We went to Red Lobster last Friday and both ordered crab legs. My crab legs were covered in some sort of garlic butter chunks. It was truly awful and made cracking them impossible. I needed lots of extra napkins to clean up my hands and the mess, but our waitress never came back to our table to check in. My husband paid an extra five dollars for Bairdi crab legs. The waitress had assured him it was supposed to be meatier and have a sweeter taste. Neither was the case. We have been returning customers for almost 2 decades. Not sure we will ever return. I was in the mood for fried clam strips again after my Red Lobster experience at the Columbus, IN location. I discovered this new favorite seafood item during that experience so I decided to try to replicate the meal. Usually that's not hard at the more upscale chain restaurants with regards to the food quality. The food quality is usually pretty consistent. Service might vary more from location to location but here in Bloomington, the service was excellent. Every time my server passed by me, he was checking out my table. I ordered the Choose Two option and selected the Fried Wild Caught Flounder and the Crispy Fried Clam Strips. My fish and clam strips were delicious as expected. I received two large fish fillets and a huge portion of clamp strips that equalled the size of the two large fish fillets. Fresh Steamed Broccoli was one of my sides. The florets were huge and good. My other side was the Cole Slaw. The portion was too big for me. A big bowl of it that looked like an entree instead of a side. I also ordered the Vanilla Bean Cheesecake without the new fresh strawberries topping. The crust is thick and very flavorful. The whipped cream topping is awesome. Their cheesecake is excellent. I love their dining rooms with the cherry wood tables and thick cushions in the booths. It is a classy feel with wide aisles so you don't feel crowded together with other diners. read more

I ordered at this Red Lobster for lunch, since I had a bad experience from another restaurant last night and wanted to eat. My husband and I shared a entree and ate a few of the cheese biscuits. I ordered the jumbo lump crabs, the walts shrimp, fried white fish, baked potato, with sour cream and butter. Also a dozen of biscuits. * I didn't receive the sour cream, butter, or Caesar salad. The salad is what I was going to eat and a crab cake. What a bomber. :-( Cons- no eating utensils, no napkins, no sour cream or butter for the baked potato, no Caesar salad, and lukewarm food. The fish and shrimp wasn't good at all. Pros- the crab cakes were delicious. That's it! I don't use the microwave, but today I had too, since I'm in a hotel and visiting Indiana. For a chain restaurant, this was quite a good lunch! You cannot go wrong with the cheddar biscuits, amiright? We did crab fest, and the crab legs weren't cooked the best but OK. The sauces were fine, but really -- butter or garlic butter are the best and all you need! The ambiance was poor due to the restaurant being aged... 30 plus years and nothing remodeled... the lobster tank had a couple of lobsters in it, they had been in there so long green algae had formed on them and the corners of the tank. I think they did something with their strawberry lemonade, because it was way sweeter than I remember it. The lobster mashed potatoes are always a must ! Delicious as usual. For my entree, I had the bar harbor lobster bake. For the price, I would have expected something - more. When all of the meat is gone, the pasta really doesn't have a flavor. I enjoyed my dinner, and what do you expect with a chain - but I had a gift card to use and a craving for lobster mashed potatoes. While the rest of the world is panicking because of the coronavirus, my team of healthcare workers really wanted Red Lobster for lunch. We were on a time crunch since we only get an hour for our lunch break. A group of us headed to the restaurant in order to get seats and order before the rest of us arrived. The group of ladies I was with all commented that I needed to give Red Lobster a five-star rating because of how accommodating they were. I agreed. We were shown to our seats immediately, and the drinks were already there when I arrived. I arrived with the later group so by the time I got there someone had already placed my order and I had a drink sitting in front of me. One of the managers even came back and thanked us for doing what we do amid this whole coronavirus panic. This is the chain restaurant so the food is pretty standard every time I come. And there were no surprises. However, the server did accidentally fill one of my coworker's drink with water when she got Sprite. Am I really giving a Red Lobster 4 stars? Yes, yes I am. I have not been to a Red Lobster in at least 15 years. I ended up here for a Saturday lunch with a large group, so it wasn't my pick but I'm glad we came here. First, I have to commend the servers, Leah and I forget the other girl's name (sorry!) They handled our group of almost 20 like pros: drinks were always filled and they came around to check on us but weren't overbearing. Onto the food: *Cheddar Bay Biscuits - do I need to say anymore here? just eat 'em. They're not as great at room temp so eat them while they're hot. I had 3.5. No shame!! *Lobster and Langostino Pizza (It's our signature crispy thin crust topped with tender chunks of Maine and langostino lobster, melted mozzarella, fresh tomatoes and sweet basil.) - The langostino - was a little fishy. The pizza overall leaned sweet. wouldn't order it again. *Lobster & Shrimp Cocktail (~$14): This was on the manager's specials menu. I wasn't too hungry so this was a good portion with 4 jumbo shrimp and "4" lobster pieces. It tasted fresh as a RL could be and wasn't too salty. Will I be back? First and foremost, let's remember - this is a RED LOBSTER. And it's located in the heartland. We aren't setting the bar very high when it comes to fresh seafood. If you want it fresh, find a place with an ocean! Generally, this Red Lobster is above par, with great service and an extremely friendly staff. Again, you aren't going here for fresh oysters and the like. BUT if you'd in the midwest and have a hankerin' for some seafood, it will get the job done. Okay you all, I am going to get right down to it. I don't know about Red Lobster. The last time I ate at a Red Lobster my Aunt threw an adult tantrum about spilled water, and I left mid-meal. Like, I had better company this time, and it's a totally different location, but somehow this place still feels like an appropriate place to have an adult tantrum? I don't know. I can't really explain it. I can just imagine a fussy, dystopian reality where I visit a Red Lobster and whine all about the food and service, my cheeks stuffed full of multiple cheese biscuits probably. At least one crying baby somewhere in the room. The lights are dim, yet somehow intensely focused. Crumbs everywhere. Some royalty-free soft rock plays just loud enough to noticed, but not understood. Tingle of pain behind my eyes. Red lobsters gathered from an ocean thousands of miles away are killed and cooked in the next room. And somehow, a scene similar to this, yet slightly different, plays simultaneously at every one of Red Lobster's 150+ locations across the United States. I got rainbow trout this time, though! It was the wood-fired grill preparation, which was okay I thought? Kind of tasted like a grilled fish. It's a grilled fish, guys! Maybe I ate it wrong. I didn't eat the skin, because I thought that kind of sounded like it could be an ingredient in a witch's brew (Skin of Trout). Just your classic half of a fish really. Your classic fourteen dollar half of a fish! Holy heck, the prices here were pretty bad. My half fish and a drink ended up running me around $25. The sides were like a small serving of steamed broccoli and some WiiIILLllddDD rice pilaf. The drink was fancy. It was a "Lobster Punch", which is also the name of my Special Attack. My friend got some kind of crazy Fish Feast that was like $35 at the end of the ride. Your prices are killing us, Lob. I have foregone at least one other Yelp review while my wallet recovered from this experience. Put off buying groceries for a week, hah. Server was friendly. She put up with my dumb jokes and maybe even enjoyed them TOO much? She was a great server, gave us a lot of recommendations. I think her name was like Shelly, or uh, Sheila, Sue maybe? Shelly is a good Lobster Name, so we'll go with that. The manager asked us how our meal was and he did not understand my jokes at all. Shelly was way more chill than the manager; give that lady a raise! Fun times here, though. The interior looks like an Applebee's but maybe if one of the Applebee's managers recently won an Ebay auction for some bulk nautical decor and needed a place to store it for a few days. Like, really, it is a token nautical theme. Alright, here's the moral. So, the restaurant is located just across from a dirty motel, and the window at our table was facing the motel. I ended up making a jerk of myself when I commented on the appearance of a lady outside the motel. The location of this little gem is perfect...just off campus, right in front of a Travelodge Motel, and near a mall...it is easy to get to for both students and the city peeps. Went on Good Friday looking for some nice seafood and found it here. One of our party had the lobster stuffed mushrooms (mmm...that was mine); another in our party had the shrimp linguini alfredo (very nice...didn't leave a morsel); and the last in our party had the create appetizer of calamari, cheese sticks, and fried clams (large portion and pretty good...this was the weakest offering being that it was all fried food). All in all this was a nice stop. I try not to review a lot of the national chains, but this one deserved the shout out. The nicest thing here was the wait staff...they were uniformly clean, competent, and chipper. Our waiter was Asser and he was a five star guy. We'll be back. read more

Birthday dinner ruined - almost. Ordered RARE steak - received a medium-well steak. Fried fish was cold. Sent the steak back. A properly cooked steak arrived 20 minutes later. By the time freshly cooked fish was delivered - my dining companions had finished their meals. I have visited this location a few occasions and always enjoyed the food and service. While some of the prices are maybe higher than you'd expect I feel that in most cases it's reasonably priced for what you get. This establishment, on my visits, is always clean and orderly. The food here was good after I reheated it at home. It obviously was ready we'll before the pick up time. The main issue is pulling up to Curbside and having to call the phone number which is at Darden headquarters in Orlando. After letting it ring for over 3 minutes with no one picking up the call, I was forced to go inside. Because you are calling Orlando the person inside had no idea I along with another car were in the spots outside waiting to talk to someone and letting them know we were here. Please fix this and have the calls go to the person inside who could quickly bring out the orders so the food stayed hot! read more

When we showed up, they acted surprised that a big party came in, when my aunt had called two different times to give them a heads up. They were not prepared when we arrived. The restaurant is not busy at this time period. We sat down and ordered drinks and appetizer. Drinks took 15+ minutes and the appetizers took more than 45+ minutes. Our waitress was not active with our table. She was constantly walking around paying attention to other tables or talking to coworkers. We had to constantly keep asking for drinks and we asked about the appetizer, our waitress responded, "oh it will be up in just a minute." Well it never showed up, we were starting to get angry. We were tired of waiting and finally went to talk to a manager. We ended up leaving. Excellent service! My husband surprised me with dinner out tonight and chose Red Lobster. We beat the dinner crowd but I'd imagine the service here is always good. This definitely isn't the best Red Lobster location, but it isn't bad either. I only really go for the crab fest Crab legs deals. My experience here is always just alright. Service is mediocre and drinks and appetizers just aren't worth the cost. On my most recent trip, I got the Crab fest "Dueling Crab Legs" special. This featured a rack of Snow crab legs as well as a rack of Dungeness crab legs. Both were delicious! Crab legs don't take much skill to cook well, though, so this doesn't speak much to their kitchen. We also got the crab dip appetizer and it was... Gross? Definitely not good. Service was okay, though our waiter was little bit pushy when it came to ordering extras. He definitely felt like a salesman and not a service provider. Red Lobster had American naval alphabet flags that spelled words like "fresh" and "sea." However, the food we got must have been caught in a sea of oil. I paid $10 for a bowl of oil with a side of stuffed mushroom. I then got a $25 entre and what came out was a disgrace to the fish that were cooked. I got 4 paper thin slices of flounder that looked like they had been triple fried and dunked in oil. They managed to mess up shrimp which my 2 year old nephew with the cooking skills of a wet pool noodle couldn't even do. I could have got better food from KFC across the street for a fraction of the price. Red Lobster is a pathetic excuse for a sea food restaurant. They didn't even have lobster rolls.
