The Metropolitan Downtown has a number of good things going for it...but service isn't one of them. It's a restaurant with ambiance located in downtown Cheyenne which serves, at least in our case, good food. However, the service and the attention to the customer are severely wanting. My wife and I waited forty plus minutes for a simple grilled cheese sandwich and soup. It would've taken longer had I not gone into the kitchen to tell our waitress we were hungry. The waitresses, for some reason we had two, had to be prodded to refill our water and diet soda. Unfortunately, bread is not served before (or during) the meal. Sorry, but we cannot recommend this place as long as the staff continues trying our patience. read more

I went for lunch at 3 pm on a Wednesday so it was pretty quiet. The staff were mostly young women, my server was sweet, not super attentive but it was nice. They have a happy hour 3-5 where some appetizers are half off. So I tried the deviled eggs. The Ambiance gives off this sexy and upscale vibe. Great place to take someone on a date if you are trying to impress them. Not sure what it feels like with people in it but the decor and furnishings were nicer than some of the other local restaurants. I ordered the seared salmon and deviled eggs. Seared salmon - 4/10 The salmon was pretty good and not fatty, but it was covered in the burre blanc sauce that totally over powered it. It made it flavorful but salty. The quinoa on the side was a large serving and it was probably good that it was a little bland so it balanced out the salmon. Now... I love Brussels sprouts but these were not it. The seasoning and the texture was all off. Not good. I did end up eating all of the salmon and quinoa. Deviled eggs - 2/10 Not seasoned well. They simply tasted like hard boiled eggs with paprika. I am not sure if I just ordered things that were not great or if I came in on an off day but I wouldn't suggest coming here to eat. But I would come and sit at the bar on a date. The server said that their pastas were great and their burgers. She also said their seafood was good. So if there is a next time I would try their burger but definitely not these 2 dishes. read more

I don't know what's taken me so long, but I'm finally getting around to reviewing The Metropolitan in Cheyenne. WOW!!! This is a 5-star winner on every grading level, seriously. Their food is creative and quirky, but totally SOLID and delicious, with menu choices that will please every palate. I've grazed most of the lunch and dinner menus over the past several months and I've NEVER been disappointed. It's all good! And the place, itself, has a very relaxing upscale vibe ambiance that keeps you comfortable and relaxed, regardless if you plant yourself at the bar, or in a booth, or at a table. You're comfortable everywhere in here, with some of the finest waitstaff you'll find anywhere in Wyoming. Service is great! Bottom line, The Metropolitan is a total winner and Cheyenne is lucky to have this place as a great dining alternative. read more

Friends made reservations for a group to celebrate their daughter graduating from UW. When we arrived we were told that they were just hit with a very large group. We were told that our orders would not be placed for at least a 1/2 hour from our reservation time. We were fine with the delay and were seated. The wait staff (Jazlyn?) were friendly and attentive. We ordered drinks and appetizers which arrived in a timely manner. Our orders for the main course were taken at the time delay they told us. Our table of three ordered the same meal, prime rib. One was ordered medium, while mine and my wife's were ordered medium rare. Our food arrived in a timely manner. When I cut into my prime rib it was not medium rare. It was well done. I figured they might have mixed it with the other order at the table. When all three of us cut into our prime rib they were all cooked to well done. The fingerlings and asparagus were spot on. We ate our prime rib. It was tough and flavorless. To top it off, our table finished our meal before three in our group got their much more simple meal. read more

Had an overall poor experience. But the manager took two of the meals off of our bill. So I have to give this restaurant a better rating. Everyone has a bad day and I have never had anyone take two full meals off my bill before. So I appreciate the management understanding without us having to make a fuss. Food was ok tasting. At the end of the day, I think we just had a poor service experience. Took 15 minutes for server to show up at table. Food took quite a while to come out. Two of three meals arrived cold. They reheated them nicely. Then took another 15 minutes after we were done eating to bring the check. Just a bit off-putting. read more

We have tried for two years to give the met a chance. The wait staff is excellent! But the food quality at times, and the timeliness, is so sub-par. Occasionally, the food is pretty good. For the third time today we sat and waited for one hour for food...a breakfast entree. At 40 minutes we asked to speak to the manager, she never bothered to come to our table. What a shame the Met is for Cheyenne. The decor and vibe is excellent, the waitstaff is excellent....but management is clue less. The Met could be so much better than this. So sad. read more

First the good. Waitress - kind and attentive. Credit them for working with they have to work with. Now, the not so good. 1. Wait time from order to table, think it was an hour. No excuse for such a long wait time. I had to ask the waitress to speed our order up. Got it after the prod and it came cold. See #2. 2. I only ordered a burger with fries, the burgers came cold as well as the fries. In and Out burger for 6 bucks is waaaay better than what I got. Was disappointed. Wife's meal looked ok, but for the price, not worth it. 3. Was told there was a large 50 group being served, might be a delay. The place was not packed at all for a Wednesday evening early meal. Maybe this was true, but, a few of the reviews left, they were told the same thing and why their meals could be delayed. I'm questioning the validity of this excuse. 4. Pictures on the web vs actual seem deceptive. The menu options were minimal. Honestly, I only picked what I did because of the limited options. Menu selection needs improvement big time. Sanford's to the east has a lot more options. Lastly, the experience suggests management and possible budget issues. Out of respect for our waitress, I tipped the standard 20%. But for the total cost? Over priced and a standard eatery cloaked as high end. Glad we tried, but not worth returning to ever. In terms of romance and ambience, this modern chic eatery will make you forget you're in little Cheyenne Wyoming. The dark elegant dining room and bar look like something from New York or San Francisco. I was solo so just grabbed a bar seat, and was served a by a busy but very friendly barman. $17 Prime Rib Dip...a sizeable portion of tasty sliced prime rib in a French roll, nothing more except the juicy au jus dip. Meaty deliciousness, but didn't have a "wow" factor. I subbed out fries for salad as I was watching my belly size, salad was good enough with a variety of dressings to choose from. Covid kills This was my favorite restraunt in Cheyenne but after Covid they cut the menu down to a third of its size removing the majority of the items I enjoyed. The quality of the food has steadily decreased as the prices increase. The service was okay enough. The ambience was on point but without good food it doesn't serve much of a point. read more

Food was absolutely exceptional! I ordered the prime rib sandwich with regular fries and it was very tender, and juicy. I was very satisfied with the food to say the least. The waiter was just ok. He didn't hardly crack a smile, wasn't the most friendly, and seemed in a rush. The restaurant wasn't busy, so I'm not sure what the deal was, but he was ok. He did bring me drinks as they emptied, and he was quick. I was with a pretty large party (14), so maybe he didn't like that? I went to eat looking for a new restaurant. I gave this place a shot. I've been back a few times. Yet it's been awhile.

Food was ok not great. Service barely adequate. Nice place but, have been once and shall not return.

Joe and Paige were extremely professional and we couldn't have asked for better treatment. The bar and dining areas are warm and welcoming. The food is off the charts. The place looks nice. I wanted to try this amazing looking Greek Wedge Salad. I ordered it and 5 minutes later a plain old wedge with tomatoes, bleu cheese and overcooked bacon showed up. It took about 15 minutes for the waitress to come over and I told her what I received isn't even on the menu? Apparently they ran out and didn't mention it. She removed it from my bill. Then I ordered a ribeye with asparagus and truffle fries. The asparagus was delicious and fresh. The truffle fries were well cooked with a nice truffle flavor and a bit of Parmesan and parsley but unfortunately were overstated. The ribeye however... tasted like they hadn't scraped their grill in days. It had zero seasoning and deep char marks making it very bitter tasting. They didn't render the fat at all which made it hard and chewy. The waitress handled this all like a pro, offering to take all the food off my bill and saying "you shouldn't pay for something if it wasn't good." I'm grateful for the service but frankly, I'll be getting my steaks elsewhere next time. read more

The smothered breakfast burrito was delicious. The pork carnitas was so flavorful and went well with the breakfast potatoes and fluffy scrambled eggs. It came with lettuce and fresh pico de gallo then I ordered it with a side of green chili for some extra smothering. My husband ordered the same thing and agreed it was amazing and commented on the fluffiness of the scrambled eggs, flavor of the pork carnitas, and was happy to have extra green chili too. Brussel sprouts here are amazing and the julienned apple on top were a nice touch! I had a burger that was super tasty but I could only eat half. It wasn't exceptionally big it's just that I filled up on all the Brussel sprouts and didn't have any room. I have been really trying to find decent restaurants in Cheyenne and this place ticks all the boxes if you're looking for a good meal and great service. Great for date night, everyday dining, and special occasions. Funny thing was the drinking glasses are so sparkly that I thought it was a candle holder and moved it out of the way....until my server came by and filled it with water. Had to chuckle to myself because it was almost too nice to drink out of. :) Service was friendly and attentive. Will definitely return. read more

The ambiance in the restaurant is great, if slightly dark (seems to be a trend). Very "hip" atmosphere that makes you want to go up to the bar and stay a while. We had a reservation, and were seated promptly. Our table was a two-top, in a strange kind of corner that backed up to the larger 7-8 top. If the place would have been packed, I may have understood, but the tables next to us sat empty throughout our meal (we'll revisit this later). Love the self-service water (we drink like fishes), and the initial pace of service was very well timed and appropriate (the problem of "saturated service" is one I have often seen at higher end establishments in small-moderate sized cities); our server truly was great; bravo in that regard. We ordered a wedge salad to split, the poke appetizer, and a ribeye and salmon main course. The wedge arrived as ordered, and was fantastic! About halfway through the wedge, the poke arrived, quickly followed by both of our main courses. The timing here, for obvious reasons, left something to be desired. Our little two-top was straining to support the food which was delivered in such quick succession. We made an attempt to finish our salads; luckily the table next to us was empty; we were able to start stacking our finished plates there. We got through the rest of the meal easily and without issue (what else was left to do?). We really enjoyed the food, and as I said, for a town of this size, the pace of service (with the exception of food pacing...) was outstanding. In the future, we will request our next plates not be brought out until the previous are finished/removed, especially at such a small table. With some minor changes, this would have easily been a five star review, but the seating, combined with having to rush though our salad to get to our appetizer, to then eat a (now) cold main course resulted in the three-star review. read more

i went to the Metropolitain this evening to try out a limited dish and I was absolutely not disappointed. The atmosphere was rich and comfortable and was well designed with several points of interest like the acrylic/glass floor that shows off some of the buildings history. It was a really nice touch to have the bar just above it. The metro is designed almost with an art deco/modern appeal. The host was very polite and promptly got me seated where my server came by and assisted me with drinks and discussed menu options. I ended up getting a cocktail as well as some delicious brussel sprouts topped with sliced apples and nuts, and then had ordered the Halibut special. The sprouts were crispy and cooked to perfection and the fish was tender, flavorful and seasoned just right. I really enjoyed the special slight crispy potatoes and vegetables that came with the dish. Everything was plated well, and overall I'd absolutely recommend checking out this gem in downtown Cheyenne. They also seem to have a loyalty program on the reciept, which I gave my email and I'm curious to see what perks it has to offer.
