We were looking for a place to go in for a happy hour or a quick drink before dinner and went into The Metropolitan. The place is nice and spacious inside. We ordered a few drinks and a few appetizers - like other places, they did not have the appetizer we ordered from the menu, so we chose something else. For a drink and an appetizer, the Metropolitan is okay.

    Prime rib

Friends made reservations for a group to celebrate their daughter graduating from UW. When we arrived we were told that they were just hit with a very large group. We were told that our orders would not be placed for at least a 1/2 hour from our reservation time. We were fine with the delay and were seated. The wait staff (Jazlyn?) were friendly and attentive. We ordered drinks and appetizers which arrived in a timely manner. Our orders for the main course were taken at the time delay they told us. Our table of three ordered the same meal, prime rib. One was ordered medium, while mine and my wife's were ordered medium rare. Our food arrived in a timely manner. When I cut into my prime rib it was not medium rare. It was well done. I figured they might have mixed it with the other order at the table. When all three of us cut into our prime rib they were all cooked to well done. The fingerlings and asparagus were spot on. We ate our prime rib. It was tough and flavorless. To top it off, our table finished our meal before three in our group got their much more simple meal.

    Lemon Shrimp Pasta

Definitely came to the best place in town. Great ambiance, intimate lighting, and excellent service. Couldn't decide on apps so we got it all. For dinner I had the lemon shrimp pasta. Washed it all down with an old fashion that was so good I had to order two.

We had a quick lunch and all items were pretty good. The burger was better than the Spinach Artichoke dip, but both hit the spot, along with the unlimited lemonade. Nice waitress as well.

Black cod is phenominal! Get it.

The miso black cod is lights out. Ths best I,ve had, period. I would sub mashed potatoes for rice. The service top notch, the calamari and mozzatella and house wine cannot be beat. Cannot wait to come back!

One of the best restaurants in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Portion sizes are great and loved the dessert. Everything is very fresh and tasty too.

In terms of romance and ambience, this modern chic eatery will make you forget you're in little Cheyenne Wyoming. The dark elegant dining room and bar look like something from New York or San Francisco. I was solo so just grabbed a bar seat, and was served a by a busy but very friendly barman. $17 Prime Rib Dip...a sizeable portion of tasty sliced prime rib in a French roll, nothing more except the juicy au jus dip. Meaty deliciousness, but didn't have a "wow" factor. I subbed out fries for salad as I was watching my belly size, salad was good enough with a variety of dressings to choose from. I was here for brunch, but I imagine dinner would be great.

Power bowl w/ half portion salmon

I love the power bowls here so much I simply cannot order anything else. Today I got it with salmon and it was chefs kiss! I ordered a half portion of the salmon and was surprised it was small, but before I could say anything my waiter brought a plate with double the amount because he felt bad that it was so small.

Great restaurant! We went for lunch and had the salmon and the bison pasta and the spinach artichoke dip for an appetizer. The salmon was phenomenal along with the drinks! The bison pasta was a unique dish but still great! The spicy sausage complimented with the sweeter pasta sauce made a great lunch! Our server was very friendly and attentive and I never felt like I was looking for her. I did love the vibe of this place. It feels upscale but casual enough to pop in for lunch or dinner.

The food here is so good! As is the ambience and decor, and the service. The manager was super sweet, she was the best. We had the spinach and artichoke dip which was great, the deviled eggs, grilled cheese with tomato soup, and our favorite the bison pasta! It's in a tomato vodka type sauce. Delicious.

Food is awesome - service is not. I went one Thursday…read moreevening after work in March and I had been trying to get here for weeks. I was aware this is a new-ish place but I love steak houses - from basic supper clubs to high end establishments with history and culinary renown. I have traveled all of the US and have eaten some of the best steaks money can buy... I wanted this place to be gem so badly and for it to become my go to local favorite. Time will tell but my first trip was less than I had hoped - First I was asked to sit at the bar since I was "only one person". (Strike 1). I'm a big guy... you figure the hostess might have picked up on this fact... The place was dead ... so I didn't understand this. I guess it was about an hour until they officially close and maybe we're short staffed. The bartender / servers (there were two) - but they also handled the entire casino floor bar in addition to being my waiters so I received less than attentive service because of the sheer number of people they had to service. The restaurant bar is tucked on the backside of the main casino bar. (Strike 2). I would have easily been convinced to have a bottle of wine or at least a couple of glasses and I was leaning toward trying the Porterhouse (what I originally came for) but it took so long for someone to check on me I decided one beer and something quick to eat because I could see it wasn't going to be a the stellar experience I had hoped for. This is a shame - because the food ended up being awesome. From the bread service which was surprisingly delicious / to my salad (very good) and the 10oz filet(which was actually (2) 5oz medallions ) was perfectly seasoned and cooked at an exact medium rare as I ordered it. I also tried the Burgundy Demi-Glace which was spot on perfect as far as sauces go which really showcased the taste talents of the chef. The whipped potatoes were also fantastic - exactly as I like them and could have eaten two additional orders. I wish the menu or server would have described the filet as two medallions rather than one cut tenderloin as one would expect in a fine dining establishment - but nonetheless - I was delighted by the food. I skipped desert and coffee because I the server didn't come back to ask after dinner for quite some time and I decided perhaps I should get home... The service and lack of even the most basic of attention made me feel like I was putting the staff out for coming in at 8pm. Again - not the bar staff's fault entirely but the lack of understanding of the restaurant manager is more the issue. Call it a supper club or an upscale diner if a service doesn't come with the $46 steak. The restaurant is 20 minutes from my house and I could see eating there at least once per week - I will try again and hope they work out the kinks - but I'll drive to rib& chop in Cheyenne or Rare in Fort Collins until this place matures and level of service catches up with the food quality and price . - if you want to make High Plains Steakhouse a fine dinning destination - you need to step up the service and at least try to make all patrons feel as the experience is worth the price.

I would have been happy if she'd just put it in the microwave for a couple of minutes. Needless to say, the meal was delicious, and the take-home plate was an added bonus heated-up at home the next day... T-Joes is our "to go place" for a good prime rib, steak, shrimp & hamburgers. Then, they went into bankruptcy, and took their time to reopen selectively with a new menu and supposedly a better business plan. I waited a year until visiting after they reopened, hoping they'd have their new act together. Sorry, it's just not there, yet. Let's go down the list: #1, prices are way too high for the restaurant niche they're trying to recapture. I don't expect endless shrimp for $12.99 like the old days (which is why they went bankrupt) but a fried fish platter for $30 is outrageous for the same breaded filets, shrimp & scallops you can get in the Kroger's frozen food aisle for about $10. Then, #2, the funkytown nightclub music they have blaring feels waaaay out of place. You can't find some Island vibe music from Hawaii or the Caribbean? The music was really annoying. And, #3, just about everything is ala carte now, including salads. It's almost impossible to have a full meal, salads to desserts, for less than $50 a person. Hey, it's a Red Lobster, not a downtown steakhouse. Get real about pricing! The only good notes to report are their Happy Hour, 3-6pm M-F, to save a few bucks. And, at least the service at this Cheyenne location was courteous, prompt and very attentive. Aside from that, I probably won't be back for at least another year in hopes they start giving customers a little price break on mediocre seafood.
