Really good food and very large portions. Service is good, but they were having some issues with their air conditioning.

I was not even sure if I wanted Thai food. I had not really had much experience with it. My friend and I went and we tried each other's food and her food and my food were absolutely amazingly delicious. Fresh everything and generous portions! We can't wait to go back and try some more things. Cannot wait to finish my leftovers tomorrow. The wait staff was very friendly and helpful. The service was perfect. The ambience of the restaurant is very pleasant. Nice high ceilings and spacing between tables. You could talk in there. It wasn't overly loud. I highly recommend this dining experience! read more

As a Duke student, I'm extremely disappointed with both the food quality and customer service at Thaiangle. I ordered the Crispy Duck for $25, which came with about 6 pieces. Only 2 pieces were normal--the other 4 were almost entirely duck neck, bones, and fat with barely any edible meat. When I politely pointed this out to the server, he took my plate and said he'd "check and get back to me." We finished our meal and waited over 20 minutes. No one came back. When I finally asked again about the issue, his only response was: "There's nothing we can do. It's by chance." This is completely unacceptable. If there's a "chance" I'll get a $25 plate of bones and scraps, I should be warned when ordering. A restaurant's basic responsibility is quality control and consistency, not making customers gamble on whether they'll actually get food. What's worse is their attitude--taking my plate, making me wait 20+ minutes, then offering zero resolution or apology shows total disrespect for customers. I'm not upset about one bad dish. I'm upset that they clearly don't care about making things right. The "it's by chance" excuse is insulting for any restaurant claiming to serve quality food. Save your money and go anywhere else. There are plenty of great Thai restaurants in Durham that actually value their customers. Thaiangle is not one of them. I will not be returning. read more

My wife and I dined for lunch at Thai Angle on 11/20/2025. I ordered the Thai Beef Noodle Soup and my wife ordered Drunken Noodles. My wife and I were both delighted with our meals. The broth in the beef noodle soup was unreally delicious and had amazingly seasoned and perfectly cooked beef, basil, scallions and rice noodles. I ask for a sampling of chile pastes and powders to spice my soup to the perfect heat and flavor. My wife loves her drunken noodles with chicken, which was a very generous serving size suitable for taking home leftovers. Suffice to say we will visit Thai Angle Restaurant during future visits to Durham NC. read more

I think this is a newer place but they have great food and friendly servers. We were seated quickly, ordered water and submitted our order within minutes. The employees kept moving and worked well as a team...filling water, removing empty dishes, checking in... And the food was delicious with a generous serving size. We went for the first time on a Friday evening before a DPAC show. We were able to make a reservation over the phone which is super helpful when we are limited on time before a show. Food was great with huge portions! I had enough leftovers for 2 lunches. The service was a little rough. They seemed to want us to order very quickly, maybe because we were there early and they knew the rush was coming. They didn't know how to answer questions about the drinks, and when we asked what kind of IPA they had even after they checked with the bar they only told us it was a draught beer and not where the beer was from. When someone in our group ordered a second round of the unknown IPA they brought out a can of something else that had to be sent back. They mixed up tofu pad Thai and chicken pad Thai, thankfully it was just at our table and no one started eating before the mistake was realized. We asked to split the bill down the middle for 2 of us to pay, and they messed things up at least 3x and we had lots of voided out receipts. Definitely hope they can work out some of these kinks, because this spot could be 5 stars if the service improves. read more

We got 3 different dishes plus appetizers. Everything so so good. Right down the street from DPAC, so will definitely go again.

We had read good things about this restaurant from a local foodie group on Facebook and finally stopped by early one evening. We looked on their website to see if they took reservations but we didn't see anything indicating as such. One of the recommended dishes was the crispy tofu app (apparently fondly remembered from the chef/owners previous restaurant) and we enjoyed the texture and garlicky taste of the dish. I had green curry with chicken (hot) and my wife had the drunken noodles (medium), both of them sufficiently spicy for our tastes. The decor is bright and they still have images of the two dogs from the space's previous incarnation as Dos Perros. Service was friendly and efficient, and we would consider them again the next time we feel like Thai food. read more

I dont know if the food is any good because the service was so awful I was afraid to eat. I asked about vegetarian options because nothing was marked and I was told by a man, who said he was an "expert on this" that everything was vegetarian which is off for a cuisine which often uses fish products. I know how to read and also I know chicken is not vegetarian. I'm celiac and after that discussion I didnt trust the "gluten free" label so opted for the drinks instead. For drinks we had another of red wine and some Thai iced teas , we got the veggie spring rolls, egg rolls, chicken wing s, 2 kinds of soups the chicken wonton soup and Tokyo's chicken, main course was shrimp fried rice , chicken green curry, chicken pad Thai, , cashew beef and salmon . Just ate here last night before going to DPAC for a show and it was delicious! We ordered the Tom Kha soup with chicken and it was one of the best I've had: So flavorful with tons of chicken in it. I'll be back for that again soon! We also had the Pad Thai with shrimp and it was also very good. Our waiter was quick to take our order and checked up on us. Went on a Monday night with a party of three; the Thai Basil was very good, as was the Pacific Rim seafood dish. However, my wife ordered the Crispy Duck, and our waitress came back to tell her that the veggies were not available, and would she accept pickled veggies instead, which she accepted. The duck came and it looked like it had a batter on it and it was overcooked. Basically, there was about two or three good bites of meat, but the rest was bones and skin. I tried this restaurant my first time visiting Durham in June and was so excited to have it again this weekend when visiting again. Their food is amazing and some of the best Thai I've ever had. We got drunken noodles, spicy basil fried rice, and Pacific Rim -- all loaded with flavor, protein and vegetables. Their service is also good and staff were attentive. I had to give up. The front entrance was a virtual fire hazard of unattended guests waiting with no host in site. There was one poor woman operating the front every 20 minutes or so, but also assigned to handle the other side of the restaurant. A gentleman operated the bar briefly, then left. Took 30 minutes for me to get to the bar, waited another 15 while the gentleman and the host ignored all of us at the bar. Heinously understaffed. The food looked good if not overpriced for noodles and sauce. I might try again at lunch, but that was unacceptable if it wants to compete with the other good restaurants around. read more

We really enjoyed our casual dinner here on a Sunday (which is an added plus because so many downtown Durham restaurants aren't open on Sundays). I'm not a Thai food connoisseur but my husband and I enjoyed all the dishes we ordered. The fried calamari app was nice and crispy with big chunky pieces of calamari. It was lightly fried and the batter wasn't heavy. My husband ordered the Crispy Duck (under Chef's Choice) and I ordered the tofu pad see eew. My noodle dish was the top choice. It had a nice Smokey flavor and there was an abundance of tofu and veggies. The crispy duck was also very good, the duck was tender but my husband felt that the side of steamed veggies was bland. We will definitely be back to try other items off the menu but will likely always order a pad see eew to share. read more

Do not order mixed drinks at this restaurant. I ordered 2 different mixed drinks here on different nights ($14 each). I couldn't taste or feel any alcohol. On the second time, I asked if there was in fact any alcohol in the drink and the bartender offered to add a little more. He poured in less than a quarter of an ounce then wanted me to pay for an additional shot if I wanted any more. You are essentially paying $14 for mostly ice and a little juice. Also pretty much every dish we ordered was completely out of balance flavor wise - obscenely sweet. Savory Thai food is not supposed to be primarily seasoned palm sugar. I've had a couple great dishes, but the rest weren't worth ever ordering again. I really wanted to love this restaurant but have mostly been disappointed. Don't ever order their cocktails! read more

This place would have been 2 stars in a more metropolitan city but given the presumably low number of Thai patrons in this small town, I'm bumping this to three stars. Service is, well, serviceable. Not fast or slow but adequate. They don't have many people working there. The food is, well, is it Thai??? Pad Thai turned out to be something like a fried noodle thing with that looked like overcooked Chinese Lo Mein noodle. You know Pad Thai is supposed to be made with Rice noodles that is thin, flat noodles made from rice flour. And Som Tum, the papaya salad, has about tablespoon's worth of actual papaya. If you have to North-Carolinasize the two trade mark Thai dishes, you really can't call this Thai food. read more

Delicious! Only place in the south that has good food that tastes like what's in NY. Had the massaman and it was tasty - very flavorful and and had peanuts like it should not cashews! The fresh spring rolls were ok - the tofu prep was different than I was use too - and asked for peanut sauce for dipping which was good but had a surcharge. I wouldn't get those again - sad you have to pay for the sauce that they are actually supposed to come with. Great ambiance, great service and definitely worth driving 45 minutes for. The location is central to local attractions. The ambience is relaxing, colorful, and bright. I love the artwork from Thailand posted throughout the restaurant. I didn't enjoy the steamed gyozas, but I'll order them fried or pan seared the next time. Staff were friendly and attentive, and the bathroom was clean. I loved the decor overall. What? Good thick, rich, flavorful Thai curries in NC??? Yup! Been searching for my favorite go-to Thai spot for years and Thai Angle is it! Have had a few specialty dishes, noodle dishes, and a few curry dishes; ALL of which were impressive. We have only had take-out so I can't comment on the service. I can say that we have never had any mistakes on our orders to go. ALSO - the inside of the restaurant looks and smells GREAT -They have a pretty big bar too. Thai Angle Restaurant is overall my favorite Thai restaurant in the Triangle area. My group came for early dinner and they had attentive servers (they felt like warm family and friends?) matching the decor of cheerful mint green slat walls, cream tin ceiling tiles and finished lumber dining furniture. They have varied, balanced menu. We tried Tom Kaab soup, Crispy Tofu, Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles, Massamun Curry and the Banana Leaf-wrapped Salmon, and Mango Sticky Rice for dessert. Normally I initially gauge a Thai restaurant by their Pad Thai. Does it have good favor without spice? Not too sugary? Does it hold up when you add spice? It was a bit more sugary than I like (which is probably for kids and newcomers to Thai food?) But all the other dishes were solid! Portions were good sized, and the curry had very good texture and flavor, and the Tom Kaab had a light sour broth that highlighted the veggies and chicken. We've been back to Thai Angle several times since our first review, and it has quickly become our favorite Thai spot in Durham! We normally don't order Pad Thai, but at Thai Angle, the dish was super flavorful and the portions lasted us a good 2-3 meals! The Green Curry was made with a nice kick of spice. We also tried their Crab Rangoons, which were very cream-cheesy if you're into that flavor. Upgrading our review to a 5, they've only improved since opening! read more

Based on other reviews, I think I may have come on an "off" night. My go-to Thai restaurant is either Twisted Noodle or Thai on Main for comparison. The ambiance is fine (lots of florals going on). Prices are about the same as other Thai places in town and the portions were huge. I ordered the pad thai and it was fine but didn't blow me away. What most bothered me was I felt very rushed by the staff. There clearly were specials written on a chalkboard (that I didn't see until I went to the bathroom) that were never mentioned. Our drinks didn't come until after the food (which was very quick). I will definitely try it again as I also may be somewhat biased because I liked Dos Perros a lot (wish somewhere downtown would have a $10 margarita) and they are fairly new. read more

honestly, thaiangle is the best thai food in durham hands down. the wait for food can be a little long sometimes but it's *always* worth it. the food is cooked to perfection every time and I've never had anything bad on the menu. I love the tom kha & tom yum soups both of which are served with generous portions (as are all the dishes, really). I've also enjoyed several of the noodle dishes. they have a variety of items on the menu that you just don't find other places. be careful with how spicy you order the food though because I find that their interpretation of "medium" can be a little spicy sometimes. I like spicy food but my acid reflux says no. lol as far as service is concerned- the servers are very friendly and they always remember me when I come in! finally, as someone who likes puns I love their name. go ahead and treat yourself. read more
