Grasshopper Inn - Lounge / Dining Area

Grasshopper Inn

(9 reviews)

I had the most lovely stay at the Grasshopper Inn a few weekends ago. I was in town for the Fall…read morefestival and stayed here Thursday night into Friday. The man at the front desk was very helpful in teaching me how to use their keyless access. A part of me didn't like that there was no front desk attendant at all hours of the night for safety reasons, but then I also felt like I had the entire place to myself, which was also cool. Especially when I used their vending machine to get Ben and Jerry's ice cream at midnight. Come on, ice cream in a vending machine? A dream. I had the room in the very front of the inn on the ground floor. I didn't love this at first. There are windows everywhere and the view is the street. Anyone can see you in your room so the first thing I did when I got in was to shut the blinds, which was a bummer because beautiful light was coming in, the sun was setting, but I certainly didn't need anyone driving by or walking by knowing I had a room there and what I was doing inside! The room itself was fabulous. Enormous bathroom with a large vanity and incredible shower. Kitchenette with glassware, a sink, a bar, fridge, no freezer portion in the fridge however. The entry way of the room was beautiful, round table with chairs, a couch, coffee table and television. It would have been nice to have the television in my room to fall asleep to but I fell asleep on the couch instead. The bed had an armoire and it was very comfortable. There was a window in my bedroom overlooking Adirondack chairs with beautiful flowers. Attention to detail was apparent everywhere you looked. I had a front porch with a door, now even though it looked directly out onto the street, I enjoyed a cup of coffee out here first this in the morning and it was really just lovely and relaxing. They have parking spots in a private lot in the back. Check out is at 10, which is quite earlier, 11 would have been much more accommodating but it is what it is! I walked into town for dinner, it was a bit of a walk but doable and great exercise. It was set away from the hustle and bustle of town, which I liked. The breakfast in the morning left something to be desired, wasn't a fan of the coffee and it didn't seem like they had a ton of options to choose from. Breakfast is complimentary and they had such a quaint and beautiful dining area. Despite some of the things I didn't love about this place, I would absolutely stay here again and again and again. The man at the front desk also gave me recommendations for restaurants and bars to check out, he even gave me a map to hold onto. This seemed like the nicest inn I passed while in Ogunquit. A part of me didn't want to write this review in fear everyone would find out about this gem but the place deserves to be recognized. Highly recommend.

My wife and I stayed at the Grasshopper Inn for the first time this past week. We had passed…read morethrough Ogunquit in mid-July and stopped by to check it out. We were very impressed by the cleanliness, room sizes, location, parking, lobby, etc. We were so impressed that I made a 2-night reservation for this past week. We LOVED it! We frequently vacation in Ogunquit (and Kennebunkport & York) and this is our favorite hotel now. We'll be back next summer! The day we checked in, we were starting to bring our bags up to our room when a nice man who was filling up the vending machine volunteered to help us with our bags. Well, he insisted. LOL. We thanked him and he said he wouldn't accept a tip. Well, later in the day we found out that he was the OWNER! Yep, the owner helped us with our luggage. And he was so nice. That was a lasting first impression. We went into our room and were blown away by how wonderful it smelled, the very tall ceilings, the beautiful room treatments, etc. We were so impressed. Our room had a nice outside terrace with two chairs and a table where we could relax and people watch. The manager, Mark, was awesome. Very professional, very friendly, very helpful, and even sat with us one morning during breakfast. This hotel is phenomenal. There are only 7 rooms in the hotel and each has its own assigned covered parking spot. Breakfast is free, and includes homemade bread (ours was a delicious sour dough), homemade muffins, bagels, cereal, coffee, tea, egg dishes and waffles. There's no pool (not an issue for us), but the Ogunquit Beach is within walking distance. The location of the Grasshopper Inn is great, too. Across the street is an awesome breakfast restaurant called The Greenery. It's always busy there because it's always great. But the lighter breakfast at the Grasshopper Inn was fine for us. Downtown Ogunquit is about 4-5 blocks from the hotel. There, you'll find nice restaurants, shops, etc. We walked to a great restaurant for dinner called Pepper's Seafood. Best buttered lobster rolls I've ever had! The Ogunquit Beach is another 3 blocks away. So for the most part, we can walk to these places from our hotel and don't have to pay $35 to park in a lot near the beach. I could heap praise on the Grasshopper Inn forever, LOL, but I'll stop here. If you're looking for a GREAT hotel in Ogunquit, I highly recommend Grasshopper Inn.
