Caulking job to seal in area between marble fireplace, wall, and new molding.
    Rachel P.

While I give props to Kena Galvan for working hard to get our insurance company to provide us with a better settlement after the 2021 Electric Grid failure, that's about the only positive thing I'll say about Texas Made. I do believe Kena has good intentions, but the other senior partner, Ryan Mitchell, cannot deliver. He just does not have the knowledge, eye for detail, or temperament to do interior home remodeling. Cutting corners when you don't know how to fix something is not going to make the customer happy, and refusing to fix it in the most immature way possible is not becoming for a company just getting started. After Texas Made occupied our home for four weeks, as the customer, you'd expect the contractor to be mostly finished, especially when they sent the 2nd invoice a week into the project saying they were 50% done. We should have known there would be problems when Ryan and his crew did not bother to put up dust barriers to protect parts of the house not being worked on, such as the kitchen and second floor. We are still cleaning up dust and debris left behind in those areas, as well as areas their cleanup crew missed before we moved back in. Generally, though, while they were doing the bulk of the work, if we saw problems, or had issues, they were quick to address them. When there was a misunderstanding due to lack of note taking on their part during the walkthrough, causing them to purchase the wrong molding, they made it right. Up until after we moved in, we were okay with the work. It was after that the problems really began. Once we did move back in, Kena told us that they have just a few things to finish up and would be back the next week to do so. They did not return for 24 days, giving us plenty of time to find things that needed to be either corrected or completed, and creating our punch list. Of course, sickness cannot be helped. Whatever else they had going on, like other jobs or travel, probably could be helped. When they finally did return, they actually worked a total of 3 1/2 hours over two days, with the rest of the time spent by Ryan throwing tantrums, screaming things like "don't give a f#$k what the customer wants." This really does not give customers confidence that you will do a good job on any work from there on out. Kena tried, but did not succeed in putting the blame on us for giving our punch list too early, as if that would be a reasonable excuse for tantrum throwing by a grown man. The second day Ryan and his crew were only on the premises 40 minutes before walking off the job. Ryan kept getting calls about a fence installation, so evidently he was eager to move on to the next job. He ended up walking off the job after threatening to have my elderly mother removed from the home because she dared ask a question of Kena and Oscar, the painter. Before leaving, Kena asked that I call her to set up a time for completion, but she never returned my call, responded to my email several weeks later asking to dissolve the contract, and has essentially ghosted me. If anything, I hope our job was a learning experience for them. Hiring good sub contractors to do things you are not specialists in (like stairs, flooring, painting, and drywall repair) is a good thing. It may cut into the business profit, but at least you do not ruin your budding reputation as a company who is "building relationships" with "quality construction." Stair treads popping off as you go down them because they were incorrectly installed is not fun, despite the surreal feeling you may have as you fall down them. In one of his tantrums, Ryan stated that he did not care if he ever did any work for us again. Don't worry, Ryan. You'll never get that call.

What initially created the need for the call was a gas fireplace that would not ignite I had previously tried ChatGPT, called a chimney sweep company, and even called the previous owner of my house, all to no avail. Within a few minutes of of arriving, Jordan was able to locate the hidden shut off for the gas fireplace and get it working pretty promptly. While here, he was able to notice a couple of other things that needed attention. My tankless water heater had been installed incorrectly by the previous plumber, and the technicians from Hukill's were able to manage that. And also, when it came to a clogged sink in our master bathroom, they were able to address that as well. By the end of our time together I had heard some good stories from Jordan, I was able to practice my French with Joseph and most importantly had a lot of small annoyances cleared up (literally) leaving my home in better functioning order than when they arrived. Today Jordan and Chase did the work on my kitchen sink. I was very pleased with their work and with the service.

My gutters have been having rain runoff since installed...shouldn't gutters resolve that?!? I called Trent to discuss getting new gutters. He came over to give me a quote and suggested I didn't even need new gutters but offered an easy solution to my problem! Crazy right!? He didn't even try to sell me anything!
