Long Island ice tea at $5 Bargain!
Guy H.

Corpus Christi can be challenging when trying to find dependable, satisfying meals at a good price. Not feeling like too much effort,I crossed my fingers and took a chance on a place I've patronized in many states with good outcomes . Texas Road House! This spot is just like all the others. No frills, drug store cowboy environment, good service and solid food. These guys didn't have it on the ball quite like all the others I've visited but,it worked and I'd go back. Just shy of 4 stars but easily a solid 3. Go!

A roach in my tea

The waiter was amazing, had a great attitude and was very helpful. We went today and found a bug on the bread and a roach in my tea. I'm not one to panic after the first bug but a second one was a little weird. I told the waiter and he apologized and got us more bread and a drink. My daughter got a Salad that was not cold at all.

Best steak in Corpus Christi. Texas roadhouse rolls are also provided. Fresh and warm when serve. Cleanliness I will give 4/10 for tables, chairs and floors.

We were craving steak so of course we had to go to texas roadhouse. The fresh rolls were a bonus! I got the kabobs and my husband for a steak and fries. Big portions.

Leaking roof.

The customer service was excellent! I didn't like the fact that the ceiling fan right above our food was caked with dust. The roof was leaking. Rain water fell on at least three tables including ours. I moved. I ate my food. I suggest cleaning the fans and the items on the wall. We had grilled shrimp with rice, steak, Lemon herb chicken and pork chops. We all loved out food.

This looks like the New York Strip* could be the ribeye. Regardless, the steaks are great.

Look, I haven't been to Texas Roadhouse since the late 90's. That was in KC when they had pails of peanuts in shells on the table and you threw the shells on the floor. That aside, the wife wanted dinner rolls so she researched and Texas Roadhouse was her choice. The food was great, rolls were amazing. The cinnamon butter was to die for, the salads great with ranch that rivals any other steak house. I prefer the sirloin because of how lean it is same with the filet. Ribeye and NY strip looked amazing. My sirloin was fantastic and perfectly cooked. Legit steak fries are the best. The only reason for 3 stars is the wait. It wasn't bad but the fact that you have to wait outside where you're eaten alive by mosquitoes, it t can be hot/humid and little coverage if it rains. The bar is too crowded to wait in. A solution would be a pipe and drape type area outside that's covered with a canopy and portable AC unit or two would be ideal. Also, calling people to the hostess station only to wait in another queue to be seated is no reprieve. They call it "on deck" but you're still just standing inside. Provide some seats. Look, I get it's not perfect but look for solutions. Other than that, the food is amazing.

Probably one of the better chain steakhouses. It's a shame what happened to their CEO last year.

Amazing! The Ribs!!!!!…read more Lovely casual or fancy date night. I've been here a few times actually and each time the service is great. Always filling up your glasses, never got an order wrong, and are so accommodating to all requests. I always get the ribs. They literally fall off the bone. They are that tender!

We arrived early on a tired Tuesday evening and my partner and I were immediately seated, handed…read moremenus and ordered drinks. The restaurant is located in a strange space right where Airline and Cimarron intersect; it's a bit hard to find. The inside is painted bright sea blue with nautical decorations with about 20 tables. The menu contains mostly seafood but some chicken and steak selections. We ordered fried grouper/shrimp platter with okra and cole slaw and grilled shrimp with rice pilaf and mixed vegetables. We were given a bowl of fresh potato chips, warm from the fryer - they're good, but I would suggest salt and seasonings, maybe even a sauce for dipping as they are bland. Bland seemed to be the cuisine of the day. Our fish and shrimp were not seasoned very well, and needed more salt/pepper just to be palatable. The tartar sauce is very tasteless as is the cole slaw made with mainly red cabbage. The okra was fine, the hushpuppies were forgettable and would benefit greatly from a little jalapeno, onion, corn or pepper. Grilled shrimp was good except for the seasoning and the pilaf was okay, but who raves about rice pilaf? Steamed veggies (yawn) were yucky. Even a cheese sauce or butter sauce would have improved the flavor. The portions of grouper on the fish/shrimp platter were tiny - about the size of a half dollar and there were only three of them. At the price you would expect a little more. The shrimp on that platter were large but overcooked. Everything tasted fresh - - no complaints there. The service was attentive and friendly. The restaurant is clean inside and has a full bar. Total for two platters, two teas was $46.88 without tip. With just a few tweaks this restaurant would be five stars.

Since it was our first time dining at Republic of Texas, we were unsure of the checkout process. Our server mentioned that we could charge the bill to our room, but we wanted to leave him a generous cash tip. Unfortunately, he walked by our table several times without acknowledging us, and we waited over 20 minutes before I finally had to get up and practically head toward the kitchen to give him our payment and tip. We still left a 20% tip because we understand how busy Saturday nights can be, but when guests are sitting there with to-go bags, it only takes a few seconds to check on them and see what they need. That was our only disappointment, and although it was frustrating, I would not take any stars away because of it. We ordered the Bison Steak, Ribeye, baked potato, au gratin potatoes, quail knots, scallop appetizer, crème brûlée, bread pudding, and bread. Everything came out hot, fresh, and delicious. I ordered a white russian and my husband ordered one of their signature drinks, both were tasty. Our bill was $312 for 2 cocktails, 2 appetizers, 2 steaks, 2 sides, 2 desserts. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely return if we are ever back in the area.

Was visiting Corpus and found this restaurant online and decided to give it a try and I'm so glad…read morewe did. The food and service were both great. We came in about an hour before closing so the restaurant was nearly empty, but our waiter served us graciously and didn't miss a beat on amazing service. We had the calmari, kats meow (shrimp appetizer), and a steak with Mac n cheese and potatoes. All were amazing. I also had a caesar salad that paired well with the shrimp accompaniment that we ordered with the steak. Only watch out, is it was a little dark in the restaurant to me, but nothing unbearable. I would definitely recommend and whenever I'm back in Corpus I will return.

Here's my Clint Eastwood review, The Good, The Bad, and The Disappointing…read more The Good Location, not on SPID and all that congestion. Located on Spohn right off of S Staples, really nice location. This place is huge, with a giant bar, where we like to sit and dine, with an adjacent raw/Sushi bar, very nice. The bar offers a huge selection of adult beverage makings. We were celebrating our 39th anniversary, so a restaurant of this caliber is certainly appropriate. The drinks, a Tanqueray Martini with an Orange twist for her and a Manhattan straight up with four roses bourbon for me, were perfectly sized and delicious. The restaurant boasts a large freestanding humidor with a nice selection of cigars. I also noticed a wall of personal humidor lockers for customers to keep their personal cigars available. This all suggested a cigar room, but I never saw it. The wait staff, were mostly attentive. Instead of depending on your bartenders to deliver food, I'm more accustomed to restaurants, of this caliber, to have a dedicated wait staff for bar dining patrons. Especially considering they have a large number of high top tables for dining in the bar. Friday nights, like when we were there, get pretty hectic for the bartenders. For our second drink the bartender made mistakes on both our drinks, my wife's Martini came with Olives,(I liked them) instead of the twist of orange. My Manhattan came with her twist of orange instead of the usual Luxardo cherry. Perhaps if the bartenders just bartended they wouldn't make simple mistakes. ‍ . They were very nice and brought me a shot glass with several Luxardo cherries in it. Thank you Ladies! The food. We started with appetizers. My wife got their escargot that were traditionally prepared in an escargot serving dish rich with butter, garlic and a hint of citrus. They were delicious, albeit small. My wife was happy with them. I got their Crispy Calamari Atop Stir Fried Carrots, Green Onions & Cashews with a Kung Pao Sauce. This dish, for us, was the hit of the night. The calamari, instead of the rings so commonly served, were calamari strips. They were perfectly fried and the combination of the calamari, the vegetables and that kung pao sauce was absolutely mouth watering. If you like calamari I highly recommend this dish. You won't be disappointed. Entrees. My wife got their escargot Greek style rack of Lamb with spinach. The Lamb was perfectly seasoned and served medium-rare. It was absolutely delicious. If you like Lamb this is a great dish, oh and the chops were huge! The Bad. Nothing to see here. The Disappointing. I ordered the USDA Prime Ribeye with Citrus-Braised Baby Carrots & Whipped Potatoes and a Dijon Herbal Butter. I order my steaks cooked medium-rare "Pittsburgh style". First, everyone knows what a ribeye steak looks like, it has that very distinctive shape, you can't miss it. If what they served me was a ribeye, then I'm the true Bad Bunny! When the entrees were delivered they didn't give us steak knives, we had to ask for them. Now maybe they were that confident in the tenderness of the meat that they didn't feel we needed steak knives. Or maybe, just maybe, they should be tending bar instead of delivering food. Second the menu clearly states USDA Prime Ribeye. I know what that is, and what was served me wasn't that. As I stated I order my steaks "Pittsburg style". What that means is the steak is first cooked to an internal temperature that is 5 to 10° short of medium-rare. The steak is then immersed in either melted butter or tallow and then immediately thrown on a very hot grill. This causes the grill to engulf the steak in flames charring the outside of the steak and raising the internal temperature to medium-rare. I do it all the time on my backyard grill. While my steak did have some charring, it wasn't Pittsburg style. Conclusions. Would we go back? Absolutely if for nothing else to get that crispy calamari. Would I order the steak again? Not without getting some assurances that I get a Rib Eye and they know how to cook it Pittsburg style. I guess, in the end, this has all the potential to be a high-end steakhouse, for our visit I felt they didn't meet that expectation.
