I brought my Tesla to Moody's Collision for repairs, and when I picked it up, the first thing I noticed was a large crack in the glass roof that absolutely wasn't there when I dropped it off. I immediately called the garage the same day and took photos to document the damage. Here's the kicker: two separate adjusters confirmed there was no roof damage noted on the intake forms when the car arrived. Even Moody's own intake documentation doesn't mention a crack. That should speak volumes--if the damage existed when I brought the car in, it would've been documented. But it wasn't. When I spoke with "Chris," who handles Teslas at the shop, I explained that I didn't think I should be responsible for a deductible on damage clearly caused while the car was in their care. Instead of having a conversation, I was dismissed with a sarcastic "sounds about right," as if my concern wasn't worth his time, and I was just going this the money. It felt incredibly disrespectful. This isn't just about a cracked roof--it's about accountability. Accidents happen, but when a business won't even acknowledge the possibility that they caused damage while your car is in their hands, that's a serious red flag. I'm now forced to pursue legal options to recover the cost of the damage. Moody's Collision Centers - Deep roof crack - Body Shops Near Me - Portland, Maine

I brought my car to Moody's Collision in Augusta to have both the front and rear bumpers repaired. The rear bumper work was fine -- no complaints there. But the front bumper? An absolute letdown. According to the estimate, the front bumper was supposed to be removed, repaired, and fully painted. What I got instead was a spot repair. They only fixed the exact area I pointed out and painted just that section -- leaving cracked and damaged paint completely untouched. At no point did anyone call to clarify, ask if I wanted the additional visible damage addressed, or even explain that they weren't going to paint the full bumper like they said in the estimate. Apparently, unless you go over the car inch by inch with them and point out every single defect, they'll just ignore the rest -- even when it's right next to the repair. If I'm being told a bumper will be repaired and painted, I shouldn't have to babysit the process or fight to get what was promised. I expected professional, detail-oriented work -- what I got instead felt rushed and incomplete. This was a one-star experience. I regret bringing my vehicle here and would not recommend Moody's Augusta location to anyone. read more

After such a great experience, I went back to Moody's for a repair after my partner got into an accident in 2021. When I retrieved my car after repairs, the hood was off kilter in a very obvious way, my door did not line up with the shape of the car, and my wheels were not fixed as had been discussed with my partner when he took it in for an estimate. I was told I would be contacted. About a year later I finally contacted them after silence and made a plan to get things finally finished along with a few small things. After being told my car was ready, the wheels had not been fixed so, my car remained in the shop. Fine. A day or two later I got a call referring to me as "young lady" about my tires being bald. Given that they only had 20/25k miles on them that was absurd to me. I was told, also, that after the accident they had not checked or done the alignment which you would think would be pretty standard (especially after one on the freeway at about 70mph against the median). The reason I was given was that there was not enough damage to the wheels. Previously, someone hit my car while parked, a lot less serious, and I got an alignment for reference. I was told the wear on the tires was due to me not rotating my tires which I have records of. Then, I was told because my car wasn't pulling much that it couldn't be the alignment. It appears there was also collusion with the insurance appraiser due to the fact that he added it may be due to me having winter tires (I found this humorous because they're all weather tires that are rated for winter, not winter tires). I was also told because of the relatively even wear on my tires that have been rotated since, alignment could not be the issue. When I checked in with Paulin's they rebutted that they've seen even wear happen before in a situation of misalignment. When I asked if they would check the alignment, I was told that you can't check the alignment without getting one (not true, obviously). I, then, retrieved my car and had the alignment checked. Anyone could see that it was so off the only real conclusion that makes sense could be due to an accident of which my car has not been in since. You can see this in the supplemental photos. I then escalated the issue to Shawn Moody himself as I have connections through work. It was concluded that my tires had wear when I brought my car in. As you can see in the attached photos this is not true. I also have attached my tires now in a state that they should be nowhere near and had an alignment been done could've been avoided. Overall, I'm wildly disappointed by the dishonesty and being treated like an idiot "young lady" despite all of the evidence that I've gathered that they didn't repair my car correctly and as a direct result, my tires are now bald. My keyless entry also does not work still which you would think would be checked.. There's zero accountability, changing stories or reasons as to why this happened and they've told me to basically go off and deal with it. This is shocking especially since inadequate and unfair repairs are covered under Maine law with an implied warranty of good workmanship that very clearly did not occur. With the experience that I've had and am currently having, I personally would not trust that they're consistent and not cutting corners. I do believe they can do smaller jobs well, however. Update: I received a call from Shawn himself about everything that went on to make sure I was taken care of. He really is a stand-up guy, listened to my experience and is working to make sure this is avoided in the future. read more

My handicapped brother recently had a minor accident. (approx. $2K) His insurance company (The Hartford) said he should send photos of the damage for an estimate. He wanted to take it to the repair shop for an in person estimate. He was assured by both Moody's and the Hartford that was not necessary. BIG MISTAKE. The repair was not done completely. When Moody's and the Hartford were questioned why he didn't receive a complete repair he was told that Moody's felt some of the damage was a result of a different accident. They are wrong. I would urge anyone considering using the services at Moody's to make sure they get an in person estimate. read more

I was told my vehicle was ready to pick up. I arrived at the office and was provided my keys and paperwork. I went out to inspect the work on my vehicle. I noticed my bumper was not installed correctly. The gaps were considerably off, and the bumper was offset. In addition, the hood was raised on one side and not aligned with the side panel. I went to open my hood and immediately my hand was cut by the edge of the new bug deflector that was installed. Although the bug deflector was not the same one I had originally installed this was not as much as a deal as getting cut on my hand by the new bug deflector sharp edge. I went back into the office and spoke with Jim. We went out to look over the items. He explained he would need to have the truck back and I would need to come back. I did not hear back from the office and decided after two days I would call them. I spoke with Jim, and he said it was all ready. I went to the office to pick it up. I forgot to check the bug deflector for the sharp edge until later and it still have sharp edges. I was halfway home when the tire pressure sensor warning light came on the new tire that was installed. Then I noticed greasy dirty hand marks all over the inside sun shades and ceiling on both side. The exterior also had not been washed and had dirty hand marks all over it as well. The outside will wash off, but now I have a $40,000 vehicle that has grease and dirt on the inside upholstery. This prompted me to look at everything in more detail. My steering wheel horn portion is not set in its proper position and is sticking out on one side. It looks like someone used a pocket knife to remove it and gouged the bezel of the inlay trim as well. I drove the vehicle last night and notice the headlights are not aligned properly. The bolts holding my door were loose. All around poor workmanship. Obviously there is not oversight or quality control. These items could have been easily corrected and not passed along to the customer for them to deal with. I found the whole process frustrating and neglectful. read more

I backed into my garage door with my back door open. I was embarrassed and incredibly frustrated. I brought my beloved car to Moody's Collision Center in Portland ME expecting to have to claim the damage on my insurance as I thought it would cost over 1,000 to repair. Instead I was met by Chris who I believe is a service manager. He said he would have somebody look at it to see what they could do. In a few hours I received a call back from Chris saying they had fixed it at NO charge to me! I was thrilled and surprised. He spent 20 minutes on it and fixed the damage! Would not accept a dime. This is truly exceptional service and kindness. Phenomenal Business-My story: I was on my way to a kayaking weekend in Boothbay which was another 90 minutes away when my bike crashed through my rear window shattering glass everywhere. I frantically looked up nearby body shops and found Moody's. When I pulled up to the front office, An angel named Josh Paquette came out and stopped what he was doing to spend the next 75 minutes helping me remove the contents of my trunk. He vacuumed, air blew, and hosed down my items and the trunk to remove all the shards of glass. He then installed layers of crash wrap on my windshield. When I looked around their beautiful, building, I was struck by the cleanliness and professional body shop. All the while Josh was reassuring me that it would be safe to drive my vehicle and that he would remove all the glass. When he finished, he refused to accept payment and said he was happy to help. I insisted on paying him for his hour and he refused. I had to share this story because Moody's is an incredible business with super high integrity and they care about their customers. Brought my 3 yr old like new Mercedes in to repair right door panel that had been damaged. My car has a special and expensive paint color which is considered an option by Mercedes Benz, so I was worried about how this repair would turn out. Picked up the car a couple of days later...... you'd never know the car was ever damaged or repaired. I looked at the door panel from all angles, in the sun and shade, sideways and frontal. Perfect!! My front bumper's paint was chipping off and they were able to help me paint it back with the perfect color match, as well as having excellent customer service. They did everything on time; they told me that it was gonna be three days of service and it was exactly that, and when I asked for a rental car for those days my car was bring fixed they were able to provide me with one at ease without any issues. I walked into Moody's Collision for an estimate to replace the driver's side mirror which was torn off, wires and all, in a parking lot. I was driving by, recognized the name from somewhere but hadn't read reviews or received recommendations. The center is clean and welcoming. The staff is professional and courteous. I was seen right away. I explained that this was my "dog car" and felt no use for a new mirror. The representative quickly found me a used part. The estimate with labor was fair and reasonable. They were able to book the appointment for the following week. They couldn't have been more cordial. They arranged for all the work to be completed in a single day and even offered me a lift home after dropping off the car in the morning. I am so impressed with the results. The paint used on the mirror matches perfectly, the rewiring is flawless and this "dog car" was washed, vacuumed and cleaned to boot! I was asked if I was satisfied before making my final payment. With the receipt, I was given a written warranty on the work performed. I am so pleased to have found them. The staff, professionalism, skill and attention to detail is superb. I came in to get an estimate for some scratches on my car. After examining the car, I was told I'd have the estimate by noon that day. When I hadn't received it by the next day I called to follow up, and they said something had come up and I would get it no later than Monday. Over two weeks later and I am still waiting to receive that estimate. Poor business practice so would not recommend or go back. read more

I'm not used to getting superior service from anyone servicing my car, so this was a very welcome experience. Another driver backed into my door, and now it looks like it never happened. It took 10 days to schedule the service and then 4 days to do the repair, which I thought was a bit long but might be standard. Thankfully the other driver's insurance company paid for my rental. Also, while the car was in the shop the battery was drained and died. It wasn't a new battery, but it was working fine when I brought it in. They decided to cover the cost of a new battery since it happened during the repair, and I thought that was a really classy move. read more

I was involved in a minor accident and Moody's is one of Progressive's locally partnered repair centers. It's larger and roomier than most of the other repair shops I've seen around Portland, and the staff is wonderfully friendly both on the phone and in person. Our Jetta got rear-ended and Hanover Insurance suggested we take it to Moody's in Scarborough. After they looked at the damage I contacted them approximately twice per week either by email, phone or stopping by in person. The employee handling the claim assured me the parts had been ordered and he went to check on his computer whether they had arrived, which they had not. After about six weeks of inaction on Moody's side I took the car to ACME who provided me with an estimate and took care of everything with the insurance the same day. During the six weeks that Moody's was dealing with our vehicle they had neither prepared an estimate, nor had they ordered any parts. They had just plain lied about it all. read more

I posted a review last year about a car problem that I thought might need a collision repair. Moody's was able to snap a part back into place and didn't charge me anything. I thought this reflected very positively on the business and said so in my review. I've now had another similar situation where I was unsure whether a collision repair (something in the wheel well) was needed or not. Once again, Moody's looked at it, was able to snap the errant part back into place, and didn't charge me anything. This was a different location on the car from last year's repair but once again I was extremely pleased with their assistance. Although I continue to hope that I won't need a collision repair anytime in the future, I would head straight to Moody's if I did. read more

So we were on our merry way to Maine from Ohio on vacation last summer. Unfortunately, while on I-86 in New York, I didn't realize a deer was trying to pass into my lane. (The jerk didn't have his blinker on!) We managed to lug the mangled heap up to Portland, where we immediately started to look for collision centers. Enter: the fine staff at Moody's on Presumpscot. They took my poor, beaten Acura in without an appointment, banged out the fender, zip-tied the lights as best they could, and sent me along my way... FREE OF CHARGE! They simply said "Welcome to Maine. Good luck the rest of the way." Honestly the best customer service I have ever experienced. Truly incredible considering how this could have derailed our vacation. Their customer service was outstanding and the repairs were perfect - this was a new car less than 8 months old, so believe me when I say I inspected the repairs with a very critical eye. They worked seamlessly with my insurance company and took care of everything - it was incredibly smooth. I literally have not spoken to my insurance company at all since Moody's got involved. The repairs weren't just finished on time - they were finished three days early. As a female who doesn't know a lot about cars, I am often concerned about being taken advantage of while trying to take care of my car. At Moody's, however, I received the most respectful and courteous service I think I may ever had at any car repair shop. I was originally given an estimate of $450+, but the mechanic went out of his way to help me figure out how to pay only $35. I can't think of any motivation other than he was a good person and wanted to help. The shop is spacious, clean, and they also offer free coffee and juice. Overall it was a positive experience and I highly recommend them! read more

Brought my 2018 Audi Q7 into Portland Moody's around 4pm on 3/28/2019 for an estimate on having passenger side scratches fixed. Figured it would be at least a few hundred bucks, maybe more depending on how much painting they had to do. Justin took a look, said he might be able to buff the scratches out, asked if it was ok to give it a try. I said sure. Less than an hour later he came and got me from their very comfortable waiting room and showed me the results. No more scratches! Car is good as new. I asked how much. 'Nothing' said Justin. Wasn't sure I heard him right. Asked again. Same answer. Asked if I could at least make a contribution to the coffee kitty. 'Coffee's free, no need' Justin said with a grin. My 2006 Toyota was rear-ended so I brought it into Moody's Scarborough location. They later called me and told me the frame was bent and asked if I wanted it fixed. "I need a carI" I said. So they used the $7000 paid by the insurance company. The car cost me $11,300 used. Later I learned I could have used the $7000 toward a replacement car. I was angry they had withheld that option. Clearly a conflict of interest. I wrote a letter to the Attorney General's office. They told me it wasn't illegal, but it was unethical. read more

I had my car repaired after a head-on collision a couple of years ago and Moody's did a wonderful job on it. But I was rear-ended in March and not only did they not finish repairing my car after saying it was all done, they argued with me and tried to say that the damage I was pointing out wasn't from the accident. When I showed them photos, they agreed and submitted a new claim to my insurance and said they would repair it. I just got a call saying the repairs were done, so I headed over there to pick it up, and it still wasn't done! They had left two inch long, now rusted vertical scratches on the hatchback that was damaged in the initial accident that are in PLAIN SIGHT! When I asked why they hadn't been fixed along with everything else, the employee said it was his "mistake" that he should've noted it. But what a waste of my time and my insurance company's money! I will never use Moody's again because I feel that I have been lied to and misled repeatedly throughout this claim. read more

My wife and I were recently asked for advice from a friend whose car was struck from behind and damaged while stopped in traffic. This friend showed us an estimate from Moody's in the amount of $3200 which stated that the "insured" (our friend) had to pay $1000 (the insurance contract deductible) and the insurance company would pay the balance of $2200. The insurance company has sent our friend to Moody's directly as noted on the estimate. Not believing that the damage was that severe, we brought our friend to an local, established and well-thought-of auto body shop and asked for an estimate that would be paid by the owner with no collision coverage. The estimate, complete and typed out with a good explanation came to $740.00. Is this a racket or what? Our friend accepted the insurance payment of $2200, got the car repaired for $740 and received the subrogated $1000 from the insurer and took us out for a great dinner. Can't wait to get struck from behind myself......but, just a tap or so! read more

My car was parked & hit, unfortunately the person not only hit my car, but drove off without pausing. It was dark, I was walking toward it but looking down to not fall, so I heard the awful crash, looked up as they kept going & on a 25mph road, I was the 3rd parked car down after turning on this street next to a school. I hoped it wasn't my car, but it was. They did not hit the body of the car, except the side mirror, they hit the tire with such force they crushed the steering suspension system & the larger suspension system holding everything, including the engine in. I found out my insurance company had provided me a bare bones policy on a financed car 2 & 1/2 years ago (I have a 2016 Hyundai Elantra) & I'd have to pay the whole cost. Moody's really scored a 10+ in every area possible. The person assigned to my case had a chat with me to discover how he could fix my car that would work within my financial budget. He kept me informed on any changes, explained in layman's terms every step of the way & really went above & beyond to put me at ease. My car was done timely & it runs better now than it did before the crash because of the excellent work Moody's did at a price that fit in my budget! All the parts are under warranty so long as I own the car. Amazing! I would recommend them to family, friends & strangers- everyone. I went to the Presumpscot St location, but I can only imagine all Moody's may have such excellence. I'm thrilled & extremely grateful! read more

Moody's in general has horrible customer service. First they gave me a quote and then after getting my car in the shop call me and say it is going to cost 50% more then they told me. And oh by the way your car is all in pieces so really nothing you can do about it. Then once I say ok not much choice I ask them if it will still be done on time and they tell me yes. Then I get a call the next day telling me they want to go over some more charges. Of course I completely lose my temper and ask even more cost! At this point and they say oh sorry did not realize you had been told no only the 50%. I then ask again if this will be done on time and I get I am not certain. I ask them to find out and get right back with me as I have to make plans. I am told yup they will do so. End of day rolls around no call. Next day I am suppose to pick the car up and get a call about noon time telling me not complete and they cannot even give me a date. This was a dent in the front passenger side of the car folks really no big deal. A $1,500 job turns into a almost $2,300 job and they cannot complete this in a weeks time. And I think the worse thing is they really do not see this as problem. I plan on filling a complaint with the Better Businesses Bureau along with the state attorney generals office. I am certain this will do no good but will hopefully cause them a little discomfort at lest. Whenever I get my car back I can only hope that they at lest do good work. I am not holding my breath after this however. read more

We had the passenger side window replaced, which had been shattered by a rock. The quote from Moody's was over twice that for a specialist glass shop but we chose Moody's because of the reputation and the confidence they gave us that they would thoroughly clean the glass shards from the surfaces and from console crevices etc. When we picked up the car, there was obvious glass on multiple visible surfaces. I have no idea how the quality of the window replacement is but clearly the person doing the replacement didn't care about the quality of the cleanup, which we specifically emphasized in our concerns to them before having the work done. So am I going to cut myself when I reach under the seat or between the seat and back for a quarter? Or will glass shards in the console or in the door work their way into mechanical parts and cause failure? How can I be confident in the quality of the replacement? I talked to the manager about this and he was profusely apologetic and said they take the post-work survey seriously. Seriously? I said that the only protection we have as consumer's is to make these cases public. Again, he offered nothing but words of apology. Interestingly, the same day the rock was thrown through the window, we ordered 3 pizzas from Flatbread in North Conway. They noticed when they did the spot check that they goofed on one order and before I could even say "meh, no problem", the guy rushed back to have another pizza made which he gave us in addition to the goofed pizza in addition to taking off the price of the goofed pizza on our bill. This is how a shop keeps a loyal customer base. Not "I'm sorry" with absolutely no skin in the game to give me assurance that it will make any difference on future care about quality. read more
