Dr William Stevens is the devil. I woke up with 2 bulging discs & nerve pain. I made an appointment immediately at this God awful place, Ortho Arizona. I get to my appointment 30 minutes early. I fill out my paperwork they take me in and I wait almost 3 hours in a room waiting to be seen. I complain about waiting 2 hours and they say someone will be with me soon. I'm miserable from the nerve pain. Almost another hour later the PA finally comes inside the room. She apologizes for being late. Starts to examine me, 5 minutes in, Her phone rings & she says. "I'm so sorry I have to take this" Really??? They send me to get MRIs. My next appointment I meet this POS Dr. William Stevens. He comes in barely & vaguely speaks to me. Says I need an emergency surgery the next morning. Caught off guard, I can't just go to surgery the next day. I need to make plans, I have a family & my own business to run. When I'm hesitant to schedule. He starts rushing me. Telling me to hurry up & make a decision because he is 2 hours behind. As if that's my fault. He also takes a call during my consult. Hangs up and pressures me more to decide immediately. I genuinely believe he totally took advantage of me being vulnerable, in 10 level pain, & used scare tactics to pressure me to have spinal fusion surgery. He never offered any other option. He was completely rude disrespectful POS. I schedule a surgery the next Tuesday morning. The day before the surgery I ask him what I can take for pain that won't be a problem for surgery. He said I can take pain pills & medical marijuana before the surgery with no issue. I get to my surgery location, 3-4 different staff members come to my surgery bed to ask me the same stupid questions. My anxiety for this surgery was through the roof. So I started making jokes with the staff because it was becoming redundant. Does the staff not communicate with each other? The Anesthesiologists has no sense of humor. After speaking to me, He leaves goes to see Dr. Stevens. He says I'm high and demands Dr. Stevens to cancel the surgery. Dr. Stevens comes to my bed and says the surgery is canceled due to my medical marijuana use. Surprised & upset, My wife confronts his BS. Because the day before over the phone he said pain pills & medical marijuana is fine for me to take before the surgery. Embarrassed Dr. Stevens disrespects my Wife & I. And tells us "If we don't like it, get another doctor." Dr. William Stevens is a deceptive disrespect devilish doctor and for his sake I hope we never meet again. Lack of Cultural Sensitivity & Poor Communication I accompanied my mom to an appointment at OrthoArizona and was really disappointed with the overall experience--especially considering how important communication and respect are in healthcare. Our appointment was at 9:30 a.m. I called ahead at 8:30 to let them know we would be about 5-10 minutes late and was told it would be fine and noted on the schedule. When we arrived, my mom was handed paperwork only in English. I asked if they had Spanish copies and was told no. I had to translate everything for her, which took extra time. I was there to help--but what happens to Spanish-speaking patients who come alone? Once we were brought back, the medical assistant seemed rushed and made a point to say we shouldn't have even been brought in if we were going to be late (despite my call ahead). She also noted that no one in the office speaks Spanish. I explained that I could help translate casually, but I'm not familiar with medical terminology--especially when it comes to the spine--and wouldn't be able to accurately explain what the doctor would say. The MA said we should've told the front desk earlier (we weren't asked) and that now she had to set up a translator. But when the doctor came in, no translator was present, and the language barrier was completely ignored. I did my best to help my mom understand, but the responsibility of proper communication should not fall on the patient's family. This clinic is clearly not equipped to serve non-English-speaking patients with the dignity and clarity they deserve. In 2025, especially in Arizona, clinics should be prepared to serve diverse communities. Language barriers should not prevent people from receiving proper medical care, and it's frustrating--and honestly disheartening--to see such a lack of cultural competence in a medical setting. read more

First time I went in here, they tried to sell me a $200 custom split for my left pinky finger. They were unwilling to allow Insurance to process the claim and demanded payment prior to my getting it. Second time I stopped in it weas to schedule an appt [I had just seen the Dr., next door] it took 15 minutes. Yes, I had already been so it was not new patient related. Third time, I went for the actual pinky PT. I arrived at 5:07 for a 5P appt, waited a few minutes to get checked in only to be told THE THEAPIST HAD ALREADY LEFT FOR HE DAY. This is so incredibly mind boggling, I will NEVER go here again. No call, nothing, just 'well its 5P, she is late, I am outta here, buh bye!' Additionally, the place reeks like a high school gym the moment you first get in the door. I would like to add, they lady at the front desk, Lavendar, is AWESOME. She is nice, knowledgeable, and very patient. But a terapist that goes home 10 minutes past an appt on a Monday - no can do, unprofessional and lets me know they are there 100% for money and 0% for patient care. I deserve much, much better. On 1/6/2026 I paid for that days appointment with OrthoArizona for a total of $283. 2 months later I discovered on my own that I over paid by $21.30 so after asking for a credit a credit was given to me for $21.30. Even though I paid the total amount of $261.70 for that days service on 1/6/2026 I have been billed repeatedly for that amount. I have called many times to OrthoArizona's billing service called Physicians Billing Services to get this problem solved but I continue to get billed for a service that has already been paid for in full on the day of service. I have asked to speak to a supervisor at the billing company after not getting any help from the agent that I spoke to on the phone to get this issue resolved but have been told that there aren't any supervisors available. I was told that a supervisor will call me but they never call. I continue to get this bill in the mail plus they are sending me texts stating that I owe them $261.70. I have proof of my payment on my January American Express statement. OrthoArizona and their billing company Physicians Billing Services are incompetent! I am beyond frustrated with both. read more

I would absolutely NOT recommend OrthoArizona unless you enjoy being treated like dirt and wasting your money. Here's a few highlights. I was supposed to be seen by P.A. Amy E Knighton and I was rudely greeted by a man so I'm pretty sure it wasn't Amy that treated me. I was told there is nothing wrong with me. Yeah you fell and got hurt but it's nothing. Nothing is wrong with you. Oh you have "lump" in your MRI but you had it before your fall and you will have it after it heals. I was told not to leave a negative review just because there is nothing he can do to help. He then said look at me I have freckles. Are freckles normal? I said yes I believe so my entire family has them. He told me they aren't. I still have absolutely no idea what that has to do with a lump that I shouldn't be worried about and that he wasn't able to explain to me. Here's a novel idea don't mention the lump if it's not a problem. Also, I was never shown the MRI results and still don't have them. Another $175 down the drain. I presume the results may come to me eventually, but how would I know I needed to get my butt out of that office because even though I'm paying for a service I was obviously wasting this nameless P.A.'s time. I'm seriously appalled that this person is allowed to work with human beings. His bedside manner left much to be desired and it was the worst experience I've ever had at a medical office. I guess I've been blessed with being a very healthy person and have had positive experiences with healthcare workers in this past. This bad behavior really threw me for a loop. Good news is there is no permanent damage. I guess if I should believe this rude P.A. that has no business working in healthcare. I plan on calling to confirm his name was so I can update this review. If he wasn't Amy I would like to be sure I give the sour review to the person responsible. He needs to get some training big time. I would never allow this man to deal with patients with his bad attitude. ***Update*** Well, I was able to determine the person who treated me was none other than the spinal specialist, Dr. William Stevens, MD. Weird because I was told he wasn't available and I'd be seeing his P.A. He probably should have stuck to the original plan to spare himself another horrible review. There are plenty of good ones too. I don't want to take away from his talent as it seems as long as he can cut you open and add another wing to his home he will be all over your injury. If you have an acute injury this doctor has no time for you. Spare yourself the grief and find a reputable specialist that actually cares about human beings and understands that sometimes people slip and fall and have pain and just want to make sure they are not permanently damaged and get the best recommendations on how to heal properly and get back to 100%. As a new patient, I showed up 15 mins early, as requested. Only to wait, and wait for over an hour, to then find out that they had a "computer glitch" and was "running a little behind". They wasted an hour and a half of my time, that I had to make up at work. They didn't respect my time enough to let me know when I checked in that they were behind. I left without rescheduling. AVOID THIS COMPANY! Their billing policies and customer service are horrible! They demanded a large prepayment amount for surgery shortly before the surgery itself. I had to cancel the surgery because I couldn't afford the charge. They then billed me for the pre-surgery exam, and would not respond to my requests that it be voided because of the surgery cancelation. Very greedy and unethical people. Dr. Stevens's scheduling team has not responded to any of our 14-plus requests for surgery! I can't imagine seeking an Orthopedic surgeon is on a list of things one must try... I mean, maybe for some but it is definitely not a situation I'd ever been looking forward to. I'm from a far away land where one can simply walk into a Dr office and receive medical care, without insurance.... due to this, the idea of seeking the same care here creates anxiety. The Kid busted his arm and a close friend of mine recommended OrthoArizona. Upon first visit with Dr Domer, I wasn't so sure. I mean, the office was kind and it seemed pretty standard. It wasn't until surgery day that I really saw Dr Domer shine. It was personable, informative and really help put me at ease. It was a full radial fracture and he was 'glued' back together I a much shorter period than I had anticipated. Dr Domer met me in the lobby to let me know the surgery was successful and to hand me the xray he promised The Kid. I was having issues with my selected pharmacy and had called what I thought to be the office line. I never received a call back and at our follow up visit I had expressed this to the doctor and he seemed mortified at my not receiving a call back, called it "terrible patient care" and tasked someone else with checking the logs to find out who should have called back. Turned out I had called a corporate number my friend had initially given me, so that one was my bad. But the effort Dr Domer went to was above and beyond. I'd like to hope someone doesn't need an orthopedic surgeon but if I knew anyone who did I would certainly recommend Dr. Domer and his staff! read more

Very cold and biased against people that don't "wear a mask," which I don't because of medical condition. However, made us wait OUTSIDE (in the chilled winter air) the building for half an hour (full 30 minutes) beyond the scheduled appointment time. Then made me wait in an isolated room, while my son was taken elsewhere in the building to have his cast removed. I was referred to come here after having an MRI from a hip sports injury a couple of years ago which resulted in a total loss of mobility. I came here as a referral from my physical therapist office that I have been going to. This is the worst decision and biggest mistake ever. The consult lasted 10 minutes with Dr Schmitt claiming to know my physical limitations before the injury or before seeing me. I disagreed and said that I lost movement after the injury and he got angry and said okay and left the room. Gave me a Referall to a different doctor and left. The fact that they will bill my insurance for this visit in an embarrassment to the medical field. read more

I would like to start this review off by saying that the front desk staff, nurses and the person who put my splint on were extremely nice and accomodating so this review is not directed to them at all. I injured my foot and was referred to Ortho Arizona from the urgent care where I recieved my initial treatment. Upon arrival to Ortho Arizona, there was about 30-40 people in the waiting area which already gave me an uneasy feeling about how much time they are able to spend with their patients with that level of congestion. I was seen relatively quickly by the staff and had X-Rays done then was sent to wait for the Doctor to come see me. The Doctor came in and immediately said my injury was pretty severe, which I expected, and then said I was going to need surgery that would require screws and plates and I would be off my foot for about 3-4 months. The Doctor spent maybe a whole of two minutes with me and did not discuss any other options for surgery and seemed like he wanted to get this consultation over with as quickly as possible. I was instructed to get a CT Scan on my injured foot and then I would have a follow up about a week later from this initial appointment. I get my CT Scans done and am having a bad feeling about the whole process so I begun to look for a second opinion, and I am extremely glad I did. I went to another doctor and I brought my CT Scans with me and his initial reaction was "why did they make you get a CT Scan I can see the injury perfectly fine from the X-Rays." Mind you, I also paid out of pocket about $300 for this CT Scan so that was extremely unnerving. This new doctor spent time with me, only if it was 5-10 minutes longer, than the one at Ortho Arizona and made me feel comfortable about the process. The Doctor informed me that yes, my injury was bad, but there were other options that would not handicap me for 3-4 months. I am writing this review 1 week post surgery and my recovery time has been estimated at a total of 4 weeks until I can start physical therapy, which is a stark contrast to the initial 12+ week timeline given to me by Ortho Arizona. Additionally, ONE day before I was scheduled to have my follow up appointment with Ortho Arizona they called me asking if I was able to have surgery in under 36 hours which would require lab testing, calling off of work etc...this was not nearly enough time and I felt extremely rushed in the process. Overall the staff was very nice and I have no complaints about them but the impression I got from the Doctor was a lack of care and I was just seen as more money to collect. I am so glad that I decided to seek out another option before commiting. read more

I was unable to schedule an appointment to see my physician (Dr. Michael Wimink) due to a small balance I owed. I was not even allowed to leave a message for his PA or MA until I spoke to the billing department which I had already and explained that. My bill is paid in full. I would not recommend OrthoArizona after my recent experience leading up to, during and after my rotator cuff surgery. In my case, Dr. Jarbo is suppossed to have an excellent reputation, but I think he is overly busy, therefore his specific practice as an Orthopedic Surgeon suffers because he is not able to provide the time or ensure the resources necessary for the full preparation before surgery, successful execution during surgery and care after surgery are in place for his patients. The coordination to get all the necessary sign-offs for the surgery was lacking in that a form that specialists could fill out was not provided which caused me, the patient to get extensively involved. Also, the requirements for the surgery was not followed up on from their end, I required an electric scooter or wheel chair, which my insurance can provide upon a properly filled out order from the doctor. I still do not have a wheelchair at least nearly 2 weeks after my surgery. Therefore, I am confined to my house and using a quad pod cane and walls This BIGGEST issues occurred on the day of surgery and right afterwards. On the day of my surgery, I was there on time and everyone else was ready except for the anesthesiologist, who I could hear had been pulled from my surgery to the catheter lab at the hospital connected to the surgery center. I was delayed. It was such a long delay that I could hear the doctor went for breakfast and offered to get the nursing staff breakfast too. Then when the new anesthesiologist arrived for my surgery she was confused, disoriented as to where things were and even which items in packages to use. She also had a "deer in the headlights" look about her. The surgical nurse came helped her and the two appeared to administer the nerve block talking about the positioning of the needly which I could also see on the ultrasound screen. Unfortunately, the nerve block was either too much or too close to the nerve that controls your diaphragm for breathing because when they wheeled me into the operating room in a sitting position I could breathe Ok, however when I laid down upon transferring to the operating table, I said I could not breathe. My complaint was dismissed. I was told by one of the people, I think the surgical nurse, that the nerve block can do that sometime, but once the anaesthia was administered I would be fine. When the confused and unsure anesthesiologist went to administer the anesthesia, she pushed it all into the IV, however she did not notice the blood pressure cuff was inflating and cutting off my circulation. The anesthesia was backed up like a balloon in my vein and burning it. I screamed loudly and said my arm was on fire and the IV was burning me. There was lots of commotion and I blanked out for the surgery. The surgery supposedly went fine, I was never talked to, but my spouse was by Dr. Jarbo. However upon discharge, the problems really started once I got home and the anesthesia fully wore off. The confused anesthesiologist had gotten too close to a nerve and paralyzed by diaphragm. I could not breathe and was told my the on-call doctor at OrthoArizona to go to the closest ER right away. Great, now I am being rushed to the Mayo ER 1.5 miles away. They confirmed that yes, the never block had paralyzed my diaphragm and I had to stay for observation until it would wear off. All the while my heart is beating 120-140 beats a minute to circulate enough oxygen from what breathing I could do. It was a long 14 hours of adrenaline and slowly recovering a situation I identified before any of the doctors or staff gave me the anesthesia, but they refused to listen to the dumb patient. In the end at least I was alive and able to take really deep breathes. I have heard from anyone at OrthoArizona, no. HonorHealth Outpatient Surgical Center, no. The anesthesiologist, who has to know she had screwed up at least on administering the anesthesia, no! The only people who have followed up multiple times are Mayo Hospital to make sure I am not having the same symptoms. SAD! read more

I'm so happy that I went here to see Dr. Maurice, she helped with my foot injury that I got on the job. She was very considerate, made sure I understood what the next steps were and asked if i had any questions. After a bone stimulator and two rounds of physical therapy my foot is much better. The tech's that have taken me to the rooms, helped get an xray, or get a support insole were all very friendly and really listened to me. read more

This would qualify as my worst medical office experience. Got a fast appointment and saw the doc. He ordered an MRI which was denied by the insurance for lack of documentation. I called and was told it would be taken care of. A week passed without contact. Again, I called and left 4 messages, no call back. Called again and was told I need to speak to someone else, left message. No call. In the meantime, I can no longer walk and the pain is unbearable. Finally, I call and speak with the clinic director who was very nice. She said she would speak to the doc and call me by end of day. Never got a call back. This is a busy large clinic with multiple locations, but if you are not interested in your patients care, pain or follow up, then you are not a medical provider. I fully understand that the office is busy, but no return calls, no follow up on unapproved testing, and no concern for a patient in agony. I spent 30 years in the medical field and have never seen such a disregard for patient care, organization and just plain....compassion. read more

Was referred to a Dr at OrthoArizona. The visit went well and he referred me to another specialist. I was instructed to wait two weeks and follow up if I didn't receive a callback from the specialist to schedule an appointment. I call OrthoArizona to follow up two weeks later and they gave me the phone number to reach the specialist directly. I call the specialist, who tells me THEY DO NOT DO OUTBOUND SCHEDULING! I basically wasted two weeks waiting for a call that OrthoArizona didn't bother making on my behalf, and didn't bother to tell me I needed to make on my own. Never going here again as someone screwed up while I waited in physical pain for someone to do their job. read more

This post is in regard to the Staff/Medical Assistants to Dr. Boyer. Dr. Boyer, Orthopedic Foot & Ankle, is a fine doctor who diagnosed my ankle as PTTD. #1 - upon my first visit, Jan 19th, it took persistent calling over 3 days to get the staff to forward the prescriptions he'd ordered over to Wallgreens. I actually called their JCL offices and asked them to intercede for me. #2 - at my Mar 16th visit, Dr. Boyer prescribed a Richie Brace & PT and said that I would receive "a call" to set that up. After a week expired, on Mar 22th I called his Medical Assistant at the Arcadia office twice and left voicemails but never received a call back. I then called his MA in his Chandler office on Mar 23rd leaving a voice message, and again never received a call back. Since, Dr. Boyer was new to the clinic, he was not listed on the patient portal for messaging, so I wrote him a letter asking that he either use USPS or email to send me the prescription for the brace so I could make an appointment with an orthotic clinic. Still no response! On Mar 29th, I called the Arcadia front office and demanded to speak to the clinic supervisor and explained why. The front ofc assistant rounded up the MA and put her on the phone. She said that the brace prescription had been sent to Hanger Clinic on the 24th (hmmm, day after my voicemail). I requested her to email me the actual prescription and that I wanted to go the Hanger Clinic on E. Bell Rd and would she fax the prescription to them? She said yes and I provided her the fax number. #3 - I went to the Hanger Clinic on April 19th only to be told that they required the "Doctor's Notes" and that OrthoAZ had not faxed the prescription to them! After much discussion, Hanger called OrthoAZ and after being on hold for 10 minutes was able to get them to fax the prescription and the notes so that I could proceed with my brace fitting. #4 - I finally received a call from their PT group a month after my doctor's appointment. #5 - I did speak to the OrthoArizona's Arcadia clinic supervisor, Jessica Baldwin, and diplomatically told her about my experience and suggested that they either had a staff issue or a system issue and hoped she or someone would address the problems for the sake of the patients. And what is truly sad, is that I never got a response from Dr. Boyer to my letter. Patients should not have to "battle" to get a clinic to help them nor to just do their jobs, and unfortunately, this is how it felt for me . . . a battle! read more

I have had 3 appointments at Ortho AZ Chandler. The front staff is friendly and ontime. However, all 3 apts I have waited for over an hour past my appointment time. I was brought back into an exam room and sat for 45-60 mins each time. Finally, I got up to leave and was finally seen. I 100% understand running behind, but being 45mins to an hour late is unacceptable and shows patients no regard for their own appts etc that are scheduled. Called in because I was running 15 minutes late. They said it was fine, they had a 15 minute grace period. I came in 10 minutes late. Doctor rescheduled me because he was "running behind". Wasted my time, and gas. Do not recommend Dr. Schmidt. read more

I saw Dr. David Ott for my partial knee replacement. He did an amazing job! Everyone in his office has been amazing from Ashley and Jessica, to Chris and Dr. Ott. My surgery went great and PT at the Litchfield office has been fantastic. I would highly recommend Dr. Ott and OrthoArizona!! read more
