it feel like a home-cooked meal experience. I'll definitely be back to try more of their dishes!

We drive from Cary just to eat here. Food is amazing and they serve brown rice. Servers get orders right, deliver the food hot and are extremely nice. The restaurant is beautiful and very clean. Making this a regular place in our rotation. If you have time, take a walk around the American Tobacco District across few blocks away.

For parking, you will either have to park in a lot or find street parking. There was plenty of street parking on N Church Street and Cleveland Street which is located right behind the restaurant. My sister and I came in on a Friday night and we were pretty worried at first because there was a line almost out the door. But thankfully, we were seated within less than 10 minutes. We ordered the following: - Thai Iced Tea - Tom Kha Chicken - Pad See Ew The Thai iced tea was sweet and refreshing! As for the other 2 dishes, they were both delicious! I loved the presentation of the tom kha chicken and how the soup stayed nice and warm which is perfect for the chilly fall weather. I also appreciated how the soup was filled with mushrooms, chicken, and bamboo. And with all the lemongrass and spices used, every sip was fantastic! Pad See Ew is always a safe/classic option when you don't know what to order. My sister and I enjoyed this savory and satisfying noodle dish. Not to mention, the portion size is huge- we even had to take some home. The dishes came out within 15 minutes of placing the order so I appreciate how fast and diligent the workers and cooks were despite it being so busy! Everything we ordered here was delicious and I can't wait to come back again!

My friends found this restaurant and wanted to try it in Durham. I started off with the Thai tea. Although it was good, I did feel like it was lacking a little bit of flavor. Afterwards, we got the Gyoza. These were actually pretty good and we ate them very quickly. Finally I got the drunken noodles with chicken spicy. The portion size for this was massive. It was very well spiced and I would get it again. The inside felt like a good cozy atmosphere with plenty of seating. We went on a Thursday and were able to get seated immediately. Service was a little bit slow, but they were pretty busy inside. Prices were on the higher end, but match the portion sizes. No direct parking, but there are parking decks around the area. Overall, I really like this place and I would come back. Definitely want to try the Panang curry next time.

I've been here many times and the food is always amazing. I would recommend. Sometimes the appetizer comes after the entree so just be aware if you like it before your meal. Once thing I will say is they really need to hire a host. The servers are seating you and running around the whole time. I do believe this would fix some of their timing issues. If they are busy plan to wait at least 45 minutes for your food. The food is very good but adding a few additional people like a host could help a ton.

This is the best Thai food in Durham (and honestly, probably also chapel hill and raleigh). I went yesterday and the food is phenomenal. The wings, papaya salad & pad Thai are my favorite, but everything I've had is always excellent (and I'm extremely picky about my Thai food). This is authentic and the real deal. Sure, sometimes the service can be a little slow if they're understaffed, but that's no reason to give them a bad rating! I've only ever had good experiences here, and when everything is cooked to order I'd prefer they take their time making everything as delicious as possible. When I first moved to durham, I was disappointed that there wasn't any good Thai food available (the others aren't authentic). This place is legit! Also lol at the reviewer who asked for "hot", then knocked off a star because it was Thai-level hot & not white people hot. Don't order hot if you can't handle Thai levels of hot! read more

Got take out drunken noodles from here. It was a large portion to be sure but very mediocre flavor. It did not have much of a perceptive taste beyond the grilled vegetables in the dish. Really the contents resembled more of a Lao mein in terms of the vegetable medley in the dish. Unfortunately the worst drunken noodles I have had in the triangle area. Hopefully their other dishes are better executed. read more

For my first visit, I kept it simple. I got the red curry with tofu. You get extra veggies when you order the tofu, which is nice and not standard at other Thai restaurants. I asked for hot spice level and got it. By the end my meal, my nose was running a bit and I had a few beads of sweat on my forehead--just as I like it. Had I asked for very hot or extra hot, I would have needed medical care. Overall, the dish was good. I ordered a side of sticky rice and it was disappointing. It was fairly dry and seemed undercooked. Hopefully that's an anomaly. The service was friendly and pretty prompt despite a nearly full house on a Wednesday night at 7. The atmosphere is nice. Thai Angle is one of the best Thai restaurants in Durham. The flavors are bold and authentic. The portion sizes are very generous. We enjoyed the peanut butter sauce and cucumber salad that came with the chicken satay. My favorite dish I've tried so far is the Pacific Rim which includes fish, scallop, squid, mussel, and big succulent shrimp along with a mix of veggies. The Tom Zaab soup was also delicious but I wish we had the option to order in smaller portion size besides the huge hot pot bowl size. read more

Incredibly flavorful dishes w/LARGE dinner portions. My shrimp curry had 10 good sized shrimp. Even if you are full, you must taste the dessert. Roti and Banana in a Blanket were perfect finish to our meal. Service was excellent as well. My iced tea was never empty. read more

I went here for dinner last night and had the best time. It was my first time here but had heard nothing but good things. For dinner I had the drunken noodles with chicken with a Thai iced tea. The entree was enough for two meals and the beverage was so good. I loved the food. The dining room is super cute as well. I can't wait to come back here and try some of their other entrees. Fabulous Thai food! All of the seven dishes we ordered were good, but the best were the "Salmon of Two Rivers" and the "Pacific Rim", both of which were memorably excellent. The fish and vegetables were all very fresh, nothing was overcooked, and the presentation was bright and colorful. The service was also attentive without being overbearing. We had the pleasure of eating at Thai Angle for lunch this past Saturday. It was our first time in the place where Pompieri Pizza was formerly housed. We were greeted warmly and led to our table in this immaculate restaurant. There was a wide range of food. We had a curry dish and a Thai Basil Chicken dish, both were exceptional. Bottom Line Up Front: best Thai I've had in Durham so far The Good: Service was polite. Food was delicious and came out piping hot. Rarely at restaurants does it feel like the food came straight from the kitchen but Thai Angle was on the money. Good service. Tasty food and quick yet no rush to push you out the door. Tough to come up with a better formula for a restaurant. With so many good restaurants in Durham I find it difficult to return to one when there are 5 I have not tried yet. The ULTIMATE Best Thai Restaurant in Durham NC!! And the margaritas...especially the Golden Margarita is absolutely AMAZING!! It was my first visit there and I will definitely be back. The food was also great and very fulfilling. The customer service from the waitress and the bartender, were absolutely magnificent!!! After reading so many positive reviews, we knew we had to try this place. We were seated fairly quickly and off to a good start. That was short lived. Sadly, service here overall really is sub par. The place was understaffed and inattentive. We sat for 15 minutes without any service while others after us were serviced. A staff member finally asked if anyone had waited on us and quickly took our orders. She seemed very rushed. I never got my drink, the appetizers also never arrived - even after waiting 45 minutes and asking nicely for them! Disappointing. Finally, over an hour later, 2 of 3 dishes arrived - the beef Pad Se-ew is delicious and our side of basil fried rice (yum)! Sadly, we then had to wait another 10 minutes to finally receive our 2nd main entree - Drunken Noodles - which we specifically asked for very little spice - but the dish was loaded with hot chili flakes and super spicy...not prepared how we requested, even after she said it would be very little to no spice. I ended up eating the side of rice for dinner since the Drunken Noodles wasn't prepared as requested. We asked to speak with mgmt and politely explained our poor experience. After some discussion, they agreed to remove the appetizer and noodle dish from our bill and admitted they are short staffed, which really created an unpleasant ambiance. While the food here is authentic, tasty and delicious, the rushed atmosphere and service mistakes won't change unless staff is increased. The room was nearly full with a steady flow of patrons...so having stressed staff literally running amongst tables is not fair to them or patrons. This wasn't a good experience dining out...just too many mistakes. read more

I love the new Thai Angle restaurant! The food is fresh and delicious. My favorite dish is the soft-shell crab. The service is excellent and the ambiance is calm and understated. If you don't know what to order the servers are great for figuring out some options. I've been there for lunch and dinner and always got a table quickly. They also have a bar and interesting featured drinks. Definitely worth a visit! read more

Good food, but truly astoundingly bad service. I do not know how such nice people can really serve so poorly. I would maybe get takeout. They brought the right appetizer on the third try but after my entree, I had to get my own boxes, and I could go on but I am not trying to dunk on those nice, slow, disorganized people. We came here after it was recommended to us. SO good. And a very cute vibe. Had none of the growing pains you think of in a brand new restaurant. The service was friendly and speedy, they answered any questions we had about their menu/knew it backward and forward, and the food came out pretty quickly too. And as for the food - incredible. We had a pad Thai, chicken cashew nut, kung pao tofu, and split a few appetizers and they were all so good! We can't wait to come back. A really special addition to downtown Durham! read more

Jack and the team are back! This time, our mission is to create a space in downtown Durham that reminds us of our homeland and fuses different cultures we’ve come across on our journey. Let us share our experience of food and dining with you, from a Thaiangle. Our family started our business adventures together over two decades ago. So far, it’s taken us through Los Angeles, Billings, and Carrboro. We’re excited you’re joining us, as we walk into the heart of Durham.

Lunch for two came to about $80 plus tax and tip, making this one of the more upscale lunches we've had recently. We ordered: * Crispy Brussels Sprouts * Shrimp Dumplings (6) * Mongolian Beef * Grilled Lemongrass Hanger Steak Salad * Unsweetened iced tea The Food The Crispy Brussels Sprouts were a great start. They were crisp on the outside without being overcooked, and the mint, peanuts, and pickled onions added both texture and freshness. It was also a large enough portion for leftovers. The Shrimp Dumplings were excellent. The flavor was outstanding, and the Thai chili oil, garlic, scallions, and sesame worked beautifully together. My only criticism was the portion size. At six small dumplings, they felt a little pricey for what you receive. The Mongolian Beef was probably the best value of the meal. The beef had a nice sear while remaining tender inside, and the portion was generous enough that we had leftovers for another meal. It had a nice overall flavor as well. The Grilled Lemongrass Hanger Steak Salad was good, but not quite at the same level. The steak had good flavor, but the cut itself was somewhat chewy. The accompanying rice was simply prepared and didn't add much to the dish. The flavors were enjoyable, although slightly sweeter than my wife prefers. Service Service was excellent. Our server took the time to walk us through each dish, explaining ingredients, spice levels, and preparation so we could choose items that fit our tastes. We especially appreciated her knowledge of the menu and her attentiveness throughout the meal, my iced tea was never empty. Overall Juju offers an attractive setting, excellent service, and several very well-executed dishes. Our biggest challenge was simply that much of the lunch menu leans toward spicier offerings than we typically enjoy. While we probably wouldn't return specifically for lunch, the dinner menu appears to offer a much wider variety of choices that fit our tastes. We'll likely be back to give dinner a try.

They make cookies, pastries, breads (pan loaf and hand-formed ones), soups, hand pies, and sandwiches. The variety is amazing. During the holiday season, they offer larger pies and have various seasonal goods to offer. But what's also wonderful is this bakery gives back to the community in many ways. During the height of the pandemic, they offered free bagged lunch to anyone who needed one. They also were (are?) part of the pilot project for Durham's guaranteed income. It looks to me that the owners/company are concerned about being good citizens of the community and that's a great thing. These days, so many companies get bought out by private equity companies. I hope this bakery continues to be locally owned and operated! (Also, generally this bakery isn't offering the very fancy European/European-ish style pastries which is fine by me. The prices are very reasonable, possibly in part because they aren't trying to make their baked goods a "high end" item. There are other good local bakeries that offer "high end" pastries, but they are also much less affordable and for my taste, too rich.)

I arrived for lunch just as the nch just as the restaurant opened, so it was nearly empty. The tables were clean and nicely decorated. When I sat down, the server was very welcoming and helpful. She promptly served my meal and checked on me periodically, but not excessively. The food was delicious; I ordered the lunch special, Thai fried rice with pork, and it was served hot and flavorful. Between the three of us, we tried two noodle dishes (hand pulled noodles with spare ribs & shaved noodles with bean paste aka zha jiang mian) and two regular dishes that came with rice (eggplant with garlic sauce & Hunan roasted pork aka hong shao rou). Outside of the regular menu that comes in a giant booklet, we also ordered the salted egg yolk lava buns off of their separate dim sum menu. In terms of the good, I absolutely LOVED the texture of the shaved noodles and also really enjoyed the texture of the hand pulled noodles, though I personally prefer a wider noodle which would be the shaved ones. Additionally, the eggplant with garlic sauce was solid and so were the salted egg yolk lava buns! Now in terms of the not so great, while we understand that Hunan roasted pork comes with pork belly which can be fatty, many of the pork belly pieces in this dish were pretty much all fat with no lean meat (basically inedible) which I have not seen in this dish at other restaurants. Also, the sauce that came with the shaved noodles was very one dimensional and just tasted of sweet bean paste with very little savory / umami flavor.

Our party of four was seated immediately at 6:30pm on a Friday evening. We ordered three dishes: - pad see ew with shrimp - red curry with shrimp - massaman curry with tofu The pad see ew was the standout: the large shrimp and the broccoli were cooked perfectly, and it had good flavor overall. The two curries were disappointing. The tofu in the massaman curry was cut very small and seemed over-fried, and the sauce lacked the creamy richness I associate with that dish -- the kind that comes from potatoes simmering in the curry for a long time (and the potatoes seemed barely cooked). The red curry had only two pieces of eggplant (!) and was overwhelmed by too many red and green bell peppers -- they dominated the flavor profile. Like the pad see ew, the red curry did include large, well-cooked shrimp, which was its saving grace. Both curry dishes also had far more bamboo shoots than seemed necessary (as another Yelper notes, about 5x what other places put in). Using so much of an an inexpensive filler vegetable looks like a way the restaurant is trying to save money -- just sayin'. I also tasted a companion's tom kha soup, which was essentially warm coconut milk with very little additional flavor. More bamboo shoots... One note about both serving sizes and presentation: the serving platters at Cham Thai are extremely wide and very shallow, which spreads the food out into a very thin layer over a large area and gives the impression of a larger portion of food than is actually there (noting this because many reviews say that the "portions are huge" -- not our experience). For diners needing gluten-free options, the messaging from the staff was very confusing. At first we were told confidently by our server that "any dish on the menu could be easily be made gluten-free" because the kitchen "has three sauces: regular, vegan, and gluten-free." When we ordered a dish gluten-free, however, the server paused, said he "needed to check something," left, and returned to say that dish could NOT be prepared gluten-free after all (?). A "Cashew Nut" entree ordered gluten-free arrived missing the cashews; after checking with the kitchen, the server explained they had been omitted because the fried cashews in the dish could not be guaranteed gluten-free due to cross-contamination. It would have been helpful to know that ahead of time, or given raw cashews when the dish was served to us. Our server apologized and eventually gave us a bowl of raw cashews on the side. It's also worthy of note that NONE of the eleven dishes they call "Recommendations" on the menu are vegetarian (see photo). All in all, our meal at Cham Thai didn't quite live up to the restaurant's Yelp reviews. There is better Thai food in the Chapel Hill/Carrboro area.
