However, the place smells like mildew immediately when you walk in, we were sat at a table with a gross, matted, dirty mustard colored sofa, and the glass plates showed every fingerprint. Honestly, this place is so bad. We tried it for a second time because we wanted to give them a second chance. I ordered the short rib ravioli, the pasta was undercooked and the gravy sauce was so thick, I could barely eat it. My husband ordered a steak which was overcooked and chewy, with an old tasting flavor. The potatoes were fingerlings fried with no seasoning. Cocktail and brussel sprouts were good. I stopped by around 1:30 this afternoon and ordered a Monte Cristo which is one of my favorite sandwiches. I was served two pieces of toast with mustard sloped on them and some other condiment which was unrecognizable, a thin slice of deli ham and a partial slice of deli turkey, no berry jam. Nothing like the picture on the website. There were some unseasoned chips on the plate. It was the sorriest excuse for a Monte Cristo that I have seen. Left 90 % on the table, paid the $16 tab, and left a tip. Service was decent . This is the second time I have tried Paris West and the food quality has not changed. From the street, this looks like a very small bar, but it goes all through the building once inside. Nice decor, warm and bright. They're new, so still training staff, adding tables, finalizing menu and have big plans. We ate from their limited menu (expanding next week) of gourmet grilled cheese and soup/chili and were not disappointed. There was a lot of table side finishing, usually torching brie, French onion soup. It wasn't necessary for me, but extra effort is there. Lots of speciality drinks coming as well. We came up from Denver and really enjoyed visiting and eating at this cute restaurant. We had a sincere and efficient waitress. We loved the decor and vibe of the space! We all ordered bloody Mary's which were PERfECt and each glass came with a cool little tree, that held olives, cheese, and peppers! We all, too, ordered the Swiss onion burger and it was excellent. I started lunch with the Tomato Bisque soup, and was advised that it was gluten free (it was). The soup was wonderful and I'd actually go back just for this, it had a great depth of tomato flavor, rich and creamy. My lunch partner had the French Onion soup and she loved it from the cheesy top, floating bread crouton and lots of onions. We both had the Spicy Ground Beef salad. It was just about the right servicing size with a very flavorful base of coconut rice topped with cucumbers, carrots, sliced peppers and spice ground beef along with fresh spinach topped with a spicy mayo dressing. I thought the ground beef was a bit too salty, at least for my taste. The menu has evolved nicely as the first couple times I ate here it wasn't the best. Decided to check this place out for a mid-afternoon bite and WOW, it's excellent! Sure, it has a funky retro vibe interior that might catch you off guard, but it's clean and comfortable. Service was great, very attentive and accommodating. And the portions? HUGE!!! If you order the Caramelized Brussels Sprouts appetizer, it's a massive plate full that'll easily feed 6 people, no joke. And, the crispy fried sprout are absolutely delicious, as was the French Onion Soup (rich & bold flavors), the Cuban Sandwich (massive, meaty & fantastic), and the Goat Cheese Discs (creamy goodness)! The drinks are big, bold and certainly not weak at all, with a nice heavy pour. No complaints here, can't wait to come back for the full dinner menu in the weeks ahead! read more

I was really honestly hoping this place would be good. Unfortunately, it wasn't even remotely close. Just like the cucumber that came with my salad that was what is known in Culinary School as a door stop cut, my food was just as inconsistently cooked. The food in my opinion is at best mediocre and very inconsistent. To be fair about the ambiance the restaurant is undergoing some remodeling, so I'm not going to rate that portion for my review. I felt the service was not the greatest. The restaurant was empty upon arrival, and stayed empty for the remainder of my time there. The waitress in my opinion didn't seem interested in working there. And she lacked a sense of knowledge for good customer service. For instance if I ask what her opinion is on something, I'm looking to hear what she think about a product, not what is the most popular product is. I did leave her a $15 tip because I had a feeling that was about the most she was going to make for that night. I ordered the Coq Au Vin. At first try the mashed potatoes that this was served over were flavorless the Sauce was extremely peppery and the chicken was moist at least but the pepper over powered everything. I could also tell that the wine that goes into the sauce was not added. In my opinion probably the best thing out of this meal was the French Baguette. It had a wonderful crackle for the crust and was fairly close to being authentic French bread. For dessert I ordered a Crème Brûlée, this is a very difficult dish to get right, and unfortunately, they didn't get it right, it was bland and lacked that something special that crème Brûlée is intended to have. Overall, I left hungry because I just couldn't eat my food. I did however get a 50% discount on my order which seems more than fair to me. In my opinion if something isn't done quickly and this restaurant doesn't have some major changes especially with the standardized recipes it will be closed by the end of the year. read more

My second time here, and it's continuing to impress! My husband ordered the Cowboy Grilled Cheese, which he LOVED. When I tasted it, I found it quite straight-forward and satisfying. Warm pulled pork and melted cheddar inside a perfectly buttered and pan-toasted envelope of thick-cut white bread. The real star was the bread: impossibly light and airy. Yum :) I ordered the Chicken with Kale Pesto Sandwich and specially requested it on a croissant bun. Wow. The grilled chicken breast was absolutely moist and juicy! The bacon was thick, the pesto fresh, and the croissant bun the perfect combination of crispy, chewy, and buttery. Since I'm a saucy sandwich kind of girl, I ordered extra mayo and hot sauce on the side, which I mixed together to slather on each bite separately. And yes, it was GOOD. The Padre's Hot Sauce, apparently made by a local man (whose daughter happened to be our server today), was a revelation. Both the mild "Yellow Jacket" and hot "Bodacious" are made through a lacto-fermentation process that results in a luscious, complex chili flavor without the harsh vinegar edge that you get with most hot sauces. My hat's off to Mr. Padre for your delicious and painstakingly created hot sauce and to Paris West for featuring this superior, locally-produced artisanal product! I'm actually grateful that their espresso machine was on the fritz today, because I would not have otherwise tried their drip coffee, which was a special edition small batch dark roast, whose name escapes me. It was fantastic. And we culminated our meal with dessert: carrot cake for my hubby and Orange & Sugar crêpes for me. I found the carrot cake unpleasantly cold, dense, and barely carroty, topped with uninspiring cream cheese frosting and untoasted pecans - pass. The crêpes, on the other hand, were wonderful. Perfectly thin, uniform, and tender. With a thin brushing of orange marmalade inside and, be still my heart, a syrup-poached orange slice garnishing each folded pancake. I think a nice dollop of homemade whipped cream would've sent this dish over the top, but then I can be an over-the-top sort of person, so maybe don't listen to me :) Long story short, it was a fantastic mid-week brunch, and we will be back soon! I gave Paris West Four stars because I didn't want to bring the ratings down, but the food wasn't the best. I had the chicken and waffles. I guess the waffles are frozen waffles and the chicken was probably from a freezer pack too, not as it appears in the photo on their website. Tasted OK but they need to improve the quality of their food. I appreciate what they're trying to create and hope their business does well. I feel compelled to leave a review. I was previously warned to stay away from this place, but we decided we would try it and give it our own review. I wish I would have listened. I ordered the regular grilled cheese. $14. I'm thinking this thing has to be decent for the price. Wrong. Two hard mini biscuits and some shredded cheese, smaller than my hand. That was all that showed up. Eventually I got my side of French onion soup- I'm pretty positive it was canned soup with some added burnt onions, some crunch garlic bread, and some cheese on the top that never even melted into the soup. My husband got the Cowboy grilled cheese, which had way too much bbq sauce on it and came with an entire skillet of additional bbq sauce. His side was chips (the chips were the only good thing out of this meal). He also got some super bland, sloppy chili that came with a quarter of a hard cinnamon roll. I just have to post pictures because words can't make you feel this experience enough. $64.66 later, we won't be returning. At this rate, I would honestly be surprised if this place lasts another 3 months in business. read more

Never ceases to amaze and the menu just keeps getting bigger. Had the Amelia Airheart and Downtowner to drink, both sweet and strong. Tried the fried goat cheese discs which were so good they were devoured in just a minute. Had the soup flight which I'd been looking forward to for weeks. Hubby had the mine crust and chips which mysteriously disappeared within minutes. Daughter had the salmon and she even ate some veggies which impressed me. But there could be some improvements. The food was good and it was well-presented. But we felt the food lacked flavor a bit and wasn't quite worth what it costed. The ambiance would be a bit better if they had softer lighting. And the tables/couch seating felt a bit awkward. No flavor, overcooked and awful looking. The "Easter Buffett" was in the lobby area of an extended stay hotel and was dark and dingy. I'm a pastry artist and the desserts...let me see here..looked like my granddaughter sat in the kitchen with her brothers and threw something together. Waaaaay overpriced. $43 person!! Yes $43!! That didn't include drinks. Kids under 10 should been priced at $13. After we got home and checked the bill 2 kids at our table, CLEARLY under 10, were charged $43 also. Called and only got the whole run around and no answers. What a disappointment and robbery. Would've done so much better going to IHOP. Ordered the French grilled cheese that the menu said services with your choice of soup or salad. The price quoted on the menu was $14 which I thought was a steep but okay price if the food was going it be good. Received the food there was way too much smoke flavor but the added pear was nice for the grilled cheese. The tomato bisque was not a bisque as all; it was a nasty puréed thick tomato soup with bland flavors. Not creamy or smooth at all. To top it all off, we received the bill where they had "added" the soup to our grilled cheese for a $4 up charge with is insane for the quantity and quality, but to straight up deceive us by saying the total cost of the food was $14 as printed on the menu and then sneak in a $4 up charge for each soup. We ended up paying $38.16 prior to tip for two semi shitty grilled cheese and two sides of soup. Extremely overpriced for underwhelming food. I feel like this was extremely shady, and I will not be returning to this restaurant on principle. read more

I'm from out of town, but was fortunate to try this restaurant without looking at these reviews beforehand. I don't understand the negativity directed at Paris West. It has one of the best, most fun menus I've seen in a long time - creative sandwiches and such, but also very tempting entrees which made my meal decision very difficult. We were a party of four and everyone enjoyed their meal, appetizer, and drinks. Good portions for a fair price. The ambience is a mix of old and modern which I think is quite creative and unique. I truly don't understand the negative opinions of others. Maybe they just don't "get it" because this place is very different and not your run-of-the-mill boring food. The only thing I found strange is how the drinks came out separately to the table. But, once delivered, were quite excellent. I thought our young server did a good job. She was pleasant and helpful. A total miss. The ambiance looks nice at first, but too bright and the seats are too low where we were seated. Additionally, the table we sat at was more like a wide console table. It had two bars running across the bottom, right where you feet should go. So we had to put our feet on them to sit up to the table. The lighting was straight up blinding. Several fixtures had that harsh bluish white LED light. Please consider turning your lights down for dinner and getting rid of those harsh bulbs. The server was not engaging at all and appeared rushed. So that's the setting. We started with a "Brie wheel" that looked a hot mess but tasted yummy. However, it was served with two pieces of cold, dense, slightly dry baguette slices with the same veggies they put on the table when they seat people, which don't look terribly appetizing either. The edges of the celery were brown and the carrots were a little dried out. However, I did find it clever that they served dried apple slices with this. It actually paired very well. It was different. The main dish we ordered to split, came out in one bowl and we had to ask for a plate. The plates by the way, are little glass salad plates. Does not make sense to use salad plates for dinner. For that matter, my husband ordered a seltzer water from the bar and it came in a plastic cup that looks like a glass. This is not Chucky Cheese, guys. This is a restaurant that serves French food! People don't go out to eat at a place like this so they can have a pizza joint experience. Please consider donating the plastic cups and canning jars and get real glasses. Anyway the dinner was supposed to be Coq-a vin, but it tasted and looked like a seared piece of boiled chicken, served cold, atop mushy veggies in an underwhelmingly seasoned broth. They were supposed to do something to it table-side to bring out the Chardonnay flavor but that did not occur. It was disappointing. The crème brûlée that followed was tasty but runny and the presentation was lackluster. They flame the top to melt the sugars right at the table with a big yellow blow torch. I would ask them to just do it in the back next time. It's not like it's real entertaining or anything. It succeeded in melting and warming the top but the bottom was cold and it was all served in a temporary pot pie type foil dish. Would look way more appealing in the cast iron pan itself or a tart dish. So, that was what we ordered, a soda water, the Brie wheel, the coq-a vin, and the crème brûlée. It cost $75 including and 18% tip. It did not meet our expectations based on prior reviews. We are sad to say we cannot recommend it based on our experience. read more
