Reasonable price for servicing. They don't try to upsell service to get you to repair/replace something that is currently OK (but do tell you which parts will need replacing in the future). They also check recalls and for any warranty (sometimes Subaru extends warranties for some parts) to save you money if possible on repairs. read more

Had my 2021 Tesla Y 4 wheel alignment at patriot they told me it was something they do I had mine done in fall of 2024 to be ready for winter on my new set of tires being mounted in december. Had the new ones mounted then had them removed to put new wheels and tires on for the summer. Problem is the tire that I went there for because it wore out and went flat, the new one in the same location wore out in 4 months and is ruined, except now there are 2 tire ruined. ALIGNMENT $129. I now need another alignment, and two new tires estimate cost at least another $600. So much for planning ahead and paying to insure the problem was fixed. read more

After having an almost comically dreadful experience with the sales department at Pape Subaru in 2023 despite having purchased two new Subarus (for my husband) from them previously over the years, my husband and I went to Patriot. We traded in his Impreza for a new Crosstrek and Corey was our salesman. Both Corey and David Shoemaker were wonderful. Some issue arose with the Impreza while we were waiting for his new car to be delivered and Corey made sure everything went smoothly and honored the original trade offer. I was so impressed that a couple of weeks ago I traded in my 12 year old Buick (she was a great car!) for a 2025 Forester. Corey was my initial contact but he now works in Finance, so Matt was my sales guy. All went great and I was happy to see that David Shoemaker is now the GM which is well-deserved. David is there for any questions or concerns, and works collaboratively with your sales team to make sure you leave happy. That's how loyalty is built! read more

I just purchased a Subaru at the Patriot Subaru Dealership. I just wanted to say it was a pleasant experience. I've purchased about thirty personal vehicles over the past fifty years. The Staff at Patriot made this the best experience I've ever had purchasing a vehicle. My search for the Subaru model, color and features I wanted led me to Patriot. This purchase was going to be complicated because of the distance from my home central Mass. First contact was with Customer Service Management and I was told they could make it happen. The sales person sent videos of the car to me and attention to details made me feel confident to strongly consider this purchase. The Service Department made sure everything was perfect and followed up with phone calls. The coordination was great, to have the car delivered half way from my home. I met with a Product Specialist at delivery and he made sure to answer every question I had. He also made sure I was comfortable with the operation and all the features of the car. I arrived for my pre scheduled loaner & 3-4 hour 60K maintenance checkup at 10am to find no employees in the repair bay and cars blocking the bay entrances. I went inside (lights were on in the back offices) and had to call out before someone came out. I was told they had no power and only one phone so they couldn't notify repair customers to not come in. (The storm was the day before). Hard to imagine in this day and age that they have no backup plan in place to notify customers (cell phones? remote work? corporate subaru computer backup?). Especially considering I had received a confirmation email the day before and another the morning of my appt saying I was overdue for service (!) read more

January 3rd is a great day. It was my 5 year anniversary for my Cross Trek and my new Impreza sport. I was thinking about going to Patriot just to look at what was available and maybe what they might offer me for my CT. Mid way to Saco, I changed my mind and went to the mall area to buy supplies for the apartment. Then I received a call from Kayla, congratulating me on my 5th year anniversary. How weird was that, since I did not realize it had been 5 years. So, I took it as a sign and stopped by after my errands. Kayla was so pleasant and helpful. We looked at imprezas and test drove a nice model, but white. I liked the ride and the look, but not the color. They had black, but that was not appealing to me either. When she came back, she shared that they had a sport version in silver with a lot of bells and whistles and on a lease, would be cheaper than my current payment. I still had a year of payments on my other car, so why not. The process was a bit long, for all the paperwork, but they were so nice to say, bring the extra key tomorrow and all the other things, that I would need but not carry with me. I had an upsetting experience at the service department of Patriot Subaru, Portland Rd., Saco, Maine . I had an appt for an oil change. While checking in the service advisor informed me the extendeded warrantee was still in effect and had i had my 60,000 mi check up yet (i was at 63,000). I said no he asked if would i like that done today. I asked him the price he said "799", i said $7.99, he said "yes". I agreed, left, came back later received a bill of $799. I was shocked, speechless. He was the Service Advisor. I said you told me $7.99. He said "I was joking". At no time did i think that was a joke. He said it straight faced, no smile. I did not have the finances nor was i prepared to cover that expense. Obviously I paid. I called the service manager the next day to explain my experience.. I felt as though i was taken advantage of. I'm retired, on a fixed income and a women. Even though he said he wanted to make this right he dropped all communication with me. He did try negotiating but never return communication to follow up. Even though he said he'd be back to talk in a couple of days. Needless to say, i will never go back there. And that's where we bought our Subaru. read more

I went here for years for oil changes, tire rotations, and inspections. Anything else I would take to other mechanics, including Joe Troegner's in Biddeford (a very well-respected mechanic). They were great for years. But I went in for an inspection one year, and suddenly there was (supposedly) a bunch of issues with my car, which I was told would cost over $5k to fix. I noticed some of the "issues" quoted were problems I'd already had had fixed with another mechanic. When I mentioned that to them, I was told that work previously done (some of it in the past few months) was "shoddy" and "failing already," so it would have to be replaced. I was then informed "it may be best if you get another car." I took my car to another mechanic who said 3/4 of the "issues" Patriot Subaru quoted me for were nonexistant, and that mechanic fixed the remaining 1/4 of them for a fraction of what Patriot Subaru quoted me. That was TWO YEARS AGO, and none of those issues (many of which I was told would affect my car in months) have come to fruition. I am greatly dissapointed in Patriot Subaru. It is a shame, because I am sure plenty of great people worked there and they did good work for years. But I cannot trust them again. read more

I dealt with the Sales Manager at Patriot Subaru, David Shoemaker. It was the worst, and most screwed up, car buying experience I have ever had. Being 60 years old, I have purchased about 25 cars to give you a point of reference, and we have been driving Subaru Foresters since 1998. We ordered the car by phone, and sent a detailed email to Shoemaker to make sure he got it right. All we were doing was buying another car for the family. That's it. When we got down there to pick up the car, we were immediately asked about our trade. Our trade? What trade? We weren't trading anything in; we were just buying a car. The day before we were to pick up the car, Shomaker e-mails me and says "I forgot that I was on vacation, so I won't be there tomorrow." Fine, I am a big boy and can go buy a car. But, can you imagine that somebody "forgot they were on vacation?" We tow a small boat with our Forester, which requires a 2" hitch. I ordered the car with a 2" hitch. Shoemaker, the sales manager, did not know that Subaru does not sell a 2" hitch for the Forester (that it needs to be installed at a dealership or hitch store). So, he orders the car with a 1 1/4" hitch. When the car comes in, I look at the hitch and am like "this is never going to work." One of the mechanics said "bang the internal 1 1/4" out of the receiver and there will be a 2" housing left, which will work fine. The problem? The 1 1/4" hitch was welded in place on all 4 sides of the hitch. It was never, ever going to come out. So, I take a day off from work to get the hitch fixed. First they tell me 2 hours. Then they tell me they will need the car overnight and I'll have to come back the next day. Then, after 3 hours, they miraculously find the "right piece" and my car will be fixed "shortly." Ultimately they fixed the hitch but it was such a comedy of errors that I said that I think "we're done," and ask to be taken off their email distribution list. Last week, I got an unsolicited and unwelcome email from Shoemaker himself, wanting to know my thoughts about doing business with @patriotsubaru. So, I told him. And, no, it wasn't nice. Later on, this imbecile emails me AGAIN, telling me he "should have let me buy my Forester from a local dealer..." Like, this guy was thinking he had some magical power that directs people to buy cars, and where to buy them. He finished up with some wise ass comments, so I forwarded the nasty email to Subaru of America. (yes, he was stupid enough to write a nasty email from the dealership). Then I get another email from Brian Beattie, the GM of the dealership, saying they were handling the matter "internally" and that he didn't feel the need to apologize for Shoemaker's mistakes. I have yet to hear from the owner of the store, Adam Arens, and I doubt that I will. So, if you are in the market for a Subaru, I would avoid Patriot Subaru at all costs, unless you want to run into the kind of incompetence and rudeness that I found there. read more

Wildly unprofessional. Avoid this place. I went in this evening to buy an Outback, and was harassed by a sleazy sales rep (David Shoemaker... manager? seriously?) to trade in my current vehicle. I explained multiple times that I wasn't planning on selling my car just yet, but he was aggressive and relentless, and even threatened that they wouldn't sell me a vehicle unless I traded mine in. I was forced to walk out of the dealership instead of purchasing a car. I'd had good experiences with this place before - bought the last car from them and was ready to sign paperwork this time. But they've lost my business after the way they behaved, and destroyed any goodwill or loyalty they had built. There are other dealerships in the area that aren't as sleazy, shady, or aggressive. Just buy from those. UPDATE: I have reviewed the response from the dealership to this review, and it is simply factually inaccurate on multiple levels. First, I have not purchased any vehicle from any dealer in Maine except Patriot, so saying I have purchased from Pape or Evergreen is wrong. Second, the responder says I discussed terms for an Outback, but that is untrue. We never actually discussed terms for an Outback - I was unable to proceed farther in the discussion than Mr. Shoemaker's demand for my vehicle as a trade-in. I attempted multiple times to discuss the purchase of the Outback, but Mr. Shoemaker would not allow that conversation to continue. Third, I made it clear from the beginning of the interaction - including with the scheduler who booked the appointment - that I had no interest in trading in my Crosstrek. The original sales rep I met with pushed to offer me a number for the vehicle, and I relented and let him throw out an offer. I did express surprise at the low-ball, and when I did, the associate admitted "it might be low" and brought in Mr. Shoemaker. I reiterated multiple times that I did not want to sell my vehicle back to Patriot, and attempted to return to the discussion of purchasing a new vehicle. However, Mr. Shoemaker would not let the issue go and continued to hound me to resell the vehicle. I became increasingly emphatic in saying that I did not intend to trade it in as part of the transaction, and Mr. Shoemaker eventually threatened that if I were not trading in my vehicle, the dealership would not reserve a vehicle for me, because supply is tight and so they would need to prioritize sales to customers who were trading in vehicles. I was startled by this, and Mr. Shoemaker continued his aggressive pitch to purchase the vehicle that I had no intention of selling to Patriot. After this had gone on long enough, it became clear that Patriot was unwilling to continue with my request to purchase a vehicle, so I left. This was not a negotiation for my Crosstrek where I did not accept the terms offered -- this was a forceful, aggressive, harassing push to convince me to sell a vehicle which I had indicated multiple times I had no intention of selling. read more

A lifetime warranty! What an absolute load of crap! If it's too good to be true, you know what's gonna happen. When I purchased my Forester at Patriot, I had a good experience. With 101k on the odometer and a major mechanical issue, I found myself attempting to use the lifetime warranty that is famously offered by Patriot. While it's through a third party, Patriot uses this "perk" in their advertising and makes it a major selling point. I attempted to use it, only to find myself disqualified from the plan for failing to meet the stringent demands. Missing that oil change by less than ten miles was enough reason for the disqualification. Don't fall for the gimmick. Go to Pape for better service and people. read more

I am NEVER doing anything with Patriot Subaru ever again. The process between getting the loan and agreeing on a date to see the car was a shitshow in itself. Not only did I call a business manager to meet at a closer credit union to save me time and get everything out of the way right then and there just for it to go to voicemail, but the saleswoman claimed that they did in fact reach out to tell me, but neither me or my mother received ANY type of communication. Luckily, my mother just happened to call right before we headed down there from Raymond for her to drop the news. Extremely disappointed and disheartened as this was going to be my very first by myself car purchase and was very excited as I totaled my first car. Check Engine Light: This is a sign you should stop driving and have your car looked at by a mechanic as soon as possible. Use your best judgment on whether to call a tow truck or drive. Called Subaru. Could only get appt for 2 weeks away. Subaru Service Tech said I could keep driving till Appt. Few days later check engine light & flashing dashboard went away but Starter grinding intermittently. Software upgrade performed by Subaru. Same starter problem. Subaru again said it was ok to drive. They say said it Probably needed new starter but they didn't have any. (on backorder) Next day starter dead; car wouldn't start at all. It has to be towed. read more

Called Patriot Subaru of Saco Maine about a car for sale on their website. Josh, the sales person I spoke with had trouble finding the car in their system, but then found it and said that it was ordered by someone but was not for sale. He said there are other similar cars available in their system and I noted that they were all a higher price. The other cars started over $40K and the "non available" car was $37K. I asked if they could match the price of the "non available" car and he said, it depends on how nice I sounded. I stopped and said, wait, it depends on how nice I sound? He said yes. I thanked him and hung up. Ask yourself, if I was a man, would Josh have said it depends on how nice I sound? Misogyny is alive and well at Patriot Subaru of Saco Maine. They lost me. I had been taking the trusty Outback to them every 6 months for oil changes and tire rotations because that keeps the power train warranty going. Last time I went back, they asked me what I wanted done and as always I said "whatever keeps the warranty going." They changed the cabin air filter and told be I had to do that for the power train warranty. I was truly money for nothing. Sometimes I'd only drive two or three thousand miles in six months and I have no idea why they found it necessary to rotate the tires, but the cabin air filter was just too ridiculous. The Outback is a nice enough car and other than the battery dying when it was two years old, it's been reliable. And the sales guy was nicer than most too. But once service starts playing games, I'm done. I hope to keep the car for years and I don't expect to visit Patriot Subaru ever again because I really don't want to find out what crazy thing they're going to do next. read more

Purchased a used 2015 Subaru Forester with 60,000 miles from them for over $20,000 in 2018. Fast forward to now, the car has 120,000 miles and the CVT transmission failed. We current owe a large some on the vehicle. In July 2017 subaru informed current owners of issues with cvt failures and that they would be increasing the "warranty" on them from 6 years 60,000 miles to 10 years 100,000 miles. If a vehicle was outside of 10 years or 100,000 miles were given until july 31st 2018. We purchased the car a couple months later. At no time during the purchase process did Patriot Subaru inform us of the information above. They also did not want to come down on the price of the vehicle because it was suppose to be a clean, safe, reliable car for many years. In researching further, the CVT failure issue can come about with NO WARNING, and could also cause surging, increases or decreases in speed, complete power loss, etc. The CVT transmission design is flawed and no system was created to provide a warning the way a check engine light or brake failure do. Patriot Subaru knew this and purposely withheld that information. My most recent interaction with them i was told they wouldn't do anything because i didn't purchased extended warranties. Perhaps if they had been ethical and informed me of the issues experienced by others with Subaru CVT i would have, or they might have mentioned things i could watch out for, or better preventative actions. This vehicle could have literally killed my family, and so far Patriot subaru wants to place the blame on me and Subaru America. Both Patriot Subaru and Subaru America are culpable in their negligence and purposely withholding information. They owe it to us in every way to make the situation right. They remind me of the old Cigarette companies who knew the product was harmful and didnt let people know so they could make more money. read more

Let me start by explaining, I haven't negotiated a new car deal in a dealership in 24 years. In that time, I purchased 6 cars, all through the internet. We visited Patriot Subaru with the intent to only test drive the Outback and the Forester. My wife's and my first impression were that we appreciated that the staff at Patriot Subaru was taking the social distancing and face mask seriously. Katherine Riley made the appointment for us and came to greet us when we arrived. Katherine was very responsive in calling me back to make the appointment and ask pertinent questions for what we were looking for. Mike Noonan, was the customer service rep who quickly got keys and plates for both the Outback and the Forester. He spent a few minutes with us, looking over both cares, pointing out the differences and answering questions. When the test drive was over, Mike was the opposite of pushy. We allowed him to earn our business, and he came back with a fair evaluation for our trade in. When I expressed concern over the total deal, I gave him a range as to what I thought it needed to be. I was fully expecting him to come back with the bottom number and was pleasantly surprised when he came back with the upper number. He was very helpful in getting our new car ready for us and made an appointment to go over the new car when we come back with the title to pick up our registration. Shawn Lajeunesse, was the business manager who took care of the purchasing paperwork. He was very friendly, accommodating, and got us through the paperwork quickly. He didn't apply any pressure when we turned down the added insurance. My wife and I appreciated that he wiped down his office before we came in. Overall this was the best experience we have had in a car dealership. Never have I been able to take the new car with me within the time it took us to do the paperwork. I've purchased 5 Toyotas in the past 24 years, and I don't have a relationship with any of the 4 dealerships I purchased them from. I would buy another car from Patriot Subaru, and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to buy a car today. read more

I am so disappointed, I tried not writing this review. I have owned several Subarus in my life....all purchased new, from different dealerships. This is my 1st....& last with Patriot in Saco. We bought a new Outback in April 2018. The sale and delivery was fast.....all happened in the same day. I wanted to go back the next day, having time to empty my trade-in and they have time to PROPERLY prep our NEW CAR! In all the craziness, we left with our new Outback. It wasn't until later in the week, when I took it to the local car wash to hand spray rinse off the surface dirt from tailgate, the dealership decal was literally lifting off! As I went around to rinse the wheels, they had a sticky film that all the road surface dirt stuck to. WHAT!!?? It had been brought to my attention by someone else who experienced the same ill-prepped Subaru, that the coating on the wheels has to removed before you receive delivery of the car!!! After two different attempts to try and have this situation resolved at MY convenience, I switched to a different Subaru dealer! I told Patriot I lived an hour and a half a way andwanted to incorporate my first service with this wheel situation resolved. NOPE! "We can't do that on the same day"..... Well, I know dealerships make most of their $$$$ from the service department.......not from this girl!!! Should have stuck to Volvo!! read more

Never have I ever been so disappointed with a company. Patriot Subaru will never get anymore of my business. For reference, this was going to be my very first car purchase on my own. They were selling a 2017 Subaru Outback with relatively low miles and fell in love instantly. I had been speaking to a couple people about it back and forth and was transferred to another woman due to the first guy "going on vacation". I decided to finance through my credit union because I'd be getting a way better rate and would be paying a lot less a month. They tried convincing me to finance with them but I declined every time, and from then on things felt off from there. We made plans to meet at one of the nearest Evergreen credit union locations (my credit union) so I could sign all the papers and get the bank check right then and there. That following morning just before we were going to head down from Raymond, my mom called them and they said they already sold it. The woman claimed that they sent me a voicemail, but neither my mom or I received one. On top of that, I called the business manager and it went to voicemail and I never got a call back and that was three whole days ago even though they claimed they did. Again, I will never do anything with Patriot as they are shady and careless. On the bright side, I went to Evergreen Subaru instead and ended up with a brand new 2024 Subaru Forester with an amazing deal and they were much more willing to work with my budget than Patriot, very much recommend them! read more

I went to have my 30,000 mile multipoint inspection done which included checking my breaks, rotors, and getting an alignment done after reporting grinding sounds. Upon picking up my vehicle I still heard the same grinding sounds and realized that the alignment was never done so I went back in and spoke to someone who claimed that an alignment was done on my Vehicle and after I went back the next morning to speak to the manger he was being unprofessional and rude and claiming that an alignment was done but yet could not provide any proof of anything being done that I had asked him to look at the cameras which he did and saw that an alignment wasn't done because the machine that does them wasn't functioning correctly. so they pretty much charged me money for services that they did not provide me and when I had asked them for some kind of compensation such as a partial refund they said no refunds.... I will not be taking my vehicles here to get serviced ever again it was a complete ripoff and they charge you money to do nothing it was an all around Horrible Experience. read more

I purchased a new WRX from this dealership 11/2022 along with a prepaid service contract. I traded the WRX to another dealer for a RAM in April of 2023. I went to Patriot Subaru to cancel the service contract and receive a prorated refund early / mid April 2023. I had paid for the contract out of pocket as opposed to financing (if memory serves me right). Regardless, the dealer was supposed to send ME a check and sent it to Chase Bank instead. Chase never received a check. I have been trying to get Patriot Subaru to cancel the original check and issue me a new one for the past 7 months to no avail. I've been told that once Chase send the check back to them, they'll issue me a new check. I don't understand why they can't stop payment on the check that was sent to the bank in error. The refund was in the ball park of either $1,100 or 1,300. I have been to the dealer in person (spoke to Dylan at time of canceling the plan and again a couple months later in person(. I was in contact with Steve at the beginning but he has since left the dealer. I've spoken with Teryn. I'm told "I'll look into this" and NEVER get a return call. I have voicemail saved from Steve back in May 2023 and email from the PROCARMA support team. I can provide telephone records of my calls to the dealer as well. Today, I filed complains with the BBB and consumer advocate devision of Maine Attorney General's office. read more
