I went to Texas Roadhouse in Bloomington while visiting wifes family. The highlight of my visit was definitely the steak, which was cooked well and packed with flavor. The baked potato was also excellenthot, fresh, and the perfect complement to the meal. The restaurant had a lively atmosphere, and the staff were friendly and attentive throughout the visit. Service was efficient, and my food arrived promptly despite the restaurant being busy. Kids enjoyed all the free rolls! Overall, I had a great dining experience. Came here on a Saturday about 4 pm and it was already busy! The wait wasn't exceptionally long and moved quickly. Our waiter was friendly and took our drink and food order fairly quickly. The food is good. I especially enjoyed my baked sweet potato and their rolls with cinnamon butter are always yummy. The restaurant is decorated just like all other Texas Roadhouse restaurants with a lot of indoor seating. read more

I recently visited this restaurant with work colleagues this week. 2 of our party of 3 were sat right away after I checked in using the app. We ordered drinks and snacked on fresh bread while waiting for our 3rd person. We did get carded for our drinks. 2 of us had prime rib. Mine was medium rare with Mac & cheese and broccoli and the other had a salad and loaded sweet potato. The Mac and cheese here is not the standard mac & cheese served at their other locations and it's nice a creamy. The cheese sauce is put over the noodles so you do have to mix it up. The broccoli looked frozen not fresh bright green. Our 3rd person had the herb chicken with green beans and loaded baked potato. She wasn't a fan of the green beans that had bacon and onions because they were a little sweet. Our server was very attentive checking on us throughout the meal and offering extra bread. Unfortunately the next morning my coworker that had the prime rib and salad told us she had gotten very sick. Not sure if it was related to eating her but it could have possibly been the salad greens since we both had the prime rib and I had no issues. I know there have been issues with romaine lately. I usually visit this location about once a month or every other month when I'm in town and I've never had an issue before so I wouldn't let this one concern scare you away. read more

One week after returning from a wonderful trip to the UK (and eating out frequently at English pubs and other fine dining), Gayle and I hopped on a plane to Indianapolis. We then drove down to Bloomington in preparation for the High School graduation of our oldest granddaughter. Arriving around dinner time, our first US dining experience in 3 weeks just happed to be this Texas Roadhouse. My Dad likes the one in Ames and I think its because it has a fun casual ambiance, the menu if broad, prices are reasonable, and portions are generous. Plus my parents always had a coupon. It was all that for me and Gayle as she enjoyed a "hand cut" steak and a salad, while my chicken Caesar salad was pretty darn good. A Martini for Gayle and a tall beer for me made for a nice relaxing end of a travel day. Service was efficient and friendly, albeit a little chatty. read more

Wait time to be seated was initially 40 minutes as a party of 8 (with 4 kids 4 and under), they changed it to an hour without informing us AND we were the ONLY ONES waiting for at LEAST 20 minutes, seeing dozens of people walk out and no one else walk in. After a bit over an hour of waiting outside, we went inside and there was no one waiting. 5 minutes of waiting inside we watched a party of 6 get seated immediately, as soon as they walked in. Our server came quickly. I ordered the grilled salmon -- chose the 5 oz. portion and it was plenty. I had salad and steamed broccoli for sides. Honestly, pretty good service as far as chains go. When we walked up to the host, we were ignored for several minutes. They said it was a twenty minute wait, but we only waited 10 minutes. Our server was excellent and on top of things ! My partner said his burger was definitely on top 5 category. My steak was delicious. And of course, their chili and rolls are one of my faves. My kids love this place so I love this place. It's pretty simple. They can't get enough of the rolls and sweet butter. They give 5 stars. They like getting Ranger meals which include chicken, steak or ribs & a side for $10. I like to get a glass of wine with the well-seasoned salmon, sweet potato, and green beans. I Enjoy they have the game machine the kids can play. The mixed vegetables (fresh it says) appear to just be warmed up in the microwave so I would highly recommend the butter corn or the very flavorful green beans instead. My kids also like the flavored lemonades. My husband gets steaks (shocking I know.) Decent beer & wine selection but I haven't tried the cocktails. When last I ate at Texas Roadhouse, I suffered. I was treated to underdone hamburgers and weird potato skins with slabs of american cheese draped on them. The underreaction of the server didn't make things better. That's how bad that trip was. I literally haven't been back. SO. After being gifted a couple of gift cards, we made a trip out to Texas Roadhouse. The menu has changed a bit, and I'm pretty sure they no longer have the awesome baked beans that they used to. They do seem to have a decent selection, but what you see isn't necessarily what you get. For example, google "herb roasted chicken". Looks good, doesn't it? That's not what theirs looks like. Theirs appears to be grilled chicken with an herb coating. I'm told it was good, but not as expected. The mashed potatoes were good too! Unfortunately, I didn't order those. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger and an appetizer of potato skins. The good news is that the potato skins appeared to be made the standard way. I took a bite. They were pretty good. I took another bite. Whoah! Salty seaoning! Heavy salty seasoning! Who does that to potato skins? They do. The same seasoning on the fries is on the potato skins. Yuck. And the fries... the fries were COVERED in the stuff. I'm pretty sure I felt my blood pressure shoot up 20 points just from the fries I ate. I ate very few. The burger was cooked properly. Yay! The bacon seemed to have that same salty seasoning. It's one of the first times in my life I have not polished off a burger. It simply doesn't happen. I love hamburgers like Joanie loves Chachi. I love bacon cheeseburgers even more! Not this one. HOWEVER - the server was awesome and did everything she could to make sure we had what we needed. The person who came by to ask us about our experience did not seem nearly as interested. I mentioned how overseasoned and salty everything was, and she didn't seem to care. Give me all the gift cards you want. I can't make myself go back there. I won't do it. I won't! This place has fallen a long way since their heyday. It used to be awesome. With Cheddar's so close, there's certainly a better place for a burger, and between O'Charley's and a few of the other options, you can do better and live to tell about it. read more

This was an excellent Texas Roadhouse location. We were looking for a restaurant close to our hotel and this turned out to be a great choice. We were seated promptly and Tanner, our server, introduced himself and brought our hot rolls and butter. He was quick to serve our drinks and kept us supplied with refills throughout our meal. My favorite appetizer is the rattlesnake bites, and they were served piping hot, full of melted cheese. The house side salad was fresh and crisp. I ordered grilled salmon and it was perfectly cooked. My loaded baked potato was delicious. My coworker ordered steak and he was very happy with his meal as well. Great food, excellent service. read more

I go to Texas Roadhouse often with my husband and it's generally delicious and amazing, but this review will highlight a different type of experience. I work in the hospital. We were running around and I was "tasking" meaning helping to clear out the crowd, passing medication, taking patients up to their rooms, anything and everything. It was a rough night. I was starving after only two hours of the 12.5 hour shift and someone was like "there's rolls and cinnamon butter!" And I was like "TEXAS ROADHOUSE ROLLS!?!?" and they were like "yeah!" And I was like absolutely yes, so I went and got one and my whole entire shift was exponentially better because of that roll. Then again at like 0300 I got another one and it still slapped because we didn't have time to sit and eat that night. Anyways that was two weeks ago. On Friday night I treated myself to a steak with a baked potato and chili. It was also amazing. My steak was the sirloin. The big sirloin because the smaller one isn't as delicious for some reason. I'm on GLP-1 meds so my appetite is small and you know what? I had to take it back to my room and eat it again for lunch the next day and it was all just as delicious. The service was impeccable. I wish Indiana would let us do adult drinks to go because in Florida I would always get a marg to go to enjoy at home after I safely hit my destination, but I get it. Not everyone is responsible. Service was also quite slow, and even though my party was placed "on deck" to be seated next, we saw several other parties be seated before us. I got a sirloin w/ loaded baked potato, friends got loaded fries, wings. All came out lukewarm at best. I took one bite of my completely cooked through "medium rare" steak and nearly blew chunks. I wasn't even sure what I put in my mouth at first...it had the consistency of ground beef encased in a rubber wrapper. It was so gross the inside was mushy and inedible. Something of which I've never seen in my life. I'm not sure if it was over tenderized or if it just simply wasn't beef but nonetheless--never again. Oh how the mighty have fallen. Been coming here for 3 years, but lately the place has really gone down hill. Here are some examples: 1. On my last 3 attempts of ordering a ribeye, they brought me undercooked steak 3/3. I ordered medium rare, but was brought steak 2 cooks under at least. (And I hate to send back steak). 2. 2 of the 3 times I ordered mushroom or onion toppers and it was forgot, so the server would have to go get them for us. 3. I was served ribs so burnt they were inedible. 4. The quality of the steaks anymore are poor. Super fatty and stringy. Sometimes so much so they are near impossible to cut. 5. Seasoning is hit and miss. Sometimes steak is so salty you can barely eat it, but the next time it's perfect. Same goes for those green beans. read more

This is actually a pretty decent spot for someone who doesn't eat steak! My favorite is the Country Veggie Platter - $9.99 for four sides plus their delicious rolls and cinnamon butter. We've been getting takeout here since Covid, and it's a reliable, tasted-like-home dinner option. My husband likes the pork chops -- two chops come with the meal, so that makes two dinners for him! Went back today. BIG MISTAKE. I did not even make it past the check in desk. The guy working it would not let me sit because my BF was 3 min away. I really needed a sweet tea to take some medicine. Texas Roadhouse is just like any other chain steakhouse you're used to, but with a slightly better atmosphere and WAY better bread! The rolls, frankly, are what keep us coming back (along with all you can eat peanuts of course!) - the steaks are standard fare for this type of place. . . . Outback, Roadhouse, Longhorn. . . very similar. In order, I think Longhorn has the best menu and taste, then Texas Roadhouse, then Outback. We usually go to Longhorn but in this circumstance we were on the other side of town. Basically that's how we decide between the two. Outback is a distant third for value as it's more expensive and slightly less interesting to us. On my 'pet peeve' scale, by the way - is there really a reason to ask me if I've been there before? I understand it the first month or two it was open, but at this point does ANYONE say no? What do I really need to understand about this place that differs from any other restaurant? Austin -- the food runner -- shamed my friends and I for getting kids meals as well as rolls. He then proceeded to tell us the calorie count and saying we got too much and compared what we ate to big mac sizes. Telling us 2 rolls is equivalent to a Big Mac -- which could've been a helpful statement if the rudeness and wrong information wasn't there. It's 3.6.
