First, he arranged to have a temporary gutter hung over our back door within hours of learning that we had water leaking into our kitchen - caused by a heavy downpour from an unexpected storm that passed through North Texas, the night after his gutter team removed our gutters & downspouts (in preparation for the roof replacement the following Monday). Unbeknownst to us, there was a small space between our backdoor and the frame. Second, he had a section of the new roofing tiles taken down and replaced, after I noticed that the pattern of the roof was not random, giving it a curved ladder appearance. Frankly, it was refreshing to be HEARD. My husband and I highly recommend Billy Harris Roofing. Their entire team was first-rate, and they cleaned up the roofing nails and debris better than others. We had an outside team run a magnetic sweeper across our yard after our roof was replaced. This team - who has swept many yards in our neighborhood after the new roofs were installed - had a hard time finding any nails. Indeed, this team told us that our yard had the fewest nails yet. The site was left messy, with leftover concrete and rocks. Two months post-installation, the porch developed deep cracks. I reached out via text 42 times and called repeatedly between January and March; he only showed up once and has since disappeared. Very disappointing experience. Proceed with caution.

First - those who know me will tell you I am a stickler for details. I thoroughly vet vendors and merchants, and am very frank with my reviews. I sent Salcido's Concrete Works the HOA-approved specs of the patio we wanted - extend the existing builder-installed patio, and span the back of the house (prep for pergola some day). While my measurements were close, Salcido double checked and remeasured to ensure accuracy. We had some bidders tell us rebar was not needed. But I know better given the rocky clay we have. SCW included rebar in their build. Their quote was very reasonable, and they stayed in our budget (even when my husband tried to change mid-stream and upgrade the rocks! Lucy and I worked it out). The crew showed up on time, got to work, cleaned up after themselves. They were polite, professional. We had a cooler full of water and gatorade for them. They had their own refreshments (didn't expect any from us) but appreciated and accepted our offer. Face it - it is hot and hard physical labor. When they arrived, they checked the yard irrigation to ensure what needed to be moved or capped. We opted NOT to cap the ones closest to the house so that the foundation can be watered. They prepared the base, set the frame, installed rebar, poured concrete - all in one day. Then filled in the open areas with road gravel as I requested. I did this to allow for easy install of posts for the pergola we want some day. The patio is sloped properly, and at least 4 inch thick. I posted two pictures. One shows our temporary fence (chicken wire) we put up to keep our 3 large dogs (doberman, mastiff, bull terrier) off while it cured. Our kids home from college were surprised and impressed. We had this company pour two slabs in our backyard last week and they left our front and backyard a…read moremess which we complained about and they had no professional response. Additionally the slab was poured over a drainage path and they didn't recommend laying a drainage PVC pipe which we were unfamiliar with but other companies our neighbors used all did. When we brought to water puddling to their attention we were told it wasn't their responsibility and that they would have charged more for it which means they knew it was necessary.

The builder failed to perform basic workmanship to prevent rapid deterioration such as sealing and caulking the door appropriately. Mike even found mold in the door. I had water damage from the kitchen sink to the cabinet underneath and also needed to replace the faucet. I did a search and communicated with a few companies, sent pictures, and a few came onsite for quotes. Mike was the ONLY contractor that came in, put shoe covers on, got down, and actually looked and checked out my pipes and cabinet flooring! Seriously, he was able to see that some of the rings and pipes had been installed backward, and he righted those, just did it!! He didn't try to get me to replace my entire kitchen, nor did he just open the cabinet and say he'd leave and send me a quote later. He explained what he would do, materials needed, time to do it, and worked with my schedule to allow time for me to get the parts I wanted. Day of service, he texted to confirm arrival time, showed up, and got to work! There was an unexpected challenge where the builder welded a metal piece improperly to the sink that wasn't accounted for, and even with that, MHI remained fair when I know other companies would have taken advantage in that situation. He gave me a reasonable quote for putting up the Christmas lights and we agreed. He stated at that time that the price we paid included taking down the Christmas lights in early January. When the lights were hung we had a couple issues, I wanted alternating red and white, he just put up just one color. Also I had wanted the garage outlined and that piece was missed. Ultimately, the job was made right and I paid in check when the job was complete. I've texted him on Jan 10 no response. Texted him on Jan 14 and he replied saying the crew would be there on Friday. Never showed. I texted again on Jan 24. He replied the next day saying his brother had passed. It is obvious to me that Matt's family suffered a horrible tragedy and was not in a place to respond. I can certainly empathize but wish there was more communication to just let me know the expectation beyond a "you'll hear from me when you hear from me" type response. Again, I'm sure I was the last thing on his mind. Matt has also offered to reimburse me for the added cost to take down the lights which I will take him up on.
