This is definitely going in my top 5 coolest things to do. On a trip to Colorado my friend suggested we visit this farm in Wyoming knowing how much I love and admire American Bison sometimes also called Buffalo. You have a choice to take a trail ride on horseback or a train. We opted for the train. A cool homemade train built by the owner himself who I learned was a retired ironworker. Mucho props to the skilled workers of America! Our guide was awesome! I already knew a lot about the Bison but hearing what I knew confirmed by someone who actually lives and works with the animals was so exciting for me. She enthusiastically told us her long career with the Bison and the battle scars she's received. Insisting on the danger of these gentle looking animals. With that being said we were allowed the grand privilege of being able to hand feed the Bison. Who in my opinion there is no grander animal. The sheer size of them was unfathomable until actually seen in person. Their velvet lips were soft when scooping the food from your hands. But you had to be fast. They could tip the train over if they wished. So feed them fast or else they get restless! LOL There were several herds, but we only got to see this herd which consisted of 2 males and the rest all females & babies. Babies naturally conceived. No IVF here. Also on the ranch were several kinds of other animals and lots of babies. Camels, Llamas, Ostriches, etc. Cool family day out. They also have campgrounds where you can RV or tent camp with facilities and there is a restaurant on site also called Senators. So come! It was a 45min drive from Denver. Rode the train and saw the buffalo herd up close. Watch out for the paper bags containing the buffalo treats -- they WILL tear. Decent gift shop and animal farm on premises, but the train ride is def the highlight. Bring your camera and tip the train driver. read more

Pretty cool place to check out bison and a small slew of animals. We wanted to take the train tour throughout the ranch. Were there about 45 minutes early which gave us an opportunity to go on the catwalk and overlook donkeys, ostrich, goats, horses and cows. The goats were pretty cute as there were a few baby ones running around. Bison tour was informative, even if the tour guide was less than funny (he made attempts at cracking jokes). Few of the bison did come up to us and took our treats. While on the tour we rode along side a pasture that were filled with prairie dogs which were really cute. If you have kids or never seen bison, this is a great stop while in Cheyenne. read more

Everything about my visit was amazing. The store had unique items and had something for everyone Purchased tickets for train ride. While waiting got great info from one of the ranch hands. I feel like this is the South of the Border of the west. Yes, it's an actual working bison ranch. Yes, they have camels and ostriches too. Peacocks, roosters, horses, donkeys, and a pack of llamas in the rodeo cattle pen. The train was fun and you get to feed treats to bison. Plus the train engineer was probably the best tour guide I've ever had. He was really engaging and full of knowledge. All that aside.... The train was kind of pricey. The 20 minute pony ride lasted less than 10 minutes. The souvenir shop was pricey. But the spots seemed to be fairly priced with full hook ups. The train ride with the Grand babies was fun! Then we decided to eat a late lunch with 5 adults and 3 kids. It took 1 whole hour to get our lunch. The hostess was our wait staff. So, we didn't get any refills till the burnt sweet potato fries and burnt French dip with watery juice was served. The boys ordered bison burgers, and they were great! We loved the bison ranch! It was a random stop on our road trip and so far the #1 highlight. We met a very friend three legged cat before the train started. I also saw some baby cows and gave them some face scratches. Our train conductor was so funny and kind and personable. The price of the ticket was well worth it, as you had unlimited feed to give the bison, and a 30 minute experience. I purchased mine on Groupon and saved 60%. Some complaints about store pricing, but this place has lodging, so of course commodities will be inflated. Super glad I came here as nothing like this exists close by. Call for hours, as they're different than what Apple says. Probably wouldn't stay here though. read more

This was a fun family outing for our three generations today (ranging age 17 - 79), and we all enjoyed it! If you like animals, this is a must - a very unusual experience to get to hand feed a Bison! Some other animals to see and things to do too. The train ride was about 45 min I think, and we spent another 30 min or so wandering looking at other animals. If you're in Colorado or Wyoming, you definitely have to make a stop at Terry Bison Ranch! Saw this spot on TikTok and I definitely think the unique experience is worth the hype. We came for the bison train/feeding experience, which includes a train tour around the farm and 15 minutes of bison interaction/feeding (with feed provided) for only $20 a person. You can also walk around to look at the farm animals (although our tour guide recommended not getting near the ostrich or the llama lol), horseback ride, and even fish on the ranch for just $1 a day. The tour guide was really funny and knowledgeable, and even let us stragglers that arrived 2 minutes before the train took off get on, but the ladies in the front office/store really weren't the most friendly or helpful. I probably wouldn't want to stay on the farm as many of the structures are historically preserved (since when Teddy Roosevelt worked there LOL) and aren't in the best condition. There's also a restaurant right next to the ranch called Senator's Steakhouse which is convenient for a quick and nearby bite to eat, but I would recommend venturing out further to Fort Collins or Cheyenne if you have more time and want some better food! read more

My husband won $163 on his credit, and I won $62 on my credit. we rode the bison train and saw five brand, new baby calves and fed all the mamas cake chips. clean facilities through and through. On our second day, Dustin's wife made us homemade corn husk tamales. What a surprise. This place was so disappointing! Firstly-no smoke detector, out of date fire extinguisher, definitely not up to standards. air conditioner needed new filter. We booked a cabin 6 months ahead of time with 2 double beds, but didn't get And it certainly was not the cabin advertised! The managers on at time were unhelpful, rude. Was told that the flip out sofa was the other double bed. no way was that what we booked and was not what was advertised ! The linen was in a garbage bag and there was no spare pillows for the bed! the sofa bed had plastic wrap, with holes and dead bugs! the fly paper was full of moths and looked like they old ones had been picked off leaving remnants of dead bodies. the sinks and the oven was dirty. I do not recommend staying here at all. the worst place that we stayed at after 14 days of travel. I was so upset with management and accommodation! We did not go on the ride to see the bison! The attitude of the women in charge on the days was so horrible, we did not want to spend more money there. I would have left on arrival but it was foggy and raining. I did not feel safe there! That put a damper on my experience because several adults had to share out of one door. They took out a train with windows that do not open. I was disappointed only because I visited from New Jersey. We were traveling through and stopped for the night. Pulled in at 6:30pm and was pretty empty and the site was clean with RV hook ups and electricity. We left approximately 9am. We didn't see one person and packed and left. It looks like an old fashion town with saloon and all. Can't give any more stars because we didn't do any of the amenities. read more

This bison train ride was a lot of fun! We came here and took the noon ride. Admission for adult is $15 and it's about an hour. The ranch has around 2500 bison roaming around but you don't get to see all of them, unless you take an entire day and wander out. They have a few dozen bison in an enclosed area where we get to feed them.. The train takes you pass ostriches, alpacas, camels and horses and then arrive at the bison area. The bison starts to come to our train. There is a bucket of food pellets to feed them. It didn't costs extra so that was good. We had enough time to feed them around 25 mins. Then there is a short act, a miniature horse name Price that knows how to count. That was amazing too! After the ride, we ate bison Ribeye at their restaurant and the food was really good. The only thing I would suggest is to play a recording on their history and cut that down in half. The volume was loud and the jokes weren't very funny. The only place in America where you can feed bison. A must visit! read more

Sunday morning, I had a rough week and I wanted a good steak, we drove from Englewood Colorado (my house which is almost 2hrs away) to have a good steak, got here at 1:30, ordered the most expensive steak on the menu, Ribeeye with Loaded potato, .. after 1 hr and 10 minutes I got a steak that DOES NOT look like a 10oz steak, with fires and greenbeans, no loaded potatoe and a shitty steak.. never coming back to this place .. Fun place, even without kids! I want to come back with my grandsons. The train ride is a must, as it takes you on nice loop around the property, through two states and past lots of fascinating animals. Feeding the bison is delightful ( and you can eat them too!) Well-stocked "trading post" for gifts and trinkets, but lacking some basics like laundry soap ($17 for a big bag of tide pods?! No thanks.) Friendly farm cats all over the place. Tent camping was very reasonably priced in the low $20's. Weather was really something that evening, windy and wet, but it settled down and we got through the night. They have cabins and RV spots. We were the only tenters, no doubt because of the weather. Nice showers, bathrooms and available laundry facilities, although without a change machine. An unusual and fun experience! read more

Train tour left without us, despite waiting at the train depot for our ride. No way to see the animals except on the train. Such an amazing experience!!! We made a stop here on our road-trip, since neither of us have seen a bison before. After learning about the train tour, we had to do it! Jeff was our guide, and we loved him! He was kind and funny, but also very knowledgeable in the ranch's history. Also, the best was his knowledge of the animals! Even our interactions with the other staff members was so pleasant, very good people work here, which makes the experience so much better. Our trip started out a little rough. Cabin wasn't super clean. Trash wasn't taken out. No a/c (some of the cabins do have a/c, ours didn't and TV didn't work. Also the $35 buffet was nearly out of food when we got there. Aside from that, it was a fun and relaxing experience. Good people and awesome animals. Wyoming has a lot more wind than I'm used to. Called here a couple of weeks ago asking about the bison tour and was told to just drop in whenever. Came today and was told their tickets were sold out. I can totally understand that there was a misunderstanding but the way we were told was so rude. We said hello, how are you to the man that was in the barn and he didn't say hello back or answer the question but came walking towards us. We asked how we could get on the bison tour and he said "you can buy a ticket tomorrow." Nothing else, no hello, no see you tomorrow. Very rude. Definitely not coming back for the tour of course - don't want to support a place that would think you can treat people like that. read more

Sadly, we did not enjoy our stay here! It may have been because it was storming the day we stayed - so the rv resort itself seemed super dirty and just gives you that yuck feeling. The sites were pull thru with full hook ups, which is great. However your neighbors sewer hook up is quite literally at your door step. The walkway bridge to view animals seems like it could break at any second & the bison train ride de-railed while we were there lol Wifi was terrible and very spotty service without it. Overall, it worked for our one night stop but I 100% would not recommend staying here any longer. We are a family of 4 with two small kiddos so we were excited for this stay but the pictures and reviews definitely outshine the actual place. Hopefully it's a bit nicer on a good sunny day! BISON TRAIN TOUR: Wyoming is a Gem that alot of people dont ever discover, Im so glad we drove only 2hrs from Colorado across thea state line for a visit. We visited the store to buy the tickets, associate was very friendly and helpful. Once we boarded the train the young lady was also kind and knowledgeable. We got to feed Bison and take some great pics, while learning about the ranch and bison. The ranch has many activities you can participate in, we only had time for the Bison, we wanted to wander downtown abit which is not to be missed, so lovely!! A very Unique experience overall, U have to do this while in Cheyenne!! Such a lovely place... Cons: The ranch is a little run down, they need to do repairs on the train, only a few of the windows work, the overall feel was rustic but run down, I hope the animals are treated in a good way, they seemed fine. Yes it was a little touristy, but to be honest what business aint, they have to pay bills, feed animals and pay staff. Read reviews and U decide if this is your cup of tea! We enjoyed to the fullest and appreciated the experience. Personally this was better than going to the zoo and seeing polar bears caged up looking miserable.... RESTAURANT: We also walked over to the restaurant to try out some Bison, it was absolutely the best ever! The bartender came over to personally talk to me about some specialty drinks to try!! They give you a 40% off entire purchase coupon at train ride. We made the mistake of spending $250 in the gift shop and THEN taking the train ride. Got an overpriced campsite during Frontier Days. Campsite grass was cut and we're parked in a flooded site. Asked to have stone to fill in the water and were offered a different site. Didn't want to move because it wasn't worth the effort for one nite. Entrance to campground looked like it had been bombed. Prices for site were raised $100 per nite over regular rates. I will not go back. Place was a dump especially for the price. read more
