My husband was referred to Dr McLean as a second opinion for a work comp back injury, and I have to say I was very nervous about seeing him after reading some of the reviews, so I took the day off of work to go with my husband and honestly was all set to encounter some jerk. When they called my husband back, I got up to go with him, firstly as a spouse, and second as a nurse. I have also had back surgeries for the same injury my husband had. They told me I could not go back with him, which really made me angry, the nurse said it was policy for independent reviews. After I was done fuming, and began thinking logically, it makes sense, in this situation to only have the patient go back, so the doctor can hear what the patient has to say, and give an informed opinion. As a nurse, I have seen many times a spouse or family member answer a question that was asked of the patient, which can alter treatment plans. You always want to hear how the patient perceives his illness first. My husband came out and said he really liked him, that he was thorough, and listened to what my husband had to say. My husband was also having ringing/ buzzing in his ears after a spinal injection for pain, which he told Dr McLean about, and Dr McLean put in his report that my husband should see an ENT doctor and have a hearing test to address this issue. Pretty sure the work comp people didn't want to hear this. We got a copy of his report and he was spot on! I read it very carefully, and as a nurse, he was very thorough. After his visit, my husband is finally getting the care he should have had months ago, but the work comp people resisted. Thank you Dr McLean! read more
