Dr Russo takes him time with his patients explaining details of surgery. He also provides a detailed workbook of what to expect before and after surgery. Quite helpful. Today he performed surgery at HonorHealth. As his first patient in the queue, surgery was expected to last 2 hours. He called me when he had completed to tell me all went well. Recovery lasts for 2 hours and then observation for the next few hours. A nurse contacted me awhile later to give me a hospital room number and visiting hours. I spoke with the patient briefly. 10/10 Doctor care with Dr. Matt Russo. As of now, both hips replaced with him at Ortho Arizona. I had my left hip done in June 2022 at the new facility in Scottsdale and not in the hospital as I did the first time. What a great experience! Out patient surgery with everything done in house. They have their own nursery, pre and after care, their own rehab specialists, and their own anesthetists so you stay in one place with great care. It is a little faster paced surgery but it all went down with great care and super easy. Surgery was at 11 am, recovery after that, then around 4 pm awake and gently up and walking around the hall with a walkers and an aid. Out the door by 5:30 pm! First day home was bit sketchy but after that all went well. I had no pain at all with the second surgery as well. This surgery was less stressful with coming off the anesthesia meds the next day. A little stiffness but up and walking with no pain and no assistance just a walker around the house. You can hardly see my incision which both sides were done anterior. WOW!!! I can't begin to give Dr. Matthew Russo the thanks he deserves. Two years of dealing with a bad hip, Dr M. Russo verified I was bone on bone. After having this initial consultation with Dr. M. Russo, he explained the anterior approach, I don't know what I was waiting for. Prior to this, I just anticipated a lot of surgery pain and a long recovery. On the contrary, I now have my life back and didn't have to deal with any pain or consequences from the surgery. It was amazing!!! I was home within 24 hours and left the hospital with Tylenol for the pain. I hate to call it pain since that is what I was dealing with for the past 24 months, this was more of a temporary weakness, a slight discomfort. I was on a walker for 4 days and doing my Pulse Exercise program religiously and the progress was quick. Went to a cane for the next two weeks and back to work after three. For more than a year I was suffering from Bi-lateral leg pain and left thigh pain. My PCP did not think much of it. Try aspirin/Tylenol/Aleve, probably arthritis come back in a month and let's see what if it is still bothering you. Well after seeing an orthopedic doctor (not an orthopedic surgeon) and a Rheumatologist, and like 6 visits to the PCP and some research online I told the PCP I wanted to get a referral to see Dr. Mathew Russo. Best decision I ever made. From making the first phone call, the office staff was courteous, friendly, polite and very professional and helpful and got me in as soon as they could. I met Dr. Mathew Russo for the consult, he was very polite, understanding and professional. He did not rush me, listened and looked at the x-rays and with a totally positive diagnosis said "you need hip replacement surgery". So I was scheduled for surgery in like 3 weeks. Went to the hospital, checked in, had surgery, saw Dr. Russo while I was in Pre-Op, his bed side manner was great, answered question, took his time, did not rush me, shook hands and said see you later. I woke in recovery, very little pain and I mean LITTLE, hospital was great, the P.A., Chaim Kaplan, also saw me after surgery, he also had excellent bedside manner, polite and professional, asked me questions and he answered my questions, also called the office after hours one day and he called me back in like 20 minutes and again listened to why I called and made sure he answered my question and told me to call back no matter what if I have any concerns or questions. I had an anterior total hip arthroplasty performed by Dr. Matt Russo in January 2019. I couldn't be more pleased with the results. Dr. Russo advised on the type of procedures that were available to me and explained the whole process. The surgery was a total success with no complications and surprisingly very little pain. After 8 months of suffering, having xrays, a ct scan and an mri done I was told the pain was coming from my back and there was nothing that could be done for me. A visit to a Lazer Surgeon confirmed to me that the pain was from my hip and I was in need of a total right hip replacement. I was rejected by two orthopedic surgeons due to high risks, then Dr. Matt Russo was suggested to me. I first met with his father, Dr. Vincent Russo who advised me that his son could help me but he could not see me until the following week since he was out of town. I did meet with Dr. Matt Russo the next week and he confirmed after taking xrays that I needed a total hip replacement.
