8 Oz sirloin with Mashed Potatoes and Steamed Vegetables
    Mike G.

Not a great experience tonight. It's crazy that they seem to always be busy, regardless when you show up. We did a call ahead to get on the wait list and were surprised to still have a fairly long wait when we showed up. Then we moved to the 'on deck' section and waited there (in the way of others) for several more minutes. Ok, so we finally get to a table, and our waitress was nice and attentive. My wife and I each get a sirloin, hers medium well, and mine medium, while both daughters get the chicken crispers. After another decent wait (luckily we had the rolls), we get our steaks. My wife's is medium well, and mine is actually cooked even more than medium well...somewhere between well and shoe leather. Our waitress apologizes and sends back my steak. Sounds like they'll expedite it, which would be nice because we've already been waiting a long time. She comes by a few times in the next 20-30 mins, and is a little surprised I still don't have a steak. I've finished my sides (which were just fair), and others at my table are almost done. My wife said her steak didn't have much flavor, and neither girl were wowed by their chicken crispers. Finally, the manager brings me another steak and asks me to cut into it. It's fine, I say, so she leaves. It still doesn't have much flavor, but at least it's cooked medium. When our waitress returns, I'm surprised that there's been no reference to them taking anything off the bill for such a long wait. I make a reference about, I assume we're not being charged for my steak, right? Our waitress seems a little taken aback by my comment but then says she'll go see what she can do. A few mins later, the manager comes by to see if there's still an issue or asks if the replacement steak was ok. I said it was ok but took a long time. Even though the meal was ruined, she can't seem to understand why I would be asking to not be charged for the steak. "We did go ahead and make you a whole new steak", she says. As if she was doing me a favor...or as if she could've somehow fix the first steak that was so massively overcooked. Luckily, I didn't really understand what she had said until she left. In the end, they took a whopping 10% off the bill, so an $8 discount on the $22 steak. Long wait, stressful night, mediocre food, and decent service...although management could learn a thing or two. I'm guessing we'll be back at some point but probably not real soon.

Servers were very rude, and force us to leave. Wouldn't recommend this place unless you like rudeness

She was right ! The chicken wings we ordered extra crispy and I have to say the rub was delicious on the wings- I mean I ate all the meat of my chicken wings - and that's not always a thing for me. I ordered my chicken well to make sure it was cooked and my bacon extra crispy- and to my happiness they have real potatoes to make the French fries!!! My husband got the Cheeseburger and onion rings and they were tasty too! I had to try one - and they were just as good as my fries! THE ONLY SUGGESTION I WOULD MAKE is spend money on your BUNS! You want your bun to be as fresh as your food! The bun seemed old and tore apart as I ate my sandwich. It's a little dark but it's a bar and grill so it's perfect for a night out to watch some football! Our table was really clean but it wasn't that busy - - Hubby and I really enjoyed ourselves- so we went back a second time - got the same thing - but it was different this time - maybe because it was busy or a different cook but - I'll still support and again: SPEND SOME MONEY TO HAVE AWESOME BUNS for your sandwiches because the chicken is good!

It took an extra moment before I was greeted but thereafter, the service was on par. Since breakfast is served all day, I went with the Cinnamon Apple French Toast, sans whipped cream. Today, it was made with fresh sourdough, dipped in a cinnamon vanilla custard. The vanilla is slight in flavor and the cinnamon is more noticeable in the apple compote.....which is IMHO the best part of the entree. The entree was a good portion without needing extra sides (but don't hold back if you are famished). The seating area was clean and the diner overall was nicely decorated...not overly cluttered like most diners. The tables are closely placed and best for solo, duo, or family dining. Groups might be hard to squeak in. Grateful I was finally able to make a visit.

The biscuits and gravy are some of the best I've ever had, especially with their green chile breakfast gravy for a little extra kick. We never skip the breakfast relleno or one of their giant cinnamon rolls, and the cheese curds are a must if you're in the mood for something savory. Everything we've tried has been delicious, and it's the kind of place we find ourselves coming back to again and again.

Even though every table was full by 12:15, the staff was hustling. Our server checked on us multiple times and our Hoffens Burgers were excellent. There was plenty of goat cheese, avocado and roasted red pepper. Definitely crave worthy! I loved the curry crema dipping sauce and ate it with my fries and burger. It was very loud for about an hour and then the place began to empty out and the noise level was more tolerable. I noticed they had some specialty cocktails that were new so I'll be heading back soon to try those. Quick additional tip: We tried to go to dinner at 5pm tonight (granted it's a Saturday) and even though the restaurant looked almost empty we were told it would be an hour wait for our party of 6. I feel like we could have eaten and been out in that time but we weren't given a chance. The hostess didn't seem very sorry to see us leave so I'm rethinking coming back any time soon. First time not being welcomed there. So my tip is - even when you think a restaurant is casual - MAKE A RESERVATION. (I really didn't want to eat there twice in one week anyway ;)

The Hubs ordered the Smoked Pulled Pork Sandwich that comes with bourbon bbq sauce, creamy coleslaw and pickles, and is served with fries (although he swapped out the fries for more slaw). Everything was delicious! I had my burger cooked medium-well and it was perfect; it was still slightly pink inside and moist. While the burger was very tasty, one major plus was that it was also structurally sound (all the ingredients stayed inside the bun and the bun didn't fall apart)! The Hubs also enjoyed his pulled pork sandwich. I tasted the bbq sauce and the slaw that came with his lunch and both were amazing (I dipped more of my fries into the extra bbq sauce that came with his sandwich than I did into the comeback sauce). The fries that came with the burger were crispy, not greasy and not overly salted. While I only had an iced tea with lunch, I did peruse their specialty drinks menu. Wowza, is that a read! We'll be back sometime soon for dinner so we can check that out. BTW, their food menu is more than burgers and sandwiches and there are some nice sounding items that appeal to me more for dinner than lunch (two examples (1) Hoisin Ginger Tuna: Sashimi-grade tuna seared rare, parmesan risotto, arugula slaw, (2) Pesto Cream Salmon: Pan seared salmon crusted with parmesan breadcrumbs, penne pasta, pesto cream sauce, cherry tomatoes, roasted red pepper). Despite this restaurant's location next to a boarded up vacant restaurant and being right next to I25, the interior is surprisingly nice and welcoming. And our server was friendly and helpful. So no complaints here!
